- Quest Pro is CHEAPER! But is it NOW Worth Getting?
So the Meta Quest Pro has had quite a big price reduction. But should you buy it now? It's a great headset but is it really worth it? We discuss that in this video.

They're just gonna keep cutting the price until it's $400 then name it Quest 3
Oh no! 😱
😂
Very funny! But to be fair they would probably spray paint it white first
Didn't age well. 24 goofies 😅.
I sold my quest 2 and got it... I love it (especially at this cheaper price). I use it for 3D modeling/work so for me it was definitely worth it.
Same the upgrade over the Quest 2 is NIGHT and DAY. I don't know why these UA-camrs are bashing it. YES it's expensive but it's not a "small" upgrade over Quest 2. It's even more of an upgrade imo going from Q1 to Q2 was. I could never go back.
@@drewpatterson8009 I have used the CV2, index, G2, Rift S, and Quest 2.. Not a single one of those felt like as big of an upgrade as the Quest Pro. The edge to edge clarity, the PCVR when supersampling on wired link, the Air link quality.. and my god the lenses? I might be drooling at it a little here after experiencing it. But I am a "veteran" VR user and this was the first headset that made me wanna actually upgrade my Quest 2 which is the main headset I used before the Pro. If there's anything that stands above all other headsets I used it the lenses; Not having godrays and blur and the massive sweet spot is a HUGE change in my level of immersion with the better colors as well. I do use glasses so with other headsets the godrays and light bloom stacks on top of my glasses if that makes any sense. Oh and huge points for comfort. I see some people have issues with the forehead, but my big ass forehead seems to feel fine. DIY top strap as well for when I do more active stuff helps to hold it in place even more.
For reference I play everything from VRChat to flight sims with HOTAS to basically anything else thats interesting.
In VRC its the colours and comfort for long use. Being able to look beneath me has saved me from destroying my feet so I prefer no blinders. Also never once had my glasses fog up or get drenched in sweat anymore.
In flight sims its the clarity on wired link with supersampling; Nothing has beat it for me
You getting a Quest Pro? Let us know in the comments

Great video as always thank you.
Its only for a week in US, its to go against the pricing of the Vive XR elite, which neither of them are worth the price.
Yeah Vive not worth it either. They really need to stop marketing them using specs now and instead killer programs.
Great video thank you!!!
I’m waiting to see what comes out this year! I live in the US but I would not buy a Pico because of Byte Dance. Great video! Thank you!
Uh I hate to break it you but I haven't heard of VRChat having eye tracking, I even saw no settings for it. If I'm wrong correct me in the comments. Also, no eye tracking for rift apps tho in the future it probably will be supported.
The Quest Pro seems to make about as much since as Meta Horizons Worlds
tell us you haven't used a pro without....
I've got a Quest Pro (paid the full price before Christmas) and its the best PCVR image quality I've ever seen.
It's massively sharper and clearer than every other headset I've tried. It's even more amazing as it's technically slightly lower resolution than the Quest 2. There's some serious tech magic going on there.
It really has to be seen to be believed.
For high end PCVR it's worth it, if you have the money.
I'm now selling my Index, as that looks so low resolution by comparison, and the new Touch controllers actually track better than the Index ones and have much better haptics.
The wireless and tethered link quality is massively better than Quest 2 using the same settings.
It is very expensive, but it is also the best all-round and most versatile headset currently.
How do you feel about the quest pro vs the psvr2 I’m stuck between
@@Intothematrixs For me a Pro makes sense as I already have a huge library of Quest, Oculus PC and Steam VR games, plus a decent gaming PC, so upgrading from a Quest 2 & Index to a Pro meant I didn't have to re-invest in a new games library.
If you haven't already got a huge VR games library, or a decent gaming PC, then a PSVR2 makes sense, especially if you already have a PS5.
Many of the PSVR2 games are ports from Quest or PC that I've already played so it's not as appealing to me, especially as I'd have to get a PS5 as well.
