I've been watching F1 since the '80s, and for me, Ayrton Senna was the undisputed GOAT-not because of stats, but because of what I witnessed with my own eyes.
I never imagined anyone could surpass him behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car-until Max. Now, I can’t see anyone being better.
I vividly remember a race during the dominant Mercedes era where both Silver Arrows lapped the entire field-completely obliterated the competition. Well, all except one car. That car was Max's.

It’s always hard to compare drivers from different eras driving really different cars on different tracks (read, more dangerous), but one can compare stuff like learning curve, not repeating mistakes, and keeping them to a minimum, and pure racecraft, Verstappen is above them all imo. And really a completely own style. He doesn’t really remind me of Senna, a bit more of Schumacher maybe, and that fighting spirit Alonso has.

I started watching F1 seriously about 4 or 5 years after Senna's passing. Statistically, he wasnt even the best driver of his generation...that would be Prost. But there's no doubt that in the wet and on his best days he' was probably the fastest ever.

The problem is that many new fans of f1 have never seen the great drivers of the past in their prime. They get their perception of f1 racing based on what they see on DTS. I support Max because he reminds me of those greats that I grew up watching. If Max sticks it out I think for sure he will challenge Senna for GOAT

I'm a Dutch man and have been following F1 since 1970 ! I will never forget when I saw Max for the first time driving in a kart in 2010 in Holland !!
He was at that age (12 years) already by far the fastest kart driver in Holland ! Everywhere in Holland, indoor and outdoor kart tracks, he set the fastest lap times ever driven on these tracks already when he was a young boy !!
I said in that time many times to my friends, this son of Jos Verstappen is so incredibly fast and he has so much talent ! I think we will see him in the F1 someday !! ✌️👍🙋🏻‍♂️

I remember seeing the layout of the Kayalami circuit in autosport magazines about F1 years previous. Always hoped F1 would return there. In my opinion it's simple; if we claim F1 to be a world championship at the very least it should be open to the whole world (which it is) and preferably it should visit every continent with only Antarctica as the sole logical exception. No idea what the current state of Kayalami is. Wouldn't be surprised if it would need a lot of work to meet modern standards.

Only a couple of hrs later he puts that car on pole. Make no mistake it wasnt the same car but there inlies the whole issue. He had zero practice and zero knowledge of what to expect and on his very first hot lap went straight to the top. He had no clue what would happen when he sent it into turn one on lap one. Something tells me he has broken Norris like he broke Perez in Miami last year. This was probably Norris' one single opportunity to become champion and he blew it. Next year will be very interesting and not only because Hamilton is going to fer. Wonder what Oscar is going to do, Norris might have a hard enough time with him. Just as children learn to talk and walk, Max learned to drive. His mindset stands apart from other drivers. Having received the finest schooling in F1, it has shaped him into an exceptional driver.

It's rare to spot a driver who hints at having no defined upper limit, like when he became youngest ever F1 winner. It was franked with unreal flair at Brazil 2016, and further stamped from then on. Fortune favours the brave, but for a brave genius she rolls out a red carpet, as in '21. Brazil '24 showed that what we perceive as negative pressure, appears to fuel him. I love pure brilliance, don't care who displays it, and Max brought a truckload to a very grey F1. Another great video Cameron 👍👍

    Cameron I will see you what you said, and raise you this;
There are two kinds of setups that primarily go into every race. One that everyone is always talking about and one that no one in the whole wide world is talking about.
The first being the car setup which is widely pedaled and which we don’t really know in details and can’t understand it, even if came to know of the details, like Windsor often shares the details on.
The second and the more important and even more un understandable but very evident is the Driver setup. That happens only in the mind and the very inner psyche of the driver. No one knows but everyone will see the result of it.
All 20 drivers are setup to race, some are setup to not make mistakes, even lesser are setup to win the race, even lesser to eye and win the championship.
One road is setup to simple dominate.
Dominate on every turn and every millimeter of available track. Dominate on every mind on the track. Dominate the very air.
Wins and championships happen for him in the background in the scheme of things.
This one answers to the name, Maximillian Verstappen.
His has every faculty available to him that all the other 19 top in the world have and then a lot more
What’s the result of this, not championships, that as I said happens in the background.
The result is the car he drives finishes every race quite a lot of positions above the best scientific possibility, capability of the machine.
Again, not the wining races, all races. Belgium, and many others where the car finished 5,7,8 or whatever number. Every race is quite a bit more than maximized and that brings championships running to even the third fourth fastest car on the grid.
    I rest my case, Mi-Lord.

His anger and aggression is a secret not so secret weapon of his. When he's spiteful he gets faster and more aggressive where 95% of the time it works for him and only 5% of the time it works against him. This is the only personal weakness that I see in him that isn't even a true weakness. He's a perpetual line stepper who knows the rulebook inside and out and will sacrifice time penalties and penalty points as a resource to win. He has qualities of the past greats in his DNA. You can see parts of Senna, Schumacher, Prost, Clark, Lewis etc, in his driving. The only way to beat him right now is with a vastly faster car cause lord know if he has a car that's 2nd or 3rd fastest he'll be in the fight still. He's a apex predator that preys on his targets weaknesses, driver and team.

I think next year all of the top teams are going to be fairly equal but will be swapping who is best depending on track and conditions. That kind of championship battle favours Verstappen all day long. And hear me out, these cars are not far off their max potential. They are beating times of the W11 on high speed tracks and these cars are nearly 80kg heavier or something. They can’t get that much faster, so it’s not like Mclaren or Ferarri can gain a second plus in pace next season, it will be more like gains of 3-4 tenths for teams.

This is probably the best drive I have seen. Senna was quicker than max, but he couldn’t do it like max over a season. Max this year was Schumacher level. Schumacher 1994 Williams was the quickest Schumacher champion (senna would have won had he not left us, as Damon was mediocre but still had the quickest whip) 2000 McLaren was quickest but again Schumacher rose to the occasion and 2003 was Ferrari really the quickest? @@TommyLeeRoyce But it's not the points tally before the final race now, is it, it's after. Not to mention that Max would have been champion races before the end if the stewards had done their job properly. Because of their bias and corruption, they clearly couldn't do a proper job. It took the race director to intervene in the last race to create but an ever so slightly more level playing field because he was sick and tired of all the BS his stewards were causing. In a level playing field, the final race wouldn't have even mattered. But alas, it was skewed as can be. That season, Max was not only up against merc and Hamilton, but the FIA as well even though they are supposed to be impartial. Yet Max prevailed. Has Hamilton ever had to fight the FIA before? I highly doubt it. Heck, the FIA tried to do it again this season, favouring Norris in Maxico and Brazil. Luckily, Max showed once more he can defeat them all, including the so-called impartial adjudicators of the FIA. Max is the best to ever do it, only the DTS and casual fans don't see it.
