Ok, who HASN’T tried a s’more before? I give out free digital s’mores in the group here: www.radicalyt.com/howdy … I don’t actually, but that would be fun haha!
Loved the video. Loved how it's actionable as always. I wished it had some real channel examples of this though. I know you don't like doing videos based on audience feedback all the time, unless it seems like a good idea or other people are in favor... but a great part 2 of this would just be looking at channels (maybe within your following) who are doing this, how they're doing it, and what they're doing well... and maybe some newbs, who are starting to do this, but it hasn't quite landed, but they're finding their feet? The last part is probably harder. But seeing real examples would be awesome.
@@katiarobinowicz I think the channel Peaks100 is a good example of what he was talking about. It’s a food review channel, but he always posts about his family and includes them in his videos.
I didn't realise just how powerful spoken traditions were until I had people coming up to me telling me that they'd been drinking their water - one of the things I used to ask in my early videos is 'are you staying hydrated?' - so I'm working out where to put that back into my script to carry on the tradition!
Coffee acquired. Now I get it! We have a few little "inside" sayings people feel the belonging with when they can anticipate. I'm constantly making messes and I say "Make a mess or it doesn't count." It started as a way to encourage people through making mistakes and it really did stick.
Throughout the video I kept thinking, "I wish there were examples." And there were examples. Then I thought, "I wish I could see where to apply these." And there were areas of application provided. Fascinating stuff, although I feel that resistance thing you mentioned since I'm unsure yet in terms of fully applying it.
Before I even finish watching… I need to get this out of my system: I love “Howdy Howdy” and that itself is sort of an example of this channel’s vocab. Everybody knows who says “Howdy Howdy” on UA-cam… 😃❤
This is happening on my channel as we speak. I can just feel how healthy my community is. It all started with me telling people to drop the word "jellyfish" at the end of the video. I just wanted to see who made it to the end. It's turned into it's own thing and now the community is "Team Jellyfish." It's pretty crazy how having our own language has made the whole channel feel super healthy and it's growing steadily every single day. lol Now, I just got to design a "Team Jellyfish" set of merch and we will keep building. Thanks for sharing Nate. I think this is one of the most important things you can do on your channel.
I like (hidden gems, great voices, inspiration to start a new instrument) this is what i enjoy (good music, different interpretation of songs) i don't like (noisy music) what i appreciate (good voice, skilful singing and music instrument performances) what i hate (youtube being unfair to new content creators) what i wish happened (that i can keep on keeping records of my growth in learning songs and instruments) what i think is hilarious (fails) Thank you Nate! You're the best! I love doing your homework. I'll check out as many of your videos as possible whenever I'm free to.
Hey Nate ! I love your content since my UA-cam debuts this year, I grew easily because of your top content only 👍 And this video is probably the most valued one for anyone that need to understand how to keep a faithful audience for a long time ! Thank you ❤️
In my videos, I say “bro,” “man,” and “dude.” For example, i could say something like this flannel is a staple, man. These three words are very common and lots of people use them in every-day language. So it’s awesome to include them in my videos. I’ve said bro like “BROOOO” before on the channel. Also, Drew sounds like “dude.” So it’s fun to pay attention to oh this sounds like this when i say things. I could emphasize on that.
Hey Nate. I've learned so much from you and I can wholeheartedly agree with you. I was able to grow my channel to 150k and counting simply because I just talk to aspiring artists as if I'm just chillin' with them in a classroom. Nothing fancy.
For me, UA-cam is about real life - all the good and all the bad - both watching and creating. It creates real community and helps you find your purpose which isn't all about making as much money as you can from YT.
Nate that was hilarious how you mentioned recording on your couch when I just wrote down my thoughts for to read outloud on my couch for a video. What a coincidence haha
Your videos are so helpful! As a musician, I have been Dibble dabbling with my UA-cam trying to see what my audience wants and now I think I know! I took notes lol and hit the radically link, I can’t wait to learn more thank you so much Nate, which, by the way is my oldest nephews nickname! his name is Nathaniel 😊🙏🏽
Thank you for putting this concept into words! I don't think I understood the concept, even when you used my own channel as an example 😅 but the tennis example clicked for me! Thanks, Nate!
Much love Nate, grown quite a lot from watching your content, I haven’t had a viral video “yet” but to me, doing niche content, I’m okay with that, then again I’m doing the old fashion way of growing a channel and that’s over time, building a community, rather than aiming to go viral continuously. But I do have some other content planned on broader topics to try and branch out further. Either way, I’m happy with the growth so far. Again thanks mr Nate 🙏❤️
Extremely solid advice. I just made my list and it was eye opening honestly. S‘mores are indeed delicious, I’m glad we can all agree with that. ;) thanks for another great video!
This video made me add something to my first video, Nate. Thanks a bunch! I started UA-cam because you made it make sense to me. I just posted my first video yesterday.
I’ve been watching your videos for a long time and never commented, but this is exactly what I’m trying to work on at the moment so had to say thanks 😂
You are a champion Nate and one day you would hopefully take a moment to help me with my rut that I’m finding myself in!🦁🇿🇦 I love my style, editing, different angles documenting lions mostly and creating a virtual drive where I make you feel that you are in the Kruger park with me as a safari guide.. theirs only one thing missing.. and it’s me .. because I’m insecure of what might people think and I hold back of my true potential freez up.. so crazy but I still love it. Before Another burnout, feel free to hop over tell me what you think Im doing wrong🤦🏻♂️🇿🇦🦁 Cheers bud, love you content! Topnotch
Howdy howdy Nathaniel Nicholas! My channel recently popped like crazy at least in terms of subs and in comparison to the past year of slow growth. Our normal is a sub a day or every couple of days. And this weekend we gained almost 80! It was huge. Huge shout to everyone that joined. ❤ Keep doing great things bud!
Yeah, definitely need to put this information into a playlist. Too much went over my head, and I'll have to rewatch again later on. However, I think my next series of videos will be great once I get the feel of these concepts and strategies down.
It's early enough in the morning that I actually had the time and did the exercise (admittedly first time ever). It got me jazzed, and I was also able to rediscover a little nugget: I used to refer to a special segment of my audience as my "fancypants students" on my old ESL channel and do a little wink here and there. I need to bring that language back! Thanks as always, -Long-time listener, first-time caller
This is truly awesome advice and I appreciate it! I’m growing it seems in micro steps, good thing I’m Passionate about life and never giving up on yours 🤗👏😘
I'll need to work on how to apply this to my gardening vids but on my podcast I do talk encourage folk to follow it as a way to join the 'Joy Bunny Clan' (I'm Scottish so I think it makes sense!)
Just hit 4000 watch hours yesterday and 500 subs today in just over 3 months - delighted 😀. Roll on the next 500 subs lol. I stated out using an AI vioice on my vids, and changed 6 weeks ago to just recording them in my own voice - that defo made a difference.
Sounds pretty common sense. I just need to edit my mountain of editing work and try to arrange collabs when I’m somewhere where that’s possible again. 🤷🏼♂️
As a brand new channel, i would love to have the privilege of starting my own language. I get no impressions and it's depressing. Thank you for your advice though, I love your videos and energy. Thank you for feeding me.
I enjoy your videos and have learned a bunch. But for someone starting up a YT channel, how do we know the audience’s language? Are we guessing, based on what we are focusing on?
Love your content. I have watched every video on my personal channel. This is my first time commenting but a long time lurker. Lol. On my channel Horror, History, and hauntings! I use creepy little weirdos as a term of endearment for my audience. Lol
Hello, I am writing to express my interest in the Graphic Designer position. I have a strong background in creation of eye catching , thumbnails, reel covers, and other graphic assets. I am excited to contribute my skills and creativity to your team. Best regards.
So, I'm supposed to make assumptions about my audience without any scientific fact as the base, then combine that big IMO with my own personal IMO, and the combined result is a new IMO and that will magically make my audience different somehow? Got it.
This is a great practice, it was very revealing to write down and read back. Thinking about it like being fluent in the language of your audience is brilliant! Thanks Nate these videos are helping me through my first year on UA-cam as a channel.
my youtube channel views have dropped more than 95 percent and I barely get any subscribers.. why is that even so? what can you do? I will soon give up my youtube channel

