    Hey, thanks for the lovely review. I just received mine today and realised there is indeed a power button lock. You just need to hold the power button down for a few seconds and it'll then lock it so if you're travelling or something it doesn't accidentally gets pressed.

      That's great! I thought I read the manual carefully and didn't realize it had that function, but then again, I read it in Danish, a language that isn't my native language, so I might have missed it because of that. Stort tack! Det är en djungel där ute med olika "trimmers", men jag har kommit på mig själv att jag har använt Braunen mer än min Philips modeler. Jag uppskattar "Faiding garden" väldigt mycket, fungerar väldigt bra runt nacken och öronen och helt ok på kinderna. Känns som man kan förlänga nyklipp looken efter man har varit hos frisören. @@Philip.315 Your video convinced me to go and buy one during a recent sale. It's an excellent product and your review is correct in every aspect. It is a high quality, well designed trimmer with great engineering and ergonomics. I really appreciate not needing to change guards. The blades are very sharp and accurate. The battery seems to last forever and with its small size in its custom travel case it's great to take on trips. I agree the flexing or slipping of the guard just isn't an issue. The only feature that I wish it had is USB charging. I've tried several high quality beard trimmers and this one is easily my favourite! Thanks Philip!

    A “Monday example” would be considered a “Lemon” in Canada :)
    Was considering the Philips 9000 Norelco but will go for the Braun as an everything device (head, beard, body). Tack for the review!

    • @Philip.315
      @Philip.315  2 місяці тому +1

      I don't see anything unique about that 9000 model other than that you get a OneBlade included, and it has a better level distance, its look like a wheel like onebladepro, while the 5000 model has a basic soluttion with a lever. Regarding the Braun Series 9, I would be careful about trimming the body without the guard; I don't think it's really designed for that, especially not for the 'private' areas.
      Oh, you mentioned lemon; could you elaborate on that? What are the metaphors? A 'Monday example' refers to someone who is tired on Monday morning after the weekend. But I don't get the lemon part? Good luck with your purchase. Best regards, Philip

      @@Philip.315 The lemon analogy is an expression in Canada (don’t know if true for all of North America) when someone bought something that is defective or broken, “Steve bought a car online but it turned out to be a lemon!”.. so maybe the other youtuber got a lemon from Braun :)
      I think for my moderate body trimming needs with a guard (and being careful with the royal jewels haha) this should be a great trimmer.

    Great review! I subscribed your channel immediately after watching this video.🎉
    Do you think if one should upgrade to Braun if they already have old model of Philips norelco 7000 series - MG7790/28?
    I really liked that in Braun you don't have to deal with so many attachments and it's comparatively easier to change length by rotating the dial.
    However where I really need your help is to know if -
    1. Is countour blade in Braun better than the Tblade in Philips? Which one is better for edging or is sharper when compared? I have read that the new Philips starts from 0.2mm whereas Braun starts from 0.5mm but in your video the contour blade looked really sharp.
    2. What's your opinion about the taper attachment? Are they really good to create a fade while beard trimming? It wasn't that clear in the video.
    Thanks. Keep it up.

    • @Philip.315
      @Philip.315  3 місяці тому +1

      Thank you so mutch! I will do my best to give you an answer.
      When it comes to which one is best, I think it's a personal question with that kind of comparison. I believe we all have different circumstances, from face shape to different types of beards, etc. I think both are equally good for getting a smooth edge, but for me, I find Braun works well in that aspect. Also, Braun has this auto-sense feature which might make it more efficient, and their specially designed counter blade for edge trimming might give a slightly sharper line than Philips. I also find Braun more ergonomic to work with. But ultimately, the end result is probably similar.
      I think the tapered attachments are okay on the beard, but even better around the ears/sides and neck. I've found a way to improve it a bit by switching left and right attachments and trimming from different angles, which works better. It's just important to be mindful of which direction you're holding the trimmer so you don't end up with the fade in the wrong direction.
      As for your question about whether to upgrade or not, I find it hard to answer. It's always exciting to try out new things, but at the same time, I think it's a shame to replace your old models if they're working fine. My policy is to only buy if there's a discount, otherwise, it can become an expensive hobby. I hope I made you a little wiser and not more confused. Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions. Take care and have a great day!

    Hello! Great review! I was looking to buy either the Philips 7000 or the Braun Series 5 or 9. Have you tried the Braun series 5? Or do you think it is more worthwhile to invest in the series 9? I'm looking for something that can trim my beard (shorter beard), as well as give me a short trim on body and sensitive areas as well (1-2mm). What do you think would be the best choice to choose from the three models? Thank you so much ! :)

    • @Philip.315
      @Philip.315  2 місяці тому +1

      Hello Richard! Thank you for the question. It entirely depends on what you value most. Is it price, accessories, quality, or innovative solutions? The Braun 5 lacks the locking button and has poorer battery life compared to the Series 9, and there's also a difference in the accessories. I've heard from others that you should get the same accessories between the 9 and the other models, and it's only the Series 9 where you get "pro" blades that provide a better edge cut. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get any parts that the 5 model has, like the mini foil. I'm not sure if they don't offer that combination/package here in Sweden while Braun does it in other places?
      The Philips 7000 is a good value for money but may provide a slightly less pleasant experience when it comes to changing parts or ergonomic design. However, you get a good result, and there are plenty of options available.
      Currently, I mostly use the Braun Series 9 in combination with the Philips OneBlade Pro when I don't have time to shave properly before work. Braun has some things that are so simple yet so effective that the experience, in my opinion, is a bit more enjoyable than with the Philips 7000. I like the fade guards; they provide more than a satisfactory result. I've started to notice the Autosense feature now that I've been using it for a while; it's very unique to have a trimmer that adapts to your needs. Lastly, I find the design pleasant to use.
      So, my question to you is: what is important to you?
      Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions. /Philip

