odraudesalenro I see where you're coming from. However, the time of Aang was much before that of Korra, so it makes sense that the villains were imperialists. Most of the wars in our past were simply power struggles, and with time they became for more civilized causes (i.e. equality for all).
i feel the same, the beat is played in a way that you can feel the chaos but in a way its controlled ! you can feel the calm and powerfull figure of zaheer when you listen to it ! just incredible, props to the team that made it
Nine years later and this song still gives me the mother of all goosebumps. The Red Lotus were the best villains in the entire franchise and I'll die on that hill.
You're not wrong. Zaheer alone would take out any of the villains, with Amon being the only one who could keep up due to his psychic bloodbending. But Zaheer is smart, and would find a way to counter it, and work his way through it.
I still remember the first time I saw Iroh and the rest of the White Lotus lead the attack on Ba Sing Se. The fluidity and coordination of the attack was breathtaking. The way they acted in unison during that brief, but unforgettable sequence of animation was just majestic. I experienced that same feeling every single time the Red Lotus came on screen. Azula, Hama, Ozai, Amon...all great villains in their own way...but the Red Lotus brought something different to the table. No matter what, it was the strength of the group that turned out to be the saving grace of Team Avatar. No single member could have accomplished so much on their own. The Red Lotus were such a great foil to Team Avatar because their strength flowed from the same source. They were a unit comprised of members from every nation and bending discipline who acted harmoniously with one another. Every last fight sequence they were involved with was absolutely mesmerizing. I've heard the complaint that this track was rather overused. In my opinion, the fact that so many fight sequences were accompanied by this piece just makes it all the more relevant and memorable. It was a major reason why the battle between the Red Lotus and the children of Aang and Katara was so hard for me to watch. This music captures all of those wonderful moments of the season so effortlessly and in such a short span of time.
Imagine 4 seasons of a built up zaheer, maybe make amon kuvira, unalok, and amon red lotus members korra deals with before ultimately dealing with zaheer
@@kysoneilers4892well Unalaq was a red lotus member but he ended up betraying them. I feel like if Amon was also part of the red lotus it wouldve made everything so much deeper, have him live through the seasons causing chaos. Adding more complex backstories to Unalaq and why he became a villain wouldve been fleshed him out and made him actually interesting.
"Let go of your earthly tether. Enter the Void. Empty, and become wind." Ghazan, Ming Hua, P'Li and Zaheer were, in my opinion, the best villains in the Avatar Universe. I could never really come to hate them. There were little moments throughout the season such as P'Li and Zaheer's relationship, the time when they were in a car and Bolin was making guesses about what Ghazan's childhood was like, and how Ghazan congratulated Bolin for learning how to lavabend that showed us that they weren't just killing machines like Ozai. I loved Azula as much as the next person, she's my second favorite character in A:tLA, she and Ozai cannot compare to this group because their motive is lacking. Ozai was an asshole just for the sake of being an asshole. "World domination" is a stale motive but Zaheer and his gang wanted chaos, they wanted to kill all world leaders. "Chaos is the natural order." Zaheer was crazy but he was smart, very wise, believed everything he was doing was right, had ideals and he wanted to see his goals accomplished, so much so he was willing to help Korra in season four. The Red Lotus were calm in the midst of the chaos and this track is so fitting for them. The Legend of Korra, in my eyes, is perfection.
Yes! Everything you said is exactly what makes the Red Lotus my favorite villain(s) from either series. Also worth noting, they were exceptional in combat, especially against benders of the same elements. Ming Hua and Ghazan, especially, turned anything that was thrown at them into a tool to use against their enemies. Ming Hua specifically is completely terrifying in combat and very intimidating with her unique style, and P'Li, though her blasts were somewhat less powerful than Combustion man, was far more adept at using her bending for unique and devious ways. Pretty much all season 3 was just epic and awesome, particularly the skirmish at Zoufu and at the Air Temple (Tenzin was/is the only character to successfully score a hit on Zaheer until the finale).
+Daniel Wells I completely agree with you! Yes, P'Li's explosions were less powerful, but some advantages she had were I feel like she got around a lot easier than Sparky Sparky Boom Man, and her shots seemed to be able to curve as well. With Ghazan there was a quote Bolin said when he was fighting him that was like "It's like I'm giving him ammo" which was true. One moment that happened when Ming Hua really stood out to me was when they were supposedly keeping the airbenders as leverage and when they entered the room it turned out she was just using water bending to keep the robes up. For a moment I wasn't even mad because it was SO cool :/ Another thing to think about is just how skilled of an air bender Zaheer was. He was a prodigy. He was an amazing bender after a few weeks. He wasn't up to Tenzin's level but it was really amazing how good he was after being trapped in a cell for 13 years :| Season three of LoK was just amazing in every way :D
the creators of both series learned pretty quickly that "villains"need relatable motives, thats why they added zuko and made azula the more prominent villain. i found season 3 to be the best of all avatar seasons, even though i loved amon as a villain in season one. he was just scary, theres no other way to put it. but even season 4 had a solid villain, the only season of korra i despise was season 2.
+firudu Yeah I don't think anyone really likes Season Two of LoK. Unavatu was a cool villain but he had no motive. He just wanted to be the dark avatar and cause 10,000 years of darkness, it was stupid. I'm glad they didn't make that mistake again in the third and fourth seasons. The only thing I really liked was meeting Avatar Wan and learning his story.
I dont dislike season 2. We just got a villain that seemed too close to Ozai by being flat, despite Unalaq not being completely flat. He was right about the spirits. We just grew past the Ozai level, which I think is why season 2 gets criticized when it actually is still pretty good. I mean if Unalaq gets criticized the entire series of the Last Airbender should be criticized since the main villain was the most one dimensional villain we ever got. LOK just gets more scrutinized since we expected better writing.
Laghima once wrote, Instinct is a lie, Told by a fearful body, Hoping To Be Wrong. It means that when you based your expectations only on what you see, you blind yourself to the possibilities of a new reality......
I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually like the villain(s) in this book...they seem intelligible and their purpose of tyranny does not root from pure evil
Well we still don't know much about them. Most villains at first don't seem like their intentions are pure evil. Amon for instance seemed like he had a legit reason to rebel against benders since they were oppressing non-benders but we later realized he was a water/blood bender and just wanted to be the leader/strongest bender in a world full of non-benders.
seriously, i dont know how nickelodeon can skip avatar. its such a great show, sure, book 2 was a little lame, but book 3 had very cool villains. and book 4 builds on a somehow more tough look, i really like what i saw yesterday.
