Probably did not pay Rent, landlord feels upset and built up his temper. The government needs to change the landlord and tenant board system, allow Landlords to collect rent
*Wrong* - how quick you are to *victim-blame.* The couple were up-to-date on rent. They'd raised concerns about mold in their basement apartment that the landlord did not address. They eventually got an order for the landlord to repair, and on the day it was issued, he shot the couple *in the back,* as they *fled,* on the front lawn. The landlord then barricaded himself in his house and there was a *stand-off* with police, who shot and killed him.
Awful. My prayers to all involved. Hyper Inflation, homelessness everywhere, foodbank usage highest ever. Crime on the rise. Bad roads, Empty bike lanes everywhere causing congestion on the roads everywhere. Red light cameras, speed cameras alot of ill will between people because of the pandemic nobody trusts anyone anymore. Im surprised this isnt happening all the time.
@vinrico4704 - *You* brought up *bike lanes* - and they likely commented on it because (like me) they thought it was a *ridiculous reason* to attribute to current _societal unrest._ I've been a *year-round cyclist* in Toronto (even during rain and snowstorms) for over 35 years - way before _any bike lanes_ - and there's *always* been traffic on *arterial roads* and *highways* (FYI - Dundas Street E & W is a *highway)* - and it's caused by *_poor road instructure_* that prioritized cars, SUVs and trucks, but not considering *Vulnerable Road Users* (VRUs), like *_pedestrians, wheelchair/mobility device users,_* *cyclists,* and now _e-bikes, e-scooters_ and other _micro-mobility e-riders._ As for whining about so-called "empty bike lanes," you've heard the phrase "Build it and they will come;" it takes time for people to adjust to new things, and *installing safe bike lanes* that *protect* cyclists & e-riders (i.e. more than simply painted lines on roads) encourages them to try them. There's been a big increase in people riding bicycles and using bike lanes, especially since the pandemic, when many who worked in essential services started cycling to and from work to avoid public transit, then continued to, post-pandemic. Cycle Toronto, the city's largest cycling advocate organization that works with the city in an advisory capacity, has done studies and bicycle counts that support the increase in cyclists over the past 20-odd years, and especially since *Vision Zero* (for safe streets & reduced fatalities of VRUs) was implemented.

There are a lots of questions to be asked here and yet not answer or detail information: 1. What are the description of both lanlord and tenants, 2. Is the firearm legally registered, 3. What are the neighbors' comments on this landlord and tenant?
The local news said the firearms were legally owned. The tenants were an EA at a local school and an electrician who were both working and the dispute was over the slum lord not repairing the unit where they had to go through the city which caused him to snap. The neighbours describe all parties as quiet people and they had no idea this was coming, they also didn’t know the guy owned guns.
You can always get a firearms if you have a good friend who is over 60 years old and had worked as a farm hands in his early years or as a current amateur hunter; in region like Yukon, getting a firearm ( rifle ) is as easy as going to WALmart to get some vegetables!

Landlords all across the country have had it easy for at least the last 10 years. The real estate market has been inflating all over. Rentals have been unreasonable for about as long. Gov’t needs to get back to building public housing. They used to up until about 30 years ago. But then neo liberal economics took over… “let the markets take care of it”. Since then building hasn’t kept pace with population growth. Now we have a wicked problem wherein institutional investors are heavy with real estate. When the bubble bursts a bunch of pension plans are going to suffer. I don’t care about property management businesses, they’ve had it too good for too long.

Exactly, Tenant board does nothing for landlords to recover unpaid rents.
Very sad 3 lives gone for possibly non sense dispute.
This is due to the conditions the federal and provincial government have created.
And the globally renowned pro-criminal moronic Canadian judges!
Probably did not pay Rent, landlord feels upset and built up his temper. The government needs to change the landlord and tenant board system, allow Landlords to collect rent
I'm guessing the landlord couldn't keep up with repayments, and the couple weren't paying the rent,
*Wrong* - how quick you are to *victim-blame.* The couple were up-to-date on rent.
@@CarFreeSegnitz the fact that two people are dead and your more concerned about bike lanes says everything.
@@mswiftley1558 the fact that two people are dead and your defending bike lanes says everything.
@vinrico4704 - *You* brought up *bike lanes* - and they likely commented on it because (like me) they thought it was a *ridiculous reason* to attribute to current _societal unrest._ I've been a *year-round cyclist* in Toronto (even during rain and snowstorms) for over 35 years - way before _any bike lanes_ - and there's *always* been traffic on *arterial roads* and *highways* (FYI - Dundas Street E & W is a *highway)* - and it's caused by *_poor road instructure_* that prioritized cars, SUVs and trucks, but not considering *Vulnerable Road Users* (VRUs), like *_pedestrians, wheelchair/mobility device users,_* *cyclists,* and now _e-bikes, e-scooters_ and other _micro-mobility e-riders._
As for whining about so-called "empty bike lanes," you've heard the phrase "Build it and they will come;" it takes time for people to adjust to new things, and *installing safe bike lanes* that *protect* cyclists & e-riders (i.e. more than simply painted lines on roads) encourages them to try them.

Landlord was male, 57 years-old, lived upstairs in the same house with his girlfriend. His gun was legal.
What questions. It's long over. No threat to you
You can always get a firearms if you have a good friend who is over 60 years old and had worked as a farm hands in his early years or as a current amateur hunter; in region like Yukon, getting a firearm ( rifle ) is as easy as going to WALmart to get some vegetables!

I swear I thought everybody already knew that.....
Then Hamilton must have tons of worse squatters!
@@CarFreeSegnitz A lot of it boils down to personal decisions.
