  • Found a local distributor and manufacture of some thermal optics. So I thought I would get in contact with them and see if they would lend me a Monocular to test out.
They were happy to loan me the 384M-15 Thermal Monocular and I managed to get it out for a run on some bunnies and foxes. For a budget price of $1499, it turned out to be quite a capable little thermal. I would recommend this for anyone looking to get into thermal spotters, but don't want to break the bank.
It has some great features, my favourite being the Laser pointer/designator that can be very helpful when trying to point out animals to your shooting buddy.
Go check out the website and definitely check out the FTV-640 camera set up.

    THIS IS A HUNTING CHANNEL:
So If you don't want to see invasive feral pest animal being shot, then I suggest that you change the channel now. As this is what my channel is all about. I don't glorify what I do but I do put my videos up for others to watch and enjoy and also to learn from.
If you choose to watch and then decide to leave abusive or negative comments, they and possibly you will be removed. Also this is not the place for political or religious beliefs, any comment relating to either of these will also be removed.

Can this monocular be mounted on a weapon or is it for observation only? 🤔

observation only ... most common scenario is thermo monocular for finding the targets and nightvision scope on the rifle for doing the business. I initially thought I'd just need a nightvision scope but very quickly found that's not practical for two main reasons and got a thermo monocular 1) field of view is way two narrow on the scope for acquiring targets 2) you'll quickly get a tired arm constantly scanning a paddock holding a rifle up on your shoulder, just not practical

Yes as Claverton has just said, used for scanning for targets. Hand held and very light unlike a scope mounted to your rifle.

I would like to have had one of these little gadgets 30 years ago. Thank you for your review of it.

Resolution for ID is next to useless.
