Hey, Machinist of a huge 34ton 5 Axis here... I´ve never seen something like this, congrats man! Amazing how you turn alloy on that little thing btw. I was pretty sure it wouldn´t work due to the fact that the material you are turning is WAY harder than your PVC machine... Not talking about a steel build machine cutting titanium but cutting alloy with a PVC-Machine, really amazing!! To be honest my thinkings first where going from "tolerance left the building" to much more as you can imagine as a pro... But this wouldn´t show the respect you are entitled for! You showed that ANY hobbyist with enough interest is able to build a lathe for home use and small projects. Really nice! 🙂 From my pro perspective a toy of course, even all the alloy mills are toys for me... But to say it again - RESPECT man, i´m sure your ideas are helping lots of hobbyists on this planet, and that alone is enough to make you a very fine man that understood life, which is about community, sharing and bringing us all closer together ♥ Thank you for this amazing video! Much love from Austria man, Christian
Пусть у тебя всегда все получается отлично! Главное в твоих изделиях не их прочность и долговечность, а то что ты настоящий инженер! Удачи с наилучшими пожеланиями😊
When you are using the miter gauge and the fence to cut long pieces on the table saw (at 1:54) it is advisable to clamp a short stop block to the fence. The block should be near the front of the fence, well before the blade. You would slide the work piece left until it touched the stop block, not the fence, then hold it firmly against the miter gauge or cross-cut sled as you push it through the blade. This allows you to use the fence to make lots of equal length cuts, but also allow extra room between the fence and blade so the cut piece can't get bound up and thrown back at you.
Another solution is to turn the material side of the saw table into a sliding bed, with a fixture and arc to make miters. I agree with using a stop block and not having your cut off squeezed between a fence and blade. That said, it's going to rely upon there being sufficient room under the surface for the drawer slides, which suggests making sure that the motor is on the other side, or driven from outside of the cabinet. In any case, both projects look great.

made with a range of his other "well-made toys". Lets be realistic here, for the type of stuff he makes, this is perfect! Yes it would be useless on traditional lathe materials, such as wood, but it's perfect for the type of things he will be using it for, especially considering that by going with DC, it means he can make it all himself without an electrician or risk of severe electrocution, due to the far lower power output
Now all you need is a compound slide and a tail stock and your really in business. Kool project. Imagine if you had thicker PVC stock AND a Bridgeport 🤙🏻
This DIY project showcases an exceptional level of craftsmanship, accuracy, aesthetics, and simplicity, along with clear and precise instructions for creating this invaluable tool, well done 👍
