    I bought a Nissan 370z a month ago and one of my favorite features it provides is the smiles on peoples faces when they ride/drive it similar to yours at 9:40 . I have yet to experience someone with no less than an ear-to-ear grin in the mid to high RPMs of this car, including myself. If you love to drive and want something with power AND handling, this is the perfect package for you. I always liked the 350z but despised the interior and was pleasantly surprised by how much Nissan improved with the 370z. It only took one test drive to fall in love with mine. Though it lacks rev-matching, it has the NAV screen, Bose, and the sports brakes so to me it's perfect now that I can heel-toe without much thought. Also, I'm 6 feet tall and have no issues with leg room or head height by any means.

  • @justinbuice
    @justinbuice 9 років тому +40

    If I were in the market for a sports car this would be my first choice. Some Dynamat would take care of that road noise and an aftermarket touchscreen radio would bring the interior into 2014. Just wish some of the gauges were more useful

    • @videomaniac108
      @videomaniac108 3 роки тому +3

      A lot of the road noise is due to the tires; the OEM Bridgestone Potenza S007s on my 2019 370Z sport coupe are pretty quiet. The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires that I put on later are even more quiet. Noise is not an issue in my car.

  • @JL-pq4rl
    @JL-pq4rl 8 років тому +9

    I believe the reason for the increased volume is because typically when we drive a car, the back/trunk area is sealed off by the seats or a wall with padded. The 370z in this case has all of that out in the open, and nothing to separate the cabin from the rear/hatch area.

    • @StevenMcsweeney-k4e

    Thank God Nissan still makes a proper sports car. Yes I said proper sportscar- as in something that a true petrolhead/purist would want and not the GTR. I just wish they did a proper Nissan Skyline series in the future like the R32, R33, and R34. Everything else is just a gimmick in their line-up. Beautiful 370Z in that red color and that awesome rev-matching stick shift. This is the future manual gearbox that should be available with a rev-matching feature in every car instead of those stupid flappy paddles !! Drivers car right here and thank you again Matt for the review as always.

    This was a good review; thanks for your thoughtful comments.
    I bought a 2019 370Z sport coupe 6MT new about 5 years ago and now have about 57k miles on it. I daily drive the car and it is a blast to drive, with no reliability problems or issues. The mods I've done are: stiffer Hotchkis anti-roll bars, stainless steel braided brake lines, a Fast intentions x-pipe dual cat back exhaust, a Stillen Gen 3 long tube cold air intake and a dyno tune done on a Dynojet chassis dyno with EcuTek software. I got a uniform 15% increase in torque across the entire rev range and a calculated 50 hp increase in peak crank horsepower, ~380 hp @ 7200 rpm vs the stock 332 at the same rpm.
    I currently have a set of gloss black painted(to match the color of my car) forged magnesium monoblock wheels, from Litespeed Racing in LA, that will be mounted shortly to yield an approximate 9 lb reduction in weight per wheel, vs my stock Rays Engineering forged aluminum wheels.
    My current hp to weigh ratio is about the same as a late model Gen 3 Coyote engine Mustang GT, with estimated 0 to 60 times in the low 4 sec range. The handling of the car is stellar, with the help of the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Their extremely light weight, with grippy rubber and stiffer sidewalls inspires a lot of confidence when the car is pushed through the corners. Mods in the near future include Recaro sport bucket seats that should shave off about 50 lbs and two-piece aluminum hat brake rotors that should drop about 10 lbs and 5 lbs from the front and rear wheels respectively.
    I have a car that will match a Porsche 911 S Carrera in acceleration and is almost as good in handling. With the other weight reduction mods and other tweaks to the suspension, including lightweight coil overs, I expect to then be fully competitive with Porsches, except for the turbo models and the exotic GT RS models. All of this is for a lot less money than it would cost to purchase and maintain a Porsche; I know, I used to own one.

    I like watching this guys reviews, you tell when a cars power impresses the driver just by his facial expression. its great. His eyes goes wide open and he starts giggling.
    Other reviewers put on a straight face on full acceleration and simply say "This car has power but....."
    Cars like 370z used are very cheap here in the UK as everyone around here is wanting to drive German cars,
    I would trade in my BMW for this just to stand out from the crowd.

I love both cars honestly, not a big fan of the 370z clutch and the weight but it has great power and decent handling. the brz is definitely slow but I fell in love with the feel of the ride. so smooth and enjoyable. again both great cars but I ended up with a 2016 frs 2.0

    Income tax in February I'm picking one up. These are going for 12-13 thousand with a salvage title and super low miles. Or spend 17-20 k and pick up a used one with 60k miles. Can't decide D:
    I've owned a 03 Z hatch and an 04 Z Roadster. I don't care what anyone sais about these cars... They can take constant beatings and still push. No car has ever offered me that "fighter jet" cockpit feeling when you're behind the wheel than the Z. LONG LIVE FAIRLADY!

