He is the best villain in the legend of Korra. He's absolutely terrifying and enlightening at the same time.
This scene was inspired
I'd rank Zaheer as the best antagonist in the entire Avatar franchise honestly
@@flz_5848Easily
Ozai might be more powerful, but power is nothing in comparison with pure raw talent, enlightenment and literally traumatizing one of the strongest Avatars ever for years of her life
Also proceeding to help her to win against said trauma as a bonus just because
Being voiced by Henry Rollins can do that to a character :D
Azula is right there as well, in my opinion, as the other best antagonist in the Avatar franchise.
Ironically, despite being locked up, Zaheer is probably the most free person in the world of Avatar.
him and Iroh
Let go of your earthly possessions and you will soar through the heavens
What about guru Pathik?
@@kridens6536He was too deep in
@@kridens6536 he is pretty dead at this point but yepp he was also free and if he would have been an airbender he also could achieve flight.
"I learned to fly, now I'm bound in chains. You have all the power in the world and the freedom to use it, yet you hold yourself back."
This quote hits me every time.
It's Down not back
Yeah might makes right. Right?
Zaheer is such an interesting character. I like this scene, because you get a sense that he has gained some insight and realized that what he did only made things worse by clearing the way for another, more dangerous tyrant.
He had some decent motivations as a villain. Amon, Tuvalock, and Quvira all just wanted power.
@@cheesus9512 I don't think amon just want a power, deeply he have a genuine heart that wanted everyone to be equal as in his childhood he protect his lil brother from his abusive father that don't threat them equally
3:30 I love how Zaheer shows genuine remorse for the consequences of his actions.
it wasn't his actions that did this, its the people who rallied behind a corrupt dictator that did this, and those naive enough to think she was restoring order to the earth kingdom
Because Korra called him out on it
Yeah he talked about order and chaos and he was the cause of that dictator. What crude irony
He hates himself for the pain he caused and the lives he destroyed by not thinking about the consequences and permanent damage that will forever have an impact on everyone.
@joshuahecht6866 He thought he was doing the right thing, but it resulted in a dictatorship, something he was fundamentally ideologically opposed to
please dont turn off comments. this is a safe place for avatar fans
Definitely accept. But I don't think they'll not turn off comments forever :/
Its a liminal space for adults and kids, so of course they turn the comments off.
If they do we can always chat in the spirit comment section:)
We’re only safe in the ATLA videos. But LOK? Not so much
@@atlerhidolf the opposite
I just love dis huge contrast with Aang. Aang's problem is that he's TOO spiritually attached that Yangchen had to tell him he needs to let go of his spiritual needs to restore balance. Meanwhile, Korra's entire theme is about reconnecting with her spiritual self. Beautiful & poetic writing
ikfr, people seems so hard to understand and still comparing them two, meanwhile they both has their own problem and story to be tell, and that's unique, they are different that make sense, every avatar has their own problematic agenda
@@rezadroidjr Very true. I would say that Aang and Korra's character arcs are diametrically opposed. Aang's beginning was Korra's endpoint, and Korra's beginning was Aang's endpoint.
Zaheer did more for Korra in 5 minutes than anyone did in 3 seasons
It certainly helps when the solution was the problem
Bro really said, yeah i almost killed You and left you paralized, get over it
Morally speaking, it wasn’t his place to say but Korra sought him for guidance. Him being the same man who caused her trauma and presently incites it; he had to tell her to get over it because it’s what she needed to do. As the Avatar, Korra can’t wait to feel better about something the way that others can.
@@bahrahfahofficial1158I'd argue that it is exactly Zaheer's place to say. The person who caused U misery telling U that he in fact has absolutely no power over u & that U are in control is exactly what Korra needs
As the Avatar Korra has to understand the world is bigger than her problems unfortunately.
Zaheer almost killed her, Aang had his entire race genocided. If Aang dwelt on the lose of his people more would have suffered, the same with Korra being depressed and scared.
She knew what being the avatar entailed. So yes Korra, get over it.
@@johnnynunez1843 I think what helped Aang was being an air nomad. He had the wisdom of an old sage in a child's body, so he made far less mistakes than Korra. Society had made some the largest changes their world had ever seen during her generation (some of which she was directly involved), the like that hasn't been seen in thousands of years. And she had to manage that little to no guidance from her predecessors.
@@psython2160it also helped that after 100 years Aang still has people that cares for him outside of just being the Avatar. Sentiment could also apply to Korra
Zaheer doesn't really bother being imprison because he can just VR in the spirit world.
I do wish he has a redemption arc like becoming an air bender teacher.
That's kinda cool
Realistically he would never be an air bending teacher, but I can see him as a spiritual mentor
@@ReinAfterDark yeah more like spiritual guro for the air nomads.
No every living villian needs a redemption arc.
When Korra talked to him about Kuvira you can see the pain in his face, he almost killed a teenager for nothing. And if he's in contact with the spirit world, he must have known at the end of S4 that Korra did his mission of tearing down barriers, uniting spirit and republic city and live in chaos, but NOT AT THE COST OF SACRIFICING A HUMAN LIFE unlike him.
"Accept what happened to you, don't fear what might have been" the key is accepting there exists evil like that douche Zaheer but he is no longer in control and plus you can do a better job than him, you go Korra ❤.
She should go back and take his bending away, on top of his life sentence in prison, render him back to the state where he was in. He could have just escaped and lived his life. Harmonic convergence actually gave him a second chance at life and I guess all those years in prison taught him nothing.
@@janjan55555 but without him who would teach someone how to fly🙏
Zaheer was wrong, but he acknowledged that and is growing as a person. Korra was wrong MANY times, and it often takes her and many others to pay the price for her being wrong that finally gets through to her. Her and Zaheer are actually quite similar.
Taking someone's bending away requires greater willpower than the one you're taking from. At this point, Korra would be completely overwhelmed by Zaheer's resolve.
@@janjan55555 What makes you think Zaheer would be any less dangerous without his bending?
Let's not forget that Zaheer was already locked up in an insanely secure prison guarded by the White Lotus before he ever got his airbending.
He's a masterfully skilled fighter, with or without airbending.
I always liked how Korra's best teachers were her greatest enemies. Amon (involuntarily) taught Korra the importance of accepting fear and even helped her awaken her Airbending. Unalaq taught Korra more about the Spiritual side of bending and (unintentionally) enabled her to strengthen her bond with Raava. Zaheer helped over the mental barrier that prevented her from entering into the Spirit World.
All in all, Korra's enemies turned out to be better mentors than Tenzin was.
You forgot to add Kuvira. She helped Korra understand the purpose of going through all of the things she did.
Funnily enough, Korra was a better mentor to Tenzin than Aang was while he was alive. She gives him new insights every season!
As in life...
Tenzin still offered some wisdom, which DID work
It reminds me of Carl Jung's archetype "The Shadow", where we can find lost potential and the best versions of ourselves in the darkness of others and ourselves.
Man zaheer is one of character that have best development, he got enlightment both ideologically & air bending even spiritual ability better and better all by himself
I don’t think that Zaheer changed his opinions, and as he said, for that moment, when Kuvira led a dictatorship and conquered the Earth Kingdom, Zaheer’s and Korra’s interests were aligned. So he understood the importance of helping Korra. But he’s still an anarchist.
The fact that you can't even properly put Zaheer in prison bro definitely just stays in the spirit world being a menace LOL
3:35
That genuine look of "unforseen consequences", it happens to all radicals it seems, even if they achieve their immediate goals, the end goal is ultimately impossible.
Either Zaheer can’t grow a mustache or a guard shaves him on the daily.

