Unbreakable strength, quick slash, mark of pride, and unbreakable heart. I usually replace unbreakable heart with soul catcher if I need to use spells a lot.
On no! Why did I not take that opportunity to say that?!? I thought about it at the start of the video and forgot at the end. Maybe I’ll update the description
I like using sharp shadow quick slash, and wayward compass. With this build, I shade cloak behind enemies while dealing some extra damage and go wild with a pure nail and quick slash on their back. And wayward compass because wayward compass.
Here is my Hit 'n Run build: - Runmaster - Sprintmaster - Sharp Shadow - Unbreakable Strength OR fast focus - Nailmaster's Glory - Unbreakable Masks OR both Gathering Swarm and Wayward compass, which is more useful when you explore. You can use it everywhere since you can explore because it's fast, deal a TON of damage if you're into Nail Arts like me, and occasionally dash through enemies like Hornet in pantheons, Grey Prince Zote or Traitor Lord. Give it a try! :D
i actually used joni's blessing when fighting nightmare king grimm i found that the time it takes to heal greatly incapacitates you during such a fast paced fight and it's better if you go for an offensive build instead
Yeah when you feel like the boss is low or your on their second phase it’s better to just go all out instead of healing, would be dumb to die trying to heal while the boss was 1 vengeful spirit away but you used that soul to try to heal instead
2:35 actually joni`s blessing only give you 4 extra masks so its better to use lifeblood core and have 1 extra notch to any other charm it will be better for it to use thorns of agony
I have my own favorite variation of the first two nail builds (quickslash, Mark of pride, long nail, nailmasters glory, and steady body.) Its super fun to use because of how fast and easy it is to hit enemies, and you can just spam nail on them. I have the nailmasters glory just because great slash specifically is just fun to use in general. It's the build I usually have while I'm just wandering around the map, but it can be really good for other specific activities as well, like the colosium of fools.
I'm really liking these charm build videos. My favorite was the ninja one. Looks useful and alot of fun. Also I really like the face cam. How's the new computer. Your streams have been alot smoother.
New computer is great. Streams are smoother because of 2 things. New computer AND new internet. Super glad to hear you are liking the charm building videos
My go-to build is Unbreakable Strength, Quick Slash, Spell Twister, and Shaman Stone. It's what I use for Pantheons and just running around (though I usually replace Spell Twister with Wayward Compass and Dream Wielder when I'm running around). Hot Take: Dream Wielder should just be how the Awakened Dream Nail works
That’s what makes this game so amazing , it has more depth and passion into it then I think any AAA TITLE I’ve played in past 2 years since I think Zelda botw is only other game I can compare in depth and polish and just passion from the developers that is clearly seen in every inch of the world and lore.
I like grubberfly elegy, fury of the fallen, quick slash, and unbreakable strength. Another one is sharp shadow, dash master, nail masters glory, sprint master, quick slash, and long nail
Lol sorry if I'm a bit late, I just started playing Hollow Knight about a month ago and your videos have been really helpful! I accidentally made the Summoner's charm combo a while ago and it had me dead xD I was like O mah gawd I made little shits!!..Whaa they even blow up :D
Grubberfly + quickslash + unbreakable strength + heavy blow is how I beat trial of the fool. Replace quickslash with the 3-slot lifeblood, or heavy blow with the 2-slot lifeblood if you want. The main thing is that you're always defensive over offensive so that you don't compromise your main strength. I don't use the lifebloods because I find heavy blow to be better at keeping enemies away than the lifebloods are at tanking.
The last two on the charm build with thorns, spore, quick focus, grub song and defender you should add shape of unn to walk around while shooting spores.
surprised this isnt mentioned. well idk if its very optimal but this is my default setup shaman stone, Strength, Quick Slash spell twister. basically strong nail damage and spell damage.
For exploration, any combos of Mark of Pride, Quick Slash, Compass, Longnail, Shaman Stone, Dream Wielder, and Sprintmaster. Boss build is Mark Of Pride, Quick Slash, Dream Wielder, Longnail, Shaman Stone, and either Soul Catcher or Spell Twister.
No, sprintmaster only affects the normal walking speed of the knight and the speed of the weaversong. Only quick focus affects the movement speed of slug/snail knight.
another charm build i'd recommend is one i call the 'parry build' you want bouldour shell, thorns of agony and quick focus. this will allow you to focus right before taking damage, letting you use the shell to trigger thorns of agony
Glass cannon build - grubberfly elegy, fury of the fallen, unbreakable strength, and Mark of pride. Also sit on a spike til 1 hp left. Because of fury of the fallen grubberfly will reactivate at 1 hp. You end up doing massive damage but 1 hit an your done. I find this one best mainly for the delicate flower quest since one hit kills your flower.
