Dont understand why people surprised a team can play the final in their home when its decided far earlier. What do they expect? If Real gets the final they say: oh, sorry, forget all the preparations and everything, we just cant let the final in Madrid?

There have been many times the UCL final has played with a team at home. The most recent being Bayern losing to Chelsea "in their own backyard"

I was totally convinced that, despite his skinny stature, Crouch easily had 90 kilos (as a tall person i know how good height can "hide" weight).
I checked it and several sites said his weight was about 75 kilos - which is absolutely insane.
Same for me though can't gain weight below 4.5k calories per day. 1,98m tall 75 kg
The story behind Saarbrücken is that it has rained heavily during every cup game, making the pitch quite poor. Against Gladbach, it was so bad that they had to cancel the game just before kickoff and reschedule it. Bundesliga teams struggled a lot with the poor pitch and consequently lost the game. Now in the semifinals, the football association has decided to switch to another stadium in case of heavy rain instead of playing at the Saarbrücken stadium.

Winning a cup and thus qualifying for a European competition is an amazing boost. For one, you get extra cash to spend, and secondly you attract some pretty good players that will at least help you not get relegated.

The amazing thing about this run in the DFB Pokal by Saarbrücken FC is that they deeated Bayern 2 - 1 in the early stages after Bayern Munich went up by 1 (Thomas Muller) in the first 20 minutes. It is a wonderful run in any case.

It happened with Fluminense at Copa Libertadores Final last year. Fluminense plays at Maracanã and the final was there and decided way before the Libertadores even begun.
Also, Fluminense's greatest rival, Flamengo, plays there as well, so they too could've went to the finals and played a single game at home.

I had to play a Champions League final against Real Madrid... At the Santiago Bernabeu.
Even funnier than Saarbrückens DFB Pokal run is Hertha BSC B run back in 1992/93...they reached the finals and were only beaten by Leverkusen in the Finals. Even funnier is the fact that the real Hertha Team never won the Pokal so that would have made for an awkward situation if they would have won it
In Brazil some even lower division teams won the Copa do Brasil like Paulista de Jundiai, and during 5 years at least one of the semi final teams was relegated, also Palmeiras won the Copa do Brasil and was relegated in the same year!

Maybe in addition to SYS you could make a Praise Your Saves video/stream, where anybody who is proud of what they have accomplished can submit their save, and you can review their manager history and accomplishments. It would be fun to also see some saves that are 30-40 years in the future

Started with fm23 and so far ive exclusively played german league. In my current save (second ever) with frankfurt i sold Muani for 90m, horded a bunch of wonderkids and then won the treble in 4 years

Who can say what is correct grammar or incorrect grammar? Standardized grammar has always been a static solution for describing something that continuously moves. Linguistics does not correct, it represents.

i had the cup "problem" in another football manager game recently, the team i went to won the DFB Pokal in the 2nd division, but stayed in the 2nd division as i got there, we got promoted and went to the EL final, which we lost to molde after extra time :(

In the Dutch League there are no squad registration regulation. It is a pain in the butt in the European Competition since you have a lot of players good enough for playing time but can not register them all. But it is fun!

This was a thing for Dutch managers too, especially when you're down: use the big centre back as a super-sub up front, usually as a kind of target man. Frank de Boer would sometimes bring on Mike van der Hoorn (CB) as a striker when down during the 2010s.

Hey Z, on the subject of people who don't need "save your saves" how about a one off called "prolong your save"; basically when people are getting bored of saves you jump into them and give a few ideas on how to freshen up and get the spark back (quite and take over a rival, sell star players and rely on players x,y, z from your youth team). I guess they'll be like challenges and you can check up on them a couple months later to see if they're still playing and how they're doing

The worst part for me is that I actually signed that guy in my only FM save (assuming there aren’t other Tempelmanns than Lino/he s not a regen) and he was actually good for me. Actually, nah, I choose to believe it was some regen of that name, my guy could never do that! I did have a defender on FIFA that cleared the ball into his own net on a career in what is the only incident of tapping up I have ever seen in a game though, at least that one had the decency to look sad about it

it once was a rule, if one club in the cup final already is qualified for CL, you dont even need to win the cup, final is enough to qualify you. Once both teams are already qualified for international play, the first club out of these ranks (in germany its usually #8) hops up.
