Muffin mixes that need eggs milk or oil, you can substitute mashed banana, applesauce or yogurt !!
Yogurt IS awesome in cake mixes!!
Thanks for the suggestion.
Interesting and I make cake by mixing fruit jam with a biscuit mix. I even made one cake with cherries and brown sugar.
@@dlighted8861 sounds good!
Fresh route is going to get harder and harder to buy because of high prices-
if you will even be able to find it at all because transportation costs, floods, drought, etc. supplies will be limited
I have 200 lbs. of wheat grain per household member in addition to rolled oats, dry plain pasta, raw white rice and plain white flour - all packaged for long-term storage. When you have enough of the basic, inexpensive carbohydrates in your food storage, it is easier to deal with price increases or scarcity of other foods should the time come when you really need your food storage for survival.
Suggestion, to maintain your nutrition, also consider making sure you have enough protein and nutrient array. Most people die from disease caused by the lack of nutrition, not carbohydrate.
@@lindamcneil711 Thank you for your concern. I have ascorbic acid power, nutritional clay and an assortment of dehydrated and freeze-dried veggies, fruit, meat, poultry, seafood, eggs and cheese products in my long-term food storage.
Excellent !
I have recently added, Welches, fruit snacks.
These are fortified with vitamin C,A and E.
Also would be a moral booster for people , esp. Children .
They say, _"with age comes wisdom,"_ and this lovely lady is wise well beyond her 34-36 years of age. 😉
Norway has a Underground Global Seed Vault near Svalbard(near Arctic Circle). This vault is guarded. From what I understand Africa had to use some of their supply seeds due to draught. Then the new supply seeds were sent back to Norway Vault when new crops produced. I find nothing wrong with Norway supplying /protecting their own country as long the grain is not taken out of the mouths of US citizens. Our current higher ups Elite govt officials could care less about our citizens. There is no way that our govt can't stock pile for a "rainy day". The state of Arizona( where I live) leased thousands of acres to a Saudi company that grows Alfalfa hay, using precious Arizona water and THEY SHIP the Alfalfa BACK to Saudi Arabia to feed THEIR cows! My son did electrical work on that property and that is how I found out about it. There needs to be an uproar about this and other foreign ownership of our land. Look at all the land greedy Bill Gates has purchased. There is a article from Washington Post about this a year ago. No US soil should be leased or owned by foreign entities these days!! . Sorry I rambled on, I just wanted to put input about the Seed Vault.!! LOL AG, Thanks for the important video. ***After posting this I found that there is a seed vault in Ft Collins, CO. There's a You tube on it.
What is just as upsetting is how much land china owns here in the US. Not good.
Actually i think the alfalfa goes to their horses. Beautiful breed.
@@carolswitzer5451 Article says cows, but the point is, the
large consumption of water to grow the Alfalfa and then taken out of the country. That land could feed our horses and cows, now cotton here in Arizona by US citizens .
I was pissed when I heard about that. Thankfully from what I heard, their lease was not renewed so this should be ending soon. But it never should have happened at all...we can't spare any water.
*Side note: I came across Pilot Bread recently, bought a "trial pack" and decided to find a recipe and make it myself! Great results, now I make it for us and at a fraction of the cost.
I do that a lot. I'll buy something to see what it tastes like and then make it myself. The big thing I realized recently was why my english muffins were not quite perfect. Looked at the ingredients on the ones in the store, they have vinegar. An easy fix.
@@christines2787 that's awesome! I may try that out.
The texture of barley is chewy like the beef in a Beef and vegetable soup, their absorbed beefy broth gives a chewy mouth feel illusion of extra meat.
It’s asi really great for a hot cereal like oatmeal!!
You can make your own premixes and store them in Mason jars like you do your spaghetti.
Vacuum seal those jars
Yep, it's all happening, everywhere, we all need to stay ontop of our preps.
TFS AG, take care & keep really busy everyone. ❤️🙂🐶
, the government is in it for themself not the American people 😢
It's been that way for decades
Norway has to protect their own, just as we should do here. I feel WW3 is around the corner.
They took all the face mask 😷 and hand sanitizer IMMIDIATELY off all store shelves during the Covid 19 situation 😑.
My sister's a medical pediatrician. I was unable to get her these supplies. Even though as a medical practitioner, she was supposed to be 1st in line....SHE DIDN'T GET ANYTHING!
The government hoarded it FROM THE PUBLIC and to the point, that doctors such as my sister couldn't get it either.
WHERE DID THOSE SUPPLIES END UP?
You must prep everything. Not only food!
@@carolynBulldog5 I agree. I found out today that the NV national guard is deploying a battalion to the Middle East.
The LDS recommends 400 pounds of grains per person per year for a stock up pantry. That would take quite a bit of room.
Not realy.... that would be 4 army duffle bags.
I downsized and made room in a a spare room closet, I was able to put 9 cases in my closet, and put about 12 cases behind my couch with a white plank from Lowe’s on top of the food storage and put plants and pictures on top of the white plank. The couch buts up against the wall so you’d never know it was there.
