It's very sad that I included "Gaijin fixing War Thunder's economy" in my April Fools video... and it was a joke! One of the biggest jokes there in fact. This was an out of the blue rant I didn't plan on making, a bit of an in between discussion for you lads while I work on the next PROPER video. Wow, I did NOT expect this to get so deep or go on for so long, but what can I say? I LOVE this game, and I want the best for it in every way. These are FAR from all the issues present - there are nonsensical rp and sl costs, imbalanced battle ratings, poorly implemented mechanics, and many, MANY more small, relatively unnoticeable issues by themselves, but add them all up, and they just make this game feel... as I said in the video; unfinished. I didn't plan, script, or prepare for this video in any way, so here's a clarification of something I didn't end up going into -
I do NOT want rewards to be raised SO much that any old noob can reach top tier in a week... a hard grind is a good thing in many ways (a bad thing in some, for sure). But notice that I even had a premium account that I paid Gaijin good money out of my own pocket for, and even with that match......... Nothing. Negative SL, and a hair over 1% the rp cost of a top tier vehicle..... That's just too much. There are plenty of reasons for this, and I WILL be making a more professional style video (and less ranty) very soon where I DO script what I want to say, and go into these issues in detail. This just ended up pouring out in the end, but I hope you lads can understand that I'm only human after all, and sometimes I just gotta get some shit off my chest.

Another thing, you seem to play on RU , S.A servers and your ping is what 200+ with high ping spikes, never play on those servers. Hit wont register
Also the ammo doesn't always explode sometimes you just blow up 1 shell :D

you know what the problem is? from T3 and up the tank sl reward multiplier stays the same at 225% , while everything gets waaay more expensive. i tried to ask them in the feedback forum threat at the rp reduction changes, but the forum moderators just say that they cant put more changes in one patch because then "they would lose track". and they just dont approve your comment about it....it really frustrates me because i make more rp than sl even with premium

This is war thunder, everything is wrong from the visual models to the vehicle specs.
The whole game has issues beyond there economy in general. The specs of the tanks, the player base itself in general, yes there is good players but when forced to carry bad players all the time and then get punished for it most good players will leave. The fact certain guns are more powerful or accurate then they really where, the list is long and boring, some of the staff is bad also.

My money is more on the vehicles being fucked up than there being an overwhelming number of "bad" or "good" players.
Also, numerous times you'll see some muppet in game talking about "ugh I have to carry" or whatever and being a general dickhole about it. It isn't punishment if the people "carrying" are being shits about it.

The economy is broken, the tanks like Abrams are modelled pathetically, there is no balance in top tier. Like you I am losing my interest in the game........I got penned in an Abrams by a zsu 57 through the front cheek armour.....wtf

I have penetrated M1's turrent front with Leopard 2K's 20 mm.
...and i was one shot killed in the IS7 by a nashorn, that was 500 meters away and was a smoke screen in between...and the front armor was facing him....gayjin logic !
Those are pretty much the reasons why all my WT buddies stopped playing the game and when i went on the forum to let the devs know in a very mature manner why all three of my buddies uninstalled the game the thread gets deleted.... It's starting to piss me off.... I really don't want to rage quit one day.....
I like how gaijin said that the new tier 7s would help decompress the BRs yet so far that hasn’t happen an instead, it just compressed 9.0-10.0 to the extreme.

They usually do a br adjustment around the time of economy changes but I’m skeptical at this point. They knew going into it the T-2 and Leo 2A5 were too powerful for their brs
Where do you see if a plane is 9.0 or 10.0?

