Couldn't agree more. While the gen 1 DP's certainly wouldn't be accused of being easy on the eyes the refinement turned them into something special. An inexpensive chassis, lack of computer controlled devices, drive aid's, and controlled use of exotic materials made for series where the best could thrive. Instead of whoever has the most money to throw at the car wins. Not to forget 5 liter, cross plane American V-8's. The music coming out of the tail pipes is rairly duplicated these days.
The side exit on these Corvette DP's was amazing. I even reached out to a team to ask why they sounded so different, and that's when I found out it was a result of the side exit versus the rear exit. And even when the Cadillac DPI came into play, their first year was side exit and super loud with the 6.6L. but then they changed it, and it went back to sounding like the DP's of the time around 2009-ish. Glad you got to hear them again! Get your butt up to Mid Ohio this year!
The Caddy DPi always had a rear facing exhaust from the start. It was a 6.2L, same motor as right now- but the current motor is sleeved to reduce displacement to 5.5L per IMSA’s request make the cars easier to balance and to reduce the torque advantage.
of my 19 year existence. I've been a huge corvette fan. I love the IMSA races with the GT3 Zo6. But how did this slip my sight!! I NEVER KNEW THIS BEAUTY EXSISTED
I Love The Cadillac In IMSA & They Are Awesome , But This Was The Car That Attention In IMSA Was This Corvette Race By Action Express & The Spirit Of Florida Corvette This Is A Beautiful Car And The Sound OMG 😱 Yup This Corvette Was My Introduction To IMSA ( From A Chevy / Cadillac Fan ) 🏁🏁🏁🏆🏆🏆👍✌️
I miss these racecars. Every year the racecars get more and more quiet. The new C8R has lost it's soul. No longer the loud brutish, unapologetically American racecar but now just a racecar like any other.
I remember vividly the how these cars would shake ground at 180 mph when I would eat lunch at my car just inside the back straight at road atlanta. Only way to get the same feeling now is at a top fuel event or nascar at talledega or daytona.
BY FAR the best prototype to ever exist! Gorgeous and that sound is a bonafide eargasm
Of this era yes, best of all time has to be the Porsche 917K of the Ferrari 512 S

That sound from these older DP’s is something else ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I remember first seeing these and feeling their sound on my chest!

Best soundings Of Daytona Prototypes 👌 miss those Eargasmic V8’s
Thats how the C8R supposed to sound, but there is always a head engineer with a huge ego who got no taste and ruin everything.
Awww yes the Spirit of Daytona corvette dp. That was my favorite during that era. Love seeing her back
I’m like sgt. Gordan from Batman Begins, I’m like “I’ve gotta get me one of those!”
That is the most beautiful sound my eyes have heard. Watched them at Daytona, fantastic. I would drive that to work.
The meanest DP ever produced

GM needs to race at WEC in Hyperclass HY with this type of Corvette.
Hearing this beast roaring at Le Mans.. 👌
Best engine sounding car
The sweet sounds of Joy
I like the corvette dp design

Sounds like a NASCAR engine. Love it. 😊
That rumble when started up
Can I get one of these beauties for the school run? 😁
Love it!!
This was one mean, badass machine. Unlike those modern sissy DPIs.
The Cadillac DPi roars
I wanna see these running with today’s dpi’s 😳
You need noise-cancelling headphones to even look at this thing
love it
So good
Hubba Hubba woohoo sexy CHEVY CORVETTE
Boy. I spent the money on a Corvette I'd want a reverse gear!
That still ain't a bad looking car.
About the only decent looking DP
@@u-wot-n8The Chip Ganassi Mk XXVI looked very similar to the 'Vette.
almost looks like an LMP car
Because it is an LMP, the base chassis is the Delara LMP2
@@PlasmAnime247 no it isn’t, this is a DP, not a DPi
You need to rename your page to Danky Turtle
Nice.
😍😍😍😍😍
Don’t know it’s called a prototype. To me just seems like a modern corvette version of a GT1 car. Aka Mercedes CLK GTR. A super car made for racing
In a way it is. Makes me wonder how it would go up against a GT1 like the CLK or Porsche.
この頃は思いもしなかったんだろうな、市販車のコルベットがmrになるなんて...!
thats a mclaren with corvette headlights and tail lights
👍👍👍👌
they should sell this corvette and throw the new one in the garbage