    Nice review! I have a 2013 370Z myself in Gun Metallic. Mine's also the base model but it's even more base than this one cause it doesn't have the sport package. So it has the 18 inch wheels, no syncro rev match on the manual transmission (which it does have) an open differential, and the standard brakes. It even lacks that little rear spoiler. Yet despite all of that, I absolutely adore my car. Yes I wish it had limited slip and the sport brakes but the standard brakes stop the car pretty well and it drives like a boss. It was the only one on the lot and after the deal I got on it, I had to have it! Nissan really knows how to build a great sports car. The V6 is a great engine, very powerful and loves to rev. I agree that there is a lot of road noise and the clutch takes some getting used to but it's forgivable for how great it drives for it's price point. If you ask me, whoever owned this one may have just deleted the resonators in the exhaust which gave it a louder sound. Anyone else agree? If so then I'm totally doing that to mine until I can afford a louder exhaust for it! It's too quiet!

    I had an '09 370Z for 3 years. I'd only recommend this as a second car and only for a person with quite a decent income. He hit the nail on the head with the road noise comment and if like me you decide to add a real aftermarket exhaust then you can forget about having a conversation within at any kind of speed. The big wheels mean expensive replacement tires, a Mercedes owner with the same size wheels can afford $300 a tire but can the everyman dump that much every few years? The same goes for mods, big V6 means pricier dual exhaust,headers and dual intakes and the turbo/supercharger kits cost a fortune. I eventually realized that it was a car that tried to play with the big boys but was marketed to the little guys with big dreams. I still think the 370Z is a great looking car but bang for buck, there are much better options out there for the driving enthusiast. If you are looking for that dream car just wait until you can actually buy that 911 that you really want, in the mean time pick some old sporty car and beat the heck out of it.

    Test drove a 370z Nismo 6 speed yesterday, they didn't have a base model to drive. I was impressed with the overall quality and the on rails handling. Salesman let me run it up to 150, felt very stable. I'm 6'3" and wasn't to cramped, sorta like the cock pit feel. On the hunt for a used 370 with low miles in the 20k range.

    I feel like he gets all points of the review and really attacks abnormal aspects that normal people wouldn't get when reviewing. He's very good at this and has nearly given me the feeling that I'm in the car riding with him. Quite a few times I forgot what was going on around me and got lost in this review. I felt like I was riding along. Great review man. I'm thinking of buying one and that is what drove me to look for reviews. Glad I came across this. I'd be adding this car to a collection of other nissans, so it wouldn't be driven in the snow, that's why I bought a titan. I won't be beating on my new Z, that's why I build my 240sx. I have a maxima for family and long trips, so it would be just for driving casually. Thanks man, gonna do some more research.

    its amazing that this makes more power and is faster than the old 300zx twin turbo beast, and does it without turbos....The blind spots are pretty severe in this car though..How anyone could say its not bad, is beyond me....The 2019 I tested was Quiet as far as road noise so that issue was taken care on in later models., However ,now they added fake engine noise. ..LOL

  • @07wrxtr1
    @07wrxtr1 10 років тому +1

    I had a wrx for 6 years and picked up a new 2014 370z. All it needs like you mentioned is some sound deadening and a new stereo. IF you want to over spend, you can get the infinity version which has the sound deadening, that's Nissans money making plan.
    Overall it's a MUCH more refined vehicle compared to the '07 wrx. I don't feel compelled to buy bigger brakes, new suspension, swaybars, bushings, upgraded clutch, new turbo, new fuel injectors, new exhaust, an accesport, dynotune (if you want to do things the CORRECT WAY!) all of which people don't understand is money wasted when you go to sell the wrx. The wrx is fun, but eventually it will get very very old as a daily. Atleast it did for me.
    In the Z you simply get compliments from all ages and socioeconomic back rounds.
    The only thing I can say I miss about the Subaru are the organized drives, the aftermarket support here in Oregon, and the turbo spool, bottom end TQ from the old 20g I had... If I were to compare how much I spent over six years vs. the new car payment, the Z is actually less money, and then you'll have more cash to invest in other things that should matter more in life.
    Thanks for the review!!! I don't miss the wrx, and if only I could have the thousands I wasted on that car back!!!!!

    The car is still probably on the OEM Bridgestones (especially with 5k miles) and I'm willing to bet if you change them to a better tire, such as Pilot SuperSports, the road noise won't be as bad.