I think a tier multiplier would be good to fix the bonus issue. For example, a tier 1 vehicle would earn the standard reward and a tier 5 vehicle would earn 5 times the standard reward. Great video as always, keep it up !
Also, if you get uptiered, the bonuses should be higher too.
Bethesda didn't fix Skyrim, the modding community did. And for EA, I give you Anthem: 2 months out and in bad shape. Onto WT: rewards like "Adamant" should scale with the BR or rank of that vehicle.
I'd say Bethesda at least made a good job of making the bugs amusing.... XD

The games hit detection is bad with 30 ping as well, and i mean that by if someone has worse ping than you you get hit is a different spot than it showed on your screen. I have had instances of someone shooting my barrel and the killcam shows them hitting my lower plate and detonating ammo and sometimes i even get shown the killcam from my pov and that comes down to watching the "ammunition exploded" text while you are being shown that your track got hit. This has made me almost quit the game multiple times
As some one who struggles with 400 ping "Australia" I get that shooting at targets.
I’m the guy on the team that wouldn’t mind (actually I claim for it) if in gaijin 2 by 2 months updates they often release one for exclusively for fixing/Working on the quality of the game (like balancing issues, remodeling existing vehicles, adding skins, decals, game moldes, reworking maps, fixing historical stuff like certain planes payloads and features). Like koala said, small details that make all the difference. And thats what makes people leave the game more and more, like me. WT becomes boring to play. After 4 years playing the same thing, nothing really new besides vehicles that bring more unbalance to the game and make us even more extressed playing a game that is not fun and rewarding to play
Well...one of the things I'm looking most forward to is the improvement of sound. Yes, they had one update for the sounds which helped a tad, but the sounds themselves are still weak.
I wish gayjin devs could watch this video. They'd probably say the game is working as intended.

I have all these time crying for my dear Ferdi, but no answer. Its doesn't make sense. I bought my Ferdi years ago, since it got out in wth. You know, I have played only the 10 free repair games and I don't dare to make even one more game in it!
And now the ferdi can be lolpenned by anything it fights but can barely do the same to them. 88 struggles to deal with a T26E1-1/29/30/34, on its Br and it gets even more unviable in an uptier. And the Jagdtiger is worse. But their guns can more than deal with anything and their armour is functional in an uptier, and nobody is ever going to spawn anything but an American heavy or spam planes with enough sp earned from a single hand of plane or cas kills to spawn another plane.
The g55 was 25000sl at one point if i remember correctly i was so scared to use it even if It is a good plane because i had to get two kills stock to not lose money (that i dont have much because i main all nations except France and GB) and also was my first mid tier plane

Biggest reason I quite playing was some of the issues you mentioned in the and the Moderation abuse that happens a lot. Certain moderators break the rules themselves just to force you too obe but openly break theme themselves or bully certain player groups or racial groups. I just couldn't watch it anymore so I stopped playing shortly after I made my account.
Regarding the blowout panels
It seems to me that gaijins server actually calculates internal damage in real time, not as one instance (this is why OHK crew kos through a fuel tank/engine can sometimes say "set on fire" in the same second as the "destroyed" in post battle report etc), what happened was you hit the ammunition BEFORE you pierced the blast door, so technically you didn't penetrate the blast doors until after the ammo cooked off. Also IRL the Abrams blow out panels are automatic, not manual (they aren't blown by the pressure of the blast, rather they're blown by purposeful and controlled means in response to a pressure difference inside), so actually even if the blast doors are penetrated, the panels still blow out, mind you there will be fine inhalation issues but those sometimes just happen with normal operation anyways.

That first leopard 2a5 death, that was my favourite part of the 2a5 to shoot at whenever I’m driving my chally 2. Always ends up killing a 2a5 in 1-2 shots whenever when we’re in a hull down match.
Playing from Indonesia here, kinda have the same problem with ping and PL. I wish we have server nearer to the asia-pacific area.

Honestly what I've always thought for a long time:
The repair cost of a tank should be the actual cost of buying that tank IRL. Shells should be the cost they are IRL, even stock shells.
This would make repairs and shells extremely high in price.
To adjust this, when you kill a tank, say, the Tiger II, you'll get the value of the tank as a reward, 300,000 SL (Assuming you're taking the $ value).
@@yukinokf2480 $4.3 million for the M1A1 but yeah. And every time you kill a T-80U, you'll get $2.2 million as a reward. Makes sense, the M1A1 is by far superior, Russian tanks were generally made to be cheap and easy for the most part. Meanwhile if you kill a Leopard 2A5, you'd earn ~$5.74 million.
It's a risk and reward system really. You could play the lower tiers to get a bank of cash if you're bad at top tier, or you can just make literally billions if you're the slaughterer of top tier :)

I sometimes call my trigger a self destruct button. Say an enemy sees me at the same time I see them and we fire; I blow up and they don't - my shell just vanishes.
I remember the good days when I could pull 20K RP from my Dora in a single game and a good couple thousand SL... But this was yeaaars ago.