Apart of me wouldve loved to see Zaheer help Korra take down Kuvira, that would’ve been so cool to see him flying next to the other airbenders with their wing suits.
You think your power has limits, I say it's limitless.
People can say what they want about LoK, but Korra is an amazing main character and the villains in the show are very complex and interesting.
Tbh what people really hate is not Korra (the character) herself, but rather the writers throwing away her ability to connect with past avatars. That single change is what built the entire Avatar lore & what makes Avatar so great. If they just didn't touch that it'd easily put LOK up there
@@msc2479 Personally I think that's an easy fix. It was major trouble for Korra as a character, but it is never stated that the Avatar line is erased forever. You can just say that Korras connection was severed specifically, and the next Avatar just has it again.
Korra has great villains and support characters. She, on the other hand is the worst.
@@Mediadosthats what I always thought , that only korra has her connection sevvered from the past lives , and I think that the next avatar is going to be able to connect with the past lives , korra included . BTW : personally , korra loosing her connection with the past avatars inproved her character in my opinion. Since the other avatars when they needed guiddance , they could talk with the past lives and try and fond a solution , but her not having them means that She has to seach and find the answers herself . One of the things that I love the most about this series îs korra wondering through the world trying to find a solution for her trauma . That I really love because it was for the first time She was really on her own , no friends , teachers , or parents . And her learning that She îs able to make a difference in a world that doesn't need the avatar no more , without her past live îs just the cherry in top

Zaheer is so underrated
I love that ravva is such a powerful spirit that she can move quickly in the spirit world
It was actually shown that Vaatu could do that too, moving Unalaq nearer the portal. I'm watching the series for the first time right now and this move was kinda cheeky, but they foreshadowed it, so I appreciate it
Of course she is. She is the spirit of light and peace order in that world.
For Bryan and Michael: Thank you for creating my favorite character... Zaheer deserves more love, tell us how the Red Lotus kidnapped Korra.
This my favorite character in kora too!!!
6:43 one of the proudest moment in tlok
“I have no control!”
Exactly, Korra. Exactly.
I think this was the moment Zaheer began his own transformation. He realized what he did.
I dont think so, really. He never backtracked his ideology once, he just said their goals aligned
Didn’t say he switched ideology, but he did realize that how he went about things was unwise.
Zaheer was always my favourite villain. I’m always thinking he’s smart & he’s pretty much often correct. His intelligence is both admirable & scary.
I’m also attracted 2 him.
Considering that he was a non bender except for like a few weeks he could’ve been the best airbender since Lahima if he was born a airbender.
A hammer is meant for building and Zaheer used it as a weapon. By the time he fully realized what he did, it was already too late. What a great antagonist to have come from LoK
Zaheer the best antagonist of Korra
Growth isn't about forgetting, it's about accepting.
Korra’s post timeskip appearance is her best appearance.
They should really give zaheer his airbending master tattoos
He's not an airmonk~ he cant receive the tattoos.
He doesn’t follow the mainstream airbending religion/philosophy.

