The Aftermath | War Thunder Issues, Callout Videos and My Response

- There's an old saying, that "nothing draws a crowd like a crowd", that there is no such thing as bad publicity, because controversy and heated disagreements can't help but draw people in, and in the end the people on the receiving end, can only benefit. Whether or not this is true, I found myself in a position after uploading our last video, that somebody had made a response, in which they called me a liar and a horrible person. I had said that not only did I not want my community to blindly turn this into just another episode of internet drama, but that I MYSELF would not respond either. Unfortunately though, I believe I have to.
The callout video uploaded by the channel SeekerHead, supposedly exposing me for telling nothing but lies the entire video, was FULL of lies itself, nonsensical contradictions, "proof" that actually proved nothing, and personal attacks in an attempt to be funny and "savage" enough that nobody would look too deeply into the points being made. He claimed to be exposing issues he then privately admits to not caring about, and claims to stick up for other content creators despite blanket insulting them IN said video and privately, without having even bothered to reach out to them to see if they actually felt that way in the first place, or wanted to be "stuck up for" (I did reach out... none of them felt that way). I was then flooded with hate raids and mass dislikes on not just the last video, but previous videos as well, along with personal attacks on Discord and other social media, and even attempts at doxxing.
Unfortunately I could not simply say "no, that video was full of lies and mine was in fact not", since at this point according to many people, the burden of proof was on me, and to not respond at all was just "wussing out" or "coping" as the kids say...
So here we are, with an hour and a half worth of response and clarifications. I hope this clears things up... and I hope SeekerHead enjoys!

Honestly, when you say your parents adress getting doxxed and you are reciving death threats, it's time to collect the evidence, contact a lawyer and through judicial means get the real names and contact info of these criminals to blind side them with the full weight of the law.
getting IP adresses of people that do that is pretty easy, if they are in the same country at least

As a cinematic maker myself, thank you for speaking up about the automatic cockpit crap. I know for some it's something "not important".
Especially in replays, the cockpit bugs out and remains like 2-5 degrees open. In my latest cinematic "What A Wonderful World" it happened to the harrier scenes, I had to hide it by making sure the camera angle is obscure enough to not show and hide the issue.
But yeah, I didn't submit a bug report about the cockpit. The cockpit issue has been happening for I don't know how long now. Because the last time I submitted a bug report on something else, I was greeted with these lines "The Replay function is not designed to do what you are doing with it." At that time, I was really a small channel, barely even at a 100 subs. The issue I was reporting was about the audio bug.
But anyway, huge respect Koala! always take care!

It sucks that starting drama is "mainstream" and I hope all parties can just move on. There is no point, no end goal, no winner in online junk like what happened. I honestly was mixed from both your older video and seeks video, this helped clear up and I trust you more since you have not only played more vehicles in different areas than seeker, but you have also been around longer than him, and the fact he didn’t show the conversations that you were”rude” also had a major point, and that he was rude to your and your fan base. Damn this wasn't what I was expecting, It's really disappointing that there's this kind of drama going on man. I'm sorry you have to deal with this now, and sadly it's impossible to reason with people like that since they are acting on emotion and it's impossible to reason logically when the aggressor is emotionally attacking you.

Hey Joshua, thanks for that footnote at the end, I was initially a bit worried after seeing seek's video after it got popular (because he was looking for clout lol) but after seeing this video, and after you summarize all of his BS and call it out for being just that at the end, thank you. If it reassures you somewhat, I have come away from this entire storm with even more respect for you, I am sure many think the same. I hope you enjoyed the birthday celebration.

I don't think anybody's perfect, including you and me, but nobody should have to deal with the shit that seeker threw at you. It's mean-spirited content bait from somebody who wants to start arguments and feel superior. It's not gonna go anywhere useful. I don't even have a particularly high or positive opinion of you, (things have kinda balanced out to somewhere close to neutral, not that anyone does or should care what my random ass thinks) but I'm very much annoyed on your behalf that you have to sort this out. Happy Birthday Koala! Hope you are doing well! Great video breaking down the issues. This is a great example of people who have a platform to talk on that influence an audience that are not fully aware of the situation or manipulate them for their own gain. They really shouldn't be on a platform and have this power, maybe have something called responsibility before attaining some power. This is a sad and real problem that keeps on increasing nowadays, causing issues for too many people who really do not need it. Children with power will abuse it, and make it an issue for everyone. Hopefully this annoyance gets resolved quickly so people can go about their lives.

