If you or anyone you know has an acute injury and you are looking for home remedies, then this video is for you.
In this video, Nurse Sarah discusses what the RICE method for injuries is. She talks about what each letter means and what each does to the help in the treatment of an acute injury.

Injuries are common especially during sports and exercises. Fortunately, there are a few home remedy methods you can do. One of those is the RICE Method.
The RICE method is recommended to treat mild or moderate injuries, such as sprains, strains, and bruises. If you tried the RICE method but there's no improvement, you should seek medical attention.

This is great info for people training boxing
Couple goals
Exactly coach.
My left wrist was injured but I didn’t pay attention to it for weeks, after a while I realised that my jab and left hook aren’t what they used to be. When I thought about it I realised every time I was throwing a punch I panicked because of the pain that would come from the wrist. I stopped training for a month and restarted training my left hand.
Nurse Sarah is a great boxer. Just saw the 'training from home' video. Her movements and techniques were awesome, let alone her stamina.
Yeah
@@Zedwatches did u not wrap ur hands before punching?
I'm here because of Tony Jeffries! 🙌🏻
Well thank you for the support!
Do you know what the RICE method is? Let me know in the comments below
Also if you are feeling stressed you should watch this video ua-cam.com/video/6TLG-uSrvdk/v-deo.html

Could you do a video about runners knee how to treat it at home / avoid it / all the other stuff
Coming soon! Did you watch my fighter injury one? Info works for gen injuries too!
There have been studies showing that Ice does not work in injury recovery. It stops inflammation and swelling but the reality is that swelling is a protective action of the body and also the increase in cells to the area is the body repairing itself.
On sprains I personally dont use ice and I find my recovery time is not only cut in half but my mobility is restored within a quicker time frame
Appreciate the feedback thank you!
Jacked up my hand, this is very good info
Did you watch my ice hands video?
Thank you Sarah very informative video ! Keep uploading !
Thanks so much!! I’m trying 😃👍🏻
Very good thanks 😊 🙏
Most welcome 😊
You guys are legit humble and awesoms. Love it. Thank you both
So sweet thankyou!!
This information would've been perfect 3 weeks ago when I sprained my wrist in boxing but good to know for next time.
Great thankyou! Make sure you hit subscribe so you don’t miss my next video!
This really helps 👏👏
Great to hear! Thank you!
Great info. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
great explanation
Glad you liked it
Nice video good interesting points that you
Appreciate it thanks 😊
Good info
Thanks 😊
Thanks for this. Got a wrist injury at work a few weeks back. I had an idea the wrist support i had wasn't sufficient and this has confirmed my doubts. Cheers. 👍
Glad to help! Thanks for the support also 😃👍🏻
Something to do with knees for your next vid pleaaaase.
I am quite overweight, about 370 lbs
I have lost 60 lbs in 2/3 months thanks to boxing and jump rope but I am experiencing more clicking of the knees when going up stairs
(It started when I began jumping rope with one foot at a time I believe)
any advice? anyone?
Wow that’s great congrats and keep up the good work! I think a video on mental health strength - like what you have - would be great! But yes knees are a tricky one. Support while using is helpful. Try modifying what exercises you do to help ease discomfort. Thanks for the support!
Thankyou 😊
Thanks for watching!
You and Tony both are great love you
Tq for giving information mam❤
Welcome 😊
Plz make vedio on knuckle injury recovery
Oooo I’ll have to talk with a specialist about that. Let me think about it, appreciate the comment!
A question how to carry out first aid management procedure for soft tissue injury
Is this good to prevent shin splits? I recently started running and im on my third day but my shins are starting to feel pain
Rest and ice can help. Shin spilts I find need preventative measures..... stretching!
My dad's broken his arm at work and he has a fiber glass pot on his arm and now the swelling has gone down he can just slide the pot off. He has been told to keep it elevated and keep moving his fingers.
Should he go and get another pot put on?
If he has an unstable fracture the reason for the pot is to support the bone and provide some compression. If your unsure I would go back to the place that put it on. How long has he had it on for?
@@NurseSarahJeffries two weeks, I've told him to go back to the hospital and check out your channel for videos that can help. Thanks
Thank you!! Yes your right after two weeks the cast should not be able to slide off. The bone needs extra support to heal properly.
Hi. I've got a question.
I sprained my ankle for almost a year ago, and it didn't returned to its original form, like my right ankle is bigger ( i think itwas the bone that made it bigger) than my left. What should i do with it? Is it dislocated?
It sounds like it might have been a fracture (a brake) that didn’t heal properly. What is your mobility like? Are you able to walk on it?
@@NurseSarahJeffries yeah. Pretty much okay

