I'm on PS3 cause there's no backwards compatibility, if they moved games to PS4/PS5 with multiplayer support i'd go, i play original demon souls and MGS peacewalker mostly these days

Many won't know this but Metal Gear Online may have had one of the first shooter battle royales in gaming with a game mode called Stealth Deatchmatch (SDM). It has the shrinking circle that damages health if outside and with a MGS twist. The game was so ahead for its time in many ways.
It's so crazy to think that the Wii, Xbox 360, and even Wii U/3DS stores have already closed, but the PS3 not only continues to have an active store but also has a very active Online community. This is simply astonishing for an 18 year old console, I really hope this continues for many years to come.

@@cococock2418 you don't actually get anything for paying. all the money goes to Sony when the publishers are hosting the servers. Or sometimes there's no servers at all what are you smoking I play PC and Steam haas good quality online. and it's all free
PS3 had one of the best UI's, the way it separated and organized all your media, gaming content, trophies everything was so seamless. I don't know if we'll ever get another XMB style ui from playstation again.
If it had cross game party chat it would’ve been the best console ever, but that’s too good to be true. Especially in the current gaming era . Pay to play/ pay to win is a norm now
For that matter, the XMB menu also made the PSP really cool to store media on as well. If only that console had proper PSN support, with party chat and such...

I’m startin to see major nostalgia and retro content for the ps3 surface with it almost turning 20 years old. It’s crazy that the ps3 is a retro console now and to see the nostalgia kick in.
Wouldn't consider it fully retro yet as it plays HD. The previous console's main display output was composite and were commonly used with CRT televisions, which makes them retro in my opinion. So I would say its on the verge of being retro.
@@Solidus155The DualShock3 is the only thing that doesn’t feel modern. It feels so small after play with the PS4 and PS5 controllers. It doesn’t help that my controllers I’ve had basically as long as I’ve had the console, which is about 15 or so years now. The newer controllers do work with the PS3 though, so that’s handy.
So so happy to see you cover MGO, genuinely always thought it was so far ahead of it's time and was devastated when it was shut down. There's still lots of new players coming back, so to any old players who see this, come check it out again!
The PS3 is by far the best console Sony ever made and its not even close. No need to download game discs to play, watch all your movies and anime from your usb without any issue and free multiplayer. It doesn't get better. than that.
@@ross3695_basedhax Most games had it incorporated anyways, but for the actual app in the system, the RAM limitations got in the way more often that not. One of the reasons people say 360 was best, even its pretty much dead and abandoned these days, unlike ps3 tho
PS2 and PS4 have a way better catalog of games. PS3, with today standards, feels like an arcaic PS4 at this point. I mean, I love PS3 and I still play on mine from time to time, but it wasn't as good, even for Sony. It was hell to program, and most exclusives were average or lower.
Er, I don't know. I say ps2 is still better and ps4 second. Ps3 has some nice games, and yeah free online is nice. But damn, sure has more fps problems then the 360.

I’ve noticed some people have this odd mentality (to me) where when they move onto the next generation or title, they act like they can never go back like you must always play the newest consoles and games only. Screw that, even though I have a PS5 and Switch, I’ll still play my N64, PS1, PS2, DS, GBA and so on. You can always go back in one way or another so it’s best not to limit yourself to the just the latest of things.
These are the same people who call you broke boy for playing on these older consoles, they can't comprehend why anyone would be interested in a game that isn't on the latest console.
ps3 xmb & friends list menu was the best. logging in to that suspenseful “signing in” & seeing “account management” with a smiley was always a W. Trophy levels, comments & the color/avatar customization was A1. Simple is more
My first real console online experience (well after the Wii which was decent but I only really played SSBB online, CoD WaW and Naruto CoN before I got a PS3. Also didn't really experience it on PS2 cuz the ethernet cable and dial up internet hassle, plus few games supported, and more importantly local multiplayer with friends and fam just never got me thinking about online play on it.) PS3 is what nearly got me away from PC online gaming for good. I’m still playing ps3 games, and i should buy more ps3 games rn, I’ve been having my old games when I was 4 or 3 years old, also my brother played it, when he was in middle school and high school, and got lucky
This system was way ahead of its time. This is why I still have 165 physical games and multiple controllers and accessories. The entire Xbox 360 and PS3 generation are legendary libraries to have.
I've been buying a lot of 7th gen games on Steam. Best gaming era ever in my view I also got a red superslim this year, 11 years after not having a working PS3 to play my disc library again
Just last year I was still playing MW2 and BF4 on the PS3. Both communities still active, especially Battlefield. It was a surprise but the mood was great. Casual fun, no one sweating or creating huge parties to pub stomp. Just felt nostalgic.
Aim still playing ps3 slim despite having ps4 pro, focusing on trophys i missed for games i had and really cant tell you how much im enjoying it! Tried some digital games i own through U.K account like the bundle of BF which ended in hardline Part, Unfortunately BF2 server was closed im not sure if BF3 closed as well but probably will jump for the game trophy one day!

