I remember as a kid in the mid-'70's seeing dozens of stainless steel Penn Central cars in this yard. Seems they don't park many cars here anymore. I wonder why?
Was it kind of odd for the new (at the time) P40 Genesis locomotives to be in Philly? From what I recall, it was rather rare for them to be on the east coast when they were brand new, except for the Auto Train, maybe they had came up on the Crescent? New Orleans was a big base for them back in the 90s.
@howardkevinm u mean certain trains or all of them?..amtrak still has a large # of trains named..coast starlight, Pennsylvanian, empire builder, cresent, and many more..sadly they don't run the clocker or the bankers special anymore..those were PRR trains..but maybe they will revive the ones they dropped off when they start upgrading their lines in the next few years
its great to see tht GP40tc leading those heritage cars...its amazing how they look today and are still eurning their keep as GP38h-3's..great vid!!

They used them on the Crescent up to Philly. Serviced them, and sent them south the same day.
