Wunderbar!
It's when you have played all the hardest standard repertoire, ballades, kreislerianes and appassionatas of the world, you settle down with something simple and beautiful because you know: you don't have to prove yourself anymore.
I get what you mean but at high levels there's basically no such thing as "settling". The best always make easy pieces hard, and they work to almost perfection to make it sound easy
I agree with so many of the comments, this is truly amazing. She's brought something new and exciting to an old friend. It's so crisp and clean and so beautifully played.
I've never heard this played so sympathetically and wise. The final movement's evolution to silence is worth all the years' listening I've done to hear this played this way. Thank you, Ms. Poon.
Thank you for this concert! I was there in June and I really loved her concert and the emotions she brought to the audience! Tiffany Poon is such a good pianist
Track 10 is my favorite. I never listened to much of Schumann before Tiffany and have followed her journey on youtube and enjoy her vlogs and she is really inspring.
These pieces are close to my heart. They have so much emotional depth. It has always been a question of scholars whether or not they should be played by students. In my piano studies I quit playing etudes and undertook to learn these pieces, taking one a week. I don't think I've ever learned more from a single work. Even though now I am playing much more technically demanding work they remain some of my favorite music. They have so much to teacher in voicing, score interpretation and musical form. Every student should play these.
I understand they are meant for adults as a musical means to reflect on childhood. They exist purely for their musical content. Horowitz, Argerich, Kempff and many other great pianists understood this.
a truely inspiring performance... I love the way how gently she makes all these pieces her own but still keeps the spirit of Schumann alive. Wonderful. Familiar but fresh! GREAT! no.7 and no.12 are truely magic!!!
So beautifull and so gentle how you play this piece. Never ever heard of Robert Schumann before since i follow you on you tube. About now i am a huge fan of this great composer. Also i am so glad i could see you perform for real last concert in Amsterdam, wow and wow never will forget this day. Keep on playing this beautifull music Tiffany and hope to see you again soon peforming more dead people music 😆
Der Dichter spricht, the last part, has always been my favorite; it never gets old. Schumann is my favorite composer. We are fortunate to have Tiffany here in New York City. 🙂
Another inspired -- and inspirational -- Schumann performance, Tiffany! Your work here, as in the Davidsbundlertanz, demonstrates a deep and abiding connection you clearly have with Schumann. Clara would be a bit jealous, I think! Many "bravas"! 👏😉
Subline. Thanks DW Music for another amazing performance, and especially the thoroughly written about the composer, the work, the musician. This is better than even what record companies would do in providing the credits to all involved. Great performance by Ms Poon. She is another example of Hong Kong born Chinese American that achieves great thing in life through hard work and dedication. The subtle significance is her family came to US in 1996, just before the transfer of Hong Kong by the British back to the Communist China in 1997.
I love your performance of this masterpiece. I have taught myself many of the sections but have yet to play them nearly as beautifully as you do, and I have not worked "Hasche Mann" up to speed- finding it very challenging to do that!
I love Kinderszenen. I have had the joy of hearing Hélène Grimaud playing them at the Music Center in Los Angeles. As a French immigrant, it’s not so easy to admit, but this is better. The best interpretation that I have heard.
I think the Kinderszene < Glückes genug > is in D-Major ( the following one is A-Major and them all start off in G-Major... ...and Mama Joana is probably glad to see that I won't fail on pitch I dare modestly to say... And please get me out... ...so that there ain't no variation necessary - of Glückes genug > that turns minor... Le p'tit Daniel, Mama Joana makes me a winner... ...from breakfast to dinner ( ...ex brevitate what makes me apart from music some happy kid ( to be continued the way this sentence emerged yesterday with Mama Lita... )).
I noticed that as well. But I think it actually makes her look a little stiff. I’m not suggesting her very upright posture is wrong or affects her playing in a negative way, but she’s more “stiff” looking than most professional pianists I’ve seen
@@bloodgrss you can be blind to, but can't evade, her pretentiousness if she resorts to displaying visual showmanship to bolster her second-rated playing.
@@Deechimlew You would really have hated Liszt. But are you sure you are commenting on the right video? I see very little 'visual showmanship'. Pianists need to move more than just their fingers.
