Note for the future with no shame attached- please please PLEASE do not re-release any aquatic life that has been held in captivity to the wild, regardless of if they were collected legally with a permit or not. There's a risk of introducing non-native pathogens, parasites and bacteria to the environment that they were exposed to while in your aquarium (often from cross-contamination from other aquariums in your home).
Yes. Please do not release any fish it could introduce a invasive species. Re-home it instead and if you can't your stuck with the fish. If you are no longer available to care for the fish or can't re-home it you should not have gotten the fish in the first place.
You do understand that all those are from the same spot? It's like picking up a snail from your garden put it in a terrarium, observ its behavior and after that puting it back in the garden.
@@SweetXoXMira Yes, I do understand that they are being returned to the same location that they were originally collected from. The problem is that when they were held in captivity, there is a real risk of cross-contamination from organism that were collected from other sources. See the tank to the right from the one he set up- it has tropical marine life that was collected from the indo-pacific. While being transported through wholesalers, those fish and inverts would have been held in tanks with species collected from across the world, and the current marine-life supply chain is rife with marine pathogens. We know that marine pathogens and bacteria are more than capable of transmitting through airborne droplets and over distances up to 10 feet- who knows what that tank may have been exposed to. In short, do NOT release any captive fish back into the wild, even if it was collected from that site originally.
@@SweetXoXMira it doesn't matter. It is safest for the environment to only reintroduce catch and release fishing fish to the water. In most areas it is illegal to transport live fish, harvest live fish from place of catch without killing them, or release any fish that has moved from its initial catch point, or to not kill invasive fish. Aquarium fish are legal to transport and keep but if they leave your aquarium into a water way that is illegal. The goal is to prevent introduced of invasive animals and any aquarium hobbyist, or angler such as my self needs to know these rules in order to maintain our waterways and to safely keep our aquariums that have non native species so non-native are kept out of the local environment. Look at the damage plecos have done. I have a tiger pleco and if I can no longer keep it or rehome it the only option left would be euthanizing. Luckily I understood the care requirements before I bought the fish and have a big enough tank.
@@fishtaleTVusing sponges in a saltwater aquarium is a crime, placing stones around the edges making dead zones is a criminal activity, using quartz sand instead of aragonite is a crime. Bro, while in Russia we buy your sea sand worth $30 for 3.5 kg, you use ordinary sand which is in any river💀💀
Hey, fish tank geek here, I would recommend that next time you clean out the sponge, you should take out some of the tank water and squeeze it out in that, theres a lot of beneficial bacteria in those sponges and when you clean them off in the sink it can sometimes cause problems.
Also, I'm pretty sure even hermit crabs like that need like 4 inches minimum of "Dry" sandcastle consistency sand so they can burrow down and molt. Also, they need calcium so thats why they were eating the shell, I used to just put hardboiled egg shells with my crabs and they went crazy over them. EDIT: Just realized at the end you released them lmfao
I’m an aquarium guy and the hobby does have its casualties. Research ahead of time goes a long way- I’ve made a tide pool take in the last but it used 2 levels of water and still had some flow to keep the temperature somewhat appropriate. Not easy and sometimes the already fragile animals won’t make it with the added stresses of transport and weird conditions
It’s probably wild caught and of course it’s local, like he said he doesn’t have much money and as a fish keeper I can say for a fact that saltwater fishes get hella expensive
As a general rule it’s considered unacceptable to release fish that have been in a tank environment into the wild because it spreads disease to local populations, but it was very clear throughout this video he set up with native media using native animals, so that wouldn’t be a concern in this case
@@defiance514even just moving local fish from one body of water to another local body can have harmful impacts, especially if there was not a way for them to get there in the first place

As someone with a salt water tank twice the size and twice as populated as this one, It’s fine. There’s not enough chemicals in the water compared to the amount of water in the saltwater tank to make a difference.
Great video except for the end where you release them that’s a very bad idea and in most places it’s illegal because it can add harmful diseases and parasites the natural ecosystem isn’t equipped to handle and if you don’t know what’s in your area you could introduce an invasive species, which is never a good idea. But besides that I loved the video specially Jerry he was a cool guy
