Thank you guy! After seminars, loads of tutorials, two years of working as a jewelry designer (with success, too), I can't believe I didn't know _orient. I was going for move->rotate->scale... Great tutorial, btw! Clean audio, direct, efficient.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I am using polygonal modeling for 12 years, but I just bought cnc wood carving machine, and rhino is much faster to do things for wood carving. Can`t wait to make something!
thanks this was a really great video. After sketching up a curve you then turnned on gumball which was at the end of the curve. When I turn on gumball its always in the middle...how do you get it to attach to the end of the curve?
You referred to something as your new favorite viewing mode, and I saw that you called up something called EGhosted - I'm not finding any information about that mode. Can you clue me in?
You can download my Rhino settings (or scripts) from my GitHub repo. Make sure to read the readme because there are some things you will not want to import. github.com/EricM81/RhinoShare/blob/main/Settings/R7Defaults.ini
Very good and clear explanation. Thanks. For me these videos mostly teach me new ways of approaching techniques to draw. I'm always taking huge detours and end up drawing something that doesn't look exactly how I planned it. But the last few days I've been digging in deeper and deeper and since I've discovered how the History option works yesterday a whole new world opened up to me! Orient with 3D-scale seems to be something I needed a lot on previous projects, very nice to see how it works. You can do almost everything in Rhino without plugins. Currently I'm using the beta version on Mac, I can only hope that they finish it soon so I can use the full functionality :)
That is a wonderful example of what Rhino alone can do! Is your darker background, green Command letters, and other interface aesthetics just Rhino? Or is that because you have some other programs plugged in? Also, what renderer made that nice gold? Thanks!
Thanks a lot! very much useful tutorial - I really learned a lot! just one small question - could you kindly advise on how to get this dark gray and neon green visual interface! highly appreciate your answer! best regards!
Can you please share how you mirrored things so quickly and how you got the gumball relocation hot key? I'm new to Rhino and those were two things that take a while for me where you breezed through them. Thank you. Great tutorial btw.
+Logan Armagost - One way is to type "Mirror" in whole or in part (Commands), and with the Osnaps on, select the first pivot point, then shift constrain the centerline. I also had trouble with the "hot key" idea for the Gumball multitool, but as an alternative you can just type "RelocateGumball" one time, then you can grab it quick from the right click menu thereafter. HTH. Nice tutorial Eric - best I've seen so far. Thanks.
@@dragonshoarddesign3094 whatever that jewelry tab was, I want using it. I've tried many plugins since leaving matrix and rhino 4, and they've all been terrible. I hear the same things about panther. It's expensive and it only works some of the time making it useless. That's why all the jewelry training centers no longer teach with plugins. The best thing you can do is upgrade to rhino 7 and learn rhino.
I think I started with a copy of Ghosted mode. Basically make all surface seams black, surfaces a transparent blue, curves a bright orange, and naked edges a bright purplish pink.
Hey Eric. great video. I made a surface using Sweep2. I edit a cross section but the surface doesn't update. is there a setting to have a live update or do I have to apply a new Sweep2 every time I tweak something? thanks.
You need to turn on "Always Record History". If it's already on, then you are 'breaking' history somehow (editing the sweep2 srf directly instead of editing the parent crvs).
plz would like to tell me what are you using normal mouse or somthing to view your model like orbit but i can see that is so smooth are using mouse ! >>>

+Eric Paul Marvets ooh ok I see! I think I'll trust you and I'll don't buy it... last thing, do you know rhinojewel? is cheaper than rhinogold and I saw some interesting tools on it like the incremental array on surface... what you think?

where i can download jewelerry tools for this programm? Thanks!
Hi,
I used to be a member on 3dcadjewelry.com, but now I can't access anything or contact the admins to renew my membership.
What can I do?
Thanks
I’m assuming this is rhinogold? For 7 years this software is pretty good. Great video too
Just plain old Rhino. I don't use any of the jewelry plugins (even though I own most of them).
Hi, so the the curves weren't joined at the end points?
I know this old, but where do I get that jewelry tab? I have rhino 6.
Which tab? That was rhino 5 and a lot of plugins did not make it to 6

I wanted to ask you how did you change your interface it's really cool
Hello eric, how i can have JEWELLERY setting like yours??
I try to put settings in the forum posts that go with a video: discourse.mcneel.com/t/quick-tip-for-making-ribbons/113580
Fantastic tutorial, thanks for that.
Could you be so kind as to share that display mode?
Thanks very useful.

thanks but I meant the viewport display mode.

Do you have some sort of plugging for orbiting, it's different to mine

How can you rotate and move like that?
How do you have such smooth movement when looking around the work area. It's seems so smooth and natural. Almost like it's an animation.
