@@mysterymastermind175 Think it actually had to have thinner armour than you'd expect to help it move around as well as having the slightly exposed mechanical components that are weak spots.

Interesting that hobbos' don't have expendable, so they won't care if the laborers/slaves rout, but since they don't have contempt, dwarfs won't care if they rout, so CA (seemingly) nailed it and made the three levels of chorf society work in the gameplay And I like how all the artillery is single entity, good way to balance the OP-ness without actually making the unit bad
Yeah I reckon bringing multiple cheap artillery units will provide a cost-effective counter to Chorf artillery. Playing as Empire I think you'd typically want to bring a couple of great cannons plus a decent amount of cav, for example.
Feel like the regular Dwarf ranged units could really benefit from the "Dig In!" ability. Since the whole roster incentivizes static gameplay I think that abilities like these could make it more rewarding and viable. Giving something similar to their melee units would also help.
This is in line with what ItalianSparticus has been saying, that now that we have the CDs, regular old dawi are looking pretty lackluster. These guys have artillery, mobile war machines, cav, monsters, multi-role lords, and sturdy dawi infantry and ranged bois. Meanwhile, no significant dwarf updates in ages, the bois need some roster updates.
@@GamerX13X what are you talking about Dwarfs had a fairly big rework when Ironbrow came out. They still have amazing artillery, Runes, way more range options, free slayers. Dwarf mains act like they never get anything meanwhile way more factions have barely been touched in comparison.
Chaos dwarfs seem so strong and thought out. The abilities from the heroes are really good and harmonize well with the roster. DLC powercreep is real but damn they seem so fun to play!
@@theasorlins6027 I'd say going wide and trying to outflank them. Or maybe go artillery because they are very slow and some units get slower over time
They seem stronger 1v1 than most other races comparable units, but they're also horrendously expensive with the dreadquake mortar costing something like ~3500 gold making it the most expensive unit in the game. There's also unit caps for most of the dwarf roster, meaning you can't field large armies of high tier units as easily as other factions.
@@RaccooNooB I have to disagree about the expensive part they have lots of chaff infantry that can be buffed by hero's in MP, also great mid tier infantry for melee and missile units. Turin has been making viable builds with them having 1200ish unit counts. The main issue with them I think in MP will be the poor flying roster (only single entities, no harpies etc.) also they have no magic defense race trait like the Dwarves, but still are sitting ducks against Pit of Shades and big AOE spells that delete infantry clusters. All over still strong faction, probably B tier and hard to counter pick much like the Tomb Kings. Cant wait!
Chaos dwarfs are about to become my favorite faction and its not even close. My biggest gripe with dwarves was no cavalry or monsters, chaos dwarfs not only cover those bases, but my god they absolutely blow it out of the water. Plus their overall mechanics are just better. I cannot WAIT to get my hands on these guys
@@lolasdm6959 Actually the Infernal Ironsworn are better tanking units than the Ironbreakers, but the goblin/orc/hobgoblin units are ofc weaker than any dwarf unit tankwise
It's VERY expensive though, you won't see more than one or two MAX in a multiplayer army. 3 would mean you're just basically bringing those and gobbos.
Almost. They're slow, but most gunpowder units are unless they're mounted. They're also really expensive, even for a high tier gunpowder unit. In campaign they've also got a cap on them.
I love how they used all the different helmets/hats of the Chaos Dwarf versions, both the classical GW Byzantian style ones as well as the Forge World ones. And this army allows for a good combination of heroes as well as going all out with just one type. I imagine an all Great Taurus army where the Lord also rides a Great Taurus!