4 years playing this game and the only thing I could say is if they where to reduce prices or rp or just increase sl and rp we would get more ppl in this game 4 years playing and I still haven't researched France Italy Japan tanks most of Germany planes everything USA I unlocked my point is there is way to much and the Lions don't stack or rp lol

I think one feature they should add to balance blowout ammo racks is that if a tank is reloading, the door to the blowout compartment is open, so won’t spare the crew from any ammo detonations. If a tank is reloading it’s blowout panels will not work
Koala, I have to correct you. 13:46 - World of Tank used to charge actually "Gold" real life currency to buy "premium ammunition". It isn't called premium ammunition because it cost more then normal ammunition. They call it premium ammunition because you used to have to spend real money in order to use it. World of Tank was definitely a pay to win game.

About the M1 blowout panels, in testing it was showed that a shot into the back of the turret was a 90% chance for a kill when the panel is open. 60% when from the side. So it has a very high chance to kill an Abrams, but still no 100% (and by the way, from the side it should also be 60% a kill, not never as it is modelled now). And shots to the ammo with the panel closed had about a 30% chance to kill, which in game is pretty much zero IIRC.

Dude the rounds weren’t registering for me either a couple days ago. My sabor would go straight through the front of tanks and do nothing. Especially when I’m being spawned camp it makes me die because my shell doesn’t register and I die
War thunder don't care about players that work 10hrs a day and maybe play 2 hours it takes months to get 1 top tier vehicle in 1 nation
I just gave up on researching high tier tanks I've got to the su 100p and then stopped, it's impossible to go on with the repair costs and the grinding, I now play on 4/5 br and I'm happy with that.

Yea before the announcement of the economy fixes I was researching the Italian aircraft tech tree. I was getting between 4-6k per match but after the update, I was getting 3k and maybe 4k max with the same vehicle. They might be reducing the cost of vehicles but they have in the meantime reduced the in-game rewards which kinda counteracts the reduced cost of vehicles
This is why I switched from DM13 to DM12 in My Leopard A1A1 L/44, the cost of the APFSDS was just astronomical, especially when I fired all 20 rounds that I was carrying in one game! Talk about negative SL score, and I was on the winning side too. I still carry some DM13 but my primary round is the HEAT-FS, which is pretty decent to be fair. I have to say though that compared to the grind in WOT, War Thunder is far more satisfying. In WOT I just got to the point where I was so bored I didn't care anymore and deleted it. I also feel your pain with the Ping and lag problems, I have that all the time, it' really maddening at times and in one afternoon recently it got me killed about 4/5 times. I do play via a WiFi connection so I expect some degree of lag at times but some days on WT it is just crazy. I have never encountered the same amount of problems on other online games, in fact can't remember a single instance on WOT where my tank decided to drive itself into a building and then jump forwards and backwards for 5 seconds...
Finally someone talks about the abysmal top tier SL economy. The rounds cost 900, and a kill credits you ~1100. If your repair is 12 000, there is no possible way of getting money even if you win (reward for winning is 6000-7000 SL).
Last week I killed 5, died once and we won, but I got only 76 SL. I also killed 7, died once and I lost 5000, because we lost. Should I have been able to kill 20 opponents?
Spading a tier 6 or 7 tank requires about 500 games without talisman or premium, and this game isnt pay to win?
I have 3 mil SL currently. When I have researched, bought and trained the Leopard 2A5, I wont have that much free cash. And when I eventually run out of money after paying for the repair and modifications of that tank, I will stop playing this game for good.
I 100% agree with this video. in this one game i played i got 7 kills in my M1A1 and 1 assist, died. Then respawned in ipm1 and got a kill and plane kill died. Won the game with premium and i came out with -3000 SL. i hate top tier, it is impossible to make profit if you die

