- A 1970 "Reflective" collage of interviews, thoughts, waffle & mutterings, by 4 of the band - about how the name "Marmalade" arose - fame, fans and early days. Be warned, you may need an interpreter - Graham, Pat & Junior had very broad Glasgow accents at the time!!
They were a fantastic live band.
This band made Great music,
,& Reflections Will live forever.
I was in their fan club when I was a teenager. Loved them.
Dean Ford and Frankie Miller.. Two great Glasgow voices. Brilliant!!!
Beautiful name I love it thank you so much for sharing with us you’re amazing 😉
I understand them and I'm from New York!
Great band when I was very young 🎼💚
Graham Knight was the bassist and he played a conventional four string bass. Graham also sang the high harmony vocal part on their records. Pat Fairley played a six string bass on the early hits before playing rhythm guitar. Dean, Junior, Pat and Graham were all from Scotland and Alan Whitehead was English. Hope this trivia helps.
Went to Eastbank Academy with Junior Campbell ,lived in Barlanark Rd.next Pat Fairlleys flat,he used to play with my Gibson Guitar ,long time ago.
Thank you thank you thank you!!! Sooo cool!!!!☮️🤘🏻❤️❤️.
And SCOTS!!! Me gramps was pure Scot redhead and married gramma who was german who had beautiful longblack curly hair❤️❤️🤘🏻. My hair was Black Scot as my gramma called it... very dark red 👍🏻
Bet there were some gingers in that band..wish had been in color! 😁
Thank you again so many memories flooding in. ❤️
Love this song from.1970. and I was 14 years old when it came out on the radio .
great songs. RIP dean Ford. good ole boys👏👏🍻
They played in my home town in the 1960s...the festival hall were they were booked ..they use to display large letters above the venue ...stating which act was appearing....the poor chap who's job this was .... couldn't spell marmalade ...so he instead put.... appearing tonite ...the jam ...no kidding..😂...
.....NOW you've GONE and DONE it - really, REALLY want a FULL documentary of this truly-ESSENTIAL Caledonian combo!
Campbell, he could pass as P. McCartney's brother! Or vice versa. // Early Marmalade, good young men, good people.
Querencias7
Oh never noticed that till the interview just found after this song played.
So very true! All handsome young men 👍🏻. Know why the girls were screaming 🤘🏻❤️🤘🏻
J Carver Oh Hell Yeah! Loved the vids in color so you see them all and the colorful cool ass clothes from the 60’s n 70’s! Rock n Roll will never die! Just us old rockers that is reality, but hey....WHAT A RIDE IT WAS!!! 👍🏻☮️🤘🏻🤣
@J Carver I'm a young gal and I think they all look great (hence my fairley profile picture)
Such a close resemblance it’s a little eerie
It’s the eyes.
Junior Campbell had a great soulful voice.
WOW, Empty bottles in the studio
Thank You
RIP DEAN 😓
Thanks so much, brought back a lot of memories!
Great footage. Thank you!
Great band
Brilliant band. Im american and love your songs
From my neck of the woods. My parents knew of them as they were local band etc when they first started.
I roadied with The House of Lords and we'll remember heaving a Hammond organ up the Picasso stairs but great days.....the Poets ,Pathfinders , dream polis , Howl , Tam Ferrie , lee Dickson......cousin Norman🔊
I didn't need and interpreter!! I lived near Gretna and went to school in Scotland. Knew every word. Great band, always thought they were under rated.
Good for you 😉
nimrodfree...I love it! Great upload!
Almost like listening to a young John and Paul in the first two folks, some similarities, ha. Great band and signature tune in Reflections, no doubt. Did not realize they were Scot. Always loved the tune. Was singing it with a friend I was teaching guitar back in the day. We still have a band together, but unfortunately don't cover the tune.
Seeing the transition from the 70s to the 80s took me back from Life on Mars to Ashes to Ashes
Graham Knight looks like a wee boy here - but is wearing a wedding ring. He seems a bit shy / self conscious too.
They come from Coatbridge were i come from them and hue and cry come from up the road from me.loved their music.
OMG Junior you were so so cute. And your not so bad now.
i remember junior cambell played in a charity football match at the old waterlooville football ground they where outside the beatles and the hollies my other band after hearing baby make it soon on a jukebox backn in liverpool
Dean ford♥♡
am sure Allan shitehead opened up a string of lap dancing clubs? didn't junior have reasonable success as a solo artist , ? dean has done some great stuff lately . him and frank miller two Glasgow giants (singers )
It's really true.... Junior Campbell does resemble paul mccartney....

Calling BBC:
Can you please do a Top Ten Psychedelic Group Countdown? Please include the Marmalade, the Status Quo, and the Move. Thanks. PS. You did awesome with Top Ten Glam Rock Groups, Prog Rock Groups, etc.
Cool.
B.A.Robertson is really the worst of interviewers being entirely self-obsessed. Thankfully Junior Campbell knows exactly how to deal with him
@335stella lt was written by Graham Knight, though I'm not sure if he ever wrote anything else for the band
I turned on the caption to help me understand what the Glasgow musicians are saying. I may not need an interpreter, but a closed-caption button.
Haha…..I live in Corsham, Wiltshire…..where they decided their name 😂
Who typically played the base guitar in the Marmalade: Was it Graham Knight or... Mr. F_____ ?, (who I saw play keyboard once). Dean Ford was lead singer and writer, Alan Whitehead was on Drums, Junior Cambell: lead guitar and writer. So that leaves me wondering of the position of Graham, who was undoubtedly backing vocals... and the position of Mr. F_______ (I forgot his name - sorry.)
Yes, thank you, is does very much clear matters up a fair amount. So the gentleman's name I was forgetting was Mr. Pat Fairley. My, but I think he looks Scottish. Nice to hear all the accents; I am an American, myself...
I believe one of the band members told me that though yes, Pat would play the keyboards on occasion, this was not his usual position. After watching this video 2 or 3 times, I have to watch myself from pronouncing in Scottish!! (I love the accent, actually.)
@335stella "Empty Bottles"

B. A. Robertson Interviewing up the cherry picker!
1:00 looks like Paul McCartney.
The lead singer Dean Ford is recording a new album and wants to involve the fans. Please take a look at his interview. Thanks! ://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/deanford/

Dean's vocals ...fantastic!
@@Jade447 thank you :)
kilby rule
how come that fud, Robertson has to turn up
Couldn't put it better myself!!! Couldn't suffer him and always thought he was a right big headed attention seeking twat!!!! I'm sure he speaks highly of me too but he is an irritating git!!!! 🤣 🤣
Great song great singer love you all so sorry for loosing the guitarist xxx
4:00 Is that you, Paul, speaking with a Scottish accent?
Paul who? Paul Campbell?
@@JuniorCampbellmusic yeah, that's him... Paul Junior Campbell McCartney!
speak they english ?
Brilliant band, atrociously under rated, most likely because of Ob bla di which given it was a Beatle composition is weird.
Has anyone heard that Graham Knight died at the age of 77?
Well if he did, no one told him, or me, spoke to him last week ...
@@JuniorCampbellmusic Thank you Junior😊 Relief to hear🤗
Guess I'd better start taking down my R.I.P condolences to Graham 😙❤😃
I also thought he had passed away thank you so much for letting me know I was upset when I heard that that’s so nice to hear xxxx
I know this comment is three years old, but I wanted to let you know that my dad is still going strong!
I liked the better when they were called The Gaywads.
