- This short video demonstrates the attachment of a Yakima bicycle carrier on the back of a 2007 Toyota Yaris.
A couple of tips:
Clean the car first, and make sure there's no debris trapped under the pads before you attach the carrier; the paint will be scratched visibly by dirt or gravel.
Tighten the straps by pulling the strap towards the buckle with one hand while simultaneously pulling the free end tight with your other hand. This leads to a much tighter strapping.
Stop after a mile of driving and tighten the straps again. They ALWAYS loosen from the weight of the whole assembly settling into place. Once tightened a second time, you are usually good to go for hundreds of miles.
Remember that the bike rack is not secured to the car with any sort of lock. A thief could easily remove the whole assembly and take the rack off the trunk, along with your bicycle[s] if you have left them mounted. Take care to prevent this.
The rack and bicycles[s] will not substantially obstruct your view of the road or of traffic, nor will your lights be blocked from view. However, it's a good idea to double-check that the area is clear before backing.

If your car has a spoiler I would put the straps under the spoiler not over it. If the rack shifts it could cause damage to the spoiler. Read the bike rack manual prior to installing it on your vehicle. It should tell you the same thing. Good luck and have fun riding!
Yea I know what you mean. But the it won't go under the spoiler. I tried it and it was a small gap between the trunk and spoiler for the clip to fit.

I used these for 2 mountainbikes trek 19inch frames they are surprisingly reliable used them for 2 years not a single issue so far.

How do you put the bike
Does it magnetically strap-on or do you have to plug it into the inside of the trunk from the outside using the crevice

It fits SUV too but have to adjust the bars. Use the clips to secure

almost any rack should be fine. but the thing is with women’s bikes u may need an adapter bar. since our bikes top bars are at an angle. the adapter bar is a straight horizontal bar u connect on the bike. good luck! enjoy your ride!

typically this model would work for most if not all cars. However, if you drive a different type of vehicle, like a van, the method may different. Either that or you may need to purchase a different kind. The site you buy it from should be able to tell you what type of vehicles it works on.
How do you put the bikes on there? I have an older rack with 2 hooks on each side.
Can I ask how do you stop the bikes from sliding on the poles?

How do you do it on a regular sedan trunk? The only way I could get mine to fit in my volvo 240 was to have one of the pads on the top of the trunk and one right under the lock/trunk button but now the clips wont tighten all the way anywhere I put them

Jessica: Yes it would, but there are differences in each bike rack model. This is just one model, typical of some, installed on a typical car trunk.

Judy Jackson I just bought the same rack. After a long search, this is what I found. Looks like you have to use bungee cords to tie the bicycle on the Little Joe model. Look at Step 30 in the photo of the Instructions. rackboys.com/assets/pdf/SuperJoe2-3%20Little%20Joe3.pdf
Mohamed, most bike racks can be used on all cars, as far I know.
i'm thinking about searching for a similar tool that can be installed on public transportation vehicles (microbus here in egypt) while being able to be held on the bicycle it self
but how subject the icycles without a holder ?
Jose Luis Pujol on this model you strap bicycles to the bars with bungee cords or adjustable straps, directly. You can use foam or rubber pads to keep the bicycles from scratching each other, and from bumping into the car.
It is not very secure.

I have a white car I'm worried the paint is going to get messed up, does this happen??
I duct taped the hooks so they have a little cushion so it’s not metal on metal contact

When arrived it was very simple to adjust and put together. I also added spike tape over the metal hooks before securing and tightening the straps, and no scratches. I also purchased the top bar made by the same company so that my cruiser sits straight on the rack without having to turn upside down. Extra bungee cords are used to secure the front wheel from flapping and even piece of mind knowing your bike is secure. Definitely recommend...
I don't think the bike rack will mark up your car. The clips at the end of the straps might scratch the trunk lid if they are not plastic-covered or something.
BUT: Don't put the bike rack on a dirty car! The dirt will get ground into the finish, and ruin your paint.

I keep that pain in the ass bike rack on for 1 reason. Ive no one to help re attach in the event u break it.. or I just can't figure it out. Now I changed how I live. Because no son near to help me. Thats manipulating for your own sake. And it cost ya.
