am i the only one that lets zote live because i really like him? yeah he’s super selfish and into himself, and that makes my game super spicy and delicious
He has the tsundere vibes to me. Deep down he cares (about something), but his shitty childhood made his skin too thick to let it show. I'd call him tolerable because of that.
I really like him too. There’s a pretty hidden piece of dialogue I stumbled upon though that gave me a greater affection towards him. If you dreamnail Zote during your fight with him in the Trial of the Warrior, one of his thoughts concerns him trying to earn the admiration of his father. It just gives him a little more character development
He had a morbid childhood, so he compensates with his false bravado. It's sad, but he's so happy talking to Bretta. It's annoying yes, but it's nice too.
Saving Zote, he steals your girl "I made a mistake..." I have to fight Gay Prince Zote "I made a big mistake." He appears in Pantheon. "I MADE A BIG MISTAKE."
You can prevent her infection by going without taking crystal heart and defeating the boss that slams on the ground in city of tears. Proceed to beat the vessel and them shell be ok. 👍
I think it's kinda sweet that you always refer to it as "passing away" rather than dying, just thought it was randomly considerate and had to drop a like on the video haha
There actually is one more hidden choice (though I don’t think there is a achievement attached to it, is that you can choose to let hornet mourn the loss of her mother. To do this, you need get the kings brand before destroying the seal of Hera the beast, that way Hornet is not stuck at her post in the cast off shell, and comes and sits by the bed where Hera had once lain.
Oh wow I didn't even know she would have had to stay there if I hadn't done that. No yeah I didn't even know about the dream nail until after I got Shade Cloak, so that would have been impossible for me not to do.
So We save Zote, because he will allow to get a brand new bossfight & essence. We do not kill the Nailsmith, because he is cool. We do not banish the Grimm Troupe, because: 1) No good reason for banishing them. 2) Bossfight with NKG is cool, no one wants to lose it. We kill Cloth, because we just kill all enemies and accidentally save Cloth in Basin. She will not be sad tho, good thing.
When i was going through my play through i was rushing out of the nail smiths house and accidentally hit the shade soul button and killed him Biggest regret....
@@RelyeaGaming I do it a lot. I'll dream nail something like the Mantis' (after gaining the respect of their Lords) & press A to close the text, forgetting it's not one of those text boxes. Also, sometimes my Shade Soul just launches itself after text boxes. I don't know why.
i accidentally killed zote on my first playthrough. i came across him and thought i couldn't beat vengefly king so i said "i'll save him later" somehow, literally like 20h later, i came across the area again and found zote dead. at this point i had COMPLETELY forgotten about him.
Ya know, that’s what happened to me with Bretta… I couldn’t figure out how to get to her and so completely forgot her until way later. So I never got to see her fangirl over the Knight :/ Zote was already in Dirtmouth by this time…
Her name is Bretta and she appears in dirtmouth after you save her in the fungal wastes, after which she will develop a huge crush on you. If you save zote then Bretta will start to get a crush on him instead leading to the Grey Prince Zote fight.
There's one more you've missed: Killing Myla or not killing myla Myla is an NPC in the caves found before the main entrance to the Cave Peak, she's a cute little miner that is singing a song, as the player collects spells, Myla will get infected and will become a violent Miner Husk If you decide to kill her you get 10 geo and you'll hear her cry aloud before dying, if you don't, Myla is alive but will try to kill you as the infection got to her...
Killing myla or not does not lock you out from anything in the game. It is not on the same level as banishing Grimm or letting zote die. You can have her live until she becomes infected and kill her in the same game file. Chosing to banish Grimm locks you out from defeating NKG
It’s so painful to see her. I had never had an idea about the infection before, but I noticed that she started to change .. There’s a phase when she still didn’t attack you, but stopped talking to you or singing , just mumbling to herself.. I think maybe that’s after I received desolate dive.. gaining the possible way to access the crystal peak. After I entered the crystal peak, she attacked. I didn’t even know what’s happening then but I couldn’t bring myself to kill her. Sometimes I couldn’t kill someone or something even if they give you achievements (so naive, i know it). Later I found out about the infection .. so sad. She’s one of my fav, her voice was like a small child. I let her live, but seeing she lost herself was so painful. I hope after we got rid of the infection, she’d get better. I don’t even want to kill the dreamers, they don’t fight back and that make you feel even worse..
