Eagerly awaiting the BTS for this. I really like the way you handled light in this one. And the Scarlet W image with Zeiss and Sigma lenses is something else.
I have only one quibble, which is some of the handheld footage in the earlier part is a little too jittery for my taste. Maybe a monopod or Easyrig could make those movements a little smoother without losing the handheld feel.

2:00 Money Shot...... Overall great piece, really love the WIDE shots and would love to see more wide shots to extreme wide shots. To me the greatness of this camera is seeing massive wide shots showing the resolution, detail and excellent scenery.

Honestly haven't had much time to play with it. My kids hockey schedules have been deadly the past couple of weeks. ( try-out season in Canada haha ) Between that and actual paid gigs biting into my time, I've only managed to log a couple of hours on it. I'm just as pumped as you were though, when you did your first vid announcing that you'd purchased a Scarlet-W. I've been following you since then, and very much appreciate the time and effort you put into your vids - both the paid gigs, and the BTS stuff. Keep killing it man. We all appreciate it, and like I said before, we're all inspired by the work you do.

5 years late on this comment i know but your cinematography is amazing. Just wondering what your thoughts would be on getting a Scarlet W in 2022. Love the image it produces and they are dramatically cheaper now a days and even with the Komodo being available, I've seen packages of the scarlet that get you ready to shoot that are still cheaper then a decently rigged Komodo. Either way. amazing work!

It's all about understanding exposure in relation to the Dragon Sensor- getting clean images comes from shooting a LOT of tests w/ different OLPF's in different lighting scenarios. It just takes practice and testing a lot.
so can you give me your red settings? what settings did you shot in? What OLPF did you use?
It changes every scene depending on the lighting condition- we shot this like 6 months ago and I don't have the raw footage anymore, but I know I mostly used the standard OLPF and stayed under ISO 800.
I think the most important concept to grasp is: low light doesn't mean no light. If no light hits the sensor, then the sensor has nothing to show but noise. One last thing: I've been guilty of that myself, FLUT default is 0,00 I once thought the default was 1,00 resulting in underexposed (therefore noisy) footage... never felt so dumb in my entire life!
please make a short explanation video about how to use SW properly. What OLPF for low light, what settings and etc. Thanks

hey bro answer this question for me i have the back magic cinema camera 2.5k the same one you had i normally shot in DNxHD which i like i shot some building in raw and tried to grade it and i saw moire aliasing way to sharp is this because WHEN YOU SHOOT IN RAW
It all depends on what you're shooting- certain things moire (small patterns in clothing, etc.) Doesn't really have to do w/ RAW, just sensor characteristics.

Hahahaha. It depends honestly- I've definitely taken a lot more initiative in having a say in the color and LUT building in pre-production. As far as editing, especially with the commercials I shoot, not a lot if any- but thankfully my footage is typically cut by really talented editors! If it's a spec project or a music video, I'll have more say for sure-
