I bought a silver 2001 Eclise Spyder GT with the V6 and loaded, with the 5 speed this spring, put 5g in it so far. Awesome ride and looks sharper to me than most new drop tops. Hard to find his trim with stick. Its a keeper.

Coming from a few Audi's with V8's and all their electrical issues, I love that this car has next to none. Just drop the top and enjoy.

There were 4 generations of the Eclipse, the first two undoubtedly being the best. Rooted in rallysport with the LEGENDARY 4G63, an engine that to this day still makes V8 guys shake in their boots, they are becoming more and more sought after for their legendary tuning capabilities, the pinnacle of which is Boostin's 2nd gen GSX making well over 1000hp. It is the fastest manual car in the world and just achieved high 6's in the quarter mile this year (2022). Anyway, I only came here because I just murdered one of these 3rd gen V6's in my stock Mk7 GTI and was curious since I know almost nothing about the post DSM era Eclipse's.

I've owned a 2g, 3g and 4g and prefer the 3g. Not a common opinion but the 3g makes the same power, is lighter (2g GSX:1,460 kg (3,210 lb), 3g GTS V6 coupe: 1,385 kg (3,053 lb)), 30% stiffer chassis, and the build quality is better than even the 4g. Nowadays, they're all just old cars so its best that examples are saved and restored vs modding and destroying them. I'm hopefully buying another 3g this week. But the fastest stock is the 4g for sure, making 260hp back in 2006. To be honest the 2g looks cool but they are kind of a shitbox, windows rattle, they have door handle issues, everything creaks and and just cheap plastic.

Ngl i'm even happier after watching this video cuz I bought one that's way much cleaner than his and only paid 3700 US $ 87k miles mechanic is in almost perfect condition. Never thought a 20 year old car could be this clean.

Yes, exceptional lines for a car of its age. It’s always a privilege to have the opportunity to experience these cars in person.

No joke haha! Those seats were so small that even when sitting fully upright you could not fit in the rear seats comfortably unless you had put the top down

Lots of misinformation in this video...there were 4 generations and they were 1g 1989-1994, 2g 1995-1999, 3g 2000-2005, 4g 2006-2012. The 1g could be found under 3 names, Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon, Plymouth Laser, and the 2g has both the Eclipse and Talon still. This SOHC 6g72 can be found in a DOHC variant in the Mitsubishi 3000gt/GTO and the Dodge Stealth.

Considering the price of all other vehicles on the market, The value per dollar figure with the eclipse convertible has a good amount of reliability and style, at some point it comes down to The buyers personal opinion.however, I believe the Toyota Solara convertible is the better of the two from the first generation.

In this day and age and how rare the car is now, you take what you can find.