@@stephenrobertson6025 I’m starting from scratch I don’t have the ps5 or a gaming pc but I recently order the kat walk c2 plus treadmill and a haptic vest I bought the quest 2 but returned it because it was foggy and blurry and even on a vr treadmill it still got me sick so I figured it was the quality of the headset so I’m try to get a decent price one because I’ve spent quite a good amount already lol but I do want the newest games 😂 but I have heard psvr2 is dropping a listing of new vr game release’s soon if they haven’t already but from what I see so far there might be more titles on pc than psvr2 I got a email the other day about haptic gloves for controllers that are being released I figured whatever I can sync the gloves with is what ima might be going for but I’m still looking into things
Have you ever used the Pico 4? I'm considering buying either Pico 4 or Quest Pro for PCVR. Bought a PSVR2 but sending it back as mura is awfully distracting. Have decent enough PC (3080) and did enjoy Index but sold that a few months ago.
Now the Quest Pro is going to be around £999 and actually even less if you go to ebay (new ones still sell for around £800) that does make it even more tempting.... Any thoughts? Thanks.
@@llamalandYT No, but the lenses on the Pro are the best in VR right now, and the Pros link and Airlink work better than the Pico's version. Most people have to use virtual desktop on Pico. It all depends if you're willing to spend the extra. The Pro and its controllers are much better but obviously more expensive.
I agree 100%. but I am tempting to buy just Quest pro controllers and pair with Quest 2. because I am just so annoyed to keep losing my tracking when I do use bow or bow move. I hope they give us some discount on pro controller too.
no chance I get this. I might be going for the psvr2, though.
Do you have a quest pro, or are you reviewing specs?
Nice and honest. Unlike some vr youtubers on meta's pay check. Pico 4 is better
Lmao with those swim lenses. A novice can read a spec sheet. Get one in your hands lol you sound wet behind the ears
I got to poke at a Quest 2 briefly when a friend brought it over, the tracking dropping when I reach for my hips to grab ammo or a holstered sidearm is frustrating as hell. If I had a 2 already, I'd buy the grips. But since I don't, and the Quest 3 won't have face tracking goodies either, I might just pickup a used pro and go ham.
I am mulling over getting one second hand if the price is right, I think the colour passthrough (for casual web browsing and just walking about) would justify the upgrade for the right price. I also conciously aware that the quest 3 is likely coming in October time, and will proably have as good colour passthrough, and as you pointed out its processor ought to have a higher spec, so maybe its best just holding off until October.
There's a lot on ebay for 850 ish which really isn't bad.
The color passthrough isn't impressive. If you colorized the black and white of your Quest 2, it's roughly the same thing. The AR claims are wildly overblown, it's almost completely useless.
@@VRCauldron Thats what I was thinking. I'll wait a bit longer for the prices to go lower than that
@@xzygy Thats a shame the use case I has in mind was just for those times when you are simply surfing the web but need to walk around the house to get a beer or some food out of the fridge orsomething like that. Its OK in black and white, but I imagine it would be even better in colour, even if the image is grainy.
@@c6jones720 grainy and lots of distortions, just like the black and white. Enough to walk to the kitchen certainly, so your use case might work, it’s just not going to be an amazing experience, and the augmented reality features advertised are probably false advertising. It can place objects in 3d space, but the space it’s putting it into isn’t somewhere you want to hang out lol
Would anyone consider upgrading to quest pro from quest 2 for $500? Basically $100 more than the current quest 2 256gb. Would it be worth it if I planned to get the 3 as well?
Goal of use is for productivity with the virtual monitors as well as vr gaming.
I'm super tempted if this price drop affects 2nd hand. Eye tracking is not just important for chat avatars it's for dynamic foveated rendering....
And unpopular opinion Pico 4 is rubbish 😂
@@Sep000001 Yes, but it's still better than quest pro
I got my psvr2 coming in a few weeks. I’m good
I have a psvr2 and quest pro and yet the pro is still my main headset. Don't get me wrong, I am in love with the psvr2 but I have never had an issue with the pro either and have gotten my money's worth long term.