I would reckon that a chunk of the grind issues people talk about would be addressed if rewards scaled with the tiers. Im thinking the reward increase be by a multiplier (rank ÷ 2). This multiplier doesn't apply until rank 2 but doesn't see actual reward increases til rank 3 when the multiplier starts going above 1.
Take Adamant for example;
I: 450
II: 450×1=450
III: 450×1.5=675
IV: 450×2=900
V: 450×2.5=1175
VI: 450×3=1350
VII: 450×3.5=1575
VIII: 450×4=1800
The numbers don't start naturally increasing and scaling til rank 3. Appropriate for the tier since one tends to breeze through the lower ranks anyway.
Just a small correction: in WoT, people call the premium round "gold ammo" because at first the premium round actually *did* cost gold. WG finally changed it for a higher amount of credits, but that stayed for a long time, so the term is hard fixed into the community.
I never noticed that rewards don't scale with tier until I saw this. Unfortunately it's doubtful we will ever get a major bug and gameplay focused patch with the amount of seals that blindly praise Gaijin for every new vehicle announced.
This is why i usually grind around tier I-III because you dont get the atrocious repair costs and its still fun

you can shoot thru bushes by looking over them in 3rd person or using the binoculars to aim. so you cant see them but they can see you.
100% agree with this video and have made the same gripes on the official forums in the past. With regards to them fixing things and the length of time it takes, I think part of that boils down to their very rigid reporting system where you have to format the post just so in order for them to even take a peek at it. The Mig 15 Bis Ish has broken rocket sites that I tried to tell them about but since I didn't format the bug report perfectly they ended up deleting my bug report.
The rewards used to be higher back in the day. Skill Matters was a 10k SL medal and there used to be no limit on getting those medals. Once people started spamming derp tanks or things like ASU-57 and making 50k from 4 kills they nerfed all rewards into the ground.
Or just enjoy the lower tiers, I love flying my PBY-5 at tier 2.
Idk if you will read this, but I just wanted to say a few things. It honestly annoys me how much people get so angry/all heated up if a WT youtuber plays WoT. You do you Koala! People are childish when they leave dislikes and unsubscribe if someone plays WoT ( a lot of people did that when Slick played WoT, which is stupid). Honestly, I am interested in seeing your video of WoT, as I am taking a long break from WT too. I am tired of them just adding top tier tanks, and not fixing the game. I have no premium, and I am stuck on the T95E1 American tank. Anyway, thanks for making this video. You can make whatever content you want, and you will always have me as a loyal subscriber Koala!
Is it bad that I knew exactly where this was going the moment his Leo 2A5 was destroyed?
The game has definitely been unfinished and unpolished for as long as I've been playing. There seemed to be a more active approach to fixing small issues earlier on, but now they seem to have completely abandoned fixing old issues. The one thing that I always think about is hit-boxes of AI targets, like pillboxes and ships, where your bomb or rocket can hit it but it will go straight through and do no damage.
Also, while they're improving the economy later in April, they've confirmed that this update won't be the one that will result in reduced repair and ammo costs (biggest problem for most people), and that they'll have to wait and analyze how this economy update goes before implementing anything. So I think repair costs are a long way away from changing.
The difference is also that Gaijin is a Russian company vs Western companies. It's Russian "quality" versus Western "quality"
Isn't a point of Russian quality supposed to be quick simple fixes? as he said, it took gaijin 3 months to fix a simple thing.
"Gold ammo" in World of Tanks - some years ago You could not buy it by in game free to play currency only by gold. That's why it was called gold ammo. "Złote Pestki" in polish.
These issues and the grind for modifications while obviously at their most extreme at tier 7 really start to bite much lower in the tree. If you don't have the time or will to spend hundreds of hours a week grinding and don't have premium it can start as low as tier 4.