What I usually go with when adventuring is: 1. Unbreakable Strength 2. Mark of Pride 3. Shaman Stone 4. Wayward Compass (ik we joke about it but I can't go anywhere w/o getting lost) 5. Grubsong / Gathering Swarm (gotta get those Divine charms) When fighting bosses, I switch out Wayward Compass and Grubsong / Gathering Swarm for Unbreakable Heart
My favorite charm build is one I made myself and it has shaman stone, lifeblood core, and gathering swarm with wayward compass. It’s a charm build for people who are not very far in the game
Build: Sadism Weaversong, grubsong, spore shroom, defender's crest, quick focus, shape of unn. just keep dodging most bosses and heal periodically to slowly watch almost any boss die from passive damage, even leaves extra slots to optimize your charms for minimizing damage/maximizing evasion based on the boss.
My personal fav build: Unbreakable Strength, Quick Focus, Spell Twister, Nailmaster's Glory, Grubsong, Dream Wielder (alt. swap out last two for Sharp Shadow). Great all-around build, improves upon all of your combat mechanics and you'll seldom find yourself without a usable amount of SOUL when you need it most.
Quick focus, shape of unn, baldurs shell, defenders crest, shrooms spore, thorns of agony. Become a tank when you heal. One of my favorite fun builds ever
I don't know what to call it but I found this charm build today: thorns of agony, quick slash, unbreakable strength and shaman Stone, this charm build allows me to go nuts on bosses and quickly win
Eyy thanks for featuring the squad build. Personally instead of Defender's crest and spore shroom I use mark of pride so I can fight with my minions instead just sitting back and let them do all the work.
Early on there is not too much to be honest. Use any charms that you can get your hands on that fit your playstyle. Just like any game, you usually dont become over powered or get the best stuff until much later
@@RelyeaGaming Longnail/steady body actually helped me out quite a lot as a beginner, it's so hard to know where you'll fall when hitting airborne enemies. with steady body and longnail you can just whack wherever you want and stay stationary. Cheap and beginner friendly, only 420 geo after greenpath. It actually helped me our with the Mantis Lords so I didn't slap myself into the one coming from behind sometimes.
My go to build is strength, quickslash, and shaman stone. The build is based almost entirely on offensive power but you can play defensively with it as well.
i don’t know what to call it so i’ll call it joni’s elegy, as you can guess it’s joni’s blessing and grubfly’s elegy but i also put in dreamsheild or quick slash and then nailmaster’s glory
I think you should have used the flukenest charm in the last built, more because in this way you are summoning a creature than anything else, it also mixes well with defender crest
I know I'm coming to the party late, but played this last year for the first time and it's one of the best games I've played in a long while -- at least in the Metroidvania department. Got a few Switch games on deck, but once I'm through them I plan to revisit HK maybe with a strategy guide so I can get all the charms and try them out. As a rule I never look up anything online when first playing through a game.
My favorite is unbreakable strength, quick slash, mark of pride, nail master charm, and then you have one slot left for whatever I like thorns, grub song or over charmed shaman stone
My loadout is micro pride long nail heavy blows and Quick slash Before when I didn’t have a quick slash I would add on steady body and compass and gardening swarm
Nail arts aren’t mentioned much in this video, but are extremely useful in the trial, as they one-hit primal aspids, the death-oobles, the volt twister and mage people. I am horrible with them though, so I used a max range max damage nail build instead and completed it. I would prefer either of these to the warlock build because of the segments where there is no ground(some of the hardest segments) during which your weaverlings will be useless and it is almost impossible to play defensive.
