Well done! You are a fine craftsmen, I enjoyed every minute of your video. Subscribed and the bell on, going to watch some of your other videos now. Very impressed with your skill!! And to see that you did it on a table without a lot of fancy tools makes it even more impressive. I would much rather watch a guy like yourself building something amazing than a guy with a million dollars worth of tools, it proves how good you truly are. Don't even listen to the negative comments, most of them are out of pure jealousy at your skill level,
A lot of experts at work here giving negative feedback... i am sure is is not the safest or best built in the world but this guy literally built it with scrap pieces using a drill and a screwdriver practically on a kitchen table.... don t get discouraged by the “experts”, everyone started somewhere and then learned to get better, keep up trying (and wear some safety equipment.😉)

Yup....the expert way to make homemade lathe machine using Industrial Tool such as : Lathe Machine, Bench Saw, Circular Saw, Drill Press, Band Sander and much more factory made Tools...
1st off; don't worry about the negative comments. Just ignore them. Personally, I think it's a pretty cool idea. Maybe just a couple changes to the base ( good, strong welds, instead of bolts), and definitely a better motor. Just some constructive criticism. I'd love to see another video of it, after the modifications are done.. Definitely a cool project.. Thanks for the video..🍻🍻👍👍
I just made a wood turning lathe powered by a drill, and thought that it was pretty useless. Made me look around for softwood to turn because I couldn't get good results with hardwood. I think using a drill might be okay if you use a couple of big bearings to separate the drill from the work you're turning. That way, you can save the drills weak bearings from axial load and get your larger bearings to provide rigidity that people are complaining about. I'm gonna try that on my lathe.
@@BrassLock the motor, gearbox and skin? That's blatantly untrue, at least for reputable brands like Makita. Which I mean, I have a few 240v's laying around from god knows, the 80s or 90s at least? They're a serviceable/repairable tool.
@@Louis-op4zj OK. I misunderstood your comment to mean that the motor from a hand drill could be taken out (like a motor from a desk fan) and used to power a lathe. But you mean to remove parts and service them. Yes, of course you can do that.
@@BrassLock if you can take it apart for service or repair. Then you can take it apart to break it down into seperate parts. Would it not stand to reason, once removed, you could then repurpose those parts. Circuitry, motor, and chuck? Then, I dunno, fashion some mounts to use the parts, without the rest of the drill. To use the mechanical/electrical drill internals, but with a better mounting set up?
You need to add gibs made from brass or a softer metal that you can put between the ways and the cross slide. That will help improve the accuracy. Great Idea. I'm going to try my own now!
This guy is a true engineer, in every sense of the word. You've made a wonderful product that will stand the test of time, but I dont think I could count the number of times you just bring out some new component that youve made by hand and all you do is indicate that this part goes on next. I mean, I think I can do about 85%-95% of everything youve done in this video, but I would have a LOT of "practice" pieces and "do-overs". Even after all of that, at the end of MY project, I would still have about a dozen things that I would just have to learn to deal with! As far as seeing a cool project video with an awesome shop product at the end of it, this video is fanastic! But if you're looking to build your own lathe and don't have a ton of experience, maybe just start smaller or look elsewhere!
@10:02, I can see your Katar :) Are you a Punjabi my friend? By the way you have amzing skills with drill machine, its almost impossible for me to drill such perfect 90 degree holes free hand.

I am almost Certain that this comment will only get more anger from the people I spoke of , But that's to be expected. I hope that if it even reaches just one person an shows them ,.... Then its worth it. This evil hate has infected a whole lot of people , You see it in the comment section like here for an example . And people got along so much better ! Just look at how well behaved the children were back then !!! Can't people see we have changed for the worse !?!? The only people that can fix this is us ! Our government can't fix it and they don't want to either !! What if people just took 20 minutes to look at the way people of the early 1900"s acted ? What if we figured out we are slowly killing each other off ? what if we changed back to the way people acted back in the early 1900"s ? Ask yourself this ,.. Do you like the way people are today ? Do you trust anyone ? Good luck and God bless.
Thank you for the video and idea! I have some broken Dewalt 20v grinders. Ill have to dig around over the next week or two and gather parts etc but I am going to build on your idea with 20V cordless and see how it does. Be nice to have for turning or little parts on the various job sites.
Satsriyakal. The idea is great and very simple, I liked it, but I think prolonged use of the drill will burn up the armature. It would be better if you installed a sewing machine motor and a small lathe chuck
Ok there plenty of other better ways to build this but I think it's very well done with what equipment and metal the lad had to start with . I say well done my friend !
Impressive what you built with so little tools, but designs not so good, because too much strain on drill, that drill chuck and bearings are gonna be gone within a week of use, if not sooner. You need to figure a way to support that drill chuck, and remove working pressure from it. Still a thumbs up!
Great build brothers, you can upgrade your DIY lathe machine by using half hp power motor with a pully gear and a bigger drill chuck ( 20mm or more Chuck )
Muy buen trabajo, solo le veo una pega, y es que faltan las medidas, no Se qué problema tiene con ponerlas, me imaginó que será por querer cobrarlas y por mi parte muy mal- Very good job, I only see one drawback, the measurements are missing, I don't know what problem you have with putting them in, I figured it was because you wanted to charge for them and on my part it was very bad
Hmmm, ingenious, but that welding, it’s a wonder all the chatter didn’t have the welds fly apart. And that precision bearing treatment at the end, certainly gave it a thorough working over with the persuader....
