I literally can’t figure out why I have one of my videos as a huge outlier when my content is all similar. One video approaching 15k while most of the others sit around 300 views.
Ah back at it again with the comment engagement strategy! I’ve got to say out of all the UA-cam strategy channels this one has become my favorite. It’s not dull, and you’re giving legitimate strategy. Some others just feel like they’re repeating buzz words and trends that can’t even be confirmed. Hoping to get a roast in the future. I’m launching a kids channel this month!

Nate, i appreciate your roast! I’m listening to everything you said and taking notes! To a couple points.. i do 100% agree with the titling issue. Didn’t even THINK of that! So smart. Second, As far as “having more fun than the viewer” we ARE having a blast… we’ve been friends for 20 years and we have so much fun doing the show. None of it is scripted or acting. (Except for the skits) one thing I would note, we do “patron boxes“ where our patrons can send us food to eat live. Which includes them in a sense! But I will definitely keep what you said in mind. Finally, you’re absolutely right about the thumbnails. This is all completely new to us and is something we’re figuring out! And I need to step it up on that end. My thought was “let me throw a bunch of different stuff at the wall and see what sticks.” Which I totally see how that could be confusing. Nate your production and video ideas are fire 🔥 (pun intended). Being a topic first channel (unintentionally), I have been struggling to get people to stick for other content. Some videos have 70k plus, some have less than 100. 😵💫
YES! So excited for a new roast! Edited to say I feel like the thing I need most help with is finding the balance of what my audience wants vs what I feel like they need. Hopefully that makes sense. Yup, on what to include. My answer (at this point: I'm still in the preplanning stage) I'll use the topics that are commonly popular as the main content and the topics the audience needs to know but are not aware of, in the bonus section as an answer as to why the main topic is important but not the primary issue.
It's such a fun video to watch-full of humour and yet so respectful. Watching your roasting has made me see my own blind spots. If I were to be roasted, I would like the focus to be on the engagement I have with my audience, especially how I can encourage them to interact with me more. Btw, mayo can taste good, but you need to get a good one (like the famous Japanese one, yum).

Great roasts, Nate. One video I wish I downloaded was from a few years ago. You uploaded a channel review on the Project24 site. Unfortunately it looks like they've taking a bunch of your videos down now, but there was one video review in there for a gaming channel that was communicated so well about why it wasn't working. I now work with channels to help them grow, but I wish I had that one as a reference. Keep up the great work.
I struggle most with packaging. Especially the first 30 seconds (for me that belongs to packaging thumbnail, title, intro) how to hook people and confirm the video at the same time and not giving away everything without being obvious about it
Interesting! So, understanding our strengths and weaknesses plus making sure our thread in every video has a connection to the audience makes for a memorable experience for the audience. I may have worded that wrong, but I feel like I understand what I need to do now!
The thing I really like about you and your channel is I really feel you are engaging and genuine and passionate about what you are saying. Other presenters do the same thing but I can really sense they are 'acting' the enthusiasm. Thanks for the info and the advice!

I'm pretty sure I'm all of those. My audience is SUPER niche, and I started as a tutorial channel, which I'd like to not be limited to. Compared to many channels in my niche, I'm doing too little, and yet doing even that takes an agonizingly long time.
It really does become a second job. I don't know where your funds are, and it's not my business, but could you find someone to help? Maybe someone who needs to build a portfolio for editing and such who would be a bit more affordable?

After spending the better part of the past 13 years of listening to social media gurus, you are by far the most authentic channel to help fellow UA-camrs and explaining things in a way that makes the most sense (at least to me) 🥰🥰🥰
Hey Nate! I wanna say great video, I'm just making this comment so I can list out a few things I've learnt from this video. 1 - Find what your audience likes about your channel and then amplify it 2 - Find what your audience doesn't like about your channel/video and tone down/remove those elements. 3 - Give viewers a reason too stick around, e.g involve the audience in the video, have fun with a friend in a video but make sure you involve the audience in that fun 4 - Don't be so chaotic with your videos/thumbnails/channel topics that audiences have no idea whats going on (So make titles/thumbnails which are clear about what are going on in your video), (I do think a bit of chaos on a channel can be good, as long as you have videos which are high quality and ALREADY have an established audience, I don't yet so I should steer away from being too chaotic) 5 - Develop your 'thing', aka get the audience to associate certain things with you so that you stand out more in their mind. These are all the major takeaways that stick out too me after watching this video and Nate if you're reading this, hi : )
This was great advice nate. I have a gaming channel and I started by making guides but I am leaning into edited let’s play videos now. It’s been hard trying to move within another niche but with regular uploads now I feel I have the opportunity to gain that audience I was looking for. The “several video uploads to keep them around” is the one that dunk in. Thanks for the help again mate 👍🏼

