I feel like this really shows how much you’ve come with writing and visuals, how the narrator is interactive with the story himself and how mavis is caught off guard during a discussion with Percy. It made this all the more fruitful and I look forward to seeing more from you, regardless the genre I know I will be impressed
YES! ABSOLUTELY 100 percent agree!! The cinematography is just wonderfully eerie and really takes advantage of a foggy daylight setting, which I feel like isn't used enough and you made it really work! And yeah, wonder if we're getting a new narrator for the next story lol
I know everyone is praising the storytelling and visuals, but I have to say you nailed character as well, specifically Thomas. Him being annoyed at Percy’s teasing, to shifting it back on Percy was so fun to watch. Gotta love Thomas being a cheeky, little jerk.
Damn, man! The fact that the ghost engine doesn't have a face made its appearances all the more frightening. I especially liked how the Mavis saw the trucks moving on their own in the background as Percy was talking. And seeing how Thomas was quivering on his own... So, an incomplete telling story gets you a ghostly visit and moves you a bit, but a complete telling makes you disappear forever. So just talking about it gets you glimpses? You are one hell of a storyteller and video director. Happy Halloween!!!
Well, Thomas did tell it in full but forgot that detail. Maybe to avoid such a fate by the quarryman, you have multiple people tell parts of the story.
That last line took me by surprise. I wasn't expecting that. Take care, should you ever visit the branch line. In all seriousness, very good job here. The little touches here and there make this one of the most unique Thomas ghost stories I've seen
...well NOW I'm worried! Best be on guard tonight... In all seriousness, this was really well put together. You once again show you've got a talent for spooky writing, and I loved the fog effects (I still wanna learn how to properly make those)
“And now I’ve told you, he’ll be after me next!” (8:30) I liked that Direct Address and Third Person Narrative there! Involving the narrator in the story which can spook the viewer. I agree that these endings are one of the best ones to go with as it sort of leaves a cliff hanger on what will happen to the narrator! Also the unsuspecting appearance, the high pitched whistle and the zoom in of the engine towards the smoke box door can really unsettle more than a few people!
Absolutely brilliant! The scary back story, the shrill sound of the ghost engine, the grim and looming appearance of the ghost engine, all 100% amazing. The story and visuals are also on point. A lovely and chilling tale. Keep up the immaculate work!
I like the choice of locomotive as the quarry engine's basis, rather fitting for the quarry setting. For those who probably don't know, the quarry engine appears to be based off a Hawthorn Leslie 14" 0-4-0ST, a type of saddle tank locomotive that was built from the 1890s to the 1930s for industrial firms such collieries, steelmills, cement works and rather fittingly, quarries.
Very unsettling. But I imagine that was the point heha! First Engine 17 and now this mysterious quarry engine, you've certainly brought a new ghostly figure to the table. Element of suprise was a massive one here. Initially when I saw the trucks moving in the background I thought "Ah its probably Thomas ready to frighten Percy with them_ no? Wait never mind," And then Thomas disappearing come morning time, had me *very* unsettled! Not to mention the ending. Overall well done, the fog usage and editing mix made for a good chilly tale. The overall sense of unpredictability is what really makes this one stand out
This is one of the best ghost stories I've seen by far, and The fact that tody said that the ghost of quarry engine had killed the person who told him really makes it more frightening.
2:16 the engine reminds me of the irl inspiration of down the mine, it was a similar engine to the one used here, but the driver was definitely a trained official [no pun intended]
Riveting! And I love the ending! Never thought I'd hear you break down the forth wall. I can't to hear your next story. That way, I'll know the ghost mine engine hasn't come to take you yet!
As someone like myself who is trying to get a better at writing scary story’s like this rlly helped and now I feel like I know what goes into story like this . There some thing I wanna touch on that made me love this .. 1 - the shot where Percy try’s to reassure that the ghost isnt real to Mavis while a behind him the trucks are movie by themselves while we see Mavis’s reaction to that happening is such goo dramatic irony ,love that !! Also the shot where Thomas is the one haunted by the ghost instead of Mavis or Percy is good because it kinda gives this a feeling that this could be a actual Thomas episode in the show where the bad guy or mean person gets there karma which I love 🙌🙌 Overall such an amazing special and definitely one of the best Halloween specials to come out this year! 🎃🤩🥰
Gosh, now that is scary! The premise does remind me a bit of Rusty & the Boulder and Narrow Gauge's Six Lovely Tenders, only this is much darker and mysterious! The shot of the engine about to crash into Thomas and the ending part really caught me off guard.
And that's why you should never take ghost stories lightly. Seriously though, I love watching this video. I don't know how many times I have been doing so, but I will say that it's my favourite on your channel so far.
Coming a long way with writing and filming, you’re really an expert with these stories. I find myself watching ghost stories a treat for me, wherever that man who took control is, I guarantee he’s learned his lesson. I kinda feel this story seems to loosely based on Scaredy Engines from series 6, because of Thomas’ teasing towards Percy, and Thomas hiding in the shed, this time in the sidings. And not forgetting references from Ghost Train and Woolly Bear.
