Rough Point: original owner Frederick Vanderbilt (brother to Cornelius II of the Breakers and William K. of Marble House). This was the first Vanderbilt mansion in Newport.The Dukes came later. I can remember being on the Cliff Walk while Doris Duke was still in residence and there were live camels on the back lawn. Marble House: no, that's a portrait of the Commodore, not his grandson William; the portrait of the gentleman @10:57 in the video is Willie K. The Elms has always been my favorite since I first when to Newport in the late 60's. Very good video.

I stayed in the Breakers back in the 70's when it was a summer school. I stayed in the room that had the balcony where the opening scene to the tv show Dark Shadows. It was wonderful but didn't look like it is now fixed up. Very beautiful place. I loved the cliff walk and remember their was a mansion that had shutters with moon and things carved into them. There were also 3 stautes on the lawn. We used to call it the vampire house. I hope to get back there one day.

I applaud your efforts, but every shot does not need to move. Having static shots allows the eye to rest and the brain to register and enjoy what it is seeing. Also, please don’t cut in the middle of a pan or zoom.

We were lucky enough to visit Newport in September, it was very foggy. Loved the Breakers and Marble House.