Why you don't want to save Cloth: 1. She wants to overcome her fears and fight strong enemies such as the Traitor Lord 2. She wants to reunite with Nola (dead partner) in the afterlife 3. There is no route (I couldn't find one) you can get Mantis Claw and thus progress in the game without passing the area where you meet Cloth
Meeting her second time triggers whether she will live or not so you can save her without meeting her in ancient basin as that's when she gets confidence to be brave
Soooo i like made a "peaceful" save as i saved almost everyone, except cloth (may the radiance rest her) and now i have to make a save where i yeet everyone for achievements
Holiday merch available bun til December 5th. Check out the ugly Christmas sweatshirt: teespring.com/stores/relyeas-shop there are a handful of achievements that can only be obtained by making one choice vs another. Did you get all of the achievements in this video by playing 2 save game files?
Saddest Save File : Let Zote Die ( thus preventing Bretta from Leaving Dirtmouth ) Kill the Blacksmith ( leaving the Sheo alone ) Banish the Troupe ( It is a good thing but you won't get to upgrade the Fragile Charms if you haven't before the Banishing and you'll have Nymm ruin the Dirtmouth Theme with his music layer ) Don't let Cloth fight and defeat Traitor Lord ( thus letting her live on without much accomplishment )
I never liked Zote. I wanted to leave him there in my first play through but my brother wouldn't let me. After I learned more about him throughout the game, I was more convinced that he deserved to die back in the first encounter. So in my second play through, I finally just let him be and think: 'He is not strong enough to save himself and he needs to learn that the hard way.' But when I came back to get the achievement and saw his body and nail something came over me. I believe it was a wave of guilt. He died because of me. I murdered him.
I was talking to my cousin about it (he ended up with cloth alive and I ended up with her dead) and we both kinda agreed that my ending was better. She’s much happier having died a brave warrior’s death, than she is living in dirtmouth. If you talk to her ghost after talking to the white lady, she seems really happy and proud of herself
Anyone who hasn't beaten NKG yet, seriously don't banish. The carefree Melody is an awful charm, and it replaces grimmchild which is actually a very good charm. Plus you miss out on NKG which even though it is insanely difficult, it is still one of the best bosses in the game in my opinion. Plus nymm (the guy who gives carefree Melody) ruins the dirtmouth theme and replaces it with bagpipes. Carefree Melody is a VERY low percent chance of blocking, and you have to get hit quite a few times for it to work. It's just much wiser to kill NKG. Plus I think if you kill him instead of banishing, the unbreakable charms NPC leaves with them, but if you kill she stays.
Greg Boing Maybe I’m just bad but carefree melody saved my life many times, and you can fight with NKG after at godmaster dlc,so banishment is not that bad. However, fully upgraded grimmchild is very good and the title card at the start of the battle is unforgettable. So I think playing the game several times is the best choice.
@@gameralper4873 I guess but the chance is really low and you have to get hit a few times for it to activate. I still think fully upgraded grimmchild is much better. It I guess it's your opinion
I think the only reason why choosing to banish the troup is even a reasonable option is because you can still fight nkg right away in godhome. Thank god you don't have to get up to him in pantheon of hallownest to unlock his statue.
personally i like the end where cloth helps with the traitor lord fight shes searched for so long for a battle so she could die an honorable death and be reunited with nola, and the fight with the traitor lord turns out to be the battle shes been looking for its sad to see her go, but shes finally back with nola and she died a truly brave and honorable death so in a way, it was worth it
@@RelyeaGaming I was about to go away and leave him but the I pressed the wrong button. Dash, and I had sharp shadow and he fell to his death. He wasn’t even struck by his nail. Then I put a marker down to remind myself of him )-;
I could see it going either way. This may sound dark, but there are people who give their whole lives to a single passion, and don't feel the same in any other field. Eventually, they dread living life and end up in a depression because they have already done what they wished to do. That's how I saw the nailsmith, as someone who wished to end his life quickly without having to dreadfully live life with no purpose.
