“So to solve the problem I didn’t solve the problem, I just avoided it.”
I’ve never related more to something in my life than this statement.
Before I read your comment: "I did that on my first playthrough :-D"
After I read your comment: "I do that in my life D-:"
Me: "I have a problem"
Me after watching this video: "Don't worry about it"
Problem solved
procrastination to obliteration
The Ostrich Protocol😅
Here's the real version - thanks to people who let me know the earlier one had no sound - appreciate it :)
Thanks mate, been waiting for an upload
I tried for 3 minutes to fix my earphones then I saw the video went private lol
lol i thought my phone was freaking out XD
Why aren't you making 30-40 min long videos? It would fit you so well
@@yellowtunes2756 - he does. Checkout his VOD channel for his longform content.
10:58 This moment is my magnum opus as a video editor.
May it be the first of many
*magnum anus
The whole video was great, I wasn't ready for the cliffhanger
Made me bust out laughing so hard I pulled a muscle in my side. Beautiful work.
You're the new editor? I love your style, no offense to Ambiguous, but I find him a little bit boring, and your style make his content so much better! Looking forward to more
0:15 in a renaissance mural with examplary use of perspective and symmetry, a frog forgot to center a gear.
It's performance art of course
It's obviously a subtle reference to the fact that the "F" on the game's opening loading screen is a single pixel taller than all the other letters... or something.
AA is the father of ambiguity
I see how your brain expand with every day 🐸
Wow, two uploads in one day! You're really pumping these out.
Lol fixed :)
@ambiguousamphibian We all make mistakes, man. I can't wait to watch it as soon as I'm done with the 4 hour Jenny Nielson video on Starwars park.
AA - I hate to backseat game, but I'd really recommend getting yourself a belt balancer book or look up how to make them. It'll change your life, especially at the loading/unloading stations of trains.
That's just being nice and helpful. Backseat gaming would be all " DO THINGS MY WAY OR YOU'RE BAD AT THIS GAME. BRO YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW THIS WORKS? PFFF JUST FOLLOW HOW I TELL YOU AND YOU'LL WIN- " - but giving them a tiny piece of info that doesn't spoil the game or ruin their experience is still just being nice.
Appreciated
@@ambiguousamphibian Thanks for the response, may your factory grow ever larger
Belt balancers are waste of time, all you need to make a full belt off a cargo wagon is a T junction. Since inserters will almost always, depending on orientation, put the item on the right side of the belt you can just use a T. What i mean is on a line of 6 inserters, 3 belts are pointing to the middle, on the other side you have 2 and the belt in the middle is pointed away, like this >>>^
@@nonotorious1467 that doesn't prevent uneven loading for multiple wagons, hence the belt balancer
Man, wait until he finds out the green button on the right of his toolbar is an auto upgrade selecting tool that his builder bots will take care of replacing belts and such with.
If he reads this. Ambi! It acts like an item so you can put it in your inventory and save for later. With it in your inventory, you can right click it and select specific upgrades instead of a general "upgrade everything"! Then, bang boom, as long as it's in the logi range the bots will take care of the rest.
I love how he says "youre in my game now" like they are now physically trapped within the game rather than just getting shoutouts lol
The Spidertron Fleet is great, sure. But, the automated artillery outpost is art ⚔
I’ve been watching your content for a really long time but I don’t think I’ve ever commented on any of your videos because Im more of a hard lurker, but for some reason right now I m strongly compelled to tell you I love your stuff so totally and completely and it always makes me feel real good watching it. thanks, man.
Man, as a factorio player with over 1k hours, is so fun watching you just spagetthi your way to arty. Check out Doshdoshington's videos, ,he has a few tutorials on trains and circuit, and his other challenges are really cool, like a beltless base or sushi everything
Glad to see you playing this again. Some simple suggestions:
-Instead of replacing belts by hand, use the upgrading tool on the hotbar.
-A huge benefit of the spiderton is that it can be controlled remotely; this allows you to use to for offense, defense, or construction, depending on how you fit it out.
-Be mindful of the extreme power requirements of laser turrets, especially as you're still using steam engines for power. You may want to invest in accumulators to ease the effects of power demand spikes from the turrets.
I've never played this game, but I can already tell this game's too smart for me.
It’s such a good game. I recommend.
