I haven't strapped my bike onto my car in years. And my straps aren't labeled. But your video really helped me. I need to replace my rack at some point, but for now it works.

i have a 2 bike rack. I'm a downhill rider, so my downhill bike (an NS Fuzz) is quite big, and therefore is all that fits on the rack. However, it fits perfectly! i mount the bike with one rack arm underneath the downtube, near the fork, and the other through the seatpost triangle.

Can you fit the big size bike? What if bike ends up being wider than a car, would cops fine you?

There are three padded bars... I understand how 2 are used, what do you do with the third? Confusing....

One small i problem I have with this rack is my bike does not have a horizontal top bar…. So it doesn’t fit well if safely at all. Any suggestions?

Just bought a Bell 2-bike trunk rack and it only came with the upper & lower straps. There was no side straps and the book mentioned the side straps. I was wondering is it because I have the 2-bike rack instead of the 3-bike rack?

You will have to purchase a horizontal bar that attaches to the stem and seat post. Just search for "top tube adapter" on Amazon or search engine.

Granite Peak Roadmaster 26" bikes won't fit on these properly. The top bar is too short length-wise.
The rear of the bike must be supported behind the saddle shaft.

+doreen steinhauser You would need a bike adaptor bar, which adds a top tube to the bike. They have one at Walmart:

If anyone follows these instructions, and doesn’t take additional steps, the bike will be in pieces after a short drive. There’s nothing keeping the bike from swinging forward and backward.
Also, the word “locate” - used twice in this “instructional” video ( as in “all you want to do is locate the bicycle”) is incorrect. “Position “ or even “place” is the word he’s looking for. He’s conflating “locate” with “location”.

@homegrownbuddy - I wholeheartedly agree with you on this. It's virtually impossible to use this and NOT get a scratch on the trunk of your vehicle. It's useless Walmart garbage that is made of the most inferior products. I guess if you have a cheap bike and a cheap car, it's okay to use. But I would not recommend this product to anyone.

When you're white, this is not a problem at all. When you are ethnic, this becomes reason enough for an officer to pull you over and harass you about bullshyt. They "may" give you a ticket, but if you challenge the ticket in court it will be thrown out. They are hoping you just pay it and forget it. I was pulled over for having a wing on my car. The officer told me "he couldn't see my eyes through the back window because of the wing" I told him thats bullshit. He gave me the ticket... I went to court after I also RESEARCHED IT and told the prosecutor what I found and the ticket was immediately thrown out. And yes, I saw the same officer again on the highway and he pulled me over AGAIN and asked said "I recognize you... didn't I give you a ticket for that wing? I said "yes". he said whatever happened to that? I told him it was a BS ticket and I got it dismissed.