Sold my vive pro 2 for $900 bucks and purchased a used like new quest pro for $500 bucks and its amazing. Okay I have a i7 10th gen and rtx 3080 the link cable sucks! Purchased a 50 dollar one and the game kept freezing after 5 minutes also it would stutter alot! Purchased the oculus link cable for 80 at best buy and it was the same crap seeing some stuttering artifacts, and the game would freeze after 5min. Finally purchased a 100Foot CAT8 ethernet cable from Amazon 40 bucks. I ran it from my wifi router thats all the way across my house to my gaming pc and launched airlink and it sucked! Lag was terrible 😪 so I got Virtual Desktop and WOW blown away it works perfectly! You'd never know you were streaming the game it feels like its playing natively like pcvr not only that but its %100 better looking than my old Vive Pro 2. I love the clean image and everything looks crisp and colorful HLYX is a totally different looking game and the fact I can play without being tethered by a wire is awesome! I have Cox internet 500mbps speed wifi 5 router that supports gigablast. I see zero artifacts or compression using virtual desktop high setting bitrate at 150 the streaming codec I have set to Hevc 10 bit. I can walk to my living room far from my gaming pc and it still streams fine no lag and looks incredible. The only thing I dislike is the sound sucks and the docking station to charge everything bad design. Comfort is incredible no more pressure on my face only on tip of forhead but doesn't bother me at all.
I watch anime and movies on it looks so good much clearer than the vive 2 was and much more enjoyable. I like that it has removable light blockers I dont use them that often I like the fact I feel connected to the outside world when I am watching a movie.
Anyone worried if the image is not going to be great you'll be blown away by the new pancake lens and just how good the local dimming and colors are on the quest pro. Okay I think I raved enough about this headset lol. You'll just have to take my word.
If you use it as a standalone its great but gaming performance still kinda sucks and if couse those ugly mobile graphics are trash. I haven't used AR yet but whatever. Also you get eye tracking and facial tracking kinda cool but I haven't tried it yet...
I also had the HP reverb g2 years ago thought it was just okay windows vr sucks and the sweet spot sucks and the tracking was hit or miss. I really liked my vive pro 2 paired with index controllers it was awesome and visuals were pretty great and had a pretty good size sweet spot but was heavy couldn't play any fast paced games since the headset would slide around unless I tightent the shit out of it but that was uncomfortable after 30min to an hour I was worried the quest pro wasn't gonna look good but it looks miles better and the experience is better as well as the comfort. Thanks for reading.
Edit I did purchase and test a 16ft USB A to USB C high speed 10gb cable, 15 bucks on Amazon and it worked for Oculus Link but still had some stutters here and there I saved that cable incase my internet ever goes down, since I rather use Virtual Desktop it's still more smoother and looks just as good but I get to play wirelessly 😊
Quest Pro was created for work but, as quest 2 user which have almost same resolution screen. Resolution is too low for work, feel likee resolution is 480p-720p
Yet it shipped with exactly zero native productivity apps. Just baffling.
@@xzygy I bought quest 2 for productivity first, because I travel and cant bring multiple monitors. But for work I am disappointed in everything.
The most use case for me is gaming.
Second 3D movies, but movies are to pixelate if I set up desire distance
@@iraklimgeladze5223 I had the exact same reaction and use case for the pro. I had this dream of sitting down in my plane seat, putting on my headset and dropping a keyboard on the tray table. Getting work done on a multimonitor setup on a long flight. Sadly, you'd need to haul around a wireless access point and have your laptop on in order to make that work lol
@@xzygy haha same, I use smartphone tethering mode and wifi hotspot from laptop, it takes some time to set up and super annoying. Kill all motivation to study programming.
Still FOV is so small that multiple screen setup does not make sense.
Have tried watch movie?