@@Damodred_Heiress no, he isn't. It honestly isn't a fase. He is just very different and misunderstood.
I really wish they took more time in this episode to go over Korra's process of getting over her trauma. Like maybe at least 5 min instead of 1 scene. Overcoming a struggle like that just doesn't happen that quickly
Bruh it was 3 years of struggling that’s they had time skip of it

Zaheer, probably my favorite Villain in Avatar 2nd to Azula.
Recovering from PTSD is possible. ❤️
Korra came to Zaheer to try and prove to herself that he had no power over her, but what she really needed was to accept the opposite. Zaheer did have some power over her, and reconciling that made her stronger. No one is ever in complete control of anything, including themselves. Accepting that allows allows you to fully realize your limits, and how to work effectively within them.

Absolutely a beautiful scene
Hands down to my man Zaheer, he's the best TLOK villain ever
I never forget Avatar
You think your mind /spirit has limits
I say it is limitless
Zaheer wanted to destroy the most corrupted leader & ironically, he did succeed but made a new/more dangerous dictator (He didn’t think this through now did he?)
That is the problem with anarchists. They never account for what comes after and how necessary having some form of order becomes when the community grows too big.
Welp he probably didn't count on being captured. If Zaheer had been there when Kuvira was creating her army he definitely would've stopped her.
He s just one man.
One man can be enough to topple an autocrat, but you need a whole population to stop a new one.
The earth kingdom population are the one letting kuvira come to power, not zaheer s fault.
He gave them a chance at freedom. Nothing more, nothing less.
Zaheer would've acted against kuvira one way or another
At one point, Zaheer was Korra's greatest Enemy. Then, he became one of Korra's greatest teachers.
This is exactly the proof why korra's Avatar state was powerful and stronger because of her strong and direct conection to the Avatar spirit 'Raava'. Wan and korra are the only Avatar who's Clearly had this direct connection to their Avatar Spirit despite them having no pastlives to consult. They're the most spiritual Avatar ever hence they're visibly aware of their well being 'Origin' that they're part spirit. Additionally korra was the First Avatar to bend in the spirit wolrd without her physical body and this bending was considered to be the most powerful and dangerous as well cuase it could potentially destroy the bender who performed the skills 'Energy bending'. Raava instruc korra such an unthinkable ability that everyone thinks impossible 'bending in the spirit wolrd without a physical body'.
I agree. Ppl only focus on the fact that Koraa doesn't get the knowledge and skills of the past avatars. However, they overlook the fact that Korra has a stronger connection with a MUCH more powerful version of Raava. The Raava within Korra, post Harmonic Convergence, is stronger than the Raava within EVERY Avatar before Korra.
@@maviebabyexactly, people are just mindless and can't entirely cope the Facts that Korra had the strongest Avatar state ever in history.
? no
Even though they weren’t her masters toph and zaheer were Korra’s best teachers
It's because they told Korra what she needed to hear without anything to gain
3:27 - 3:46 Zaheer kinda learns the error of his ways. Sort of 🤔🤔
I agree I also think Amon had great booking his arch everything made him formidable and mysterious his front the ability to take bending the equalist my personal fave
I like how Korra is meditating with her fist together it shows how some of a ants tendencies have traveled with korra which is a nice touch. The show isn’t bad people be hating Lowkey
henry rollins being zaheers voice is wild to me
Korra was the only person who ever thought she was unstoppable. Everyone else watched her get beat up for 4 straight Seasons, they knew better.
I think 🤔 you don't really on the concept, this was master class
Korra was overconfident
she is unstoppable. she was just nerfed for some fights bc she was too op. she never had a proper 1v1 with any of the red lotus bc she would beat them all easily.
Yeah her power level REALLY fluctuates. On one scene, she's going even against random enemies. Next scene she has this awesome 1v1 match with Kuvira inside the mecha.
Yeah she's fine against regular bender. But she struggles hard against actual masters.
This is one big reason, why Zaheer is my one favorite character. This scene is so powerfull!
Everyone talking about zaheer, but can we talk about Korra and Ravaa, like Korra missed Ravaa so much, and Ravaa probably felt the same

It's not like it is easy to energybend. Zaheer reached enlightenment, so I'd argue that his spirit is unbendable. If Korra made an attempt to take away his bending, it would most definitely backfire for her.

How can a person with killing intensions achieve enlightenment and learn flying???
Because he thought what he was doing would result in a better world: he’s the embodiment of the saying “The ends justify the means”.
