Aside from the storage and 'limited' graphic capabilities compared to the Series X, I personally believe that for the best bang for your buck the Series S is the way to go. That and the fact that the S is an absolute beast of a machine for its size is just a solid plus.
I use to be against cloud gaming but after playing around xbox cloud on my macbook air laptop, I decided to take the plunge and bought a series s. I love the fact that if I want to try a game, I can be in it within a minute using the cloud service. If I really like the game I will download it. Seriously, such a cool feature. I've played more games in the last two months than I have in the last year because of it.
I have a Series S and my nephew borrows it from time to time and he absolutely loves it. I did have my doubts about the Series S but it's really a great system for $300. I been building up my Xbox One library since the games are cheap less the older ones.
I've owned my Xbox Series S for about a month now, and it was my first Xbox purchase. I knew the 512GB storage was a bit lacking, but I bought the system for $319 CND ($232 US). I ended up getting the 1TB Seagate Expansion Card. I know for the price I paid I could have gotten myself a Series X, but if only they were available (and it wasn't at the time). Still, I now have 1.3TB of storage to play with, while the Series X has 1TB. I've also invested money in battery packs and an extra controller (Microsoft still uses AA batteries in the controllers), but I've been overall very happy with this little console. Buying it kinda reminded of when I purchased a SEGA Dreamcast back in 1999. It was more of a small grey little box, but it was affordable and impressive (more so, for that time). Having previously been locked into SONY's ecosystem (since PlayStation 2, although have a Wii and a 2DS XL), I'm not exactly getting the same exclusives but I'm enjoying Game Pass and the games that are available. I've gone from rarely gaming to gaming as often as I can because I'm having that much fun. Hopefully the Xbox Series S will continue to be enjoyable going forward. You're getting bang for your buck, Game Pass is an absolutely must, and the Microsoft Store has sales on great games regularly. I play on both a 4K UHD TV and a great 1080P TV.
@@cronchcrunchYou're basically gonna spend the same amount of money on rechargeable AA batteries as you will just buying a battery pack. Unless you're using AA batteries for other things, it really wouldn't matter which you get.
@@Retrogamer01635 my mum orderd me the xbox series x yesterday as an early birthday present i switched from a ps4 i had an xbox 360 i loved it so much i had a ps2 it was okay xbox 360 was the reason why i switched back to xbox and because its backwards compatiable and for gamepass im never ever buying anything playstation again i will always buy xbox from now on im done with playstation my brother has the ps5 though
as gamepass cloud services get better, the Series S will take advantage of cloud services. at that point, the physical hardware features doesn't matter as much.
I went a different route this gen. I have been PlayStation since PS1 but saw what Xbox was doing and wanted to get in on PC gaming. I went with an upper mid range gaming PC that gives me 1440p 120+fps or 4k 30/60 AND a Series S. The only thing I want my xbox for is the console exclusives or things that aren't cross play and I'm totally happy to have lesser graphics on my console for the way I use it. And having been on PC for ~a year now it's clear to me that devs can drop fidelity and fps to make things run fine on the Series S just like games can do that on PC's for different GPU's. I'm even happy to use the Series S at 1080p to compensate.. 1080p still looks hella good (to me.. don't come at me hahaha).
This is just me, but anything more than 1080p is super negligible. Framerate is 1000x more important at that point. Then again, I'm not regularly using 4K displays.
Series S is dope. I hope it lasts. I'm no developer so I don't really know what to say but I think the Series S is designed for lower resolution and lower assets so I dont see the problem. My point is if a game can't be made for the Series S imagine what imagine quality will be on the Series X because I want my games to look good on my lg oled 65inch.
The devs only say this, because they are straight up lazy. It's an excuse of them. Just because they hate to optimize their games. Always have been that way.
Wow that's funny I also just uploaded a video about a similar topic today, why I and moving from Series S to X. You nailed it in this video, Series S is great and a good option for many but as time has gone on I have realized for me the Series X lives up to more expectations in what a next gen system is suppose to be. Great Work
The reason why i still like gaming natively on consoles, no matter how great internet you have, there will obviously be times where the internet might go off, an outage of internet, servers going down. Some people still can't get good internet for cloud, here in my country South Africa, we do have Wi-Fi and fibre but sometimes there are internet outages, plus Xbox Cloud is not available. With a console, you can game offline (Redfall why do you have to be always online). I love my Series S, was affordable plus i don't have a 4K TV anyways.
I could upgrade to a series S from my ps4 pro but no physical disc support is a deal breaker for me I'll probably save some more and go for a ps5 disc version.