This year I have played Call of duty World at war , Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops 2 on the PlayStation 3 and they all had great online servers with a few not a lot of hackers thankfully. 2:20 He went to heaven. Tomb Raider 2013 was amazing on the PlayStation 4 and still is with a fun online multiplayer. I'm surprised that you forgot about it. Also unlike other games Tomb Raider 2013 you can find players online fast and easy. I have but on the PlayStation 4. Also hearing him talked about the game I am grateful to have experienced Tomb Raider 2013 at It's peak and play it throughout the years both story and Online Multi-player. 24:31 I love how you just tagged out and called backup Terrell to take over. Tekken 6 and Ultra Street Fighter 4 were amazing and I still find game on the PlayStation 3. This was fun. Cool video. ^_^
Mystic the BioShock 2 multiplayer community is somewhat alive but usually Adam Grab. The last match we played was on April 27. We play around late EST.
I have the same PS3 I’ve had since 2008, and only stopped playing once my partner got my a PS5 before our daughter was born before Christmas last year. I played it right up until that point. Until the end. And it’s still going strong, and will never be thrown out. I will get it cleaned up and pass it onto my daughter. It’s historical importance in regards to gaming is quintessential. Timeless
Every year i remember the last game i played on ps3 with this serie, GH:WoR was very active until the last week. Tons of friends on my list are from GH days, a few very active on RB4 AFTER MORE THAN 10 YEARS!!
This PS3 online specifically brought a tear to my eye..... Mostly due to Journey but still this was a fantastic video and it makes me want to clean off my PS3 and try and buy a new PS3 controller and play all of the games that I have for it. Also surprise guest Terrell XD

It’s retro but plays like modern console somehow. Some games is slow and use old game engines but overall it’s pretty strong still

It really depends on the game you’re playing, like if you go beyond 2010, it feels super old. playing the ps3 version of gta 5 doesn’t tho.

Not to mention the internet browser was surprisingly good, and you had PS1 retrocompatibility (and some had PS2 as well)
Only thing i didn't like was the lack of party chat(which i thought was a big deal) and worse ports. Other than that PS5 isn't even close to PS2 and 3

This system was way ahead of its time. This is why I still have 165 physical games and multiple controllers and accessories. The entire Xbox 360 and PS3 generation are legendary libraries to have.

Just last year I was still playing MW2 and BF4 on the PS3. Both communities still active, especially Battlefield. It was a surprise but the mood was great. Casual fun, no one sweating or creating huge parties to pub stomp. Just felt nostalgic.

Tried some digital games i own through U.K account like the bundle of BF which ended in hardline Part, Unfortunately BF2 server was closed im not sure if BF3 closed as well but probably will jump for the game trophy one day!

This year I have played Call of duty World at war , Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops 2 on the PlayStation 3 and they all had great online servers with a few not a lot of hackers thankfully. 2:20 He went to heaven. Tomb Raider 2013 was amazing on the PlayStation 4 and still is with a fun online multiplayer. I'm surprised that you forgot about it. Also unlike other games Tomb Raider 2013 you can find players online fast and easy. I have but on the PlayStation 4. Also hearing him talked about the game I am grateful to have experienced Tomb Raider 2013 at It's peak and play it throughout the years both story and Online Multi-player. 24:31 I love how you just tagged out and called backup Terrell to take over. Tekken 6 and Ultra Street Fighter 4 were amazing and I still find game on the PlayStation 3. This was fun. Cool video. ^_^

Mystic the BioShock 2 multiplayer community is somewhat alive but usually Adam Grab. The last match we played was on April 27. We play around late EST.

I've never had problems getting into mw3 on the ps5.

I have the same PS3 I’ve had since 2008, and only stopped playing once my partner got my a PS5 before our daughter was born before Christmas last year. I played it right up until that point. Until the end. And it’s still going strong, and will never be thrown out. I will get it cleaned up and pass it onto my daughter. It’s historical importance in regards to gaming is quintessential. Timeless
january 2023 was the last time i was on my ps3. it still works so im gonna hook it back up today and see whats going on in cod4

Every year i remember the last game i played on ps3 with this serie, GH:WoR was very active until the last week. Tons of friends on my list are from GH days, a few very active on RB4 AFTER MORE THAN 10 YEARS!!

This PS3 online specifically brought a tear to my eye..... Mostly due to Journey but still this was a fantastic video and it makes me want to clean off my PS3 and try and buy a new PS3 controller and play all of the games that I have for it. Also surprise guest Terrell XD