    • @mhtube01
      @mhtube01 9 років тому

      Jason Hyde Are the Bridgestones really that bad compared to others? I have a 2014 370Z with those tires and while they have awesome grip, they are pretty loud. Mine are at the end of their life though and I just bought a set of Yokohama AdvanSport A/S (high-performance all seasons) cause I needed tires that were better for rain and light snow since I live in Northeastern PA. I'm getting them put on next week and I can't wait! I'm wondering how loud they'll be compared to the Bridgestones. I also have a Borla Cat-Back exhaust on mine which helps drown out some of the road noise. :)

      +mhtube01 hey I noticed you said u got the advan sport a/s. I got a question because I just switched to those about 3 weeks ago from the Bridgestones. Do you notice the rear wheels feel a little loose as you drive? I have complete grip thru corners it's just over 60mph they just feel a little wierd. I'm thinking it's just because I went from high performance summer tires to the all season so they ride a little different, but I was just curios if you were getting the same feeling or if it's just me lol.

    • @mhtube01
      @mhtube01 9 років тому

      I can't say I've experienced that. So far I'm really liking the tires, I feel like I really haven't lost grip (though I've gone easy on the tires to wear them in) and the ride quality feels like it's improved a bit. I definitely feel more confident about driving the car in the rain and even light snow if I have to.

    1:38 That ass doe. ;) Lol. Yes sir the VQ does not disappoint, this 370z sounds beautiful. When they first released the 370z I was more into the older 350z. But I seen one in person and the first thing that sticks out are the wheels. It really is a nice touch on the car. Not sure what I'd choose if I was going with a 350z or 370z. I think I'd be happy with either one. Cool acceleration clips, the reactions are priceless. Been waiting for this review for a long time so thanks for finding one, was an exciting review! Looks like you had lots of fun lmao.
    I'd rather see a G35 review, but it would be cool if you found a 6MT G37 in the near future to compare to this Z. :]

  • @bcope8501
    @bcope8501 6 років тому

    This review is spot on. If you're considering a Z pay close attention because this vid nails all good and not as good about the car. One commenter said he is 6'2" and has no issues with fit or vision. I can tell you he has a short torso and is using a great deal of seat recline. I absolutely love my 2017 Sport but at 6 feet with a long torso, the rearview mirror blocks a big chunk of center right view. The Z is an amazing value. It has so much sport car heritage, feel and performance. As a jaded old timer I still grin when firing up my daily driver. Go test drive one, they are a great value and deliver a terrific experience.

    Great to see you back doing a review, my friend ! I always thought the styling of this car was inspired by the 911. Take away that spoiler, look at the roof line, wide hips. Yeah, I think I have a point...Also seeing how tall you look in this car, I think I would have trouble to sit in one ( never did actually ). Can I request a 991 review now ? :)

    A lot of the road noise has to do with the stock tires you get- Bridgestone Potenzas. I just replaced mine with Michelin Pilot Super Sports and the road noise got a little bit quieter. I have a loud aftermarket exhaust though so I didn't really care about the road noise. Also I drive my Z in the winter with snow tires and it does pretty well. Not great, but good enough to drive through some decent snow. The stock summer tires get hard as hockey pucks when the temps dip below 40-45ish.

  • @Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy
    @Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy 8 років тому +9

    I think the road noise was exacerbated by the weather. You're noticing it much more since it's raining and your driving though puddles.

      I see. However, Nissan needs to step up a little bit. 332 hp isn't enough these days. The Infiniti Q50 is as fast as the Z is and the 2wd Q50 is even faster so Nissan needs to get the Z about half of a second faster then it is now but I don't know if that will be to expensive though.

    • @InvincibleMegaBeast
      @InvincibleMegaBeast 9 років тому

      John Vu those two might have bigger HP but it don't mean it is faster...they are suv and havier. straight line, they can hang with the Z, but to what? 100MPH? but on the twistie they will fall behind...but i do agree, the Z needs to be put at 400HP.

    My friend just took deliver of a 2020 automatic today and we spent the afternoon driving it around. Noise coming from rear is muted and noise level is similar to my GenX Civic Sedan. Interior feels very premium for the price point, especially if biased towards the old school analog gauges. Like manual, the Automatic can rev match and easily does aggressive downshifts into first. Steering, brakes, accelerator, dampening/springs are all spot on for the streets. However, I think more premium shocks and progressive springs would bring back some sharpness that seems lacking. For a big guy with XXL shirt size, seating is awesome. I have some experience with LS500, but cockpit in the 370Z fits me like a glove. Could do long-distance in this car with very little fatigue. If same price point, I'd take this car over a LS500 in a heartbeat...mostly because it's setup for a real driver behind the wheels and surprisingly good seating for my size.

    I had one for a year and had to get rid of it. I absolutely loved it, but the cost of running it and the state of UK roads at the moment, ruined the experience. If owning one means holidays have to take a back seat, then it's not a hard decision.
    I have a 500 Abarth now, and though it's certainly a different beast to drive, it's just as much fun.