first engine 17 and now the quarry engine, whatever will haunt you next? this was a great story, it was well written, hope to see more ghostly stories like this in the future, maybe even a visit from engine 17..
Moral of the Story: Never speak of the Quarry Engine EVER! Anyways, excellent work as always David! From the fog effects to the choice of music, this was a blast from start to finish. Also, I love that ending where you acknowledged that because you spoke of the old quarry engine, it'll be after you next! Cheers and keep up the great work man!
Brilliant work, my friend! Great story, characters on point, music well chosen, brilliant narration, atmosphere is effective and the jumpscares are used very well along with some subtle touches like the trucks and the quarry engine being faceless. Be proud, my friend. I'm certain The Good Reverend would be too.
An excellent story. You really sweat the details brilliantly! Feel sorry for Thomas though. As much as it served him right for not heeding Toby's advice, he wouldn't have done so if Percy had stopped teasing him. And now he'll have to eat his own words about Thomas seeing an actual ghost.
This is certainly a spooky story. Although, I think the version made by Shunter Productions is scarier, only because of the face on the ghost engine. All the same, amazing work
There are three words to describe this story... I LOVE IT!!! I absolutely love the well written dialogue of the story and the delivery of the ending was pure genius! Now I know that you are one of those people who inspired me to make my own Thomas ghost stories! Thank you for brining out the most haunting ghost story in Thomas fashion, yet! Happy Halloween! 🎃
I learned a new word today thanks to this video: tedium. I've honestly never heard it before. So it means monotony. Poor Thomas. The teasing never stopped. Great story by the way!
All I can image for a funny clip of this is when the ghost at thomas he just beats him up and tells him if he ever tell the full story again he will break his wheels. To put it simply the ghost beats up thomas.
This was amazing and original. Very much reminiscent of classic “Shunter production” horror stories but with a unique twist, amazing stuff mate. Can’t wait to see what you make next
The story was great, and legend was even cooler! The fact that the quarryman did something like this was horrible, I hope that engine got his revenge already. Otherwise we're screwed
I’ve known myself to be brave one who likes to tempt danger and who likes to be a person who wants to feel adrenaline but after hearing this story I think my blood ran cold and I think I’m more weary of the supernatural now more than ever but when you do another ghost story do one with about a pack of ghost black wolves with red eyes
Happy Halloween to you first my friend and wow what a story! I am glad your saving your best ghost story ideas rather than giving them away. It shows how far you have come in a short time, really enjoyed this one! my fav scene had to be when Percy was talking and Mavis was watching the trucks that was well done! I hope you will be safe btw XD since you will be getting a visit haha that was unexpected. I honestly thought something happened to Thomas then really enjoyed that scene when he wakes up hearing a steam engine approach. Again a fantastic ghost story my friend and one I am glad you saved for yourself. One day... one day I shall get back into video making and hoping to do something for halloween.
"And now I've told you...he'll be after me next." BEST LINE IN THE VIDEO.
Yes
And a memorable one, too.
😂😂😂
Good luck
Much like how the Reverend would have worded the ending if he wrote it
Percy: “Are you sure Mavis that there isn’t a ghost?”
*A line of trucks are moving on their own behind him*
I kind of laughed at that. At first I thought it was Thomas just pushing them to give Percy a scare
Great writing
Mavis is a smart engine. She knows when to keep her mouth shut. Unlike Thomas, he is lucky to be a engine.
Mavis be like: 👁️👄👁️
@@rmstitanic89a ghost train pushing trucks and mavis saw it at 3:49 so Thomas’s story is true
“..And now I’ve told you, he’ll be after *me* next.” That fourth wall break at the end makes it more serial
I love how nonchalant the narrator was about saying he was next. he wasn’t inherently scared just slightly inconvenienced in a way 🤣
The narrator is the highest power. He'd provably tell it to shove off lol
DCG12B is a god and cannot die
5:56 I can just hear Timothy’s voice coming from the fog, god I have I chills from typing this
Thomas: Tells story
Ghost engine: Who dares summon me
Gordon: get out of my way!!!
I feel like this really shows how much you’ve come with writing and visuals, how the narrator is interactive with the story himself and how mavis is caught off guard during a discussion with Percy. And the fact that the narrator tell the story that he knew he done goofed
I know everyone is praising the storytelling and visuals, but I have to say you nailed character as well, specifically Thomas. Him being annoyed at Percy’s teasing, to shifting it back on Percy was so fun to watch. Gotta love Thomas being a cheeky, little jerk.
that scene when the ghost charges out of the mine and towards thomas like it was a guided missile was terrifying, well done
Damn, man! The fact that the ghost engine doesn't have a face made its appearances all the more frightening. I especially liked how the Mavis saw the trucks moving on their own in the background as Percy was talking. And seeing how Thomas was quivering on his own...