I feel like the Red Lotus gets unjustly underrated in TLA/LOK discussions. They were so crazy powerful that Aang made the White Lotus keep Korra on lockdown until they thought she was ready. Zaheer is my favorite character in either series. True believers are a scary thing.
Not only that but their methods were beyond vicious. Their bending was beyond that of a master level, were willing to kill (the Earth Queen being their first victim) and their fighting was borderline brutal. The final fight against Zaheer and Korra was in my opinion the most savage not only because Korra was slowly being poisoned but Zaheer's mastery of airbending and flight made him a lethal foe. Not even Ozai was this brutal or powerful and he had a comet to enhance his strength; Zaheer had nothing but skill
Sorry, you said Aang made the White Lotus keep Korra on lockdown until they thought she was ready. Don't you mean Tenzin, Korra's dad and maybe Zuko? Didn't they not know about the group until they first tried to kidnap Korra when she was a child?
Zaheer was definitely an enlightened guy. He was not particularly attached to anything after Pli's death. He even don't hold any grudge against Korra and helps her later.
He definitely was NOT enlightened. Enlightened beings do not harm other living beings…. But Zaheer straight-up killed the Earth Queen and sent the Truth Seer to eternal damnation. He’s the opposite of enlightened
@@TheAmazingHoho576 huh? U can never judge enlightened beings. They are not bound by ur conditioned morals. They are not bound by rules. They are truly free. Zaheer got enlightened after pli's death. He remembered the sutra of guru laghima and then he applied it on himself, and this time he fully experienced it as Pli, his final earthly attachment was no more.. And about enlightened beings, i have seen and heard of many types. The thing about them is that even after enlightenment, they follow their usual lives normally, difference is just in their mind that now they wouldnt care about results.
@@TheAmazingHoho576 and dont know where ur logic even is. He got enlightened after pli's death and that was after killing earth queen. And btw, earth queen deserved it lol.
@Madara Uchiha I don’t disagree with anything you said, except for your assertion that he was enlightened. He wasn’t. Being able to be unattached from the world and truly being enlightened are two different things. For example, the Buddha. Siddhartha achieved enlightenment. And what did he teach? To “radiate boundless love to all living beings without restraint”. THAT is true enlightenment…. Spiritual advancement is the true indicator of if someone is enlightened or not. The fact Zaheer mercilessly killed the queen and tortured Korra shows he wasn’t even close to being enlightened……
I personally loved that each one of the villians in each book of korra is actually the hero of their story. The only thing that made them villians was the fact that they took things to extremes instead of looking at how their actions would effect others around them. "Does the means justify the ends" is a quote that comes to mind when i think of all the villians in LOK
don't compare the two... Zaheer has a coherent ideology and is actually intelligent and insightful as well as cunning and vicious. Thanos is just a run of the mill narcissist who believes in one of the most stupid ideologies ever, malthusianism, which has no basis in reality, instead it's based on eugenics and racism. There is more than enough resources in the world already, they are just kept from the people who need them by capitalists and monarchs. Thanos was a power hungry asshole who could talk slow and seem impressive. Zaheer was an actual intelligent person totally committed to his ideology.
Red Lotus are my fav villains from TLOK!! "Individually they can take down any bender, put them all together they can take down whole world" -Lord Zuko
This music....WHAT IS IT CALLED??? Everytime it comes on during a fight scene or an intense scene just omg. Shut up and take my money already I want it now. Someone please
The Red Louts was hands down the best villains in The last airbender and Korra combined. And I’m just going off the way they fight. When they fight in unison they are unstoppable. P’li was their main source of firepower. And combustion has a tiny window of opportunity where it can be taken out or neutralized. Zaheer was their second source of firepower. With his sturdy airbending he could keep the battle going if P’li were to go down. Then there is Ghazan. He uses his lava to create distance. His earth is mainly used for brute force, but his lava if for making distance. He doesn’t expect his lava to connect but his opponents can’t walk in la a so he can use it to get his enemies off of him. Then there is Ming Hua. She can do both offense and defense and her water arms give her more dexterity. She is the wild card. If needed she can use her octopus form to try and overpower the enemy if the team is lacking. But let’s talk about their role when fighting as one. P’li and Zaheer are for long distance and short distance attack respectively. Ghazan deals with creating distance for P’li and dealing with those who get close but aren’t close enough for Zaheer to deal with and Ming Hua is meant to cover P’li flanks so that window of opportunity is now closed and she’s a last resort too. Together they make the most dynamic group ever
Zaheer saved the show for me. I hated book 2 and didn't even finish watching it. Than maybe a year later a friend kept saying: ''You have to watch book 3 its so good''. He was right I loved book 3 and in my opinion its the best season of the show. Zaheer deserves most of the credit because he was such an awesome villain.
RickeGnool Yeah most fans like book 2 the least and I do too. I agree with Zaheer being such an awesome villain him and his team had such great fight scenes and is part of the reason why book 3 is my favourite book. Have you seen book 4 it's really good too.
MattTheHuman Yeah I have seen it and its pretty good, but I have some problems with it. I don't really like Kuvira as a villain and I think the giant mecha suit was dumb. Loved the the final scene though.
“ YOU THINK FREEDOM is something that you can give or take on a whim. BUT TO YOUR PEOPLE. Freedom Is Just As Essential As AIR. And Without It.There Is No Life. There Is Only DARKNESS.
Ngl Zaheer had me so much convinced with his ideology that I started to get scared by my own train of thoughts that followed. He is wise, charming and with so much depth.
I'm probably gonna get hate for this, but I actually like LOK more than ATLA. They're both amazing shows, but LOK is less for kids and the plot twists are really cool! There are no filler episodes and I like Korra's badass attitude. I got so sad when I learned Aang and Sokka were dead in LOK, and I was kind of uncertain about how modern LOK was. But i learned to accept the change because honestly it's such a good show and I really enjoyed it
This music is simply phenomenal... Really encapsulates the viciousness of the Red Lotus. I can just picture the fight with Tenzin and the attempt to free P'Li every time I hear this. Simply amazing and inspiring... In a weird yet awesome way.
Instinct is a lie told by a fearful body hoping to be wrong . It means when you base your expectations only on what you see ... You blind yourself to the possibilities .. of a new .. reality ... "
This ost has such a eerie and scary vibe to it, and it fits perfect. The Red Lotus were a group that every character from both franchises feared the most. The Gaang locked Korra up until she was almost an adult because of them. When Zuko is told that Zaheer is an air bender you can tell the fear he has of them. This theme captures that fear perfectly
Shahrul Kurt Adam I really do want Tenzin to have survived. I don't normally argue with character deaths, but really, Tenzin dying is not the problem. Jenora, Ikki, and Milo losing a loving father IS the problem.
i think this is honestly the most epic piece of music from legend of korra! that's just my opinion but also the villains are pretty awesome in this book!! i actually like them a lot!!