I feel bad because I didn't even hesitate, I thought that him fulfilling his biggest goal ever and then wanting to feel the power of his beautiful creation was enough for me to strike him down, I had no idea he could have lived a happy life again :(
Wow I didn't even know about the one with zote or cloth, Though cloth died when I played but I'm ok with that because she died a hero and she was happy to fight. But if cloth doesn't die she would be sad in dirtmouth. I also didn't decide to banish the grimm troupe because NKG was to fun to banish ;)
Idk why Zote gets all this hate. He’s my favorite NPC. I just love how over inflated his ego is. It’s hilarious to watch him live his life as a hero in his own story lol I want to the little weirdo to live out his dreams
There's another you didn't mention, saving Leg Eater it's not common but it's an option. If you have you're unbreakable charms on he can smell that they are unbreakable and he'll know that his queen (Divine) is above him and when you go back to Divines tent after talking to him you'll see that Leg Eaters arms/legs are on the ground in front of her
Hi Relyea, I would like to mention this one: Endings I got locked out of ending 1 when I acquired the Kingsoul charm. And locked out of ending 4 when I brought the sacred flower to Godseeker. I made another new game though, to not save zote, to banish Grimm, to spare songstress Marissa and Cloth, to kill Nailsmith, and to get 1st & 4th endings
You are able to get ending 1 and 4 on the same game file if you know what you are doing. This video goes over all of the things that you absolutely 100% will get locked out of based on your decisions
Killed Zote accidentally, I don’t even remember finding the room with him until 30+ hours in I found his body and got a notification telling me I accidentally killed a guy I didn’t even remember meeting. I’m not gonna try Godmaster cause I have no skills, so I kinda wish I had saved him for the comic relief lol
I saved zote on my first playthrough because I thought "Oh, maybe if I save him, he'll reward me and maybe even help me on a boss". Instead he stole bretta from me (which made me incredibly sad because she was the only one who truly loved the knight, even if it was only for saving her) and made her think I was a monster, made me fight grey prince zote, and made the pantheon harder. The only thing that I liked was the sensation of beating him to a pulp in the colosseum.
What I love about this game is that little things are connected and the game isn't linear. I can fight whomever I want, there are some limitations to where you can go depending on items and skill but it's always my choice
Cloth was my favorite traveling npc aside from Cornifer. She had an interesting arc throughout the story if you care to find her. She starts off a chipper and friendly fighter who has big plans, then you meet her in Deepnest where she’s now doubting her capabilities, and then in the ancient basin she’s still down on herself but gets a spark of inspiration after seeing Ghost’s skills, and then it comes to a close in the Queen’s Garden where she finds her resolve and gets to take down a savage beast only at the expense of her life. I don’t usually like going through storylines where characters I’ve grown to know die when I also have the choice to let them live, but Cloth is the exception. I love Cloth and wish she didn’t die during the fight against Traitor Lord, but she says it herself she lived her life to the fullest and proved she was a brave warrior. And that you were Cloth. Rest easy in my dream nail.
Not worth getting carefree melody, it may be worth no damage but if I take it I want baby grimm to help me send double to what I’m fighting, besides Lucks no in my favor very often Least I beat pantheon of the sage
My current save actually has an interesting situation with Zote. I saved him initially, then completed the Trial of the Conquerer for the charm notch, THEN I saved Zote in Deepnest. He is now trapped in the cage below the Coliseum of Fools. So I guess I have the choice to redo the ToC again to defeat him and send him to Dirtmouth, or just let him rot in that cage forever lol.