I just recorded a video and would have finished editing it, but the lightingin the video was so bad, I decided to throw it away and start over. But I was going to start over with the same idea...and after having seen your video, I now realize I need to make my video completely different, so my viewers will enjoy it more and I don't bring a boring video. These videos are always entertaining but also insightful. I think the biggest problem with my channel is probably relevance. the game i'm currently playing dropped in popularity quickly after release, and i took nearly a year long break after starting ( personal issues ) Pretty positive i don't talk enough, or sound excited enough though, despite it being a very chilly cozy game, its not as entertaining i guess. still up for a roast though as long as you're not too harsh :P

8:25 this is a wonderful point that not enough people appreciate! -- recording yourself having fun IS NOT ENOUGH! You have to have your audience BUY INTO THE FUN, FEEL LIKE THEY'RE COMING ALONG W/YOU, otherwise it's like you're at a party while a bunch of people who've known each other for 15 years are drinking and reminiscing and telling in-jokes and generally not including you, and you're just sitting there watching them, not talking, and you're not allowed to drink b/c you're driving them home. OFF TOPIC: this is why I didn't LOOOVE that Beatles documentary that came out a few years ago. Musically/historically interesting, but I felt like I wasn't part of their fun. Your mileage may vary!
A lot of streamers make this mistake as well, which is even worse because it's a major part of their job to interact with chat. Ignoring your live audience is a major turn off for me.
Second Comment. These roasts are enlightening and fun - great stuff. Excellent actually. However, they are probably best for the channel that is perking along but not growing to thier potential. I'll start my new channel in the next month or so. One thing I hope to avoid is the chaos that frequently comes along with a new project. Random information in no particular order and priority scattered around. Things like notes in a spiral notebook, sticky notes and scrap paper in little piles on my desk, multple word docs in different folders. Essentially a file system that puts everything in piles of 1... As I said, Chaos. This is somewhat managable while still in the learning stage (where I am right now) but important information and action items quickly get lost in the overwhelm of production. A video (or series) explaining the overall process of running the channel to include the "back office" as well as content creation would be greatly appreciated. Possibly even well watched by your audience.

It's really hard to many creators to cut their footage down, takes a while to realize all that filming isn't important to a viewer, the important parts of it are what matters. 60 minutes worth of footage could mean a good 5 or 6 minute video or even less.
I'm always impressed on how many informations you're delivering even by simply analyzing someone's channel... my issue is though that they seem so clear and logical while I watch you but then, when it's time to apply them I epically fail😂. But I'll keep on trying. Thanks for the huge help and support you give us 🎉

funny because "pork butt roast" is such a common thing that I imagined you, showing up and the portly pork butt has literally in the comments pregaming early, still raw, already drunk, and counting on you to season it.
I think for me is the rhythm of the video. How long or short the idea of a segment is to convey the message without losing. When I make my content, I try to make it based on the questions how and why. I find myself when I watch other’s content those two questions popping a lot. So I try to be an audience while I create content.
What up Nate? I have a small channel and I often watch your videos for advice on growing or rather improving it. I think my biggest struggle is being boring. I don’t have a loud or exited personality. That and while my channel is about outdoors stuff (camping, fishing, boating etc…) I think it’s just not niched down enough to be successful. My videos range between 30 views and 130,000 views. And my latest two videos are around 30 views. WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT ZACH COULD HAVE JUST PUT THAT INFORMATION ON A CHART IMAGE WAS HUGE FOR ME. I have a problem with dragging out explanations too. I’m about to get my first $100 check from UA-cam and I am seriously considering giving up the channel because of the roller coaster of emotions from the successful and then highly unsuccessful videos. Congratulations on your success, you have earned it! Thanks for all that you do.
I think i am actually the biggest shorts creator in my niche, but I always feel like something is still holding me back, it would be very interesting to have somebody from an outside perspective point out where i am still lacking😄