Admittedly, I still haven't even watched the one that started this all, having put it off for so long that I can't seem to bring myself to do so anymore. But, you've provided more than enough context in this video to give me a good idea of what it was about. Frankly, I find myself rather at awe at how much this video has resonated with me and how many parallels I've found between your experience with publicity and my unfortunate experiences in some other parts of the internet. I usually try to avoid internet "drama", but I would like to say a couple of things here:
1) It's really uncool (pretty sure the words I actually want to use here aren't able to be posted) that your parents address got doxxed and you are receiving death threats. I highly recommend going to the police etc about that; and
2) I totally took your previous video as *your* reasoning for leaving the CC program, and nothing beyond that. People have their own "lines that can't be crossed" and reasons why even if those lines might get crossed, they actually aren't in the position to leave the CC program themselves.
I'm really sorry that you had to deal with this, and I hope you had a great birthday anyway! 🍻

In all seriousness good response though. Initially I sided with you then saw seeks video and while I didn’t completely agree with him I wouldn’t say I was on your side anymore. After this response though and the thorough annihilation of his points, you got me back. Probably doesn’t mean much but I’m just trying to find a way to say good job.
Ill be honest, Seek’s video convinced me to “switch sides” but now seeing all these things that were left out (e.g Discord messages) changed my mind yet again, basically all he did was lie or be disingenuous and misleading.
I watched one of his streams and thought he was quite an arrogant person, something you don’t really see on videos, since then Ive been questioning his authenticity (as a good person), unfortunately I only found out this video came out yesterday.
What a rollercoaster. Haven't watched your videos in a while just cause of life, but come back to this. Really sad about 2and900, but hilarious with the Seeker drama. Some people are just hypocrits and sometimes just want the attention. You do what you gotta do and sometimes it's never enough to satisfy them in anywhere, whether you are wrong or right. Hey Koala, I might be a bit off-topic about this video but I would like to know how much did it cost you to plan the visit to the UK and the museums (especially the military ones), including travel and accomodation prices. I wish to visit some of them personally in the future but I want to know how much budget it takes and if it's viable for me or should I prioritize other stuff.
Also: 26 years old? Now I feel old after I've passed the 3 decades mark....
Flights from Australia were ~$2,000 AUD pp, plus I saved myself $600 for travel and expenses while there. Luckily I didn’t have to pay for any accomodation since I was staying with relatives the whole time, and that JUST covered it.

Yeah I would loved to have gone "nah screw it", but I had to put out SOMETHING or else lose all credibility, and the way Seek phrased his nonsense meant I NEEDED a medium where I could not just refute his claims, but actually disprove them. That meant a stupidly long "response video" unfortunately, all for two or three remotely valid points Seek actually made! XD

@@jonathanallen3688 Yeah I'm definitely not the best at anticipating how people will understand the things I say. Usually they make perfect sense to me and then a bunch of people completely misunderstand and, I struggle with that, that's just what autism does to ya!
I do hope to get much better at that moving forward, in the meantime putting out "clarifications" like I got the chance to do for several points here is... an okay solution. I did the same for my video on WT's repair costs, where a bunch of people thought I was defending Gaijin, etcetera.