I realized that Brumm seemed pretty depressed from the ritual so I banished the troupe and I really like the carefree melody. (in god seeker mode even if you banished the troupe in your other game file you're going to get Grimm child no matter what.
When I first started playing a few days ago I saved zote but when I listened to him I found out he was really salty so I thought to myself, “I should have left him there, since tough guy said he can end anyone or smth like that.” but realizing that if I would have left him and he would die, makes me really glad of my decision.
I thought the fact Cloth didn't die to the traitor lord was a glitch and I went about my life like normal, and then when exploring to find more pale ore I ran into her again and realized the err of my ways... hopefully she finds fuller meaning in life like the Nailsmith did... at least I get to play my game and check in on her every time I warp back to dirtmouth! She deserves a rest but also deserves her wife back so... :(
I actually let Zote live because I thought he’d change, and then I realized I made a big mistake. I didn’t want to let him die, so I saved him, but now I realize the Pantheon is going to be hard for me now. I’m hoping he will at least stop grumbling in Dirtmouth once Bretta leaves him after I defeat Grey Prince Zote for the fourth time.
Me: *Learns you can kill Zote* Zote: hey what are you doing in that menu Me: *starts game over and does everything then goes to vengefly king and see Zotes body* Me: *Y E S*
Relyea means she’ll die that warrior death when I get to traitor lord. Alas it’s a tough choice but I’d be honored to send traitor lord to his demise and giving dear cloth a proper send off. She will not be forgotten oh brave warrior that was umpired by nothing but a tiny hollow vessel. 🙂 Edit: it means I already saved her and talked to her in fungal waste. The price of getting my pale orb... 😢
Nk Lendore you don’t need to beat the TL in order to move on and beat the ending of the game. However this game has multiple endings. _And_ in order to get to some of them you need to talk to the White Lady. And you can’t talk to her until after you beat the TL. The only way to beat the TL and save Cloth is to beat the TL *before* talking to Cloth after saving her in The Ancient Basin. I could go into more detail on how talking to the White Lady affects the endings of the game but that’s spoilers and I don’t know how much you know or how much you would like to know.
Interesting Fact: Another character that it’s affected by a choice that you can make is the Leg Eater. If you wear any of the Unbreakable Charms & talk to him, he will go to the source &..... (NOTE: This choice becomes impossible if you decide to banish the Troupe)
If you save zote the first time you have a second chance for letting him die in the deepnest. Also you cannot have the first ending once you have the void heart.
Zote will never die in deepnest. And you can get both the first ending and the voidheart ending in one save game file. It is impossible to save zote and let die, save the nailsmith and let die, save cloth and let die and banish NKG or bet him
When I first found Zote being eaten by the vengeful king, I beat it after like 10 tries because I was bad at pogoing and then when I finally rescued him he wasn’t even grateful but now that I know you can just let him die ima choose that every time
When I beat the traitor's lord I was shocked. I wasn't expecting an end like that. Especially because traitors lord was a hard one for me. And with the adrenaline of the fight, seeing cloth get stabbed from the heart was really really shocking. But seeing her finish the traitors lord like that was kinda satisfying cus it was the only time we saw her real power.
I’m still on my first playthrough and I’ve met her in the mantis village area and Deepnest. I only went into that direction of Ancient Basin to receive the pale ore. I will now be exploring more of queen’s garden after I make it through the hive and white palace
On my first run I ended up going full murderer, because I never noticed zote, the smith because I was only doing what I was told, cloth because I saved her on accident while exploring before I realized saving her condemned her to death, the grimm troupe, while I did let them stay, technically keeping him there is quite literally allowing a demon to reside in your world, which might as well be death, plus I fed leg eater to the charm lady (though I did that regardless)
Oops, just spoiled some stuff lol! I just started playing hollow knight today and I just defeated Hornet, I saw your video on how to defeat her and it really helped, thanks! However it still took way too long.
