Enjoyed all the commentaries that you shared. I just recently picked one up, a Stumpjumper 2021 160 front and back with DVO suspension front and back. I'm blown away of how smooth the chunder feels on it and how supple the drops land. Definately a firm believer on suspension upgrades.
A lot has changed since that review! I watched the LostCo video on Grip2 setup and it was a game changer. I just did the mullet conversion and the bike is now super fun and playful!
Got the same bike. Excited to get out! I put it in the steepest setting for normal trail riding. I know this isn’t the point of your video but how is navigating your trails and new trails with your bolt? I started using trailforks but I’m pulling my phone out every 30 seconds to know where to go! I’m guessing this is a familiar trail to you? I’m looking at upgrading to the new bolt as apparently it has trailforks compatibility..I just don’t know my trails in the area I moved to.
I haven’t touched the geo settings on the bike as I’ve come to the conclusion I don’t like my suspension settings. My previous Stumpy had a Lyrik/super deluxe, so this is a different animal. I found a great video from The Lost Co. regarding setup and will work on that this weekend. The bolt is good, but navigation is pretty basic. Yes, those are my home trails, so I don’t need help. I like that the Bolt is super easy to use, but I think Garmin gives you more options. Perhaps a 530 + if I had to do it again. I think Trailforks is compatible with Garmin? If so, that would be slick!
Hey Brian, I shot that video at Woodstock riding the trails directly behind the inn. On Strava “this trains got to run today”, “wall trail”. “Redonkadonk”. Some of the best stuff in Patapsco!
I have the same bike, so far Im not 100 percent loving it. The rear 19t is terrible and had to order a DT Swiss 54t ratchet kit. Hate the brakes, so I ordered XTR front and rear and my son can have the scram's. I think Im also going to get the XT shifters.... I find it tuff to ride in tight technical, but I was use to 27.5, so Ill have to give the 29's a bit
Agree on the wheels, which is why I put better ones at purchase. I like the Codes well enough to not be interested in a change. I do wish I swapped the 2.3 Butcher with a 2.6 and may still do that. It’s also taken weeks to dial the suspension in, but damn it’s good now that I have it on point.
Thanks! This is my 3rd Stumpjumper (2019 Expert, 2020 Downieville), so I already love them, and the expert is a terrific bang for the buck. My dealer is also a SC dealer, and the value isn’t there as far as I’m concerned. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Ripmo, but wanted to deal with my local shop who are also former co workers.
Twice. Went this morning and passed 2 rattlesnakes at close range. Scary as shit. Anyway, other than pedal strikes the bike is great. I’m 190 and can’t seem to get the suspension where I want it, so I’m thinking of adding a token to the fork and shock.

Nice. That DVO is really good stuff once you get it dialed in!
Similar bike where can I get the pedals and Handle bar grips to match ?
Mine are Deity. I purchased with the bike at Dirt Rooster (my local bike shop).
add more air in fork/shock and speed up rebound and it will feel more playful.

How are you liking the oval? Considering the upgrade but not sure if it’s worth it.
I dig the oval. I had 1 on my last stumpy too. I really feel it if I jump off that bike and onto 1 without.
Love your regular guy review style - why this over the Hightower- Ripmo?

@@happytrailsmtb8011 makes $ense - you’re right on SC Value, really disappointing.
You should hit White Clay not far from you - outstanding.
I currently have 2021 stumpjumper comp 29. It has been great, but I'm staring to surpass the 130mm rear shock.
Have you taken it to the shed yet?

Did you make any geo adjustments or were you still striking pedals in high position? Were you striking pedals on way up or down?
I haven’t fooled with the geo settings yet, so it’s neutral/high. Rock strikes aren’t bad, just happens a little more frequently than my 2020