It can be done. I don’t have a basement
But my house looks nice and you’d never know it’s all there
@@ohiograndma8655 Wow, that is great advise. Thanks
My mom stored our wheat in 55 gallon blue barrels when we were kids. We had a side door entering the house off our driveway and she lined those barrels up along the entry wall so it didn’t seem to take up much space at all.
I bought brown bread in a can to try. It’s actually really good. I ordered more because it was so good.I like it w butter on it. Def recommend it 😋 they have plain or raisin. I
Was it B&M bread?
@@SusanJones-cv4wz it’s a moist dense bread in a can 😃 if you google you’ll c pictures of it.
I love that bread but can't find it on my island
@@bethwhite2857 The "Good Housekeeping Cookbook" has a recipe for Boston brown bread in a can. It's the same thing and you can make it yourself.
We’re all on are own definitely don’t count on any agency to save ya.
THE GOVT WILL STEAL YOUR FOOD IN AN EMERGENCY...... MAKE SURE TO HIDE IT IN PLASTIC BBLS UNDERGROUND.
Thank you AG! We appreciate the experience you share. LDS does not include lids in the cases but they do sell them separately cheap. You dont need one for every can because you can reuse them when one open can has been emptied and you open a new one. Also if you keep lids separate from the unopened cans the lids wont get damaged and will last longer.
USA used to have stock piles of grains but during the 0b@m@ administration they were sold off.
On the Hamburger Helper: I like to add a few extra noodles to stretch it a little further, then I add only 3/4# of hamburger meat, and I also add a can of black beans. I find ranch salad dressing adds a nice flavor to the Hamburger Helper Cheeseburger Macaroni and Ranch varieties. With the Southwest Hamburger Helper, a little picante sauce or salsa adds a nice flavor.
Nice ideas, thanks.
Yup, you got it. I have been personally telling this to people closest to me since midsummer. Such interesting time we're in. Cheers from Norway. 🇧🇻
I keep a careful eye on the stock market and have read the warnings about the potential of rice shortages because Eastern countries account for 90% of imported rice. Well, I buy Texas rice in bulk and we basically have 4 years' worth of rice and other grains to last us (I calculated a family of 6 for our household of 2) at minimum, 4 years. All of it is carefully processed by me and I budget in $800 each month for preps (I cut back from $1500 after my husband returned from a 3 year deployment). We could shop in our "pantry" and never go to a store for anything at this point. No one knows about our preps, as we live in a remote area of The Missouri Ozarks. No neighbors around to snoop, lol. Also, we always pay in cash so there's no paper trail to be followed since all online and in-store purchases create an algorithm for your fave purchases and this is not a secure electronic history.
Hello from Mississippi😊
You know I have been “trying” to follow you for a long time… but I just subscribed again for the 10th plus time. WokeTube seems to be unsubscribing many of us without notice from conservative, prepping, gun, reloading or bug out channels… all the fruitloop channels never get unsubscribed… I find that both frustrating and seemingly intentional. I am that quiet viewer but your recommendations are always spot on and thank you for what you share and do
I appreciate the time you take to watch my channel.
Always great advice. I have been missing you, as I was at hospice with my brother, who is now at peace, and I stayed off of all media. Now I am back to preparing for those of us who will be going through the trials we will go through.
Our government has a WAR ON FOOD: they will use the lack of food to control everyone.
War on food seems true. I saw commercials telling us to not eat fish, buy plant capsules for Omega 3's.
@@AlaskaGranny Good grief!
Orzo did well in home canned soup for me. When making my soup I added orzo to it during the last few minutes, then pressure canned my soup.
Thanks AP.
Remember y'all to Pray, Plan, Prep 😊
That's a great tip! Thanks!
Safe canning practices say never add rice, noodles, or pasta or thickeners to home canned soup before canning. It’s not safe and your starch turns to mush. When you open the jar, add your orzo or rice while heating.
@@mizg1595 I follow Sutton Daze too. This works for me.
Homestead Heart cans parboiled rice. She says it does not fall apart or turn to mush. She is a master of pressure canning. Check her out!
@@BlessedLifeOriginal yes, I've seen her fo that. I don't need the rice canned, but she did embolden me to try a dab of orzo in the soup. It's beautiful soup and tasty.
32 pounds of grain per person won't go very far and is certainly not enough for one year. I do all of my own baking and i go through approximately 150 pounds per year, just for me. I'm a scratch cook and baker and monthly, I make sourdough bread, pancake mix, cookie mix and cream of soup mix.
Totally agree, it's a start.
It's probably for the military
thank you...again!!
Additional grains/carbs I store are farro, barley, quinoa, bulgar wheat, arborio rice. If I have to live off my preps I want a lot of variety to avoid food fatigue.
Those are all yummy grains. My sisters are both gluten free which has the rest of us trying other grains out as well. I like making polenta with just plain cornmeal and frying it up the next day. I cut it in sticks (kind of) fry it in olive oil and salt it or just use it in place of pasta, maybe with some parmesan cheese all by itself.
on Amazon there are Betty Crocker muffin mixes that say "just add water or milk"
Each month I have been buying a couple cans of Augustin Farms cans, its only me here and I have been buying something different, some are way cheaper than others to! I think I will order the granola next being you say its tasty ❤
I have some cans. all sorts of. Have not tried them yet. Are they edible?