Try it! you can turn off bugs to learn. Game starts very simple, and you learn step by step, plus there are TONS grrat resources if you get stuck. This youtuber Nilaus is very good for example
Also you will need a few hundred hours just to get into it lol just a heads up
The demo is free on Steam, even that has like 10 hours of game-play! But if you enjoy the first 3 - 5 hours, I recommend you to jump to freeplay (maybe with biters on a peaceful mode, or totally absent). After a few hundred hours you'll get a hang on what is going on. But every sub-optimal solution is still a solution, and brings you satisfaction.
Don't do it. This game is Crack on steroids. You will be lost to the factory
Creating an artillery train schedule is single handedly the most impressive thing ive ever yet witnessed
THANK YOU FOR THE DROP AMBIGUOUS FROG MAN. YOU ALLOW ME TO BE SUSTAINED FOR ANOTHER FLEETING MOMENT.
You okay man?
New ambiguousamphibian video is uploaded? Day is instantly better. TWO new videos??? This is the best day of the week!!! Thank you for your wonderful content you put out, never ceases to give me a laugh or smile!!!!
I absolutely love the "I have no idea what I'm doing" energy. Can't wait for part 3!
How did you live without electric furnaces for so long, you had to make them for purple science anyway. Not needing to deal with coal makes the game so much simpler
if they continue to power the base with steam from coal, steel furnaces burning coal directly are about twice as power efficient as electric furnaces. Electric furnaces make more sense if he utilizes cleaner energy sources or wants to harness the power of modules
AA and Nilaus?
I never thought I'd live to see the day.
Finally the audio update 😂
Nilhaus probably loves your train lines wriglyness 😂🙏🏻
ambiguous, i remember one trick i used to do back then was making a belt balancer on my bus every few blocks, that way when one line starting fisslinging out, it would all get equal again, and it's quite small
"now you can do better"
Unlikely. Playing Factorio for me consists of: build with absolutely no understanding of logistics or ideas of the necessary resources to beat the game, play for 6-10 hours in one sitting, pour my brain out of my ears and go to bed, wake up with a new brain, look at game, my new brain has forgotten how to follow the nonsense of my base, I quit.
sounds like my civilization cycle. but add just one more turn to those 6-10 hours
If I could, I'd recommend the mod "Helmod". It's super useful if you can figure out the UI. Basically a recipe calculator. For example, if you set it up right, it will tell you exactly how many Stone Furnaces you need to fully saturate a yellow belt with Iron Plates (which happens to be 48 Stone Furnaces, giving you 15 plates per second; And 30 Electric Miners to supply the ore). It helped me finally beat the game. Another mod I'd recommend is Time Controls, which gives you RTS-like time controls, among other features. Really helps when you only have a couple hours to play but you have to sit and watch yourself handcraft 200 Science Packs
Bro is using yellow underground belts and splitters as virtual speed brakes on his red and blue belt lines, and wondering why throughput isnt increasing.
9:18 he's actually still using yellow splitters on his new Nilaus-powered blue pressure belt, so he's still not getting more than yellow belt speeds in the end.
Watching you play Factorio reminded me of Oxygen not Included, which has some similar game mechanics. I would love to see your strat on keeping everyone alive whenever you get the time! It would be super exciting to watch you play 🐸✨
The belt system at your train depo gives me anxiety.
Literal days of Space Exploration has changed me
2:55 Oh god, that blueprint. Those wires. "improved" sure is a word that can be used to describe what just happened there.
Spidertrons get a lot stronger when you build multiple, and fill up their equipment grid with personal lasers. You can remote control them and shift+click them across the map while you do other things, which means you can suddenly be in dozens of places at once.
As for the power problems, one pump supplies 20 boilers. Use separate pipe networks. If multiple water pumps are flowing through a single pipe, it dramatically limits the throughput to basically only a single pump.
The two most exciting moments in every Factorio playthrough: bots and artillery.
your voice and humor always hit my funny bone just right thank you ambiguousamphibian
This is both painful and nostalgic to me at the same time.
I'm experiencing such love-hate with this content, that I can't help myself but watch it.
Looking forward to the next 100 days!
Can't wait to see him go though another 100 days in Cracktorio
The thumbnail made me think you were calling Australia a death island. Which makes sense now that I'm writing this
You mean it's not?
@@ambiguousamphibian i live here, ignore this man for he is wrong, now i gotta go shore up my own defensive walls
12:21 "one human/amphibian death is a tragedy. A million biter deaths is a transaction"
You should record an audiobook. Your voice is really soothing.