I’ve only had my Series S for not even a week yet, and I’m loving it! Sure the graphics are not as great as the X, but in my mind, the gameplay is where it matters the most. I can manage with this console for now until I can afford the X.
Hmmm....download to the external and then transfer them to the internal when you want to actually play them - brilliant workaround. I'm thinking then I could get a regular spinny platter external and not sweat it. Thanks a lot! Game management baby!😀
Highly recommend NReal Air AR glasses for portability. It can be used with the nreal adapter too. If you're going to drop money in that tiny monitor for series s, you might as well get NReal Air glasses. 1080p 60hz 65 inch TV in your pocket and works with steam deck, PC, some phones, etc.
I completely agree with the disc drive being useless, that’s exactly what has pushed me towards digital. I just don’t see he point in owning a physical copy (I.e. extra plastic on the shelf) when it’s basically just a glorified digital download anyway.
There are major advantages like reselling and buying cheaper and from multiple marketplaces, being able to share with friends, and not to mention there have been instances where digital games have been removed from online marketplaces. Not to mention install file sizes for disc games are significantly less than the digital counterparts. It has its advantages.
I think you nailed it on this video. The Series S is a great complimentary piece of hardware. Im primarily a Nintendo/PlayStation gamer while using my Xbox to honestly play older games. While it will vary on a game to game basis whether the Series S can perform well it will definitely be supported across the generation.
Same here. PS5 is for general/next gen stuff, Switch for Zelda, Metroid, plus the portable aspect, and then my Series S is for Half Life 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi and so forth. Absolute beast of a machine.
Idk, I think it's just fine at this time but as the generation goes on and AAA games start taking advantage of the new hardware I find it hard to believe it won't be holding them back. Nintendo has proven that the power of a console doesn't matter...if you have strong first party IP. MS relies mostly on 3rd party though. So they can't compete with Nintendo in that department and don't know if they'll be able to compete with Sony in AAA third party later on because of it either. Unless they have Series X exclusives or hold back the 3rd party market. Could be wrong but we'll see.
I stopped my home internet. Spectrum was seriously ripping me off. So without a home WiFi, my series s was almost pointless. My phone hotspot wasn't near Good enough. So I sold my series s like 4months into owning it. I really hate the digital gaming thing. A online update here and there is fine, but I really hate a constant internet connection for gaming now. (I never play online games).
Jay - There are a lot of Offline Games You can play on the Xbox Series console. It DOES NOT REQUIRE a constant connection to the internet for gaming. Now, there are certain games that require an internet connection just to play. That all depends on what games you prefer. If the game is designed that way, purchasing a digital copy and downloading it will enable offline mode. BTW, you can also buy your own Standalone, pay as you go Wifi box way cheaper than paying for spectrum. I pay $70 monthly for mine and it's 300Mb-450MB Down and 120Mb- 200Mb up UNLIMITED. I only use it for traveling. There are always alternatives and ways to play.
@@onlywiigame. - Not True. You can play a lot of Games OFFLINE on the Xbox series consoles. Now as far as intentions, Unless you've been under rock lately, Sony appears to have completely lost their marbles over the idea that another company shouldn't spend its own money on something. THAT'S STUPID. Who should tell you how to spend your money? Right....
Game dev logic: Xbox Series S: It's weak, it won't last long, limiting game innovation Nintendo Switch: I will work my arse out for the ancient hardware for years to come.
Xbox Series S will last because if developers want to release something for Series X, they are forced by Microsoft to make a version for Series S as well. But I'm curious to see what it will be like at the end of the generation because every end of the generation rolls with those games that are so demanding that they run poorly on the current consoles, it happened with the PS3/X360 in games like Crysis 3 , The Last of Us and Metal Gear Solid 5, it happened on PS4/XONE with Cyberpunk 2077, Control and The Callisto Protocol and it's almost certainly going to happen on PS5/SX too, so I'm curious... what the Series S version will look like in games that run not so well on PS5/SX?
It's inevitable that late gen games designed to push ps5/xsx will either be compromised or possibly not supported on the xss. Games could skip the xbox platform to avoid being held back. I don't want them to but it's a reality that games will get MUCH more advanced.
Great vid but I’d disagree about the disc drive being unnecessary for one reason, price of games. If you’re someone like me that doesn’t buy many games day 1, you’ll most likely find said game at a discounted price later on disc where that same game would be more expensive digitally.
