Great tier list! I've never played a real long a campaign as Austria so this is very informative before starting one :) Hope to see more tier list videos in the future!
How about the Pandours? I also missed them in your explanation about Austrian units. They're the light/irregular units available in the early campaign and I like them... Anyway, very good content in your channel! ;-)
Yes I did forget them they would have fallen in militia category. Their one strength is walking whilst hidden and range. They have very slow reload and not great accuracy. Best way to use them is baiting units into traps.
Oh no my beloved puckle guns placed in the Citizen category ! 🤣. I actually have seen a puckle gun in action on another YT channel, they may not be that effective but i find them fun.
The concept of them is cool but the use is tough in this game. I am almost finished watching your newest ottoman video try to only commit your melee troops when fresh and push one or 2 of them through to the back. Then change them in the back of the unit tied up in melee should route them faster
Yeah it really is easier I agree lol. You should see that livestream I did with Austria I just held on until 1750 and could not expand past my original borders until after then. I am probably going to be hitting that series back up very soon. I think I was at around 1756 or something. I am currently switching out my infantry with grenzers. I plan to take over the world with a massive grenzer spam.
@@FaramirsRangers I watched that one, really good stuff. Unfortunately my own campaign isn’t going well as Austria. Took over all of the ottomans but Maratha and rebellions are fucking me up
@@johnm9910 switch your armies that face Maratha to a general and either all light dragoons or a mix of grenzers and Light dragoons. Trust me it will take time to master these armies but once you do you will be unstoppable with cav. Maratha just doesn't have the armies that can contend with grenzers and Light dragoons. The light dragoons with give stability to regions as they have policing bonus. If you are defending a fort you can dismount the goons and it will create a nice barricade. Trust me the fire power you will punch with is amazing have a few goons mounted to run down routed units to save ammo. They are better than canister shot.
I mostly agree with the list. For me, I would put the horse art lower just because I hate them and the generals bodyguard (which is essential), is such a terrible unit on its own so I would put that lower as well
Thing is the general is so hugely important especially if he has traits that improve moral. Building up their stats and you can get 3 or 4 extra moral gotta love that
Isnt the austrian line infantry a good unit though? Thing is with their strong cavalry having a larger unit size line infantry lets you incorporate more cav and cannons in your army than normal, which to me is a nice bonus to have
Well to answer your question from my point of view Austrian line are a major liability that MUST be managed carefully. With there low morale a routing unit can quickly spread to your whole army. Use of generals and moral boosting units is a must. Team that with their terrible accuracy your larger unit size volleys will have many missed shots. The larger size also has another down side in that they are easy targets for the enemy. You can spread the as wide as possible and they will still have 3 ranks at the widest spread. So if you are an advanced player Austria can be a very fun nation to play with but the main reason for this would be their light infantry roster. I would put their lights up against Great Britain any day. Austrian line is one of the more expensive lines but their grenzers are so cheap and deadly it will balance the cost of your army. As for their cav the best melee cav in their roster is the lancer as it has massive charge bonus when they strike. So in the late game your armies can be highly aggressive that will give you high difficulty to have artillery keep pace with your movements. The spread and killing power of your grenzers with the bulk of a few lines to support them teamed with light dragoon’s and a few lancers can easily and quickly destroy any army build you will encounter in the field.