Overall, I think Chaos Dwarves are going to be the most well-rounded faction in the game, though obviously not the most balanced. On the face of it, they're a heavy ranged, heavy armored infantry faction and you could absolutely play them that way with a lot of success. What sets them apart from the other factions, especially multi-role ones like the Empire or the high/dark elves, is that they've got just about every major unit type, so you can make nearly any type of build with them. They've got great heavy infantry and also chaff (though no dedicated anti-large, which might be redundant when you can focus fire with 3 blunderbusses anyway). They've got single entity monsters, flying monsters, monstrous infantry, and great war machines and artillery. They've even got dedicated heavy cavalry and skirmish cavalry, plus some potential sneaky units with the hobgoblins. Add in the gunpowder, plus goblin archers, and there really isn't anything major that any other factions have which they can't match.
I feel like CA is learning from the development of DLC and is going to give some of the old races some passives to boost up their heros, elite troops, and RoR. Or at least I hope so.
You know, I feel bad-and a little weird- for saying this, but your Army Roster videos make for great ASMR before going to sleep, Zerkovich. Informative, relaxing and with the odd joke here and there, just chill overall.
Roster looks incredible! So well rounded. They have everything. Magic, infantry, missiles, cav, monster cav, monster inf, artillery, skirmish cav, good heroes and lords, big monster, flyers. Everything!
It'd be cool to see maybe a Chaos Dwarf campaign mission with Chaos Dwarf line infantry and tanks going up against Empire tanks and riflemen after a wave of Hobgoblins charging Imperial lines, like a fantasy Battle of Kursk
awesome. I also like how CA didnt basically make chaos dwarfs 'dwarfs but better'. Yes, this army has more tactical flexibility, but the dwarf thunderers have shields (so different than the chaos dwarf ironbreakers and longer range than the blunderbuss), and the artillery is DIFFERENT. Also excited to ally the chaos dwarfs as norsca or chaos and get some of their units int he army. Agree with the comment on the tiered society.
They are exactly this: dwarfs, but better - a complete power-creep. Armor piercing blasting charges on their elite holding infantry which therefore can even counter every infantry that is supposed to counter them. Their blunderbuss dwarfs are literally hand cannons with lower unit count, same damage, but heavy armor, silver-shields and 7 more Ammo. Deathquake mortars are basically mass-produced a queen bees with chariot speed. I don't want to go on, cause it is just so absurd. That you do not see this, comes only from the fact that you don't care for balance, only power fantasy.
Glad to see Zerk doing a detailed video on the Chaos Dwarfs. Loved his faction army breakdown videos, so it's great seeing him finally doing the Chaos Dwarfs army.
I wonder if grimgore got Da immortalz name from The Immortals. Honestly I didn't even remember noticing that in the lore between em enough. lol Hopefully I get to read more in a few things in this DLC
Yes he did. He essentially saw the chaos dwarf Immortals fighting during the black ork revolts and was actually impressed. So he wanted something just like that for his own troops.
I think is just a coincidence, chaos dwarfs immortals are just mentioned in a novel, and grimgor immortals are said to be named like that because they are huge badasses, also it was other orcs who named them like that, not Grimgor.
I think the Bull Centaurs are better used like minotaurs or rat ogres. Mix them with regular troops to smash through lines, then flank and encircle, using the chaff/infantry to tank for you.
@Zerkovich if you wanna abuse the chaos dwarfs a bit you can simply run around with your gorduz+goblin doomstack, get rid of your melee chaos dwarf units. only keep like 2 blunders in your army. then increase the capacity for every type of unit you want by 1, to unlock the first upgrade for them and hammer them all in. since you dont own melee dwarfs or any other unit except for 2 blunders and either artillery or bull centaurs you basically get huge buffs to convois and garrisons for free. slamming 3 upgrades on everything later on and paying basically nothing is fun. they cant take over your settlements, the gobo doomstack cant get killed. if you play with the greater garrisons mod by Zorbaz you can even have fun battles with a garrison against a huge army, instead of just auto resolving, cause the garrison is just so garbage, that it would be like a leaf in the wind.