I buy 5 dollar games on digital marketplace all the time. Just bought the fully graphically upscaled rockstar Arkham trilogy for 9 bucks. That’s three full games with all the digital add on’s for each game and all the side quests for each game included in the package. Plus I’m cheap so I buy the yearly Xbox live for 60 bucks once. Now there’s a yearly subscription for ultimate game pass with live include for like 109 and some change. Now when you have Xbox gold. Digital sales happen every month. I wait for forever to buy games. I save a ton of money this way. I do think gamepass is overrated because the games on there are 12 years old. However for 109 a year with gamepass and on top of that digital sales every month for gold members and mark place sales every month. It’s well worth it to switch. I never had a huge gaming collection. I normally sell my games either for store credit or cash for my next game but in reality I’m spending way less money for way more games at my disposal. Unless you have a huge physical game collection already disk drives are outdated.
Aside from the fact that it resembles a giant block of tofu, I've been enjoying the Series S. Yeah, I caved in and bought "GTA V" again. I just had to. Now, I know that my opinion is not important but I've always thought that the Series S could have just been a smaller digital version of the X. Same specs just smaller and black.
I have both consoles. The series X and the series S. Honestly I find the series S being better for my lifestyle. I use the series S far much more than the series X. It's smaller and more mobile and much more easy in use. If you plan on being mobile and use your console lot's on the go. Btw the series S is redicouless cheap in terms of good quality. It's the best bang for your buck.
Don't care about the graphics and resolution or 4k and stuff. As long as I can play my favorite game, it's all good. Like for example tomb raider (2013). When it came out I was like, 8 or 9 maybe. Of course didn't had any console or pc to play with but wanted to play the game so bad. Now just finished the game on series s, and I felt the game came just yesterday.
Idk if you realize this.......the VAST majority of games are on their respective discs. Very few games aren't on the disc, and those are love service/multiplayer games.
As a Series S owner like in my honest opinion the Series S will exist but only cause the Series X exist. I own both consoles SX n SS but i can really notice the major downgrades they had to do on the series s just for the games to play on that console 😢 I refuse to believe it but the Series S might hold back gaming not now but in the future
Things I like, the price, the size, a few 1440p titles. What I don't like, a current gen CPU with a very oudatted, yet somewhat modified GPU, some games are actually sub HD, as low as 512p etc. Looks like a$$ on a 4K Display, the storage, the fact it's way more prone to overheating, the graphical cutbacks, the fact the One X does 4K with a way more powerful GPU. The fact that the older last gen consoles are NOT that far behind it. And it's white. Other than that it's just an Xbox One with a better CPU and slightly better GPU. That's all. ;o(
I had went from Xbox Series X to downgrade to Xbox Series S. Somehow I prefer it this way as I don't want discs flying around and broken 🤔 all my games are digital and always with me 😀
In games like Deadspace remake which is a 2023 already runs at 30 fps and also Jedi Survivor is at 30 fps. So as time goes on the Series S won't be able to run triple A titles at 60 fps. It's just a fact.
The problem right now with delvopment on series s is that delvopers are still delvoping crossgen so they are only using 8 of the cu,s in it there still 12 more delvopers are also not using fsr or sfs or velocity xbox series s was built to use all of these to hit its performance target so until we are out of crossgen xbox series s cant hit it true potential do yes it will last the hole generation
Developers need to leverage the more efficient RDNA2 tools and features 🤷🏻♂️The problem is developers prioritizing PlayStation as the market leader and ignoring the new advances features that PS5 isn’t capable of
I’ve had the first model of ps4 for about 7 years now and I’m planning on upgrading just worried that the series s won’t last like the old black rectangle
My series a cost less than my switch. I'm mainly handheld or cloud gaming. Busy dad and work is fn crazy. I absolutely love my series s when I get the time to sit down at my desk and play. With my old but nice flat monitor still I'm amazed at what this little console can do. Would recommend to anyone just wanting a current gen system with no specific love for either console company or pc gaming.
Hi, so my system when I start games up for the for first time, either into quick resume or not, the whole system stutters and I have to restart my console. Afterwards it works fine but when I first start up my system the whole OS just freezes and stutters and I have to wait to click Restart. Upon restarting it seems to fix this issue but that's only if I clear everything out of Quick Resume and start everything up from scratch. Any help with this would be phenomenal.
I love how people still call the 2020 console "next-gen" in 2023 but if UE5 kicks its ass then there will be a serious difference in 2025. I bet optimization for it must be hell and that is why we haven't seen Hellblade in so long. People need to appreciate that the XSX actually costs less than the XSS long term due to cheaper games thanks to physical media. I'm playing tales of arise which I got for $10 on a crazy gamestop deal. It's $60 at the Xbox store. Do that just 5x and the XSX is cheaper. The XSS is a gamepass box.
