DS Thorn is an incredible, unheralded additive synth, often on sale for $20-$30 on PA I love playing with this synth and somehow it just always sounds awesome...

Cherry Audio make some amazing VST’s for very reasonable prices!

The best money I ever spent on instrument plugins was U/HE synth bundle, Reaktor and Pigments. Extraordinarily high sound quality and close to infinite sound design pallet.
Wasn't cheap, but they make it easier to resist temptation to spend money on other synths, since so few compete with their quality and range of sounds.

I’m currently taking a break from using my hardware so often, or at least trying to integrate it with software more….Pigments is great for that!! I bought a used copy of Pigments 3 on Reverb for like $50 with the license or whatever about a year ago, and then forgot about it until fairly recently lol 😅
I also found my old Kontakt 4 or 5 sample library boxed cd set in my closet the other day and last night downloaded it and it gave me a free upgrade so now I have Kontakt 4/5-7 too, free of charge to my current self! 😅
It also came with downloads of the “lite” versions of Reaktor and some other stuff.
Between Pigments and Kontakt I’m gonna be pretty well off for a while….for a little while anyways until the GAS returns 😅

You not using all modern synths? I think you should. I was like you, using Air synths, and experimenting with other rare ones.
I am glad i dont use those anymore, I am using good sound synths, analog and not, and the difference in sound is massive. You got good ones and modern ones there though, but if you want a good analog sound try the arturia mini v4.
I dont get why you rejecting the best synth of all, Massive X, give it a chance, it is the best sound of all soft synths out there.

@@reasonexperts I got that, but just saying you should use them, then get rid of the lot, you got too much going on there, too many synths. You will be more creative when you lack of tools to make music.

Very interesting collection of instruments there, Hydlide, and it's cool to see someone talking about these without any hype for a change. I personally love Pigments, Falcon 3, Dune 3 and Phase Plant. Next up would be Serum and The Legend HZ. Like you, I just don't like Massive X for the same reasons, although I think there are some great sounding patches for it. I also like just about anything that Arturia makes, Native Instruments' Super 8, Razor, and Kontour.
I do hear great things about Diva and Zebra 2/HZ, Synthmaster 2 (soon to be 3), Ana 2, Omnisphere 2, but there comes a point when cost (especially Omnisphere) is an issue, and the many thousands of new presets can lead to full-on overwhelm.
These days, I prefer to invest more in unusual effect VSTs, such Arturia eFX Fragments, or great sequencers such as Stepic - basically tools than can enhance what other VSTs can already do or help in sound design.
Cheers, and all the best to you from here in Memphis, TN 🙂

Falcon is a name I have heard before. Is it from UVI? I thought it was. The U-he stuff is great. They have an awesome flavor. I never got them myself because the pricing tag of them are a bit too much for what they are / what they do (especially if i compare it with the stuff I personally already own).
Omnisphere is a VST I insist on to avoid myself. Simply because I would drown myself in presets. And then things become counter productive. Especially from my production flow perspective. I have nailed things down as to go to this VST because I need that typical sound. Omnispere on this matter tends to go everywhere. The same thing could be said for Kontakt (native instruments), that is also the main reason why my Kontakt library is limited on matter.

    • @AdamsOlympia
      @AdamsOlympia 3 місяці тому

@@reasonexperts Benn Jordan covers UVI Falcon quite often on his channel -- probably the deepest power synth out there. But I also prefer synths that are more focused, lest I too can get sidetracked for hours just playing around in those endless toolboxes, and never actually make any music.
U/HE price tag was a bitter pill to swallow, but for the price of a single HW synth, they sound better than any digital synth I've heard and have a larger sound pallet than most .. They actually raise the bar, making you far more discerning on what you spend money on, since so few compete with their sound quality... Madrona Labs and GForce are the only other devs whose synths I think approach U/HE for organic or analog-like sound.

Mulab daw has the mux modular vst and Sunvox is a tracker which has an unlimited modular part if you like the classic tracker style. Harmony bloom is a polirythmic randomizer, but very precise sequencer vst for the melody enthusiast; and reason 3 already enough to everything with reaper connections xD which means rearoute can be installable when reaper showing the settings on the istalling part: after you can use reason 64 audio outputs on the top side, and reaper can do every kind of editing after with the older and newer reason versions sound sources. (also because reaper can play video files, you can sync recording with that)

Great video! I use a lot of these. I love the Arturia ones so much! I really enjoy using Phaseplant the most with it's interface and the way you route stuff. I'm exactly the same with Serum as well lol. I bought it for the same reason and I've barely used it.

I own Synthmaster 2 myself. the thing with synthmaster it can do a lot of things based on the devices I mentioned. Yes, synthmaster can go really deep. It isn't my 'goto' vst. I sometimes still use it though, but not that often. The real good thing with Synthmaster, there is a huge community behind the idea. And they have set up a wide variety of different patches for this synth alone over the years. And sometimes I just start browsing them just to get an idea going. And I find it is good for that one.