I feel you when you're talking about Silver Lion grind, I have the T-54 1947 in my line up and have unlocked the 1949, 1951, IS-3 and BMP-1 but don't have the SL to buy them. If at least they let you use your free RP to buy the vehicule or at least pay the training for them it would be awesome and my million of unused point would be worth something. Damn I ain't even playing the T-54 1947anymore since they compressed the BR and I gotta play with tank having stabilizer and heat-fs... there nothing quite like being uptiered hehe
You mention your ping spiking to 700ms while shooting at the 2nd Abrams, that could be why the ammo rack acted the way it did, lost packets meaning the server had to interpret as best it could.
i am so agree with you, from late T4 to 6 is just a nightmare, i used to be a hardcore player
but now i just can't keep up with the amount of time necesary to earn the amount of money for new tanks, no matter what i do, even if i have good match for a casual player, i normaly stay at ranks 4 to 6 on average, with a few kills each time i play, but that
the rounds i use drain my money, also the repair costs, the unfair behavior of the game, i saw in several times, tank bullets comming from above, literally 90º and hitting a team mate, i experience issues trying to figure where the shots coming from because at certain distance everything dissapears, even the enemy tanks.
i even had considered to boost myself for a while with a premium account, but i don't think it's the solution, they should multiply the rewards for some degree to compensate.. for example the 7k SL i lose for damages in a tank which is insane if you consider you earn 1.5k SL for a kill
The MGs of the PakPuma, the regular Puma and at least the Hetzer are buggy sind last summer.

You want to loose money in a good game, use the Lorraine 40t its 22k repair cost is making sure that you won't progress unless you play another nation or tier
My M1A1 gets lolpenned in the thickest armour from 2km whilst i have to aim for wakspots on t80s and leo2a5s at 100m. Yeah, id say something is wrong
As for your blow out panel bit i have to agree, but how the fuck does apfsds explode and cook off when theres hardly any explosive in the warhead (now keep in mind last time i checked it doesnt have any explosive filler but i could be wrong and if i am please tell me)

You know what's wrong? I play on XB1X, and I used to run max settings no problem. After the various updates they've rolled out the passed week... I'm running around 21fps. It's horrible. Don't know how they fucked that up so bad.
this is exactly the reason i don't play ground forces anymore in the game. To even get a positive SL count from ground RB i have to shooot down 3-4 planes because you really can't get that with the vehicles
With the repair simulator that this game is. it sometimes leaves me looking for new realistic tank game but unfortunately they are far and few. It would be cool if when you got hit in the breach you had to unload and reload a new round and had a 2x as long reload for subsequent shells as well until you actually repaired your gun. That would make it so you could defend yourself and maybe leave in a small chance of blowing yourself up if you fired. Something like this would help the cannon breach meta that plagues top tier.
The last game I played before quitting was terrible. I was rolling around the desert at 12 mph in my Valentine IX and I poked my turret out of cover, killed a dude and pulled completely out and the damage indicator goes nuts. I go 3rd person to see in shells are hitting me, nope. I sit there because I wasn’t being damaged at that point. I shoot another idiot who drove in front of me and didn’t see me. I took damage but no shells hit me (I was still in 3rd). Being the smrt wt player I am I noped backwards at 2 or 1 mph, magic damage to my engine and I can’t move anymore, then I magically explode. Who gets the kill?
Nobody because I self destructed apparently.
It's sad to play a game and finally unlock the tank you want and realize that the you have to play 50extra match's to get SL but that's all to chance if you win the game especially if your a solo player and on console o you can't grind on ARB
100% with you man but sadly gaijin only want money, they don't know what balance is, they just want the money keep rolling and when things get to serious and the comunity start getting upset they change something here and there to chill the crowd a little bit, balance it is not their primary focus.
The thing is, they would get WAY MORE MONEY by fixing these issues and thereby fixing the game, and drastically increase player enjoyment and therefore their likelihood to WANT to pay for something like skins or bushes, titles, decals or premium vehicles like the BM-8, Type 75 or Centurion AVRE (not an op grinding premium, but a rare and fun premium just for the memes)
For me, I grinded a majority of vehicles that I wanted. Usually, nowadays, I just log into War Thunder and test drive my favorite vehicles and then quit. It’s just not worth the headache and stress.
Great video and like you said the game has many issues. One of them is stuttering on ps4 while I'm actively posting threads on the forum for documented reports they just ignore them. I would like to raise awareness of it. For example the game stutters when you go at 1100 km/h which makes it impossible to aim. I have recorded how this looks but I won't get much attention because I'm not a well-known person and I really need help with that.