You can find good deals on Xbox/Microsoft store as well - just add to your “wish list” and it will notify you when it goes on sale. I don’t recall purchasing any game for a full price. It was always 50% or more off (sometimes 85%). Similar to Steam (but a bit more expensive).
I paid 15 dollars for dirt 5 day one release, 14 for cyberpunk, 17 got dying light 2, 3 for crysis remastered, 9 for fifa 23, an so on, only games I spent almost full price is day one releases from mayor ips, like now diablo 4, I'm not paying 70 but like 40 45 with turkey or Argentina key when available
Series s is indeed slowing down next gen only games, instead of taking full power of PS5 and x, they need to cater to a much less powerful machine too, and I'm not talking graphics or fps
I dont get why people complain about 512gb storage, um you wont be playing 10 games at the same time. I have like 3-4 games on it that i play, when I'm done I just delete it. Also, bought 2TB hdd 7200rpm drive for 35$ external, and GG Love this tiny console, and it is so quiet, works amazing on my 1080p 144hz monitor
The Series S has to last through the lifetime of the Series X. Public opinion on the Xbox brand would tank -- deservedly so -- if Microsoft were to drop support for it. I think that as new game engines (especially Unreal Engine 5) are introduced into the Xbox Series and PS5 ecosystems (not to mention the next Nintendo console when that eventually comes out), we're going to see the true potential of this console generation. The way I look at it is that the Series S isn't holding gaming back. Old game engines that don't make the most of this new technology are holding gaming back. Once we move on from those, we'll be golden. But publishers are going to have to leave the PS4 and Xbox One behind in order for that to happen (looking at you, PS4 version of the Resident Evil 4 remake).
As someone whose money is tight and can not always afford the internet bill. You gonna understand wanting to own your full game. Certain games won't play on the Xbox at all if you offline. As he said CDs are becoming more like access keys that allow you to play your games instead of the full game being on them. I'm making steps to switch to PC gaming cause that's not as much as a issue for me there. But for console gaming? It's just makes me feel stupid to solely game on it. In the past it was a cheaper method for me vs pc gaming. Now I might as well eat that buy in cost. I will keep my xbox for the past games I've bought on it, but going forward it will mostly be the PC option for me.
For starters NO it’s not gonna be supported down the road as soon as the developer says listen Microsoft we can’t make this on the series S so it’s either a X version or we are just gonna make exclusive to PS5, Microsoft will changed there tune real quick. Also you’re not a gamer your statement about the disk Drive makes it very obvious to anybody that is a gamer, that you are not!!! (Not to mention that it’s a 4K Blu-ray player for movies right there it’s worth it)
This is so goofy. Gamers are defined by buying disks, what a joke. Blue ray, nah, I’ll save my cash and just stream it. Lastly, it’s going to be a cold day in hell before developers will be able to EVER tell Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo what to do. If you can play games on a steam deck, you can play it on the s. Thank you for the glimpse into 2008. We are in the future now. Optimization and digital is the name of the game. Like it or not.
@@jdxcoffee whatever you say it’s obvious you’re fake gamer your lol. Games that have a physical release and digital 51% are sold physically and you could stream movies all you want but anybody that serious about movies is going to buy physical copies because of the quality and streaming movies isn’t free so yeah you’re saving cash lol (streaming movies is garbage compared to 4K Blu-ray) lol There are games right now that are being delayed because they can’t get it to run on the S properly and a launching on the PS5 how long you think Microsoft is going to let that happen.
@@michaeldietz2648 you go ahead and be a serious movie watcher and “gamer” I’m going to have some not so serious times with the rest of the game players and movie watchers who are cool with having fun for fun’s sake (intentionally staying away from calling us all “gamers” because your definition of gamer seems really important to you). Those games aren’t coming to ps5 because of development. It’s because of Licensing. Look at pc gaming for instance. A game has a potato version all the way up to insane fidelity options. Here’s the deal though. If this means enough to you to comment on this again, you win. It’s all yours Michael. You stumped the internet guy.
If the rumours that Xbox will not have a pro version so the next Xbox let's call it series Zet ( Z), Microsoft should either manufacture the series x without the blue ray disc reader and target it at 400 euros ( as Sony did for ps5 digital only version) or use a different cell for this version. In this way people who already have the series s 3 years, they will give another 400 dollars so won't have any problem till 2028 ( series z release period or further).