Yh, i also had the theory that ppl only watch that much ss a week and even if i'd put out more content the vids would just take away views from each other, except regulars, most probably only watch shinobi striker videos once in a while, but for me i think it really kinda makes sense to specialize and niche down, bc as a professional esports coach i kinda hahe a unique seeling point in this scene specifically and if my channel stays strictly shinobi striker i may not reslly make any significant amounts of money with my content, but i can build a very loyal audience that trusts me a lot and have a lot of cool option to setup memberships specifically catered towards them. Members only vids obviously with guides on more in depth and advanced stuff, strategy guides, proper training units, unique insights from real esports that most of them otherwise wouldnt have, a private discord, i can give them my business number so they can directly contact me and i answer within 24 hours and regularly have a look at their gameplay, do replay analysis with them or show then some stuff here and there, playing or training with me etc. As an autistic person i also really enjoy being able to engage with my special interest and I usually mainly just focus on one game at a time. I also usually have trouble getting everything covered that i want to as far as updates etc go, so idk if i would have the capacity to cover another topic on the side. So what i am looking for is more finding out how i can improve what i do rather than looking into what else i could do that would do better. But i get your point. I just dont feel like its the right thing for me to do as off now. I plan on sometime in the future, mayve if the game dies off one day or if i really wanna branch out for other reasons, doing content on gaming theory, esports, training and learning theory, that kinda stuff

@@SenseiiBoba I clicked through your channel and mainly noticed one, the high amount of content you've made on this game (which gud job btw 😁) and 2 I noticed sorting by popular that it tends to be videos from a while ago both in shorts and longform. While obviously that could also simply be from the newer ones being newer such a big difference implies something else. However I don't think your content has gotten worse hence I gave that as a possibility.
@@V1ktorGee interesting... i mean i had a couple of vids that popped off in comparison to others that are older, but i would say in general, except the last 3 weeks, bc the game was down for 2 weeks, i get more views overall tho. And i still have like 3 or 4 short per month that get significantly more views than my avg shorts, thats usually when a new weapon drops that pplnare excited about. I think it has more to do with the fact that lately i just sometimes been dropping a bit of low effort filler content, that i knew that still a couple of people will really enjoy but in the grand scheme of things its not actual proper content. I just had a 2 shorts per day upload streak going for a couple months and i kinda dont wanna drop it. Which is probably kinda stupid in a way, i dont want ppl to see 2 or 3 vids from me and be like "eeeh... wasnt all thaz crazy", but I also thought it might be worth trying to keep up that schedule for a while bc it allows me to still be present in peoples everyday life and show them some cool combos and stuff that they wouldnt really see ingame online while i work on longform content and i think that this might have just built me a pretty loyal core audience that is used to getting advice or inspiration from me basically daily. Also allows me to test out which kinds topics or which types of videos go better or worse usually and i also get a lot of practice in terms of design and stuff. That was kinda my thought process. My channel is growing faster and faster. Altho i can clearly see that on avg my shorts get less views i still get way more views in total and have more shorts that are above what i would usually get amongst a lot of shorts that perform slightly worse than what i have gotten on avg in the past. But yh i kinda had a similar thought, that ppl are just saturated and only watch that much shinobi striker content. Maybe it would make sense to lower the quantity and up the overall quality again, idk. I appreciate the feedback, i just think i would need more data to really tell. Thats why its good for me to get as much feedback as possible
I loved this, and think I might have a bit of Zack’s problem. I know my delivery can be a little dry. I don’t know if you can roast for this, but I’d love to figure out how I can make my channel spread more. People say really complimentary things about my videos; I’ve gotten many letters from people saying I’ve changed mystery writing for them. But my growth seems to be really static.