That fight has a pretty big skill jump compared to everything before it. That is normal. The game is just getting started. I’m excited for you. Let me know if you ever get stuck anywhere
Your videos are the best!!! The saddest one is cloth, either she dies or she’s depressed. wait.... I defeated the enemys that cloth was afraid and now she’s going to be brave now before the part were she helps me in the boss battle So that means..... *oh no*

He just killed me too much in the pantheons. Other than that I like the little guy
Yeah, and if you let him live you can kick his ass personally to let him know you hate him!

There's one more you've missed:
Killing Myla or not killing myla
Myla is an NPC in the caves found before the main entrance to the Cave Peak, she's a cute little miner that is singing a song, as the player collects spells, Myla will get infected and will become a violent Miner Husk
If you decide to kill her you get 10 geo and you'll hear her cry aloud before dying, if you don't, Myla is alive but will try to kill you as the infection got to her...
Killing myla or not does not lock you out from anything in the game. It is not on the same level as banishing Grimm or letting zote die.
You can have her live until she becomes infected and kill her in the same game file.
Chosing to banish Grimm locks you out from defeating NKG
Ik it isn't on the same level, but killing her leaves you sad :c
Yeah, I knew by the way she began to act she was turning, and I couldn't bear to kill her. She's one of my favorite NPC's, important or not.
I killed her and didnt even think much of it
Why you don't want to save Cloth:
1. She wants to overcome her fears and fight strong enemies such as the Traitor Lord
2. She wants to reunite with Nola (dead partner) in the afterlife
3. There is no route (I couldn't find one) you can get Mantis Claw and thus progress in the game without passing the area where you meet Cloth
Meeting her second time triggers whether she will live or not so you can save her without meeting her in ancient basin as that's when she gets confidence to be brave

I have beaten nkg it was hard but worth it
I agree with all of this, I don’t think banishment is a good idea
Im not actually sad because cloth died on my save, she dies fighting and when you talk to his soul she's happy :D
personally i like the end where cloth helps with the traitor lord fight
shes searched for so long for a battle so she could die an honorable death and be reunited with nola, and the fight with the traitor lord turns out to be the battle shes been looking for
its sad to see her go, but shes finally back with nola and she died a truly brave and honorable death

If you have you're unbreakable charms on he can smell that they are unbreakable and he'll know that his queen (Divine) is above him and when you go back to Divines tent after talking to him you'll see that Leg Eaters arms/legs are on the ground in front of her
That's why I'm trying to avoid him because imagine going to meet someone just to get eaten
Me: trying to save everyone and make everyone happy
Zote: how dare you let me live
Hi Relyea, I would like to mention this one: Endings
I got locked out of ending 1 when I acquired the Kingsoul charm.
Isn’t that something. You got an achievement for killing someone you don’t remember haha
first time I saw Zote getting clapped by the Vengefly King I screamed “HEY! PUT THAT MAN DOWN” slashed him in the face and regretted the fight
Not worth getting carefree melody, it may be worth no damage but if I take it I want baby grimm to help me send double to what I’m fighting, besides

Relyea means she’ll die that warrior death when I get to traitor lord. Alas it’s a tough choice but I’d be honored to send traitor lord to his demise and giving dear cloth a proper send off. She will not be forgotten oh brave warrior that was umpired by nothing but a tiny hollow vessel. 🙂 Edit: it means I already saved her and talked to her in fungal waste. Wait... Is there a way to skip the Traitor Lord so cloth lives or is the boss required to beat in order to move on ? ;-;
Nk Lendore you don’t need to beat the TL in order to move on and beat the ending of the game.
What wild storm said
Oh ok..Thank you both !!!
Interesting Fact: Another character that it’s affected by a choice that you can make is the Leg Eater. If you wear any of the Unbreakable Charms & talk to him, he will go to the source &..... (NOTE: This choice becomes impossible if you decide to banish the Troupe)
Good call!
Relyea, can you please give me some tips on dealing with the last 3 foes of the Pantheon of Hollowiest? Any charm combos?
Honorable mention: If the Kingsoul becomes the Void Heart, it cannot be turned back. However, only the Kingsoul supplies Soul.