What are the names of the museums shown in the background because I would really like to visit them because they look cool af?
Most of it's from the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, but I also showed the Midland Air Museum outside Coventry, the National Army Museum in London, and some from the Tank Museum at Bovington. Did go to the IWM in London as well but didn't record any video footage there worth using, and I didn't include a bunch of footage I got at the Portsmouth naval dockyards.
I did WANT to go to the Avro heritage museum and the Fleet Air Arm museum, but didn't get the time. That'll be on the list for next time

Seek sounds like a textbook narcissist. Just remember, narcissists try to disown their own insecurities by projecting them onto others with demeaning insults. So, Seek is very afraid of being inadequate and thrives off of attention he gets from pushing people's buttons. He excuses when Gaijin actively heavily censors people who bring up points that they don't like, even if it was done with the highest form of professionalism, but will bash Koala for getting a little heated when the same shit keeps happening again and again and again, despite Gaijin's claims of getting fixed.
You can't bend over backwards to defend a company this much, while still disliking them. Cause Gaijin isn't the good guy in this scenario, this isn't a faultless issue. This is just Seeker perceiving Koala's behaviour as the larger slight, and thus is just trying to be overtly courteous to the point where he has seemingly forgotten any horrible moderating that Gaijin has done IE: rampant homophobia, the banning of the trans roundel modder, etc.

British Rapier system. Optically guided, pretty small but EXTREMELY accurate and manoeuvrable missiles, really annoyed Gaijin haven’t added it to War Thunder yet

Wow, I'm at a loss for words.
After seeing that video I was legitimately wondering about your credibility, but now I see it was essentially nothing more than a salty zoomer having a conniption fit and trying to drag your name through the mud. And honestly, looking back on the video you made the points definitely resonate with my understanding of War Thunder in its current state.
Between this and the incident where coneofarc tried calling out lazerpig, I'm starting to realize that War Thunder players are a very "confidently incorrect" type. Guess that means I should be careful about what I say and do in the future lol. Don't want to look like I'm tripping on acid bananas like an absolute looney now would I? ; )

The 1898 Riley replica (well spotted by the way! Not a lot of people know what it is) is owned by the Riley Archive Heritage Trust, at this point still seperate from the transport museum. It was built by my grandfather actually, the idea is to also build a full replica of the engine too, and then perhaps it’ll go to the museum itself.
Also showed Duxford, Midlands, the National Army museum in Chelsea where the Rapier system was, and a little of Bovington. Did a couple others including IWM London, the Arboretum north of Birmingham, Corfe castle, and the historic dockyards in Portsmouth

Definitely sounds like you had a really busy, but fun holiday tapping up all those museums! Bovington is top of the list for me to still visit. Unfortunately when we were down there on holiday, our friends had their 2 year old with them and I lost the vote to Monkeyworld next door. Did get to drive past and see the Fv4005 though!🤣
If I remember correctly, Jingles' content partnership censorship thingy is not by war thunder but by war gaming. It was WOWS who ended some of the ccs' contracts because they said something "bad" about the game.
Hey Koala, happy birthday! Unfortunately I've also had the experience of dealing with drama in the UA-cam space. Albeit 2 years ago on a much larger channel in a different niche. I've watched your content for several years now and as a game developer myself I find what many companies are doing, including Gaijin to be very silly business decisions and also bad game design. There are also some people out there seeking drama. I've watched the seek video before you made this response.
War Thunder could be an amazing game but everytime I play it I just end up disliking the gameplay although this may be due to personal tastes.
I usually don't comment on videos I don't even use any social media and have a discord but don't use it. However this video did strike a cord with me. I know you've been through a lot. I remember from the original video you had gotten a slew of bad luck for months. Including food poisoning which I hope I never have to experience.
I did watch the whole video and I do agree that reputation is something that can go away in an instant. Unfortunately you may have lost some trust from some people who you may never get back. I'm not sure if you will see this comment but hopefully you don't mind a wall of text haha.
By the way I'm curious to know what you would want if someone like myself were to make I guess a game similar to War Thunder. Feedback is very important and it seems like Gaijin doesn't understand that. I've been tempted to do it especially lately with the whole economy fiasco. That being said I'll have to think about it and I'm very busy with other things at the moment. Anyway, what content do you plan on making now? I apologize if I've been out of the loop.