Well, Thomas did tell it in full but forgot that detail. Maybe to avoid such a fate by the quarryman, you have multiple people tell parts of the story.
Very original having the narrator be haunted by the story he told, I like it
"What's the worst that could happen?"
the next day..
*_traumatized_*
Seeing Thomas quivering in the corner with fright; was pretty unnerving 😨
That last line took me by surprise. I wasn't expecting that. Take care, should you ever visit the branch line.
In all seriousness, very good job here. The little touches here and there make this one of the most unique Thomas ghost stories I've seen
THAT JUMPSCARE AT THE END NEARLY GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK LOL!
What jumpscare!?
Me too
...well NOW I'm worried! Best be on guard tonight...
In all seriousness, this was really well put together. You once again show you've got a talent for spooky writing, and I loved the fog effects (I still wanna learn how to properly make those)

I like the shaking with Thomas and that ending was clever. "And now I've told you, he'll be after me next". That very clever.
I like the choice of locomotive as the quarry engine's basis, rather fitting for the quarry setting. Do you mean Shed 17 cause I can’t find any videos with Engine 17?
@@simpleyetcomplex ua-cam.com/video/KAr2LkKW2X8/v-deo.html here you go! :)
@@simpleyetcomplex It's an episode from dcg12b's series: JIMMY THE JINTY.
Holy *shit* was that good! I especially loved how the story sort of had an urban legend vibe to it. Like Candyman, or Bloody Mary.
“Hell be after me next”
_me sits quietly with a holy cross in hand_ you sure bout that
This is one of the best ghost stories I've seen by far, and The fact that tody said that the ghost of quarry engine had killed the person who told him really makes it more frightening.
Thomas when he sees the ghost engine racing towards him:
“Somebody! Somebody! SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!”

2:16 the engine reminds me of the irl inspiration of down the mine, it was a similar engine to the one used here, but the driver was definitely a trained official [no pun intended]
This is one of the best ghost stories I've have ever seen. It's supernatural in a realistic way. I truly love it! Well done, David!
My boi, your ghost stories are FIRE!!!! I mean, all your stories are good, but your ghost stories are ALWAYS on point.
Jesus this one was creepy.
Like, the music and visuals made this feel like a real episode. The style, everything…
Excellent job.
Damn this made me both chuckle and slightly on edge. The ending was superb. Damnit why did I watch this at night?
was not expecting the ending, great work! kudos to you!
Delightfully spooky; that ending I admit I didn't see coming.
Top work as ever. :)
I like the detail of Mavis following those trucks with her eyes at 3:45.

RIP DCG12B Trainz. You will be missed :(
It wasn’t a joke???

You know it’s gonna be creepy when the Chinese dragon theme plays! 😱 Great storytelling!
Not even the narrator is safe from the quarry engine
Love this and "Percy and The Ballast Trucks".
first engine 17 and now the quarry engine, whatever will haunt you next?
this was a great story, it was well written, hope to see more ghostly stories like this in the future, maybe even a visit from engine 17..
You got a link to engine 17?
its on his other channel with real life models instead of using trainz
Engine 17 is garbage. This story was much better.
"And now I've told you, He'll be after me next"
this is like a alternative version of duncan gets spooked
That last line was just chilling

Christ that Peckett whistle gave me the shivers

I hope they eventually warned Percy not to tell the story to anyone lest he suffer the same fate as Thomas.

Holy moly! This has got to be one of the ghost stories I’ve ever seen, Amazing job! Happy Halloween!🎃
Where did that faceless pug come from?
This is amazing, the scene of Thomas and the ghost was brilliant
Well it was in fact it was Thomas’s own fault for telling that story to Percy
I’m now scared of steam locos because of this.
That was an awesome ghost story, well done.
I feel bad for train, that man should pay for what he's done, it's unfair.
This was amazing and original. Very much reminiscent of classic “Shunter production” horror stories but with a unique twist, amazing stuff mate. Can’t wait to see what you make next
Not sure it's original as the exact same story is on another channel.
Great stuff, an excellent ghost story. Keep it up!
This is incredible! Fantastic job
Agreed
The story was great, and legend was even cooler! The fact that the quarryman did something like this was horrible, I hope that engine got his revenge already. Otherwise we're screwed

The Sudrian version of "speaking of the devil".