That roast was well done! I guess my issue is that I’m making a very niche factual channel relying on weird and wonderful footage that’s pretty difficult to get. Find your videos very informative though.
Suggestion to Zach Attack's channel description, replace that "Just another guy" for something more strong like "That one eating dude that does X" or something similar. Now he just presents himself like just a regular guy and nothing spectacular, while you should actually be that one guy who stands out! You got this
Love the video and also this is exactly why I consistently ask for a ‘soft roast’ haha. No, it felt like a good, honest review. I also feel like I can use what’s in this video to look at my own work. To answer your question about what I’d like help with on my channel (roast topic), I suppose I’d like to know most if I’ve got enough of that “stuff” to be on camera and hold ppl’s attention OR should I stick with audio narration over images of movies when talking about them? (Remember that I can’t use clips of movies and monetize so it would have to be a montage of movie images as the visual). Thanks!

I feel like Eats Unknown is trying to position themselves as 'The defining attraction" of the video. I feel like it should be the food instead. Food bigger in thumbnail and more B-Roll and more food angles needed to break patterns.
Hey Nate, great video! After reaching 15k subs within 6 months, our channel stopped growing. Our views have dropped, but we're still maintaining a 60 percent audience retention rate with those who do watch. How do we get out of mid-size channel hell??
Hi Nick, your enthusiastic way to revealing the truth helps us be better creators, and dare I say, better human beings. After reflecting on these poor guys I think I do a good job of stating why I exist in each video as well as the YT banner. I need you to roast me so vigorously that I discover the secret to why I am not involving my audience. My retention is low for the most part. When I have fun and make a video the length of the average view then it doesn’t get watched all the way either. I am almost ready to unconditionally surrender for your valuable services. My videos which are search based like reviews and training videos usually do well but my more general information and vlog posts do not get many views. I saw the community post yesterday about a new roast and I woke up to something delightful! Roasts are the BEST. And thank you for saying that about eating and chewing on camera. I'm a surgeon and i see a lot of gross things. (A LOT.) But I can't handle the chewing.
I think I might have a 'dry' problem with my channel too. I do videos on a mixture of AliExpress and Microbrand watches. But the Microbrand ones always seem to get far fewer views. I always thought it was just those type of watches... But now I'm not so sure. I think I need a good old roasting.
Great video as always! I find my biggest struggle is taking your advice and figuring out how to successfully apply it to my niche. The bit on credibility makes sense, but I am not sure how to transport that into my content?

@@Thebeautyandthebeardadventures i saw your thumbnail/titles. Not good. You need to remember that UA-cam title/thumbnails are less ‘describe the video’ and more ‘elevator pitch’. If you only had 7 seconds with someone in an elevator, and you needed to tell them to watch your video, how would you advertise it? (You’re allowed to carry 1 photo: that’s your thumbnail).
For example in Sunrise Memphas food video, actionable change would be to show a picture of food. No restaurant advertises their food by waving their logo around

And I think the quality of your phone is perfectly fine right now on UA-cam. But you seem to be lacking many fundamentals to the creative/technical side. It just feels too green. Gotta go back to UA-cam school and figure out how to make videos, UA-cam/Google anything. Sorry if all this was a bit harsh, but it’s really honest advice. You two seem like real genuine people and the spirit of the content you make is what UA-cam was made for. Your spirit is awesome, your techniques are shit lol
I found that a big point that might be missed that Nate said is that people need to be looking for what your video is about. Only after a long time and a lot of success does YT give a hoot about your videos. The only way to get views is having a topic that is being searched for. Search is very different to the normal YT algorithm. If you feel ignored make a video about something being searched for that does not have much competition. Trust me you will suddenly be noticed.

I could use a roasting. A question I think about often is am I doing everything right or is there something that is hindering me from doing better. Is it Thumbnails? Hook? Titles? Am I following a broad niche when I should niche down more in the beginning then widen my content? So many questions...

I’ve got to say out of all the UA-cam strategy channels this one has become my favorite. It’s not dull, and you’re giving legitimate strategy. Some others just feel like they’re repeating buzz words and trends that can’t even be confirmed. Hoping to get a roast in the future. I’m launching a kids channel this month!

To a couple points.. i do 100% agree with the titling issue. Didn’t even THINK of that! So smart.
Second, As far as “having more fun than the viewer” we ARE having a blast… we’ve been friends for 20 years and we have so much fun doing the show. None of it is scripted or acting. (Except for the skits) one thing I would note, we do “patron boxes“ where our patrons can send us food to eat live. Which includes them in a sense! But I will definitely keep what you said in mind.
Finally, you’re absolutely right about the thumbnails. This is all completely new to us and is something we’re figuring out! And I need to step it up on that end. My thought was “let me throw a bunch of different stuff at the wall and see what sticks.” Which I totally see how that could be confusing. I feel like my couple last ones have been better and I’m only gonna get better.