I think with the final test, the Queen Bess Vs Dreadquake, length of time rather than number of shots might be a better test as not all artillery has the same rate of fire. That's an important part of how effective it is, as more shots in the same time could be more powerful even if each individual shot is less powerful
The immortals are just the faction slayer buff but on a unit with much better over all stats. I like it. Super tanky normally then ignoring loses till after losing 25% full hp.
This seems really good but my only concern is that some of the other races are going to fall behind both in campaign and multiplayer, like the regular Dwarfs. CA should prioritize reworking/balancing all of the other races that are being left behind before releasing more content.
Holy Hashut, that dice mechanic for Gorduz can be HUGE if they implement it for some other skills! Finally, I can get screwed over by dice rolls in my favorite game!

Those laborers have some pretty cool neckwear! Seems cumbersome, painful, and restraining but I’m sure they thanked their Dwarf Overlords for the accessory to their wardrobe!
You know, I know it's a joke in the community right now that Labourers was done as a means of not offending people by using "slaves"... but I'd like to point out something interesting from historical examples. Nazis had slave labour in the form of the people they put in the Concentration Camps. Jews, Slavs, Gypsies, etc. were all forced to labour away for the German war machine until the point that they were either too broken to work anymore or until they dropped dead. The Nazis didn't see it as "slavery". Slavery implied servants, living chattel, people meant to be at the bottom rung of a totem pole hierarchy. The Nazis didn't see their labour as human: they saw those they put in those camps as exploitable labour, a resource to be used to its fullest, a tool. This isn't to say that slavery isn't the same thing. What was done was still slavery... but it's important to know *why*. The reason was simple: the intention was dehumanization, to strip away any notion of humanity from what they saw as tools. The same can be said for the Chaos Dwarfs. Taking the Dark Elves and Skaven - the two most notable slavers in the Warhammer World - as direct comparison, we can see that there's a clear difference in intention. Skavenslaves are an in-society caste of other Skaven, similar to Hindi Untouchables, forever ostracized and seen as the lowest of the low. Dark Elves know exactly what they are doing, and they more than understand that these other races are sentient. But they don't care. In fact, Dark Elves revel in their suffering. They seem them as chattel to use for their pleasures. They're a contingent part of their societies though. Slave sales and drives are common in Naggaroth, and Skavenslaves are used as an expendable workforce of Skaven (thoug all Skaven see those around them as expendable, Skavenslaves are the lowest rungs of that expendability. Dawi Zharr do not view their slaves the same way as these others do: they don't see their labourers as actual people, let alone sapient, or they cognitively distort it for the purpose of expansionism and exploitation of resources. They don't see those they enslave as anything, really: a tool not unlike a drill to be used until it is unable to be, and then callously discarded. They see their slaves in the same way as the Nazis saw their camps' forced labour: a means to an end, seen with contempt, dehumanized and made as gears to fit into the grooves of their almighty industrial machine. Unlike Skavenslaves, who are seen as revolting and wanting beyond compare, or Dark Elf slaves, who are seen as amusing puppets on strings, Chaos Dwarfs have a cold, methodical, calculated approach to how they view their slaves. These are not people. These are not other races. They are an equal, though lesser tool, to a hammer, or a drill, or a train. They are nothing. They hold nothing but contempt for those that aren't Chaos Dwarfs.
Love the roster but I cannot help feel there is a major power creep with the Chaos Dwarfs. Maybe some of those abilities will get passed down to the other races?
The idea is that their individual units are extremely powerful, but the Chaos Dwarves as a faction aren’t able to field a lot of them since they’re so difficult to produce in campaign. Large portions of their armies will be made up of chaff, with a few elite units.
Shoutout to getting absolutely steamrolled by the Warriors of Chaos DLC lords if you're brave enough to pick a faction that starts near them. Or Grom if you even THINK about starting a Bretonnian campaign. I do hope CA forcus mostly on Immortal Empires, cause the normal campaign is unsalvageable at this point.
You know I sort feel like it would make sense for Druchii Lords, Heroes, Black Guard, and Harganeth Executioners to get Contempt. Would just fit the druchii mentality so well.
