    Those hex beams work. And work well. Seams like a lot across the pond like those.

    I appreciate this video. I got on the waiting list for a BuddiHEX today. Expect to get mine around the end of the year. Fingers crossed. I have a Buddipole and the Mastwerx mast; they work great.

    I wish I could get HAM licensed. I hear about local stuff but they all disappear when I try to find any testing or assistance. But looks fun!

      Look up laurel testing or ARRL amateur testing in your area in Google. It's easier than ever to get your license.
      Got my 1st license in 1990, now I'm a VE.
      Go for it.

      I passed my Technician test off of studying the HamRadio2 Technician videos. Passed the General using HamRadioPrep. You just have to want to get it enough and you will do it.

    directors go in front of the driven element. reflectors go behind the driven element.

      A hex is a 2 element beam. Driven element and a reflector.

    Thanks for the shout out Jason. Exactly what was needed as that threw me off for 30 minutes before someone explained you could push that button in and that it would lift off. 🤣I am so afraid I will break something.

    Hey Jason, was wondering what the top of that center pole that attaches to mast looks like. Would be nice to mount a vertical for gmrs or ht's up there, or idealy starlink lol.

    • @Gagnon4234
      @Gagnon4234 Рік тому +1

      It's actually flat on top with a 3/8X24 female thread insert so you could mount most any small antenna on top of the hex center post.

    Did you extend the 30ft mast completely? I have heard that it is not possible to use the full length of the 30ft version with the hexbeam and you should set it up to 20ft maximum. Hope that it´s not correct because in that case it does not make sense for me to buy the mastwerks. Other question: Do you have an idea how to install the antenna on a circular mast instead of an oblong one?
    Many thanks for your videos about the hexbeam.. I had luck and next week it should arrive here (only the mast is still missing)
    Regards, Jonas, DJ1KL

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  11 місяців тому

      No, I only put it up about 20' - my 30' tripod is one of the first models, they have been redesigned them since to make the top sections a bit more sturdy. Mine won't hold the Hexbeam with the top section extended, but you really don't need it anyway.

    What’s the power handling capability of the hex-beam? Just wondering if I could use it on 11m while out camping. But I didn’t wanna melt anything.
    Thanks

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  Рік тому +1

      Power Handling and using out of band are 2 different things.
      The Hexbeam itself will handle 1500w but it doesn't have an 11M element so you would need a tuner to tune down to that band.

    • @franklentz5388
      @franklentz5388 Рік тому

      Wait, wait, wait…The antenna structure has a mast, but after assembly it needs to be placed on a separate mast to elevate it right? I put myself on the waiting list to get one, then today I realized that I can’t mount it on the mast I already have, seems it is designed to be mounted on a specific brand of mast that I guess must be purchased separately? The Mastwerks brand mast that is shipped from the same location as the Buddiehex.

    • @HamRadio2
      @HamRadio2  Рік тому

      @@franklentz5388 Mastwerks is owned by Buddipole. And yes, the hexbeam is made to go on that.

    • @franklentz5388
      @franklentz5388 Рік тому

      The mast just about doubles the price, but I also have a Buddiepole and it’s a better mast than the one that’s included with the Buddiepole. You just can’t have enough antennas right….

    Why are some not allowed on “field day”?

    • @45auto
      @45auto Рік тому +1

      ARRL Field Day rules specify that the WARC Bands (30m, 17m, and 12m) shall not be used (look up WARC Bands for the definition). Contesting in general is not allowed on the WARC Bands.

    'Do not put up the Hexbeam without putting the coax first.' I was thinking that all the way up until you said it. I always put that on after I put the elements on. I also found that out by experience... BTW, I'm 6'1" tall, and I also need to use that build mast. DE K7RLN