My answer (at this point: I'm still in the preplanning stage) I'll use the topics that are commonly popular as the main content and the topics the audience needs to know but are not aware of, in the bonus section as an answer as to why the main topic is important but not the primary issue.

It's such a fun video to watch-full of humour and yet so respectful. Watching your roasting has made me see my own blind spots. If I were to be roasted, I would like the focus to be on the engagement I have with my audience, especially how I can encourage them to interact with me more. Btw, mayo can taste good, but you need to get a good one (like the famous Japanese one, yum).

Great roasts, Nate. One video I wish I downloaded was from a few years ago. You uploaded a channel review on the Project24 site. Unfortunately it looks like they've taking a bunch of your videos down now, but there was one video review in there for a gaming channel that was communicated so well about why it wasn't working. I now work with channels to help them grow, but I wish I had that one as a reference.

I struggle most with packaging. Especially the first 30 seconds (for me that belongs to packaging thumbnail, title, intro) how to hook people and confirm the video at the same time and not giving away everything without being obvious about it
Interesting! So, understanding our strengths and weaknesses plus making sure our thread in every video has a connection to the audience makes for a memorable experience for the audience. I may have worded that wrong, but I feel like I understand what I need to do now!
The thing I really like about you and your channel is I really feel you are engaging and genuine and passionate about what you are saying. Other presenters do the same thing but I can really sense they are 'acting' the enthusiasm. Thanks for the info and the advice!
Thanks for this video. I was in a funk when I watched it three weeks ago and needed it. It helped me rethink and adjust my style to add more while retaining my informative side.
I'm pretty sure I'm all of those. My audience is SUPER niche, and I started as a tutorial channel, which I'd like to not be limited to. Compared to many channels in my niche, I'm doing too little, and yet doing even that takes an agonizingly long time.
It really does become a second job. I don't know where your funds are, and it's not my business, but could you find someone to help? Maybe someone who needs to build a portfolio for editing and such who would be a bit more affordable?

Hey Nate! I wanna say great video, I'm just making this comment so I can list out a few things I've learnt from this video.
1 - Find what your audience likes about your channel and then amplify it
2 - Find what your audience doesn't like about your channel/video and tone down/remove those elements.
3 - Give viewers a reason too stick around, e.g involve the audience in the video, have fun with a friend in a video but make sure you involve the audience in that fun
4 - Don't be so chaotic with your videos/thumbnails/channel topics that audiences have no idea whats going on (So make titles/thumbnails which are clear about what are going on in your video), (I do think a bit of chaos on a channel can be good, as long as you have videos which are high quality and ALREADY have an established audience, I don't yet so I should steer away from being too chaotic)
5 - Develop your 'thing', aka get the audience to associate certain things with you so that you stand out more in their mind.
These are all the major takeaways that stick out too me after watching this video and Nate if you're reading this, hi : )
This was great advice nate. I have a gaming channel and I started by making guides but I am leaning into edited let’s play videos now.
It’s been hard trying to move within another niche but with regular uploads now I feel I have the opportunity to gain that audience I was looking for. The “several video uploads to keep them around” is the one that dunk in. Thanks for the help again mate 👍🏼

I just recorded a video and would have finished editing it, but the lightingin the video was so bad, I decided to throw it away and start over. But I was going to start over with the same idea...and after having seen your video, I now realize I need to make my video completely different, so my viewers will enjoy it more and I don't bring a boring video. These videos are always entertaining but also insightful. I think the biggest problem with my channel is probably relevance. the game i'm currently playing dropped in popularity quickly after release, and i took nearly a year long break after starting ( personal issues )
Pretty positive i don't talk enough, or sound excited enough though, despite it being a very chilly cozy game, its not as entertaining i guess. still up for a roast though as long as you're not too harsh :P