@@photonalchemist6574 Season 3 was by far the best season!
the music screams calm controlled chaos... if such a thing makes sense. this music fits the red lotus better than every other character theme ever.
+Stuntman Pat. OTC makes sense to me
i feel the same, the beat is played in a way that you can feel the chaos but in a way its controlled ! you can feel the calm and powerfull figure of zaheer when you listen to it ! just incredible, props to the team that made it
Nine years later and this song still gives me the mother of all goosebumps.
What's better than a literal dark avatar
@@neonraindrop8357Unalaq was a terribly one-note villain with zero depth. His children had more of an arc than he did.
Agreed completely. Beautifully put, well done!
Well said
Avatar Wan Wan could say he perfectly displayed the Aangst of Korra.
Ur right and the symbol of them is badass I'm about to get a tattoo of it
Absolutely on the money here. Zaheer basically put together a Dark Team Avatar with 3 of the greatest benders in the entire world.
Zaheer should have been the main villain for all of Korra, dude was amazing.
That drop gets me every single time

Red lotus's theme, hands down, is one of the most badass soundtracks out there.
i really want them to make a prequel to korra focused on the red lotus
1:29 I've waited 13 years to feel this warm.
"Let go of your earthly tether.
Enter the Void.
Empty, and become wind."
Ghazan, Ming Hua, P'Li and Zaheer were, in my opinion, the best villains in the Avatar Universe.