      @@Philip.315 Hi Philip! Thank you for the speedy response! :)
      I would say price isn't an issue as long as it is a razor of good quality and which will last me for a couple years. Ideally I'd like to get a razor that will be good for trimming my short beard and also good for body shaving as well (especially near sensitive areas). Would you say that the Braun Series 9 is good for body shaving as well? Can I get a relatively close body shave of 1-2mm? Do you think it will cause any nicking in the sensitive areas with their guard? Or do you think the Philips would be the way to go (or perhaps another razor if you have any suggestions that can do both well)?
      Thank you so much again! I really appreciate it! :)

    • @Philip.315
      @Philip.315  2 місяці тому +1

      @@diante.richard In that case, I would go for the Philips 7000 model, especially if you intend to use it on sensitive areas and you have more accessories that increase the likelihood of meeting your "needs." As I mention in the video, I don't find the model to be a particularly pleasant experience in terms of ergonomics or how to switch between the parts. However, I believe that the Braun 9 might not be exactly what you're looking for. As for the Braun 5, I can't comment since I haven't tested it.
      Finally, I'd like to add that the lifespan of these devices usually doesn't exceed more than 2-3 years in my own experience. Also, I believe it depends on how careful one is and how well they maintain the trimmer. There's a lot of buildup around the drive shafts, among other areas, which can significantly increase resistance and make it harder for the motor to last in the long run. And this is something I'm not good at maintaining.
      I hope you found some guidance and didn't become more confused. Good luck, and feel free to reach out if you have more questions. Have a great day! /Philip

    10:50 tip: when trimming with guards you need to trim against the grain for it to cut the most accurate. Your beard hair doesn’t grow side to side like the way you’re holding the trimmer.

    • @Philip.315
      @Philip.315  Місяць тому

      Hi and thanks for the tip. I had to watch the video because I suspected that I was using the fade guard then, and I was. Exactly what you mentioned, I actually mentioned in the recording. But I removed it and other things as well because the video becomes too long or difficult to explain in English. It may sound strange, but certain things, especially beard/trimming, are hard to express if you don't know all the terms. But if I go back to the fade guard, it's not perfect because, as you mentioned, the hair grows straight down. That's why I say 'Almost good.' It's much better around the ears and neck with it. Lastly, I want to mention that generally, I have to use some odd techniques/angles because I want you viewers to get the best view possible, but it's at the expense of not really seeing what I'm doing in the mirror or that the camera is in the way, so I can't see myself completely. So, one gets a bit limited. Thanks for your tips; I'll take them with me and try to improve in the next video (I'm still learning). Have a great day!

    Thanks for the review! Coming from the old Norelco 4014 (11yrs of use and still going) I was excited to try something new, thanks to your video I went with Braun. Sadly, I found the Broun 9 experience to be of a $40 trimmer with an additional $80 worth of mediocre attachments. Standard blade with a retractable and lockable guard and small precision trimmer are good. The rest of them are a waste.
    T-line blade offered nothing sharper of a line than the regular blade, nose trimmer is a joke and gets warm, body trimming blade also got too hot after 2-3 minutes of use that I would not recommend getting it close to sensitive areas - groin, armpits or sides. Their "shot glass" design of blade heads? pull in so much hair that cleaning the tight areas of the heads is annoying.
    I wish they just sold the main unit as a trimmer and without the rest of the gimmicky stuff. Given the current $120 cost and what functionality you actually get, this is a return for me.

      Thank you for the feedback, and I'm sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience. I bought mine on a promotion for $60. As I mentioned, I made a mistake and didn't double-check the accessories; I thought you got more with a 'Pro' model. Regarding the heat and cleaning issues, I haven't experienced any problems. As for using it on 'body parts,' I would only use it on chest hair or maybe underarms, with a few millimeters of distance and not close to the skin. The primary use is beard trimming. Perhaps you would have appreciated the Philips 7000 model? It comes with more accessories for a lower price. I hope you find a suitable model, and I will take your feedback into account for future videos. I wanted to test it for body since they do market the body blade, and chest is exactly what I tested. I agree, body blade for close trim is not good, I would recommend only using it with a guard which beats the point of having a dedicated 3rd blade. At $60 price tag this would be a great deal for a nice beard trimmer, you lucked out :)

      After comparing the two, I ended up keeping the Norelco 7000. Blade seemed sharper/tighter than Braun 'Pro' blade and the head changing mechanism a little more solid or perhaps more familiar to me. Not a fan of sizing limitations and why Norelco could not keep the single adjustable guard concept, but I don't keep anything longer 5-7mm range anyhow so most of those guards will sit unused. Combs on guards on Norelco were more skin friendly. Great body trimmer too, package is priced right.