8:25 this is a wonderful point that not enough people appreciate! -- recording yourself having fun IS NOT ENOUGH! You have to have your audience BUY INTO THE FUN, FEEL LIKE THEY'RE COMING ALONG W/YOU, otherwise it's like you're at a party while a bunch of people who've known each other for 15 years are drinking and reminiscing and telling in-jokes and generally not including you, and you're just sitting there watching them, not talking, and you're not allowed to drink b/c you're driving them home.
OFF TOPIC: this is why I didn't LOOOVE that Beatles documentary that came out a few years ago. Musically/historically interesting, but I felt like I wasn't part of their fun. Your mileage may vary!
A lot of streamers make this mistake as well, which is even worse because it's a major part of their job to interact with chat. Ignoring your live audience is a major turn off for me.

These roasts are enlightening and fun - great stuff. Excellent actually.
However, they are probably best for the channel that is perking along but not growing to thier potential.
I'll start my new channel in the next month or so. One thing I hope to avoid is the chaos that frequently comes along with a new project. Random information in no particular order and priority scattered around. Things like notes in a spiral notebook, sticky notes and scrap paper in little piles on my desk, multple word docs in different folders. Essentially a file system that puts everything in piles of 1... As I said, Chaos.
This is somewhat managable while still in the learning stage (where I am right now) but important information and action items quickly get lost in the overwhelm of production.
A video (or series) explaining the overall process of running the channel to include the "back office" as well as content creation would be greatly appreciated. Possibly even well watched by your audience.

Been watching this channel for a while and this is the first time I feel that the advice given directly relates to what I do. Taking points
It's really hard to many creators to cut their footage down, takes a while to realize all that filming isn't important to a viewer, the important parts of it are what matters. 60 minutes worth of footage could mean a good 5 or 6 minute video or even less.

I'm always impressed on how many informations you're delivering even by simply analyzing someone's channel... my issue is though that they seem so clear and logical while I watch you but then, when it's time to apply them I epically fail😂.

funny because "pork butt roast" is such a common thing that I imagined you, showing up and the portly pork butt has literally in the comments pregaming early, still raw, already drunk, and counting on you to season it.
I think for me is the rhythm of the video. How long or short the idea of a segment is to convey the message without losing. When I make my content, I try to make it based on the questions how and why. I find myself when I watch other’s content those two questions popping a lot. So I try to be an audience while I create content.

I have a small channel and I often watch your videos for advice on growing or rather improving it.
I think my biggest struggle is being boring. I don’t have a loud or exited personality. That and while my channel is about outdoors stuff (camping, fishing, boating etc…) I think it’s just not niched down enough to be successful. My videos range between 30 views and 130,000 views. And my latest two videos are around 30 views.
WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT ZACH COULD HAVE JUST PUT THAT INFORMATION ON A CHART IMAGE WAS HUGE FOR ME.
I have a problem with dragging out explanations too.

Yh, i also had the theory that ppl only watch that much ss a week and even if i'd put out more content the vids would just take away views from each other, except regulars, most probably only watch shinobi striker videos once in a while, but for me i think it really kinda makes sense to specialize and niche down, bc as a professional esports coach i kinda hahe a unique seeling point in this scene specifically and if my channel stays strictly shinobi striker i may not reslly make any significant amounts of money with my content, but i can build a very loyal audience that trusts me a lot and have a lot of cool option to setup memberships specifically catered towards them. Members only vids obviously with guides on more in depth and advanced stuff, strategy guides, proper training units, unique insights from real esports that most of them otherwise wouldnt have, a private discord, i can give them my business number so they can directly contact me and i answer within 24 hours and regularly have a look at their gameplay, do replay analysis with them or show then some stuff here and there, playing or training with me etc. As an autistic person i also really enjoy being able to engage with my special interest and I usually mainly just focus on one game at a time. I also usually have trouble getting everything covered that i want to as far as updates etc go, so idk if i would have the capacity to cover another topic on the side. So what i am looking for is more finding out how i can improve what i do rather than looking into what else i could do that would do better. But i get your point. I just dont feel like its the right thing for me to do as off now. I plan on sometime in the future, mayve if the game dies off one day or if i really wanna branch out for other reasons, doing content on gaming theory, esports, training and learning theory, that kinda stuff