@@iraklimgeladze5223 I have, but it’s not great either. Works well at home, but all the same issues come up while traveling. While on a flight, lack of internet access means you can’t stream, and I wasn’t able to get the inflight movies to work because the airlines make you use their phone apps, which don’t exist on quest. Very frustrating experience.
Isn't really much more powerful than the Quest 2? It's 50% faster... that's not... a small amount
just bought it....
it's more than worth it. the best purchase I've made in ages
P4 brightness, color and contrast are weak compared to the QP, but not $500 more better. If had not compared, ignorance is bliss and P4 is fine. It stands out now, in spite of the slightly better resolution on the P4. To me though the resolution is not enough of a trade off, since not that much difference there. Still not sure if will keep the QP.
Yea the p4 delivers around 80 nits to your eyes. Co.partrd to the valve index do 100 not at 100% brightness
I feel like the VR hardware is awesome but the software is what falls flat
If they put same next gen xr2 chip on Quest 3 then of course its worth buying but it won't so future games gonna be better quality on quest 3 and quest pro version games will not look good
price sounds right down under over here mate :(
I’m still buying the meta quest pro and I am saving money 💵
Keep an eye on ebay 👍
Meta has really dropped the ball this year and last imo when it comes to quality cheap VR for the consumer alot of strange questionable decisions. Pico4 has come along picked it up and said right how can we make this the best exp we can for the comsumer.
This is why vr is fookd
@Clive Clivington I wouldn't go that far but i feel Meta is trying to push it's consumer down a certain path that it wants them to go like Apple dose. Pico i more liken to how Windows XP was where everything is easy works and makes sense for the cosumer in mind. File management recording gameplay etc is so much more self explanatory or better on the PIco.
@@honeybadger9425 VR is fookd because people want cheap experiences instead of good ones
@@D-money813 people want accessible experiences. Just look at the quest 2 sales numbers. Personally I'm still waiting for a solid upgrade kit to come along and replace the Index.
@@honeybadger9425 unfortunately Pico being owned by ByteDance is a huge red flag.
Ps VR 2 , it's the 🤴
I really think this headset gets hate due to it being from Meta. I picked one up due to the sale and blows away my index. The entire screen is a sweet spot and is amazingly sharp and bright. I love dunking on Meta but this an amazing headset.
Mine just came in as I've been waiting for a decent headset to upgrade from my Index without having too many downgrades. Quest 2 was useless for me cause it was so blurry the second I moved my head cause the sweet spot was so small, but the Pros lenses are nearly flawless it's amazing. I'm still gonna miss the Knuckles, but I guess it's worth losing that to get a headset with a controller that doesn't break after 100 hours, better colors, no base stations, standalone so I can bring it places and show people, and best of all the clarity and increased resolution makes watching movies in it actually good if you ignore the less powerful audio. Only issue I gotta work out now is making it more comfortable cause damn does it make your forehead sore if you make it tight enough to not wobble too much. Probably it's biggest issue is we still have no third party accessories to improve the fit and comfort.
Edit: oh yea and while I didn't buy it for the passthrough, I tried out a virtual triple monitor setup with my MacBook and it worked really well. People said the resolution was too low to see text but I had no issues at all on websites even without zooming. Might actually turn into a workstation device, getting more value out of it. Hoping they can improve the passthrough quality though so I can see my keyboard easier though.
I wouldn't say the "entire" screen but about 80% of it.
I have it and at the edges it's still blurry
@@halcyonramirez6469 alright then I would say it's sharp where you would purposely look. If you're looking at the very edges it's cause you're going beyond where you'd naturally move your eyes and are stressing them anyways.
@@halcyonramirez6469 Interesting. You see that even in wired mode?
@@benjaminh1034 I'm usually on wireless. But that shouldn't matter. It's a limitation on the lens
I got one and it is disappointing. The best review is Mike's from Virtual Reality Oasis. He got everything spot on.
I really love mine. Absolutely amazing for PCVR.
