  • Hey everyone, welcome to my channel, I'm Mey :)
    Can print on demand really be your full time job? Can you make a full time living from print on demand?
    I think that the answer to that first starts with "what is a full time living" for you ??
    I have met a lot of people who do print on demand in the past year living in Bansko, Bulgaria, and have asked 3 people 5 questions about their print on demand journey.
    What do you sell and on which print on demand platform?
    How much time have you been doing this and how much time do you spend on print on demand every day/week?
    How much money do you make now from print on demand?
    How do you market your print on demand?
    And, looking back, knowing what you know now, what would you have done differently ?
    Would love for you to join me for this video, looking at these 3 print on demand stories, and hearing maybe a different way for you to look at your own print on demand journey!

    "full time living" is SOOOOO vastly different for everyone depending on where they live and their family situation. I live in CA, our rent alone is over $3000/mo. So everyone needs to calculate for themselves how much THEY would need to make a month to cover their expenses. 270 euros/mo seems crazy haha! But I grew up in Eastern Europe and have no desire to go back :P
    Back in 2012 I started selling hand made things on Etsy and was able to quit my then job after about 6 months. You just need to figure out what to sell and focus on that.

    Thank you for the inspiration Mey! I always appreciate how you keep things real and do not over promise. I laughed so hard when you went on a mini rant about the Zazzle mother and daughter coaching team on UA-cam. I love that they say silly things about people stilling their designs and how they make a living off the designs all while they charge over $4k for their programs. Thank you for being you and remaining honest.

    Hey Mey, thank you for sharing these story examples and all the extra info about cost of living. I'm looking into entering POD as a way to create multiple streams of passive income and a brand, all while having the joy of seeing my art printed on actual products and not waiting to constantly submit work to be represented by an agency that would get me constant projects. Your videos are very useful, down to earth, inspirational and resonating.

    Your video is not boring at all. It’s packed with so much valuable information. I only thought about selling on Etsy not the other platforms. What I took away from this video is it takes work, time and effort to do POD. You should stick to one niche per store, like greeting cards in one store. Mugs in another ect. I hope I understood that right, your friend was selling a lot of different items in her shop and wasn’t growing and selling. Once she started getting into a niche (s) that’s when her business took off. I’m new to your channel and not sure if I should start from the very beginning of your channel or look for videos that you may have changed your mind about something. It can be overwhelming at times for a newbie. No matter where I start with your videos. I’ve watch enough to know your sincere, your a beautiful and amazing woman. Your heart is truly in helping other people. Sorry this is so long, just wanted to show my appreciation, talk about what I learned and tell you your awesome!

      Thanks, and happy you liked the video... i didn't think people would like it without my friends agreeing to go public, as so many people love those videos of "this shirt made 78,ooo USD" which are mostly total bull, with the fact that that's not shirt earnings after the price and commissions removed, and also a lot of them are of people who spent thousands on FB marketing, and maybe even lost money on that shirt...
      So yeah, realistic is the way to go :)

But I also realized as I'm watching this video, I love your accent and voice as well as your hands. Your hands are beautiful, kind of reminds me of DaVinci's angels, sigh. Anyhow, I've subscribed and watched (and thumbs up a few videos) but didn't think I'd commented. Thank you! The stories were relatable to me and the "full time living" was as well. I'm not aiming for a full time living since my bills are too high. But I want to equal a part time job, for now at least. So learning people actually do make $1000 or more USD and the mistakes they made at first, is very encouraging. That amount would be perfect for me for now. This video is helping me formulate a plan since I have the "want to do it all all at once" syndrome. lol.

    Is interesting to know there are many ways to success. What I personally feel for all these people leading to their success maybe is they find what they like to do, and being a creative person, each project is like new things for them. New thing satisfied them, not commitment or responsibility or repetitive routine or secure life..

If something is not working then change it, it’s yours!! I do have a question, I am setting up payhip for my planner digital download shop. I use creative Fabrica quite a bit. They have commercial license included, it is alright for me to create sticker kits using these products?? Hi Mey, this was a great video, infact all of your videos are very informative & yes always great, i was wondering about something, you said that the people you interviewed, didn't want to be shown on UA-cam, they didn't want their ideas copied, although i certainly can't blame them, but once they have their product ideas up online, they'll get seen by many people, won't they still be able to be copied somehow?, I mean i make jewelry & crafts, i've made up many different types of ideas, once online, i'd have to bet that some people out there, are more than likely going to copy my ideas, i don't really think that there's anything that people can do about it, is there?

    • @MeyTribe
      @MeyTribe  2 роки тому +2

      It's not just about being copied, it's also about not wanting to be a face on UA-cam, and for 2 of them- a face at all, as they are not people who like to be known. And yes, anything out there can be copied, but def I can tell you that if it's out-there in a video about POD it would be copied more, and even harassed a bit (with messages to these websites, and constant content theft from social media and even blogs...)

    BTW what about health insurance and health care when you travel that much, and especially if you have health issues?