eating collagen

😂
He needed bit more than this I’m sure 😊
I have a question.....I learned about RICE in high school sports, and after the immediate acute injury RICE,but after that initial period I was told to stop icing it, and start using heat and to start moving it. The rationale was heat and movement promotes blood flow and thus healing. I lived by this for years! Recently a PT told me ice is always better to promote blood flow and thus healing. PT stated that after the initial vascular constriction your body responds to the localized cold by vascular dilatation. I looked for evidence of this, and could not find any.... what are your thoughts? Thank you
I’m about to record a video on this and post in the coming weeks. Very interesting topic, lots of different opinions. Next video tomorrow is on icing hands. My experience is ice in the acute phase and then heat to increase circulation once the initial healing period is over (different time for different people and injuries) - don’t forget to subscribe for the videos! Really appreciate the comment 😊🙏
I had hit my middle finger with a tennis ball 3 years ago.. as part of the treatment I was given a finger ball splint for a month but after that I did some exercises for the finger but still it is not coming back to normal.. there is a slight stiffness in the finger
You might have permanently damaged some delicate tendons in the finger. Consider a more detailed examine for a hand specialist that your dr can refer you too
1st, thank you for this video, I also am a boxer myself, I found this video from your husbands video,I have a lot of respect for the both of you, you both are awesome people.
My question is I have a broken collarbone from a bad car accident 20 days ago. Does this rice technique still apply even 3weeks after the injury, or is it something that is only effective right away after the injury occurred? I know I'm way late but I have to ask, anything that will promote me to get back to the ring faster I'll be willing to try. Also with the compression part I don't think there is a way to do that for a broken collarbone. And for elevation, I can only sleep sitting up(which has my injury above my heart anyway) in a chair , if I lay down even flat in my bed it puts a lot of pressure on my injured area, so I guess Im already elevated just by sitting up in a chair. But I think I was supposed to put ice on my injury from the beginning but 20 days later I'm asking if it's too late to start putting ice on now? Anyways if there is anything you can add or tell me I would listen with an open mind and give it a try. Thank you and God bless you and your family
Hi! Thanks so much for the support and kind words, I really appreciate it! So sorry you have that injury, it’s a sensitive area that will take time and physio to help promote ROM (range of movement) the RICE method is for the acute phase of an injury for a limb extension (ex; ankle or wrist) however if you feel pain and see swelling at times you can apply ice intermittently to help. You need to rest and limit movement to promote the bone to heal effectively so I’m afraid patience will be your biggest asset with physio after your dr has cleared you. Hope this helps *again just my opinion and not to replace medical advice from the doc 👍🏻😊*
does this method work for the knees too?
Any acute injury of a joint, the RICE method can help
What Do you recommend for shinsplints
Prevention! Stretching!
@@NurseSarahJeffries I’ve since gotten a roller, and it’s helping ( the pain is diminishing). Do they come back, or your leg gets stronger?
What is the first aid for a broken jaw?
It depends on the severity of the fracture. Minor fractures need rest and meds for the pain. More severe injuries may need surgery, it needs support with a bandage until taken to hospital.
I have a stiff finger.. there is movement but not as before.. can I get it back to normal..🙏
Did you watch my Icing hands video?
Who else Came here from tony post ?
What about shoulder pain?
Do you still need help with shoulder pain?
Coming soon!
👍👍
Good luck with this topic. You'll surely get feedback from wannabe "scientific" blokes who rely on "studies" and not actual STUDYING. I'm a Doctor of Medicine and just do facepalms everytime trainers talk about "studies". If even Medical Journals publish flawed studies that get parameters in making these studies wrong, what more in the Fitness Industry? I've seen a ton of these studies in Fitness "Journals" that will fail the needed Guidelines and Parameters of my 6th Grade Science teacher. RICE is ok. The notion of macrophages and how ice inhibits them is flawed reasoning.
And re: "studies", seeing RICE work in 15 years in Athletics is enough "studies" for me.
Thanks, yes “studies” are great. Seeing it work in practice is another 👍🏻😊
after using my critical thinking, I think this method will not be effective with cut injury ,
Are you Tony wife or sister?
Wife of 9 years
Is this from 2005? Seriously outdated information in this video.
Could you show me any study that has been done to show rice is a good thing to do after any injury....good luck.
I don't think you understood the point of this video so I'll explain it to you. She never said that RICE is the best thing to do after any injury. She just defined the RICE method, explained what it is and what it's used for, and that's acute injuries, not any injury. She precised that. And it was very informative personally before this video I only knew rice as food lol
@@yacinech501 the rice method is outdated and lacking in any form of research. It shouldn’t be used for any kind of injury acute included. There is a lack of research/studies that show the benefits of icing whereas there is an abundance of research/studies that show rice has been proven to slow recovery time and increase the risk of further injury.
If the point of the video is to spread old and outdated practice then mission accomplished.
@@timmynastics Actually there's scientific research that shows that RICE method is effective for some injuries. Yes there are other methods, but see each method has its when. Ice can be effective for some injuries and speeds recovery time and for other injuries no. Sarah is just starting her UA-cam channel, today she explained the RICE method, which again, is useful for some injuries. In future videos she can explain other methods. And we're all here to learn
I appreciate the feedback thank you. This method is currently used in many facilities but yes there are other treatment modalities around that can be tailored to an individuals needs, history etc. Which field of medicine do you work in?
Appreciate the support
Very informative 👍🏻
Cheers! Have you watched anything since?