@@stephenrobertson6025 Do you love the comfort? Comfort is terrible. A top strap is absolutely essential but none is included in the box.
@@dtz1000 I agree a top strap is essential for comfort. I tried a front to back one, but didn't like it but a side-to-side works great. I re-used the one from my Quest 1.
You shouldn't have to comfort mod a £1500 headset, but then everyone's heads are different and I've had to comfort mod every other headset I've owned, with different mods including facial interface replacements, straps and battery counterweights.
The worst was the Quest 1 which I had to go through a lot of different mods to find the best one.
The Index is probably the most comfortable out of all the headsets I've owned out of the box, but even then I needed to use the back cushion, a cotton facial interface cover, and grip boosters for the controllers to make it fully comfortable.
@@stephenrobertson6025 That's exactly what I did. I used a top strap I had from when I had the Quest 1. Lucky I had it otherwise I would be screwed.
Native 4k in every eye or go home
Lol, quest pro is best hmd overall
Lol… Yes, for poker it is not the better device. 😂
I'd love to see a video of a game with one player with face tracking 😂😂
If you're losing more in pokerstars vr with face and eye tracking you're not using it properly
Either way I don't want Meta to track my eyes is scanning my room not good enough 😂
When I was writing it I did think actually you could use it to look overly confident or nervous etc but it just didn't flow as well 😂😂
Imagine trying flatscreen gaming and play the most boring game ever. Get bored within 3 minutes, then never go back to flatscreen ever
Flat screen more fun because it has more content imagine playing vr then you end up getting robbed because you didn't hear or see the thieves 😂 vr just isn't practical for ppl who havd pets or family to take care off with flat screen you can still be aware unlike vr
@@stockpistol More stuff doesn't mean more fun. That's why I play only few games a day. What's so fun about moving your mouse around in the chair and trying to search the right keys to do all those actions compared to doing all the crouch, prone, aim, reloading, peaking to corners with your own real body that actually make the gameplay better?
Boy were you wrong. No mo pico and Quest is heading to China. Ouch.
I don't know why on earth they rushed this thing out so fast. It isn't even fit for businesses in anyway. Sad.
I am worried Quest 3 is going to be nothing special and/or super expensive. If that's the case I feel like VR is over they all really dropped the ball.
I imagine the quest 3 will have everything like the quest 2 except it will be built with even cheaper materials if that possible xD
Still not worth it...they know people are waiting for the Quest 3 at this point
Its still not worth it, i paid the £1500, so I know its totally not worth it! It has slightly more colour than pico 4. If u really want one go to CEX and get it for a £1000 with a 2 year guarantee
@samreynolds3766 a scam yeh?
Think I stick with my quest 1 tbh I don't really see any difference other than they got lazy when it comes to making games for the newer headsets higher resolution is cool and all but not for 1500 i brought my quest 1 for £230 a couple years back still doing fine other than my left controller got some drift battery Still lasts 6-8hours hours I happy
Yeah they probably want to get rid of many as possible Especially since the quest 3 is right around the corner Because once the quest 3 comes out The sales for anything else is going to drop I've been noticing them pushing the quest too a lot lately probably for that reason but I don't understand who's going to buy any headset right now when something so much better is just around the corner anyway I think anyone who buys a quest to or a quest pro right now they're going to have buyers remorse unless they just spend another $500 in a few months for the quest 3
Rumor is the Quest 3 isn’t going to be as powerful as the quest pro
@@Intothematrixs What rumor? Everything credible I have heard is that the quest 3 will be 2x more powerful with a next gen processor.

I am even more confused after watching your video.
Pico 4 is terrible headset and why don’t you support American made products
I support all good products. The Pico 4 is great especially for the price.
What's "terrible" about Pico 4? It's not perfect but it's really good for the price. Also, just about all the headsets (Meta ones included) are made in China
@@joshuadadad5414 quality wise the build is very flimsy 2ND it’s not a very arrractive looking headset like my quest pro and 3RD Meta devices is better overall in both software and quality designed
