    Where are your hurricane straps? Is it earthquake proof? What about volcanoes? Can it withstand an Independence Day style alien attack? Is it rated to survive the pompousness of teenage Swedish environmentalists?

      In a hurricane event I would cover the open structure with plywood, and strap (using air conditioning hanging strap gauge 22 or whatever there's available in a Distributor or anywhere anyone sells it) the roof to the poles and it won't or shouldn't go no where. I don't know how you're planning to do it but I probably paint mine with polyethylene white a good 3 times to start and review it every year or twice a year to see if it'll need a good coat.

    I love your white and black cat. About 15 years ago we found a small kitten along an e-way entrance ramp near Cedar Springs, MI. We named him Casey. As he grew the white-black pattern emerged. Casey never purred, yet a great cat. We lost him one night when he never came home. Locally here in Muskegon, MI we occasionally see another "Casey" wandering around so that it must be a breed of cat. Have fun with your cat and your young son will play with the cat too.

    For a time-sensitive project, especially after you explained your work-schedule, I was expecting a powered roto-drill to get those post holes done quickly. Big respect for doing them the old fashioned way. Been watching your log-sawing vids for a while, saw these ones on your shed and decided to check them out. Congrats on what you are and what you have.

    Nice job on setting those poles with the tractor. Please cut a flat on each side of the posts and put tie plates on all of them to keep your beams from rolling. those screws and gravity won't be enough. Good help is hard to find. lol

      Geoffrey Kail, I thought about telling him to install like 4"x4" steel angulars of a 1/4 thickness on both sides under the union of the beams and top of columns as well. That way the beams have additional 4" under them to support over the columns. He'll see our comments, and maybe do it after confirming if is good and convenient overbuilding for longer lasting support and durability! Thank you!

      future reference--product called Secure Set--2 part epoxy available Home Depot--mix -pour-dry 30 minutes-better than concrete-expands into the side walls and is waterproof--several fence builder videos on You tube extolling its value--- price in or about concrete range-maybe a little more expensive but it works with very low labor cost and can be installed anywhere.anytime-rain .sleet.snow or sunshine--just offering what learned

    Another GREAT video! Interesting, entertaining, and informative! Thanks! I think it looks great. As mentioned before, I find the obvious 'hacks' of something homemade with 'what you have' much nicer to look at than a 'kit' or something with an unlimited budget can purchase. Structurally...it is way overbuilt which is also perfect! Scabbing a 2x4 on top of that beam when all it needs to hold is some snow...wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Thanks again!

    • @falllineridge
      @falllineridge  5 років тому

      Agreed, I am 62 years old, my dad taught me everything, and the will to build and learn. Built hunting cabins, barns, sheds, etc. I am still doing that stuff with the Ford 9N tractor that was my Grandfathers, new in 1939. Those of us who were lucky enough to do this with our fathers were blessed. He has been gone over 40 years now. Enjoyed the video.. That's a good looking Ford...sure would have put a post hole digger on it when I was digging those holes, but they turned out good.

    As a Californian I sincerely hate watching your videos...first you built that amazing white oak countertop, now you construct this wood shed for the gods. Dude you are a surgeon with that tractor getting those posts in the ground. Love watching your builds, keep it up. Maybe one day soon, I'll move out of this backwards, overpriced state. Your property looks awesome man...keep it up.

    Great build, I cant wait for part 2. I want to do the same thing for my "antique" woodmizer and you are giving me some excellent ideas about how to build mine. My only question is, how do you guys function on all that flat ground?! I live in PA and we have nothing but hills and mountains. I guess I'm just envious. Keep up the good work, your videos are great!