Bit surprising to see that the Dreadquake Mortar has 60 speed while all other artillery only has 20 speed. The model also looks more like a train car rather then a train engine.
Definitely a possibility, but people thought the same thing about Khorne when they saw the unit cards. There's always a cost that makes strong units bad choices, at least in multiplayer. In campaign, as long as they don't stream role I doubt they will be as OP as Ikkit is already
i used k'daai destroyer once since it was in my convoy but its funny how a thing of that size got stuck on a unit of infantry not bigger than its hands and couldnt get out resulting in its death
Something i noticed - despite the seeming logical fallacy, Astragoth is not classed as "large" with his mobile power chair of doom. Charge him into anti-large, he will be fine. Also, i imagine the poor CA intern who had to animate the dangling gobboz on Cinderbreath.
I still don't get why people are upset about the naming of laborers. It isn't to not offend anyone since slave units still exist in game. It's mostly to differentiate the labor vs slave mechanics. Some of y'all think everyones offended while you're the ones complaining.
@@rajatpatel8846 it wasn't mentioned in this video but has been seen on the other videos and trailers of them. The real question about balance is how (non-)restrictive the caps are, although I don't think SP should be that "balanced" in the sense that everyone's equal, I much prefer the style of everyone being bonkers in their own way. But in MP they should be in balance and that can be done with proper unit costs
@@houndofculann1793 will they have that in multiplayer too? I feel like they should have had smaller unit sizes since they are better in every way compared to dwarves
@@DmoneyS44 I'm not sure how Tomb Kings work in multiplayer since in SP they have unit caps too but in that game mode they can also easily be balanced with their price. And hopefully they are.
By sigmar... I expected the dwarfs (most unbalanced faction) with monsters and magic to be powerful but this??? THIS??? the Cdwarfs are absolutely overpowered. Makes sense that they ask for 30 euros...
I really wish they would make a good series based on Warhammer Fantasy battles universe. Now that would be really expensive for special effects and animation etc budget, so it propably should be 3d animated show. I don't know what story would be, but i just want to see as much about different species and their pov as possible, not too much regular human stuff.

I'd love to see a video comparing each chaos dwarf unit to their regular dawi counterpart, if a unit has that counterpart. For science
I can see nurgle being a piece of cake for these guys
The daemon smith axe/hammer mattock weapon looks awesome
Yo Zerk, can you redo guides to TWW1 Faction videos? we should see all the army units displayed in this ways as well as to see the changes after years
Really enjoy your army guides. Good work, my man.
My goodness your computer is magnificent. I like the chaos dwarf esthetic. They remind me of the Ottoman empire
Don't forget these units will be expensive and are unit capped. You won't be able to spam them like other factions
It's a brand new DLC. This always happens
I’m sure CA will figure out multiplayer balancing. As for campaign, who cares? Let’s have some fun campaigns steamrolling shit.
You know I sort feel like it would make sense for Druchii Lords, Heroes, Black Guard, and Harganeth Executioners to get Contempt. Would just fit the druchii mentality so well.
just noticed astragoth has soul grinder ball joints on his legs! nice touch
Man those war machines and artillery seem crazy!
Bit surprising to see that the Dreadquake Mortar has 60 speed while all other artillery only has 20 speed. The model also looks more like a train car rather then a train engine.
Me: why do people like Chaos Dwarves so much.
*Sees Doomtrain (Iron Demon + Dreadquake Mortar) and the K'daai Destroyer.*
Oh, nice!
Those trains make me get all kinds of excited.
you always do the best on these. Thank you.
Was looking forward to your army guide!
"They're slaves!" hahahahhaha Oh Zerkovich you gave me a great laugh before training today
Love that comment about the labourers
Thanks for another great video! These help me so much!! I really appreciate all the work you put into making these.
was not expecting a hero as cool as that infernal castellan
I can see these boys getting whacked with the nerf back quite soon after release as they seem very strong!