I see those betty crocker mixes at walmart and dollar tree!!!!!
You are sooo right!! We need to be prepared for our families.
Another great video 🥰
Good video. Thank you ❤
The USA should have started doing this years ago.
USA does have one. It's called the Strategic Grain Reserve.
@@alexisleona Is there anything stored away ATM?
@@HeatherMerrell Federal stockpile, none. Because we stopped funding storage years ago. USDA now tracks and reports on capacity of private industry grain production and is supposed to buy what is needed in a crisis, like for FEMA to distribute after a hurricane or wildfire. Would that be 32 lb per person? Doubt it.
@@alexisleona I know they're not storing gas either. Not good. They were warned several years ago.
Norway also suffered famine at the hands of the Germans in WWII. They're also close to Russia who recently stole much of the grain for export to the rest of the world from Ukraine. The Great Depression was caused by many factors and one of those factors besides the stock market crash was agricultural failures due to the dust bowl and other environmental incidents. These things happen and are sometimes out of our control as humans. Preparation is just a good idea.
I worked at a restaurant which had a quinoa dish called a "California Breakfast", in it was quinoa, two fried or poached eggs, lettuce and tomato, avocado slices and harissa hot sauce. It was very yummy. No toast needed.
I've used barley instead of mashed potatoes under meaty mushy dinners, namely minced collops, a Scottish dish which also has oatmeal in it. It was also good underneath some round steak that I put in a crock pot with a can of cream of mushroom soup. Yum. Oh, and soups, great in butternut squash, ground turkey and kale stew...
I can't do hamburger or tuna helpers. Too many associations as a child with stomach flu. I guess that leaves more for you. 🙂
Lehman's also sells pilot bread and the Townsend's channel has a video on how to make ship's bread from the 17th century. The LDS church has guidelines on how much to store as well, but it's much more than 32 pounds per person I think. I'm not Mormon, just a squirrel.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas.
Where do you buy the pilot bread at. Does it store for awhile. Thanks for sharing.
Walmart Amazon Costco. The Brown bread in a can is soft & it taste really good.
Pilot bread is new to me! Thank you for mentioning this product. I can't find it here where I am in Canada, but I will keep looking.
Look under favorite products in the menu and they have a variety of piolet bread and hard tack
It's basically hardtack. It's simple to make. Even easier is to just buy matzah. It's made the same way as hardtack, but it's thin enough you can actually eat it without breaking your teeth. Check after Passover; it's usually on clearance then.
@@essaboselin5252 Thank you! It's not surprising we can't get it here in Canada. I think most Americans would be truly surprised if they went to grocery stores here and found the lack of food available, or the usual foods they buy every month in their own stores.
@@bmit04jessesue72 I think Alaska is the only place in the US that sells pilot bread - unless you special order. It's not something you'd find on the shelves of a typical store in the lower 48.
I think with that combination of grains maybe i hav a "ton" of grains. Flour, pasta, rice, oatmeal, wheat berrys, corn meal, masa, quinoa, barley, all sorts of mixes that you named. I still say try walmarts GV artesian mac n cheeses 2.12 ea in all flavors. EXCELLENT!!! Top shelf most stores. I add a can of chicken and mushrooms to it most of the time. For 1person i usually hav 3 or 4 meals of it.!!!! Krogers also has a version of it in a few different flavors but a little highet price but they do put it on sale!!!!! I hav probably about 12 different flavors bout 12 boxes ea. I store them in half gallon jars!!!!!pastas in one jar and sauces of one flavor in another jar. if extra mouths add more pasta. I drain chicken n mushroom canned water into pasta n cover with just enough water to cook pasta. Then heat cheese packet in side hot water then add all ingredients. Very good.
Looking good Granny. Thanks for the update. WE as a nation should be prepping.
no need to spend money on pilot bread. Saltines will last a very long time if they are stored properly and they taste better. Triscuit conatin a lot of oil and will go rancid very quickly.
I store oyster crackers in mason jars with oxygen absorbers. Just opened a jar 3 years old and they were fresh.
Store what you care to eat. Everyone has choices.
Hi to all from Virginia
I also stock up on powdered milk , coco , can meats . Thanks for always keeping in informed, it really does help .😊

@@femvetusa5263 yes I no. Jus wanted a few cans 👍
This is important info that signals what's to come. Thank you for the heads-up, AG. There are people who have previously registered to volunteer for FEMA who say they have been receiving emails asking them to re-register. Seems something big may be in the works. Gearing up for the next Act in the big show.
32 lbs of grain = 40-43 small loaves of bread , we have 600 kilos ( 1350 lbs ) stored and working on adding another 500 Kg , but that will take a few months to sort

Doesnt that just mean we have a bumper crop of grain? Am I wrong? If I have too many hot banana peppers in my garden I store some by putting them in mason jars. If I grew grain and had extra I would store it too.
It does not mean there is a bumper crop if they are forced to import.