I stand by my claim that Spidertron is fun. Not only the missile barrage but the personal laser turret spam on your powered armor to mow them down. "Variety is the spice of death!" Add remote controls + a small army of Spidertrons to follow you and your arty wagons = extermination bliss.
True feeling of power is to take out the green thingy, the upgrade tool, putting it into inventory, right clicking it, then selecting yellow belts on left into red or blue belts on the right, doing same with underground's and splitters finally saving it... Then you hold this custom upgrader and drag it on entire base... Then watch as construction bots change your base while you continue to procrastinating on the next science like always.
I feel like the last time I really researched Factorio boilers worked for 3 steam engines, but glad to know it's actually 2, that would explain why my most recent world is having power problems
10:15 Even if the spidertron was just a chair with legs, it'd still be my favorite thing in the game.
A A. Please use the upgrade planner! The green box next to your blueprint book on the bottom right of the toolbar. You can customise what belts/inserters you want to upgrade/downgrade, drag it over your base and let the bots do all the work if you have the robo ports covering the areas needed.
Thankyou for making these videos they cheer me up so much! Rightnow I’m in the hospital trying to get better and your videos always keep me entertained and company more please!
YEAHHHHUH AUDIO
The shear thought of playing without a belt balancer blueprint packs makes me want to play in traffic 💀 Ambiguous please look up blue print packs whenever you play Factorio next it'll help your mental health 😂😂
spider-bot is definitaley one of my favourite methods of traversal in any video game
Oof. Some tips:
1. You can overbuild steam power ridiculously yet only use as much as needed by piping all of the steam to a single tank, connecting it to all of the inserters, and finally setting inserters to only trigger if a set amount of steam is left, incrementing the amount as you move down the line. (Personally, I jump by 2,000 per set of four.) That will minimize the amount of fuel you use and pollution you produce, as it will only create as much steam as you need for your power consumption.
2. *NEVER* give repair kits to construction bots on the wall defenses. What will happen is they will try to fix the walls as they are being damaged and end up getting destroy, themselves. You will usually only realize this when you notice that a lot of your stuff is being destroyed and the defense roboports have no more bots left. Instead, just have a train deliver replacement walls/etc. as needed. If you place your roboports as far back from your walls as possible, by the time the bots bring up the replacements, the biters will have been dealt with and your bots won't take any damage.
3. *ALWAYS* use 'dragon's teeth' on your defenses to confuse biter pathing. It should extend from your wall out to a couple of squares shy of your turrets' range. You'll be amazed at how little damage they will take.
4. Fluids can be balanced by a simple circuit setup where you set up buffer tanks for each fluid, and then set up pumps on the input and output side of each line. The input pump should only trigger if you have a minimum amount of that fluid. (I use 5,000.) The output pump(s) should only trigger if that fluid is less than a maximum. (I use 20,000.) Once you have it set up, you can basically forget your fluid production for the rest of the game, as it will never get plugged up.
5. Using a buffer setup--where you have inserters put your output into chests and then other inserters pull from the chests and put the output back on a belt--at the exit of every line will help keep flow up if you don't need the full output of a line all of the time. It will also give you a handy place to pull supplies from.
6. Grab yourself a 'Belt Balancer' blueprint book. It's okay. All of the cool kids are using them. 1-1/2-2/etc. lane balancers can be sprinkled wherever your main or mining bus is getting lopsided.
7. Using the 'Factory Planner' or 'Helmod' mods to figure out optimal ratios for factory lines is pretty much necessary if you don't want to end up pulling your hair out. Another great option is the 'FactorioLabs' website, which allows you to ask exciting questions like "How many blue circuits can I make if I can only reliably supply it with a single yellow belt of green circuits." (The depressing answer will be left as an exercise for the reader.)
Cheers!
"Fluid, it's too complicated"
Yes. Yes it is, I hate it.
Would love to see you and DoshDoshington do a Factorio Collab... Sadly, i doubt it will ever happen. Then again, i'd love to see him collab with anyone else on Factorio.
This was truly a resourceful and productive narration
oh yes! and plz try a 30 minute one for this. think that would go well. :) have a good night!
I felt the confusion in this one, specifically at the point that were too confused to even be able to tell us exactly what was going wrong lmao
Sticking artillery on a train only to landfill tracks into the ocean is just making a battleship with extra steps.
I've only been able to set up oil with circuits.
Really good first exercise for circuits, and it's super worth while.