@@SenseiiBoba I clicked through your channel and mainly noticed one, the high amount of content you've made on this game (which gud job btw 😁) and 2 I noticed sorting by popular that it tends to be videos from a while ago both in shorts and longform. While obviously that could also simply be from the newer ones being newer such a big difference implies something else. However I don't think your content has gotten worse hence I gave that as a possibility.
@@V1ktorGee interesting... i mean i had a couple of vids that popped off in comparison to others that are older, but i would say in general, except the last 3 weeks, bc the game was down for 2 weeks, i get more views overall tho. And i still have like 3 or 4 short per month that get significantly more views than my avg shorts, thats usually when a new weapon drops that pplnare excited about. I think it has more to do with the fact that lately i just sometimes been dropping a bit of low effort filler content, that i knew that still a couple of people will really enjoy but in the grand scheme of things its not actual proper content. I just had a 2 shorts per day upload streak going for a couple months and i kinda dont wanna drop it. Which is probably kinda stupid in a way, i dont want ppl to see 2 or 3 vids from me and be like "eeeh... wasnt all thaz crazy", but I also thought it might be worth trying to keep up that schedule for a while bc it allows me to still be present in peoples everyday life and show them some cool combos and stuff that they wouldnt really see ingame online while i work on longform content and i think that this might have just built me a pretty loyal core audience that is used to getting advice or inspiration from me basically daily. Also allows me to test out which kinds topics or which types of videos go better or worse usually and i also get a lot of practice in terms of design and stuff. That was kinda my thought process. My channel is growing faster and faster. Altho i can clearly see that on avg my shorts get less views i still get way more views in total and have more shorts that are above what i would usually get amongst a lot of shorts that perform slightly worse than what i have gotten on avg in the past. But yh i kinda had a similar thought, that ppl are just saturated and only watch that much shinobi striker content. Maybe it would make sense to lower the quantity and up the overall quality again, idk. I appreciate the feedback, i just think i would need more data to really tell. Thats why its good for me to get as much feedback as possible

I loved this, and think I might have a bit of Zack’s problem. I know my delivery can be a little dry. I don’t know if you can roast for this, but I’d love to figure out how I can make my channel spread more. People say really complimentary things about my videos; I’ve gotten many letters from people saying I’ve changed mystery writing for them. But my growth seems to be really static.

Hey Nate, great video! After reaching 15k subs within 6 months, our channel stopped growing. Our views have dropped, but we're still maintaining a 60 percent audience retention rate with those who do watch. How do we get out of mid-size channel hell??

After reflecting on these poor guys I think I do a good job of stating why I exist in each video as well as the YT banner. I need you to roast me so vigorously that I discover the secret to why I am not involving my audience. My retention is low for the most part. My videos which are search based like reviews and training videos usually do well but my more general information and vlog posts do not get many views. I saw the community post yesterday about a new roast and I woke up to something delightful! Roasts are the BEST. And thank you for saying that about eating and chewing on camera. I'm a surgeon and i see a lot of gross things. (A LOT.) But I can't handle the chewing.
I think I might have a 'dry' problem with my channel too. I do videos on a mixture of AliExpress and Microbrand watches. But the Microbrand ones always seem to get far fewer views. I always thought it was just those type of watches... But now I'm not so sure. I think I need a good old roasting.

You need to remember that UA-cam title/thumbnails are less ‘describe the video’ and more ‘elevator pitch’. If you only had 7 seconds with someone in an elevator, and you needed to tell them to watch your video, how would you advertise it? (You’re allowed to carry 1 photo: that’s your thumbnail).

But you seem to be lacking many fundamentals to the creative/technical side. It just feels too green. Gotta go back to UA-cam school and figure out how to make videos, UA-cam/Google anything.

I found that a big point that might be missed that Nate said is that people need to be looking for what your video is about. Only after a long time and a lot of success does YT give a hoot about your videos. The only way to get views is having a topic that is being searched for. Search is very different to the normal YT algorithm. If you feel ignored make a video about something being searched for that does not have much competition. Trust me you will suddenly be noticed.

I could use a roasting. A question I think about often is am I doing everything right or is there something that is hindering me from doing better. Is it Thumbnails? Hook? Titles? Am I following a broad niche when I should niche down more in the beginning then widen my content? So many questions...
