- This video shows the new antenna farm that I just finished installing at amateur radio station KA9AMO. The antenna system covers the 160 meter band through the 440 MHZ band. The 160 meter full size loop covers that band through 10 meters. The discone antenna covers 50 MHZ through 440 MHZ. The 160 meter loop was modeled in MMANA antenna modeling software for radiation patterns and swr / impedances on all bands. All were easily matched to 450 ohm ladder line via a Dentron KW Super Tuner. This is a rebuilding of the station as I have been off the air on HF since 1991. I want to express a special thanks to Callum M0MXC of DX Commander for the inspiration to get back on the air through his excellent You Tube videos especially the ones on MMANA antenna modeling software.
What I most like about this setup is that while none of it is pretty, it works, and it was made with materials that are available to most folks.
I think it's beautiful!
Eye of the beholder and all that.....
After see this Video, i be Vertigo ....... more move......
Knowledge...I love it.
Also, I doubt anyone has accused you of being ignorant. You're a wealth of knowledge. 73.

I like that knife switch box for the 450ohm wiremen ... 👍👍👍
The knife switch box was a cheap yard sale bargain. box
I like it too! Clever use of an old cooler.
Love the setup, has given me some ideas, Cheers Trevor Hardisty ZL1UTH
thats what becoming a ham is all about making dipole antennas or loop antennas nice job 73s
Like your set up nice and simple any recommendations on where to buy good quality knife switches 73s de EI5EN.
I bought large switches for use on farm electric fences at a local farm supply store. They were about $19.00 each in US dollars.
How high is the loop it looked pretty interesting are used to have a loop but I don’t anymore I’d like to put another one up K1emw
It is 16 feet above the ground.
How about some OTA demonstrations
How high is the loop off the ground? And I think you done a great job putting the 160 meter antenna up. Maybe one day we can have a qso . 73 AE4OY WILLIAM Peacock EM-81UF
William Peacock the loop is 16 feet above the ground.
I get on 160 meters once in a while.
Do a video of the station. We want hear it. How quiet is it?
I will try to do that in the near future after the holiday rush.
@@timgoad5750 yes please I would love to see this . Thanks
Is it still standing or did it rot even with concrete ?
It is standing well today.
It is standing well today.
@@timgoad5750 Good to hear . I aware it's treated but concrete holds water around the wood more than just plain dirt will .
@@larryhaney6608 the bottom of the hole has broken bricks for drainage.