@ambiguousamphibian Loving the Series! 😂this and The universanbox sim :D when is the next Part? :D
I honestly have to say this was great. Amazing video, I really enjoyed it
So…. I never saw when this got uploaded and it popped up last night so I was like woot! Let’s watch this while I go to bed. Your tones put me fast to sleep and this and the next video played to their conclusion. So I am back again stronger to make this journey again
Spidertrons are good because they are one of the only ways to automate the destruction of biter nests. (spidertrons can be suplied by and hold robots, in addition to accepting commands at range to destroy nests without occupying the spidertron in queston)
Great video! The factory must grow!
4:37 Hey
My Man G. W. Made an Amphib Cameo
Adorable Vibe
Dude I have missed you playing factorio and rimworld so much. If you love me then please do another rimworld series
Ah yes upgrading belts so the empty gaps can get to your starved assemblers faster.
“Honey come quick and bring the fine china! AA just uploaded another Factorio video”
You should try the tiberium mod, plane mods and the nuke mods. Its always fun drive-by bombing biter nests with a 50 kiloton bomb so large it will freeze the game for 50 seconds while it calculates all the craters and fires it starts a good 25 fully zoomed out map screens away from ground zero.
I wrecked a few base by accident underestimating the blast zone.
And no, it does not make the game easier, if you also use Rampant and other crazy enemy mods.
Martin : gives factory. Community: wants Finland
Martin : gives Finland. Community: wants factory
Let the factory grow!!!!!!!!
thank you amphibian man who posts dank content
Yay my ears came back!
Finally the factory expands once again!
Having nearly 5.5k hours in the game watching this is amazing.
AA has more fortitude than me. When i got to endgame and was confronted with just how inefficient my factory designs and belt management were, i gave up and went fully into drones.
my factory became a grey goo scenario, producing endless logistics drones who further fed the production of more logistics drones. limited only by the staggeringly huge ammouts of charging stations until i blotted out the sun in dromes.
The screaming women and children was too funny. I shouldn't eat while watching him I always choke
The biters crave the flame, and the Amphibian shall deliver
the whistle of the skies screech for their swift and rapid *death*
This tingles my tonsils and soothes my soul, thank you
5:40 this is why i cant play without the Flare Stack mod, just burn off the excess, just like real oil refineries.
Fluids seem impossible until you remember circuits are a thing. Then you have the new problem of having to deal with circuits. Alternatively, solve the problem not with circuits and just avoid the problem!
Lmao, if you wanna use spidertron better, fill your suit with lasers because they can fire out, then you can use more shield and legs on spidertron. Or just fill it with nuke rockets.
I'm not very good at Factorio, but watching this series makes me feel so much better about my slow-going megabasing efforts. 10/10 would ramble about belt balancers to my monitor again
EDIT: and about spider lattices, which are imho the secret to efficient and safe spidertron attacks. just blueprint some landfill tiles in a pattern that can allow spiders (and players if you value pragmatism more than honor rules) to pass freely while biters have to take the long way around the shoreline.
You’ve never beaten Factorio before this? You play it a lot
Finally after years of waiting worth IT
The factory must grow
Love this series!
This reminds me of one of those cooking videos where things just keep getting worse and worse. Still loved the video but I feel like if I went by frame by frame and tried to explain what was wrong I'd have a hard time because its difficult to talk and scream at the same time.
Great video, been eagerly awaiting it :)
Playing Factorio and Nilaus is an inevitability!
Oh man seeing a yellow inserter on a blue belt causes me physical pain
How good is that feeling when you finally figure something out and it works!! :D
Plus the ones where you really pounded your head on the wall figuring out. That's stuff you will never forget about ever.
Good cliffhanger; I'm excited for more
Great video! Can't wait to see you try Satisfactory next.
Any chance we'll be seeing any more horrifying RimWorld challenges?
You need too..... Enhance its (Spidertron's) movement speed with as many exo-legs as you can then equip it a full complement of nuke launchers.... :)
well i dont know, CAN YOU? xD maybe if you said may i, id be more inclined
if ya really wanna learn how to use Spidertrons in this game, i recommend watching Michael Hendricks' 1000 Days on a Deathworld
@ambiguousamphibian You should really give the Minecraft Creat mod a try, basically Factorio in Minecraft.
Cool music choices!
I love you unambiguously.
Ah yes the ambiguousamphibian with another ambiguous video title.
at least one frog has heard factorio's call...
Oh no there is an upgrade planner, poor guy.
Amazing Video

Just so short