Q: how do you feel about the SU-39 being added to the game along with the SU-25T.
I can't say it surprises me, and honestly I don't think it's much of a problem. The missiles are still limited to 10km max range, meaning Mavericks from the F-16 and Harrier GR.7 still FAR out range them, and top tier has bigger problems than another Su-25... hey at least it'll be easy to grind out my Rolands and ADATS now with all the idiots spamming out the Su-39! XD
I also think you'd have to be a sucker to spend $70 on a single War Thunder vehicle, ESPECIALLY one that'll only really be much good in ground RB (making it not great for grinding the Russian air tree).
The players managed to actually organise a boycott of the game to force Gaijin to the negotiating table and help get things in game fixed... anybody who buys the Su-39 is only harming that...

Late comment :D though that Seek dude wasn't overblowing anything btw... now this is going to be rich though I haven't got them on tab.... if you go back the time frame of this whole "drama" you'll find several off the more prominent creators all speaking vaguely about a certain someone constantly drumming up shit and not providing feedback in the way they're supposed to aka being hostile.... does line up with that Seek persons vid on what they had to say pretty closely, either way I'm not to bothered by this stuff as why should I be, only thing I don't like is people being shifty with wording or out right lies... again the timing of over creators vids or off comments in vids around this timeframe do support what SeekerHead says way more than this vid above.
End of the day we all just want content that is fun to watch... this time around SeekerHead is more than likely stating what actually happened in part with other creators at that time... this vid was a cope though again... who truly knows past the people in said channels and what they're willing to show or frame a vid as.
I'm still watching the video but one thing that really turned me off from watching Seek's content is that in the comments of one of his video's, he was having a back-and-forth with a commenter about either a strategy or something else related to War Thunder and Seek basically replied with something like: "Yeah but I get paid more than you do for making War Thunder videos so I'm automatically more knowledgeable on you when it comes to War Thunder".
Really wish I could find it now but it made him look like a huge fucking dick IMO.

Man, it's 5am and I'm way too tired for this. What I'll say is: Acid Bananas. Also, I'll say that I've been following your channel since pretty much the very beginning, on my old youtube account and now this one. It's been a long journey, had its ups and downs, sometimes you got something wrong, some small drama... but who doesn't have those moments. Overall I'd say I was a fan, and still am. I'm not planning on stopping. The videos are fun and I enjoy your additions to the community. I hope this drama doesn't weigh on you as much as it seems it has and that this video serves as a good outlet and that people see more of your side, but more on that later. I'll also say I wasn't a big fan of the response video, and that I think it was poorly made and weak in places (a lot of which you address here). I'll also say I do not support gaijin screwing over us players consistently, but also I'm someone who's good enough at the game to not struggle with its economy.
But I was a little disappointed with the "I Quit" video, for a few reasons. Some of them made it into that response video, even if they weren't handled very well there. Unfortunately most of the issues I had were not adequately (imo) addressed in this video (again the response to you doesn't do them either so whatever), and this video has its own issues. Again unfortunately it's early morning and I didn't take notes and am not about to rewatch. One that stuck out to me was how at ~19 minutes you heavily insinuate he's defending gaijin in the face of all the things they did in the last few weeks, making him out as some gaijin simp who hates all of us players, even though his video came out four months ago. Sure, that's not literally what you said, but that was clearly the message that got sent. These are all recent events. Trying to make him look bad for disagreeing with you by saying he's defending these specific things just doesn't work, even if a lot of people will buy it because you don't mention how long ago his video happened, not to mention that he's not saying gaijin is perfect and can do no wrong. It just feels like yet more of the overblown "gaijin bad :(" spam we've had so much of. One of a few things. Also I know it's kinda pedantic but he did say he didn't get paid in real money, not that he didn't receive goods in game. I'm no lawyer but yknow... he's not either. He said he got no money. He makes it clear he's in the CC program, which we know includes the in game benefits. However, if he got no money, his statement is by its raw wording true. Also also, I still don't think its great to be bringing up the name of someone who isn't a really public figure in the community anymore (and doing it again in this video) for pointing out something which is technically true... but maybe that's more of a sore spot for me because that person is a good friend. Also the "lies counter" thing just felt like it was in bad taste, it's too binary and well... who wouldn't leave their counter at 0 for the whole video where they're trying to make themselves look good.
I don't know if a response was the move, I know I speak for not just myself but quite a few others when I say this whole drama kinda had blown over. Drama of any kind has the potential to hurt reputations but bringing it up again doesn't really help that. I know it may have been weighing on you for a long time, but large parts of this video came across as just more angry than anything and I just hope you're doing ok and I hope you can find a way to not let this internet drama consume you. I genuinely hope you're willing to let comments like this stay up. If I have more, or more specific thoughts later I might update. "peace and love" as they used to say.