I haven't as they're not as common in the UK, but I have subscribed to the group!
I haven't but I need to.

That is awesome! Sometimes I say “stay hydrated folks” lmbo
Started my finance channel a few weeks ago. Nice to find a community that helps support others starting their UA-cam journey. 👍🏻

Good stuff Nate, I discovered your channel an hour ago and I'm enjoying it👍 I'm inspired to keep pumping out content
That’s one of my challenges right now is opening up and being more personal in my videos. Definitely gonna work on that after watching this!
I always appreciate your tips. As a small channel I'm still trying to find a comfort zone at times.

Heyyyy I was in that visdummit picture in the beginning! Even though I was front row for this live.. i'm still watching this for a refresh!
Thanks Nate. Goodluck to all new channels out there
omg. Why did it take three replays for my brain to FINALLY dial in to the ‘how your followers speak’ exercise? smdh thank you!

“BOOP THE LIKE BUTTON” - is a great one in this channel… sometimes I love booping it just because I love the word “boop” when Nate says it 😂.
I agree it's so good! I wanted to do something similar showing my dog in a "boop the snoot" but Nate just does it the best!

Interesting idea! Subscribed! Thanks for this! Small UA-camr, need all the tips i can get! ❤❤❤
I like your style, I like your language, and I like your suggestions. Thank you so much!
Great video Nate! Also you have the best name ever!
Thank you, Nate! I have a lot to learn 😂 but got a new notebook at the ready to start actually doing your suggested exercises. 🤞📈
The common language (or words) I use are relaxation, focus, sleep. 😅 hope it works. Still struggling but enjoying the process
New feature to me, when you said BOOP the like BUTTON the like icons went red, uh-lala it's magic, it's subtle and it is nice!
This is powerful, Nate - thank you.
Good video, good advice. It'll be great to hear an audience use Hero's familiar lines. Cheers
Nate speaking our language again and the hair didn’t even need to come undone 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 bravo
Good Stuff! 🕊️
"no gloves"
"Peanut butter and jelly"
Here...those things are pretty meaningless - but our audience would feel both of those. 😁 -J
Thank you for sharing your wisdom!

If you ever get a chance to see Nate Live, do it. I saw this presentation at VidSummit. If it's even possible, he may be even more dynamic in person!
Whaaat you were there?! Awesome

Tell us what happened to channel makers after u left them did this channe still l growing and why ppl sell their channel,?
Small channel here providing life changing principles
Hey Nate what advice do you have for faceless gaming channels who want to hit 1000 subs?
Boop the button? I did ten minutes ago! 😂
Howdy howdy naty one! 😅
🤠 🤠
"boop" "howdy howdy"
Such a great topic, for sure!
Awesome 👍
BOOP!👍
my youtube channel views have dropped more than 95 percent and I barely get any subscribers.. why is that even so? what can you do? I will soon give up my youtube channel
Has anyone noticed a substantial drop in views from Election Day to now? Or just me?
Hello, sir. how are you? I saw your videos and I think I need to share with you but how to do it I am waiting for you
Nate language "boop" 😊
How did you know I was watching this while driving?
Why did the like button have a red glow around it when I was asked to boop it? 😧
