If this was a plan to educate us about the type of bug species, they have done a good job.
I forgot the first bug and im 9 mins in..🤨
Not. Cockroaches do not have the proper mouth parts to be bugs. They are insects.
In the manga, they expanded to all types of creatures like mollusks, crustaceans & fish
🤣🤣🤣

Yes, it's almost scary how this is exactly how it happened in real life, when Japan send their expedition to Mars.

Second generation? If they've evolved already that far it's way beyond "second generation".
Don't try to make sense of any of it. lol
They have pecs and abs, so you know at this point..
@@Cafeston TICK TOCK HEAVY LIKE A BRINKS TRUCK
@@Cafeston they do naughty things
In the original manga, the second generation was cockroaches that ate the original crew and mutated with additional bug DNA.
Why do they get so big? The moss or whatever else producing oxygen stays the same but even if the cockroaches are genetically modified the lack of breathable air should keep them smaller as being larger requires more air. If anything they should evolve to be smaller.
Mars is terra formed but the anime/movie doesn't tell to what extent globally or delve into details on how it was precisely done....Mars would need lots of CO2 (than it has) to be terra formed and there is the problem of water to make it habitable which Mars only have in small quantities at it's poles and then there is the problem of Mar's almost non-existent magnetic field that won't block harmful solar radiation..
bro it's a movie
@@ameyas7726In the anime, the mc and another character find a body of water deep enough that a roach tried dragging one of them down into the depths to drown them because they deemed them nearly impossible to fight hand to hand
@@ameyas7726 The landscape in both is rock with some green moss stuff. There is surface water but no associated life other than terraformar variants.
the chemical they used over the years, along with radiation from space, instead of killing them it mutated them
The first thing to mind when seeing the roaches, 'Bug Lightyear'
Can't get over how dumb the idea of them evolving into humanoids is.
This looks like one of the worst movies ever made
I mean this is originally a manga, which aren't known for their realism.
Asian movie: what did you expect?
Yeah it's incredibly stupid. In the manga/anime they were genetically modified into humanoids, to be sent as terraforming slave workers. Which makes a lot of sense in a eugenics science fiction way, I mean we can grow ears on mice so eventually I assume we'll be able to do a lot more than that.
Anyways, the 'soldiers' are then people they spliced with other insects and arachnids etc, to be used as super soldiers. There is a revolution of sorts on Mars in which the cockroaches have enough of being slaves and just go sicko mode killing everything. So they're sent there to kill a humanoid species that can breed like cockroaches, while being several dozen times stronger than a human being. It's an interesting concept, but not delivered too well. The fights are pretty sick though, especially the wolf spider dude.
I have no idea why they changed it for the live action, probably some rights involved in maintaining creative control and he didn't want them to make the film, so they had to adjust it or something. Same shit that weakened the spiderman films for years.
Edit: The sent to terraform Mars is the reason for the name Terra Formas, which makes zero sense in the context of the film but a tonne of sense in a terraforming way.
what an unintelligent take and a great way to show your lack of an education in biology and imagination.🤣😂😂
I remember watching the anime of this when it came out, which is probably so much better and was surreal and almost scary. I never even knew they made a live action movie until today.
What’s the anime called?
@@ChickensEntertainmentLol. The same as this movie. Terra Formars. Manga too.
@@ChickensEntertainment same name. Terraformars
The concept of the roaches evolving on another planet makes it interesting. But it all goes down hill when they made everyone with superpowers which was not evolution but science even then its too far fetched. It was an okay movie, anime but nothing worth praising.

Lol. They spend hundreds of years terraforming. Launch a bunch of misfits to spray toxic chemicals to undo what they've done.
Just a regular day in the history of human stupidity
it was a suicide mission they wouldnt send their best
"In the 21st century, overpopulation has become an unsolvable problem." The irony if this being _a Japanese_ film.
only stupid people think overpopulation is an issue....even Elon Musk knows we are facing population collapse
Yup, it's under-population that will plague the 22nd century and no-one (certainly not the Japanese, Koreans or Chinese) have any idea what to do about it - except develop robots. The cheaper route of more immigration is of course anathema to insular, closed societies, so that will never fly.
The Japanese just send their men around the world and get the rest to off themselves faster so in 500 years only Japan is safe harbor.
Also not unsolvable in any way, its just an uncomfortable problem to solve. Weapons exist.
It's also a non problem, we are literally headed towards the exact opposite problem
Why does Honda explain his plan to the crew? What does that accomplish? And why does he want that 2nd Gen egg? If the 1st Gen bugs are all anti-human due to genetic memory, how could he possibly control these new bugs? And if his goal was to retrieve the egg, why did he lie to all but two of the crew about the mission's goal? He didn't even need to tell the crew he wanted to create super soldiers. If he just said "I want the egg to study it because i'm a scientist" then it's unlikely anyone would rebel against him!
the surgery/injections made for better super soldiers anyway. specific bug traits that could be chosen to do different things. a equal sized army of humans with with ant/spider/wasp powers would roll over a roach army imo. however, i don't know anything about this movie or the lore other than the video i just watched so i may be missing some info
Because the villain always has to explain their plan so that the audience knows what’s going on 😂😂 Movies 101 lol
He didn't want a second gen egg. The second gen was improvised by the woman controlling them; she didn't want to go find their nests to get an egg and so she made them copulate. That was not planned by Hondo. As for his plan with the others, he wanted them all to die fighting so he could collect fight data as he states because apparently that is valuable. He was doubtless going to kill the other two when they got back with the egg, and I'd imagine his plan was to give himself the control ability but that is speculative.
I think you assume he just didn't care about them, so it would have been the same to him if they died or not. But he actively wanted them to die fighting.
@rmilldawg it's really such a simple concept lol
Terraformars is a very good "Nat-Geo" anime. Teaches you all about special bugs/creatures that you seldom hear about.
"Not this live adaption though."
Uhh....I wouldn't let kids watch the anime.
What a cinematic masterpiece.
Great recap as always❤
Why is everyone wearing space suits but some random dude named Lee is wearing tribal clothes?
because he's a terrorist and the movie wants you to know that
Look closely, he's wearing the space suit under his poncho.
Just his style for some reason
In the original he was an Israeli guerrilla veteran
What i love about this movie is it has a hopeful ending ...... terraformars never had a hopeful moment just dead here and death there and some dude take out more bug but still dead ...
Why would you send stinkin' roaches there? It's bad enough that they're all over the place here.

Only thing I can think of is how long do cockroaches live? Not 60-80yrs like people. If it's only a month or so it could be 1000's of generations over 500yrs right?
insects evolve much more rapidly than mammals, thanks to their much shorter lifespan