Instinct is a lie, Told by a fearful body, Hoping To Be Wrong.
It means that when you based your expectations only on what you see, you blind yourself to the possibilities of a new reality......

Shikazu Kazimir 10 hours
Quentin Bolt 1000+*
I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually like the villain(s) in this book...they seem intelligible and their purpose of tyranny does not root from pure evil
Well we still don't know much about them. Most villains at first don't seem like their intentions are pure evil. Amon for instance seemed like he had a legit reason to rebel against benders since they were oppressing non-benders but we later realized he was a water/blood bender and just wanted to be the leader/strongest bender in a world full of non-benders.
ATrainGame he never wanted to be the strongest bender he wanted to create a world of non benders, but he used a bending to take it away.
How ironic huh?
Me too. I love how they're the "special" benders who can show more potential of what benders can do. I also love their theme music.
Same they look really cool. Especially the earth bender that made a magma shrunken
The fights in Book 3 were so intense that I didn't even pay attention to how incredible the music was.
Gotta love the Red Lotus :P

I feel like the Red Lotus gets unjustly underrated in TLA/LOK discussions. They were so crazy powerful that Aang made the White Lotus keep Korra on lockdown until they thought she was ready. Zaheer is my favorite character in either series. True believers are a scary thing.
Jude Miller underrated? have u seen LOK fan discussions? people LOVE zaheer and his partners...
Jude Miller Yeah The red lotus are the FUCKING best villains in the avatar series in my honest opinion. Next to Azula and Kuvira.
Most people think Season 3 was the best of Korra.
Zaheer and his team, make this song give me chills.
Ah yes, the "get rekt" theme that plays when Zaheeris educating fools and owning people.
"lol, let go urthly tether and get shrekt scrub."

This theme is ominous, yet epic with the beats, much lIku Zaheer himself.

0:57 drums are epic
Zaheer is the Thanos of the Avatarverse: wise, bald, scary, fanatical, and buff
Agreed.
Not really fanatical.
He just accepted his defeat and even helped korra later.
He does kinda give off a Thanos like vibe to be honest.
don't compare the two...
Inevitable you might say.
This played at the epic scene where ghazan was breaking the wall of ba sing sa
I had shivers when I first seen that.

I'm calling it "The Special Benders" ^^
Check out u320017's channel for Red Lotus themes, he cuts them right out of the episodes. Love the Red Lotus's melody, very creepy yet badass.
