Halo 3 in 2024 is…Unplayable

Halo 3 might be one of the best games of all time. Great campaign, multiplayer and custom games. Everything about this game was done right. But in 2022 343 & Microsoft shut the game down making this game a empty space of what used to be.

It lasted almost 15 years. A lot of games don't make it 5 years before their servers are shut down. That's a pretty damn good run, and a testament to its success.
But online services always have a time limit, and unless someone homebrews a replacement, once it's gone, it'll be gone forever. Enjoy those games while they last, while you have access.

I did the vid masters. Was in shock when they just gave it for free. I was so proud. It felt so cool getting those achievements. Good times

Nothing lasts forever. We should feel fortunate that a series this great is still seeing love in the form of remasters/remakes and new games. Take it from a Mega Man X fan....

The og trilogy came out just before i was born and i never got into halo until after they shut them all down... I really wish i could have expierienced this golden age.

I loved halo 3. I put so many hours into it back in the day. But i am glad we have the mcc. Look, i know it sucks to not be able to play on the original servers... but go back and try to play other classic multiplayer games from before the xbox one/ps4 era. Even if you're lucky enough that the servers are still up, youll end up dealing with cheaters and hackers or playing against the same 4 people over and over again.
By releasing and consistently updating the MCC, you get a steady stream of opponents and a guarantee that at least 99% of them wont be hackers. As well as cut content and additional cosmetics. I think halo got a pretty good deal compared to other franchises
