I was there. My sister and I stood in front of the stage almost the entire time and both our legs were aching of standing the whole day at the festival so we decided to go sit on the side somewhere and share a large beer. The sun had just set and it started getting darker as the stage turned green and they started to play A Forest. My sister came back with the beer. We passed the beer over and over, took a sip each turn and quietly listened to them pumping those beautiful chords out into the field as Robert Smith's voice started to sound more magical the deeper we got sucked into the moment. Even me thinking about this moment still gives me goosebumps. Best performance I have ever seen!

I’m 75, first got hooked in the 80’s. My musician friends got stuck in their roots but I was always open to new music. I loved the 3 C’s: The Cure, The Clash and The Call. Robert Smith is kind of a musical genius. Can’t get enough of A Forest!
Robert...we've both gotten older and plumper haven't we? I don't give a damn. You are still great. I'm 51 and remember your songs getting me through my days in the Army in Germany. Oh the good o'l days. Keep going Robert..you still hit my heart strings :-)
Those lovely crowd aged between 80yo and 15yo are all so happy enjoying evr inch of the concert, they know they are living a moment of happiness in their life that can't be repaeted again....they go for it...forgetting all....timeless music..masterpiece after masterpiece...and the heros there are Gods in their art...
Even at the age of 60, Robert Smith is still as great and as amazing as ever. In fact the entire Cure band are still as great as they were in their heyday. Keep on rocking guys!!!!
There's something about The Cure's music that feels utterly timeless. It's a rarity. I'll always love them. I'm still amazed at how great they sound live, especially Robert's voice, which after so many years is still fantastic.
“Timeless” ... are you serious?! It’s played on instruments only available in the last fifty years, using technology only really used and popular in the last 30yrs in a style that is inherently of the pop music era since. If you think they did something original with those tools, fair enough and there’s no accounting for taste - I don’t really know enough about their music to say more than seeming to be relatively unoriginal, however popular it may in a niche kind of way. What is beyond doubt, though, is you hear it start and it dates itself to no more than the last 30yrs purely by what it’s played on! You wouldn’t confuse with Bach or Beethoven, would you, even if you’d never heard it before?!
@@bikelawbloke omg 🙄 what a boring old fart!!! Comparing The Cure to Beethoven or Bach to make your point about the music being timeless is ridiculous!
Just to remember what we have all lost in these dark days. The Cure were and are still the most outstanding live band. These good days will return. Always the music. Love from France.
It's good that fans go on the band concert from the age of fifty to teenagers. It's good to see that The Cure isn't just dinosaur, but they also have young fans. And the band is in great shape. Excellent sound. It is well. I like The Cure for 30 years and are still great.
Disappointing @Manchester 2016, so many there seemed to be lost when they played songs like 100 Years. Even Robert said that the crowd seemed to be a 'Hits Only' crowd. Personally it's the most visceral live version I have heard of 100 years since I first seen them on the HOTD Tour. Noticed that in the last 2 years you can actually hear Reeves guitar, louder in the mix. Much better
Robert Smith is far and away one of the greatest guitarists ever to step on stage. Paired with a voice that in its own right is a unique instrument well, you have LEGEND
One of the greatest songs of all time as they eclipsed history with their extraordinary evolution into various music genres over the years.Smith is a genius and his fellow band members were as well awesome.
Robert and Simon are as absolutely amazing as always.. so many front men loose their voices over time.. Mr. Robert Smith never ceases to amaze me... Great snowman as always!! Thank you..
It does. However many songs have aged well. Baba O’Reilly comes to mind. As does a number of Stones songs and Elton John songs. But yes, this song is awesome. And I remember it in 1980. But I was listening to AC/DC and Ted Nugent more back then.
Saw them at Pinkpop in 1986 with The Cult playing there as well. A couple of weeks later they were at Rock on The Ring with Simple Minds, Simply Red, INXS, The Alarm and others. 2 of the best festivals I've ever been to and The Cure were magnificent at both of them. Saw them in 2017 and they were still rocking it hard. Great band!
The Cure extraordinaria banda que con el transcurrir de los años continua con la misma calidad interpretativa, nunca me cansaré de escucharlos sus canciones nos inyectan energía y fuerza. Gracias por su extraordinario legado musical.