Ah yes I got to see the Sally B! I could get a photo, I was very enthralled seeing a few bi planes being taken out of their hangars for a midday flight! ✈️ The main one I remember was called ‘Pete’ but my knowledge is light but ww2 focused so I couldn’t tell you what sort they were.

The fact the devs are not in the CC Discord is pretty dumb to me, it just sounds that those “10” filter mods only send their opinions and feelings. Better if the devs could just read all by themselves imo.

It's unfortunate to not have a direct line of communication to at least SOMEBODY who can actually make developmental decisions, mostly because in the Chinese whispers that happen between the moderators on that server and the devs, the importance of a lot of issues doesn't really translate, nor does the necessity of URGENT fixes to specific issues. It's almost impossible to inform the devs of how critical specific issues really ARE, battle rating compression being just one of them.
The staff on the discord do a pretty decent job all things considered, they have to deal with a LOT. They just need to stop biasing what they pass on, and be more consistent with whether it's a light-hearted fun convo or a proper professional place for only well structured polite feedback, and things would be fine on that end. Too late for me though...

I have been a long time advocate for +/- 0.7 BR spread in matches since 1.0 BR difference makes a Huge difference today. Back in 2013-2017 it wasn’t really as big of a problem since there was no missiles, mach capable jets or thermal, ERA, laser rangefinder, Laser warning system, laser guided ammunition, helis……….
And ppl keep commenting that gajob said they wanted to keep variations in matches. How come all I see is full teams of TURMST and A-10 vs Su-25 then? Or the like 5 captured prem for low tier GER everywhere. (And many more premiums depending on what BR I play)
Also the fact that they keep adding copys in all trees, like the new prem sherman for SWE. It wasn’t needed… it doesn’t add variation to the vehicles in matches.
You could look at a lot of different examples with a 1.0 difference. Like F9F-8 vs MIG-21F-13.
Heavy tanks would obviously get buffed with this change. But it would allow more vehicles to be in the spot light.
There would probably bee some vehicles going up because they would perform better as well, this is probably why they really don’t wanna do it. Not like it feels like they have a automated excel spreadsheet that decides when a vehicle goes up or down. That is the reason we have to wait X months before a change can be made. :/
I love warthunder, I’ve just recently gotten into it but it’s just become a game I’ve stopped enjoying, because of the economy. I’m still on tier 2 tanks and aircraft, and I don’t want to be stuck at 3.3 for years. I’ve unlocked every single tank on the US tech tree at this point. I can’t get enough SL in arcade or realistic to get a brand new tank.
3.3 to maybe 4.7 is unironically the best part of the game I reckon. Top tier is pretty trash in most aspects, even up at 8.3 things just aren’t much fun anymore. I would literally say “pretend it doesn’t exist”, unless you wanna drop a thousand bucks on this game to get to it!
If you’re not SPECIFICALLY interested in modern vehicles, I’d say stick at the br’s you’re at. Play the single player missions to earn some free SL, they’re actually pretty enjoyable too and some of them are really easy. Then research up to that same kinda br for some other nations to try it out (I recommend the British Cromwells and the German Pz.IVs). Get up to 6.7 to maybe 7.3 if you can, and then treat that like the end of the game.
If you ARE specifically interested in the modern warfare side of things rather than old WW2 stuff, and you can’t afford a premium to try it out? OR if you’re just not enjoying the 2.7-4.7 br range? War Thunder just probably isn’t the game for you.