pride of the stinky boy, aka the atomic fartbomb snail - a hilarious AoD build (i just wish it would change the focus sound effect too) defenders crest + spore shroom + deep focus + shape of unn pairs nicely with flukenest for extra grossness, but also sprintmaster, quickfocus or baldur's shell
Hey, you missed a secret room. Its after dung defender at the tank thing that removes the acid of the grove. You needs to dive through the ground. You CAN NOT see that the ground is fragile. The room contains a kings idol (I think)
A really really tryhard combo is the elegy with the fury of the fallen. We all know that the elegy only works when you are full health BUT with the fury of the fallen it also works when we have only 1 lifemask and the elegy slash effect turns red and it deals double damage, which is a lot. But again of course we are at 1 hp so it's extremely risky
I use a nail/spell hybrid build: Unbreakable Strength, Shaman Stone, Soul Catcher + For exploration: Wayward Compass, Dream Wielder, Nailmaster For Colo/bosses: Long Nail, Dream Wielder/Long Nail, Nailmaster/Mark of Pride (depending on the fight)
My build is like the 14th but I leave the defender’s crest sometimes, because the explosion tange hide the enemies, I put the thorns of agony and the Stalwart shell so if I get hitted I can damage the enemy for some seconds and run away while my minions do a lot of damage.
I usually use unbreakable strength, quick slash, quick focus, shape of unn which allows me to deal heavy damage real quick while being able to heal in the mid fight I sometimes switch quick focus and shape of unn for shaman stone and spell twister to be really good at fighting with both sword and magic
My favorite charm build for exploring is quick slash unbreakable strength mark of pride compass and grubsong but for fighting I like quick slash unbreakable strength mark of pride and stalwart shell
If you have Joni's blessing equipped together with the grubberfly elegy, do you always shoot beams? Because technically, since you can't heal when you take damage you're always full masks
I personally suck at using spells and nail arts, so what I use is Unbreakable Strength and Heart, Mark of Pride, and Quick Slash, then I just tank a bunch of damage and heal after fights
Dash master, sprintmaster, sharp shadow, quickslash and shaman stone is my go-to charm set, high mobility while dishing out good damage, i'd add a 1 notch but i dont have all charm notches i think
my charm build is kinda like a warrior style build. I got mark of pride, quick focus, sharp shadow, grubsong, and either thornes of agony or wayward compass depending on what I am doing.
I like to use what I call the Pantheon Buster combo, which is Strength, Quick Slash, Quick Focus, and Sharp Shadow. I do best with nail combat, and I like having full health, so healing quickly is important. SS is there because the lengthened dash length is great for things like dashing through AbsRad's horizontal spikes or through the Nailmasters, as well as Sly phase 2
What charm builds do you like to use that are not listed in this video??
I don't use the same charm builds I always change
Unbreakable strength, quick slash, mark of pride, and unbreakable heart. I usually replace unbreakable heart with soul catcher if I need to use spells a lot.
I stick to one build way too often
Have to take care of the kid
I found the unbreakable heart not super helpful later in the game as we have a lot of masks

Grubberfly + quickslash + unbreakable strength + heavy blow is how I beat trial of the fool. Replace quickslash with the 3-slot lifeblood, or heavy blow with the 2-slot lifeblood if you want. No, sprintmaster only affects the normal walking speed of the knight and the speed of the weaversong. Only quick focus affects the movement speed of slug/snail knight.
another charm build i'd recommend is one i call the 'parry build'

My build is like the 14th but I leave the defender’s crest sometimes, because the explosion tange hide the enemies, I put the thorns of agony and the Stalwart shell so if I get hitted I can damage the enemy for some seconds and run away while my minions do a lot of damage.
Those explosions can be tricky for sure
For the priest build i also recommend adding thorns of agony as if the baldur shell was to take a hit the thorns would still activate.
I totally agree with that
I usually use unbreakable strength, quick slash, quick focus, shape of unn which allows me to deal heavy damage real quick while being able to heal in the mid fight
I sometimes switch quick focus and shape of unn for shaman stone and spell twister to be really good at fighting with both sword and magic
My favorite charm build for exploring is quick slash unbreakable strength mark of pride compass and grubsong but for fighting I like quick slash unbreakable strength mark of pride and stalwart shell
Great setups. I was very much into the nail builds as well
Unbreakable Heart and Strength (obviously)
Deep Focus and Shape of Unn
Grubsong's really useful too but it doesn't fit.
If you have Joni's blessing equipped together with the grubberfly elegy, do you always shoot beams? Because technically, since you can't heal when you take damage you're always full masks
I always use the wayward compass build where the only charm you use is wayward compass.
That one is the hidden 15th charm build
My basic build
Mark of pride
Quick slash
Steady body
Nail master's glory
Quick focus
I never used steady body much but I hear it’s great
11:16 would had the healing protection personnaly I know it works with thorns of agony
soul charm combo, every thing that is health related
So much health. That’s like 22 masks
This is a charm combo I can get behind
