If I recall correctly, The yellow/red lines are supposed to indicate the density of materials to scrape.. red is low density, yellow medium, blue high, green very high
I recommend left alt and mousewheel to slightly spread the distance between lasers to get a little more material. yours are spread 0.00M (see center value between target indicators). Our crew has been using 0.12 to 0.15M spread to grab a little more material. I believe at 0.00 the beams are overlapping slightly.
Oh interesting, thank you for posting this! I am finding so far that around 45% flow rate on both heads I start getting left behind material, higher that that and I see larger chunks during scraping.
While watching your video, I didn't see it mentioned and you weren't using it with your demonstartion, but the default "G" keybind toggles the gimble salvaging arms on the Vulture at least so you doing have to be maneuvering the ship as much when working. Great rundown of the ship and the career and love the content!
If you have the cab door open when you try to leave the pilot seat it will eject you from the ship (out the door). If the door is closed you’ll rotate 180 degrees and stand up
Merry Christmas! Thank you for the video post! Yes we all keep saying mining hehe. I think the idea behind being able to in ship manufacture is a couple of things, until there is an in ship cargo management tractor beam the ability to craft all that is needed for this game play loop offers parity with the Prospector, we do not need to get out to load are saddle bags just to gather ore. Also we get a nice start at a bit of crafting. CIG did a good job with the gather effects with the salvage heads and beams as well as deformation patterns, gathering heads slowing down when there is little to no material etc - to make it feel more realistic. Yes the cargo movement is janky. With ship scraping, we get cargo full so fast, not sure how that will work with the rest with cutting hulls and components. One suggestion is to have far higher density for scraping and value per container - saving space and offering better value per process along with a good salvage run gathering other materials as well. It is a good start for sure and a positive direction with what we have so far, salvage is a big item has been there with us since the original kickstarter - it has been a very long time.

somebody just told me that you actually dont need a salvage ship to complete the first few salvage missions to unlock 30k salvages... its enough to BLOW UP the salvage ship. contract is completed if there is nothing to salvage ;-)
i was scraping some hulls and filled up 2 boxes so i pulled them out and put them on the grid but after that anything that i scraped wouldnt load into a box or anything, it was just scraping and disappearing any ideas?

I'm good up until the part where I have to sell. I land, leave the fully loaded vulture in the hangar, and run to the TDD. At this point, I'm stuck. When I select the Vulture, there's nothing showing up sell. I think I heard you mention storing the ship. Do I have to do that, instead of just leaving the Vulture in the hangar, to be able to sell from the TDD terminal?
I don't think you have to store it. You should be able to sell just by being landed in the hangar. The terminals have changed now so I don't have the interface memorized yet.

is high density good or bad
The colour dictates how much the hull has been scraped, and so how much there is left to go

172.3k aUEC before sale
226.2k aUEC after sale
7 scu of scrap
53.9k difference
That's 7.7k aUEC per box!
Tetris master here, you can fit 22 SCU in the Vulture if you stack it right

As soon as you get down the ladder , that when your get attacked, haha
Thanks for the Guide. Can't wait to try the VULTURE in the new year.
You can most definitely use the cargo to create the multi tool and tractor beam if necessary. That is a great feature.
Can't wait to try this myself, can't wait for the 3rd wave
Now I am even more excited for n open PTU, can't wait to try this out!
I personally prefer the Aaron halo to look for Salvage. Much safer than Lagrange points or known Asteroid fields.
Same with mining. Not likely to get snuck up on and if you are, it’s probably by another miner or salvager.
One has to wonder how the wrecks got there, though. 😅
(Or are they all Prospector and MOLE wrecks? 🤔)
Merry Xmas. Scavenging is chill.
Nice guid, wel done.
This is extremely cool.
The Vulture can make you a Multi-tool and Tractor beam. So dont need to bring just make. 👍
Short and easy, thx a lot.

have you heard anything about when we will hear more about the BMM? i thought citizencon, but nothing :(
I dont get why you need to manually handle the boxes.... if that is the cargo refactor they have in mind....

A "shift" key to align a box to the ships gravity would be nice too, to place boxes off-grid in a neat way.

I had this issue, i believe its related to the blank/black HUD and elevator issue. I had to do a character reset to fix this.
I want to try salvaging once I'm able to. I have to wait for 3.18 to go to live server though.
might want to add how to enable the salvage module with the m key.. pretty big thing to leave out of your EASY guide..
thought my headset was broken on the intro
how do you activate salvage mode on the ship?

great guide!
There are salvage contracts now, fyi everybody
EIGHT minutes of gameplay, got no downlode deal ?

Not bad for its first implementation...

wow, the physics is so glitchy. do you use AI?

Can you not just rec your own ship and scarp it
Stop salvaging while the boxes are swapping out, anything you harvest while they are ejecting is lost.
hull scraping, not hole scraping
As I suspected - this isn't a very profitable playstyle.
