- Flashing Lights. 🚨🚨 Naked Watermaker Repairs. 🤭
Welcome to our channel.
We are now in season 7
In 2018 we left the UK to sail around the world slowly. After Brexit, a "Pandemic" and major heart surgery we are still sailing, documenting our travels and showing you what we have learned so far.
We are hoping to complete our journey, and travel right around the world even if we have had a few setbacks along the way. We will continue at our own pace and that may be fast or slow. We want to be sure not to miss anything and have stories to tell our grandchildren when we are old and grey.
Sail Safe Guys, Ant & Cid.
We do have a second channel YOUR DRONE TV It is a mix of music from classical to blues, from Opera to Punk all with stunning drone footage.

Is the dealer who sold you the incorrect chemical the same as the dealer who is now blanking you? I am guessing your total running hours do not square with the issues you have experienced?
Anchoring in busy coastal areas: Personally - anything goes as far as making your boat visible to others - always difficult especially against dense lights ashore. I also have a portable battery driven LED string that I deploy along the rails of the Bimini when chartering - makes it easier to identify the right boat to return to in a busy anchorage. Not a fan of the flashing lights.😉👍⛵️
I wish they’d put some sort of light on lobster pot marker’s, so not a bad idea but I can’t see fisherman paying out for them.
Deffo! but it will never happen... Sail Safe mate. Ant & Cid
Light pollution! There are so many lights of all types and colours in anchorages these days that it is often difficult to see a starry sky. I agree that they cause many people irritation. Tom Cunliffe has issued a video on this subject - worth a look.
Thats the problem we had. People were looking up at the sky and not down on the water where the boats were. You know Tom uses oil lamps 🤣🤣🤣 Sail Safe mate. Ant & Cid
I'd suggest they shouldn't be used as they're confusing to other mariners, an anchor light is a legal requitement and satisfies COLREG's for insurance perposes, Non flashing deck lights are a good indication as they create a sillouette of the hull.
You've obviously never been a live aboard... Night time anchorages are a mind trip.
@@SailingABSea unfortunately I spend a few months a year on my yacht, the last thing I want to see is a 'disco' yacht confusing mariner's as I enter a bay in the dark. You obviously don't sail at night.
@@pauldent7067 So if you sail into an anchorage and the is a light that at low level flashing that is not on your chart or chart plotter, not a recognized sequence and has an all round white above it how would be confused? If it's blue or alternating colours? I can see it may not be aseticly pleasing but as I said in the video rule 36? It's about keeping you safe when there are so many idiots behind the compass these days?
Catching up! Good Information!
Thanks for watching! Remember brown is burnt, Black is buggered!! LO
For me, the flasing lights are just ennoying to me. If its realy dangerous, I put the deck light on. Its just a personal reason. Cu guys🇬🇷
Thanks for the feedback. Sail Safe Guys, Ant & Cid
Strove is either a common misspelling or a manufacturer. As for the use of strobe lights on a boat it could potentially cause confusion among other boaters. A quick scan through boating forums reveals all manner of gripes about people using flashing lights. Solar lights are next to useless and can't bee seen at a distance. The biggest issue with flashing lights is that they can be confused with navigation lights which could potentially put people at great risk. The use of red and blue flashing lights may also be illegal on any vessel that is not engaged in emergency services. (Alaska DNR Section 05.25.010.) The US coast guard prohibits the use of flashing lights or revolving lights as well, except where expressly allowed by law. Air cushioned vessels display flashing yellow lights. In short, your best option is to illuminate the vessel with while lights so that it will stand out in the dark.
Good points well made. Although as I explained the EU fishing directive appears to advise them. I think Stove is meant to be strobe as V & B are next to each other on the keyboard.
I hope you get your water maker working soon. I have not come across else lights, but interesting light. Take care and have a wonderful day
Thanks, you too!
The channel Sailing Joco had no end of problems with their modular watermaker. I’m Sue you will do a lot of research before choosing another water maker 👍
There may be somthing on the horizon..........

Zackly Norman. There is now a new UK dealer but the prices are silly. Sail Safe mate. Ant & Cid
Lights are a great idea and your reasoning is sound. I wish the pots round our coast had them - would improve night navigation and reduce risks.
I totally agree!
