Really surprised you don't cover what an amazing composer she was!

I remember something about how Clara didn't like English culture, i think she said they were rude, but she still performed and taught there because 💰💰

Clara Wieck is almost unknown in music world, yet a great artist and pianist... Better musician probably than her husband Robert...

I just cant believe she called Liszt’s Sonata in B Minor a “blind noise”!!

She definitely had some STRONG opinions about other composers of the time!

She was a musical reactionary. Hated the music of Liszt and Wagner.

When two composers love each other very much....
    Incredible music is born.

Another cool female composer is Barbara Strozzi, although idk if her life is as interesting as Clara's for a video

Errr no idea if you still read comments on old videos, but Fanny Mendelssohn was pretty awesome too. Some debate about which of her brother's pieces are secretly hers (for example, the Easter Sonata was thought to be Felix's, but was later confirmed to be by Fanny). She also performed and conducted, although sadly she wasn't as lucky as Clara to have her husband's support in being a public figure and thus faded as Felix came to the fore.

Oh yeah, and their grandfather was Moses Mendelssohn, one of the foremost Jewish scholars of the 18th century. Pretty cool family.

Fanny sounds like an awesome person to make a video about. I will definitely add her to the list for upcoming videos. Thanks for the suggestion!

@@emmaghows3841 always had the fantasy she wrote the violin concerto that’s so very popular today

    What about Brahms??

Oh my! There was plenty of rumors but I couldn't find anything concrete on the relationship between Clara and Brahms, so I didn't include it in the video. But if you know about some solid evidence that I missed, please let me know.

@@Oddquartet if you’re talking about whether they “did it”, we will never know, but it doesn’t really matter-they had a profound personal and artistic relationship that spanned over 4 decades. Yes, it was worth a mention.

Thank you for making something interesting and appropriate that I can actually show to music students. (Why does every other history video have to sound like a posh science project?)

It makes me wonder if her husband Robert borrowed from her talent. You never know.

She was actually musically conservative and made all sorts of “corrections” to Robert’s piano music that had to be restored later.