    • @MeyTribe
      @MeyTribe  2 роки тому +2

      When I started traveling I had health insurance. In 2018 my health insurance expired while I was in Thailand. Funnily enough I broke 2 toes in my left foot 3 days after. The total bill for that, no appointment at a doctor + no insurance+ all the meds and bandages for 8 days- was about 3 days of my insurance cost LOL (and about 10% of what i would have paid for just the equipment in my country)
      Once my health got a bit worse I realized that there is no company that will actually insure me, the minimal offer I got was 20$ a day, and won't cover anything that's already wrong with me- which is in the eyes of insurance- nothing.
      I traveled a lot after without health insurance, and again- that's my experience, not any recommendation, as each person should do their own math.
      Now I am covered by a private insurance company in Bulgaria, as a part of my residency.

      @@MeyTribe Thank you for this. Was joking. Watching your videos made me fall head over heels in love with Zazzle.
      One issue I have when designing, before I press the 'sell It' button, I can't figure out how to get back to my design if I want to change something..
      Thank you so much for all you do. Really do appreciate all your input!

    Which P.O.D. platform prints would include freedom of speech? Which got my question deleted here a minute ago for only vague topics mentioned?

    • @MeyTribe
      @MeyTribe  2 роки тому +2

      I'm not sure what question you mean was deleted, cause I can see the other longer comment available with all these topics, it's not deleted on my end. Was gonna reply to that one but then I saw this newer one from you...
      Print on demand marketplaces are owned by someone else. You have 0 freedom of speech when you're on someone else's platform. The same way that I can decide to kick out of my apartment anyone I want, without giving any reason, as it's MY property.
      If you want freedom of speech- you'll have it when it's YOUR property, meaning your own website, and possibly not even on Shopify.
      As for creating a new group, I honestly don't have time to manage 2 groups, i don't know the second site that you mentioned, and one of the reasons why I feel comfortable letting people in to the FB group is cause I can see that they are real people based on FB profiles. As I don't want any spammers or scams going on there.
      I get that you're into posting controversial things, and if that's your desired niche- who am I to give my opinion? If you're passionate about that, and do that tastefully, providing the anti opinion, without calling to harm anyone- go ahead. But those items could only be "safe from ban" on your own property, your own shop. And if they are that controversial they might be very hard to market- as the mainstream marketing platforms might not allow them.
      As for full freedom of speech on FB groups.... Our doesn't have that either. I flat out disapprove people, or kick them out when bad comments are being made. As I do not one anyone feeling bad under my group (which is basically FB's group, not mine LOL )
      Sorry if my answer wasn't exactly what you thought I would say, but the reality is that selling on other people's platforms- you must obey by their rules. It is THEIR property.

    Ik people who think digital nomads are grifters. By definition. One of them was a digital nomad lol

    • @MeyTribe
      @MeyTribe  2 роки тому +1

      I'm "technically" a digital nomad. I had been traveling with my business since 2016.
      I know nomads who start nomading to enjoy freedom, working "9-5" remote jobs and make over $15K a month.
      I also know some who wanted to start an online business, knowing it would take them time to see value, and also knowing they will never reach it with their stressful jobs, so they quit- to move to a cheaper country to better educate themselves on the skills they need and fully invest their time in this business.
      I personally started back in 2016 cause I started my business in 2015, since my condition didn't allow me to have a normal job... and I was struggling with the living costs and stress of my own country. Being a nomad allowed me to have a good life with the same amount that in Israel I was barely living.
      Last year, when I moved to Bulgaria, I leveraged being here to fully invest ALL my time on Building this channel for several months, to the point that if I wanna work 2 days a week, or even stop for 2-3 weeks, that won't hurt my living here, and so I could focus on my health- and selling my art, instead of years of just selling "cool" designs on RB. (one of the reasons why I was also able to shut down my RB store, that was making me money, but I disliked that company)
      Now, I am still here, and able to save money, rest, donate money, and live a good life, due to the low cost of living.
      Though, it's weird hearing the word grifters, as even the nomads I met that make minimum "salaries" in their countries- still live like kings in various other countries. I went from renting a room in an apartment with 4 other people, trying to think what can I eat everyday without finishing the month with no food, to living in a huge gated complex, in a 44 stories building, with a private pool, security guards, and a private mall. Living in Bangkok in a condo that costs Thai's 120% of minimum wage at least.
      But I see your point :)
      PS- all 3 of them are digital nomads (that's how we met:))

    Would you consider adding another platform to form a group on? MeWe has an actual privacy document. Rumble is very popular as an alternative to censored platforms like Facebook,which many people find too invasive and there are others too. I would enjoy communicating with you on a platform that respects the right to free speech. Speaking of which would you speak about which P.O.D. platform would show an alternative type of print? Such as an anti vaxx typography T-shirt or an anti Faucci statement? I wouldn’t even try that on Amazon- so any ideas which platform would print protest 🪧 type Tee shirts instead of ban the protest storefront from their platform?-Freedom of speech advocate looking for a platform…