had a game with 4 kills one assist, zero deaths in tank RB. i have a premium membership to the game at the moment, and i only wound up getting 5k exp towards the leopard 2a5. i would think maybe more should be rewarded? also wound up only making 10k lions despite never dying...?
The same thing happened to me. I shot an Abrams 6 times from the sides and 3 of them directly from behind. All my shots pierced him, but no damage. He was totally empty inside, no ammo, no crue, nothing and in the and he killed me one shot.

Why doesn’t gaijin just make it so that whatever SL rewards you earn in a game get multiplied by the battle rating or even the tier of the tank you earn the silver lions in?
one funny match: Got 2+2 kills and died once with rus tanks(10.0) , lost the game and got about +10000 SL.
Asked via chat and the enemy GER dude got 4 kills, died twice and won the match, he "profited" -5000SL
...eh, wait what????
I could also suggest Armored Warfare by Obsidian entertainment, kind of like WoT, but... noticably different, on top of being primarily modern tanks starting from mid to early cold war era onwards
Got my abrams after almost 8 months of casual grinding because I wanted to play a more fast paced tank gameplay.
After the abrams repair cost reduction, I cant justify playing top tier.
Even with an XM-1 I can barely ever turn a profit playing.
Most people would say git gud but you cant play flawlessly every match and you certainly cant rely on your team to cooperate to gain a victory.
Averaging 2-3 kills a match and maybe 1 or 2 shared caps still doesnt give you enough to fix both the m1a1 and ipm1.
Also, sucks that those round costs for germany are so high when 6 vehicles from russia come stock with an apfsds and dont have to rely on heat-fs to grind for an apfsds.
Your pain is top tier
Russia's pain is during late/mid tier 5 in the heavy line..
I have not much to say on the topic of this video. I share a lot of the same opinions and have been annoyed at those "rewards" for those medals at high tiers for a long time. Hopefully Gaijin get their head out of their ass one of these years and fixes some of this shit.
Also, hearing you're going to possibly put up some World of Tanks content actually quite heavily excites me. I've been enjoying it on the side a fair amount recently and am genuinely interested in watching those videos from you. So I'll be keeping an eye out for that!

Some good points in this vid. WoT's be good to see that arcady game in a few videos. Seems like quite a few Tuber's/ streamers from WT doing this now, funny how most of them complain about WT's AB mode being too Arcady but then play WoT's? Be interesting to see your take on it. It would be nice to see you and some other content creator's get together and do some videos, on what is wrong with the game. IE : maps/RP gain/ SL gain/ MM/balance, in a civilized way to get the community talking and hopefully get Gaijin listening, but it has to be in a civilized manner.. keep the great videos coming.
I'd rather they reduce ammunition and repair costs than raise the rewards. War Thunder is so "unfinished" that some of it's more unfinished parts prevent the others from being fixed easily. War Thunder's reward system is most likely tied to the game mode you're playing (i.e. GF RB, Air Arcade). When they removed the Arcade bombing indicator from Ground RB it also had the side effect of removing it from Air RB because all RB games are somehow linked. Gaijin explained this and countered negative community feedback from some Air RB players with "it's not a bug it's a feature". To this day some attack aircraft are forced to essentially guess where their bombs are going to land.
° Get rid of repair cost
° Get rid of ammo cost, if anything.. put realistic ammo cap to it. like you can't have 50 atgms in m60a2 if it can only fit 15 atgms.
° increase SL/RP earning
° decrease Spawn points
° make new game modes.
that should fix it just enough that the games became enjoyable.