Definitely a possibility, but people thought the same thing about Khorne when they saw the unit cards. There's always a cost that makes strong units bad choices, at least in multiplayer. In campaign, as long as they don't stream role I doubt they will be as OP as Ikkit is already
@@Campfire_Bandit People are already finding ways to make them utterly broken: ua-cam.com/video/sxbu2z1vOeE/v-deo.html
They went full retro for this one, love it
Something else about the Bunderbusses. While they do have a much shorter range their attacks disrupt the enemy pretty significantly.
i think its better to think of bull centaurs as monstrous infantry like dragon ogres or minotaurs than as heavy cavalry
These guys are a pain in the ass to beat. I wish I could opt out of having to deal with factions that come with DLC I don't actually own.
Easily the most badass faction yet
thx as always ! Sometimes I wish there were more units or army's just to hear more =) perhaps for some mods ?
Just might get this game for Iron Warrior vibes I am getting from seeing their artillery.
Jesus they look OP
Holy powercreep
It's awesome though. So instead of nerfing the Chorfs CA should just buff the older factions instead.
This faction seems very heavily weighted towards anti infantry but would struggle against large units
i used k'daai destroyer once since it was in my convoy but its funny how a thing of that size got stuck on a unit of infantry not bigger than its hands and couldnt get out resulting in its death
Imagining using khrone and teaming up with chaos dwarfs and using there lamasue it would be hell for anybody who's trying to counter daemons
The armor on the snout of the Wolf Rider units keeps flexing with the models movement, and I'm finding it highly unnerving.
So many cool looking units
Something i noticed - despite the seeming logical fallacy, Astragoth is not classed as "large" with his mobile power chair of doom. Charge him into anti-large, he will be fine.
Also, i imagine the poor CA intern who had to animate the dangling gobboz on Cinderbreath.
I laughed so hard at the Choo Choo Charles reference, hell yea!
I still don't get why people are upset about the naming of laborers. It isn't to not offend anyone since slave units still exist in game. It's mostly to differentiate the labor vs slave mechanics. Some of y'all think everyones offended while you're the ones complaining.
Kinda feels like the normal dwarfs got done with this, the Chaos Dwarves can do everything they do but better
Absolutely OP faction.
exactly what i'm wondering, like the normal drawfs have got no cav and slow speed as a weak spot but these chaos drawfs are just too well rounded...
@@rajatpatel8846 They have unit caps on most of their roster so that can be a balancing factor
@@houndofculann1793 ahh i didn't notice that, yeah that'll have to do
@@rajatpatel8846 it wasn't mentioned in this video but has been seen on the other videos and trailers of them.
The real question about balance is how (non-)restrictive the caps are, although I don't think SP should be that "balanced" in the sense that everyone's equal, I much prefer the style of everyone being bonkers in their own way. But in MP they should be in balance and that can be done with proper unit costs
this has everything a dawi ever dreamed of.
now I really want to hold the enemy in a straightest line possible and drove the train through them to see how far it'll go before getting stuck
That Overseer ability isnt just for him, it woudnt say doesnt apply to summoned units if it was for self only.
They are like the normal dwarves but better. same toughness, more damage, access to magic, cavalry, artillery, flying, they have everything.
Except numbers. They have unit caps on their strong units
Makes sense that they ask for 30 euros...
iceguard melts when they saw the infernal guard with fire glaives``````
Great guide
I really wish they would make a good series based on Warhammer Fantasy battles universe. Now that would be really expensive for special effects and animation etc budget, so it propably should be 3d animated show.
I don't know what story would be, but i just want to see as much about different species and their pov as possible, not too much regular human stuff.
Wanna send Grimgor's Immortulz against The Immortals.
Black orc vengeance will be swift and terrible and a really, really fun campaign to play.
Gonna have to lean hard on meatshield tactics with no heals (for non mech) in the faction.