Hi, does this monitor (Acer Nitro 23.6" Full HD 1500R Curved Gaming Monitor | AMD FreeSync Premium | 165Hz Refresh Rate | 1ms (VRB) | ZeroFrame Design | 1 x Display Port 1.4 & 2 x HDMI 2.0 Ports (Renewed) ) is good for the xbox series s? It seems that it has a pretty good price, can someone please tell me if this is a good monitor for the xbox series s? Thank you
Dang I'm really torn here. Starfield is locked to 30 FPS anyway right? If I can play it at 1080p 30FPS I honestly think that would be a delightful experience. I mean don't get me wrong, I love the idea of a big 4k Tv and cranking up all the visuals because who wouldn't but I am looking at the games I play and I'm like 🤔 if I can save a hundred bucks or more in the long term I feel that is worth it. I grew up with Xbox. Some of my favorite games like Bioshock Infinite I don't need it in 4k because I was stoked to play it in 720p 😅 but I'm getting my house this Christmas and I am like do I just go for the latest and greatest I really don't know. I don't play games anywhere near as much as I'd like so I feel I wouldn't get to enjoy the extra power and extra resolution unless I'm playing something like Starfield you know.
Don’t wanna buy another shitty Series S (didn’t have it since launch)but I hate that I keep having to buy Series Xs just to sell em… literally sold my Series X last night, deposits hit and now I have to rebuy another one. My old Series S got hot 5-10 minutes after I set it up and it was cutting off mid game I just hope that still isn’t a thing or else I’ll get a One X if I don’t feel like spending another 400+
Liked, commented & subscribed! Good bye Xbox 360. Marketplace closure made me ask if I have to get another next gen console in 20 years, don’t knock for asking but I can’t do it! Not because of nostalgia but because my motivation to play with excessive free time is my only excuse to binge which I don’t do - I’d rather watch films, TV streaming or music; it’s a great alternative for budgets and I don’t like the lack of impulse to game on my 512 - I do have external hard drives and other accessories (was in love with the console for 3 years and had spent up to £4,500 wildly buying software & hardware). I have to ask out on a whim, does backwards compatibility win your vote for the series XS gen? What’s kept you subscribed to live which is now Game Pass?
You're failing to see the bigger picture when it comes to discs. The economics of physical media works out better for the consumer. We can shop around for the best offers, we can sell or trade-in games, we can borrow from friends, etc. Without physical media, the only way to purchase Xbox games will be through the Microsoft themselves. One company having complete control over the pricing and distribution of all Xbox games is a nightmare scenario for consumers. Just because Gamepass is cheap right now, that doesn't mean it'll stay that way when all competition has been removed.
*If new 1st party Xbox games become stream only for the Series S and not able to play natively then that's a L especially since there are more Series S consoles than Series X consoles. Not to mention its another L if the game still cost the same while only being able to be streamed.*
I admit, I am getting a little worried about this not surviving the entire generation... But the Series S makes up for 75% of Xbox sales. Microsoft is not gonna abandon that overwhelming majority. That said, I expect more features to be taken out of Series S versions of games in the future. Hell, I wouldn't surprised if studios start avoiding it (and possibly Xbox in general) entirely.
Completely different take on gaming. The Nintendo switch is made primarily for Nintendo games. The series s is using games that the ps5 and sx use so eventually it wont be able too. I doubt gta6 will be on the ss and if it does it will play terrible, the switch was never going to get gta6 because thats not the type of console it is
every game I play on my S runs at 1440p and almost always 60 frames, but I play it on my Dell gaming monitor which goes with the S like peanut butter and jelly, games look awesome to the point I don't even want an X anymore, for real
I'm definitely a physical game person, and as someone who bought all his Xbox one games physically the series S makes ni sense for me. I wouldn't be able to play all my Xbone games.
I am more comfortable playing shooters on console so I install them all there and I do have a pc as well so I install most of my games that have campaigns on there.
From what I can see, the Series S is suffering from the poor optimisation on all the new consoles. It's just easier to see because it's less powerful. If a game ran 4k60 on PS5/Series X it would run 1080/ 30 on series S. The problem is we ain't seeing 4k60 on PS5/Series X as often as we maybe should be.
It appears the SS is going nowhere. It is a budget console delivering as MS designed it to be. I have 2 1 TB Seagate and 1 2TB Seagate cards, and 12 TB of Samsung Evo 860 external storage that houses 3 gens of my Xbox history, and also use as storage for my Series X console.
Series S' fate is uncertain because it all depends on devs. Hardware is poor but it's designed to be used along with certain paths and techniques of making video games.\ I'm not a dev maybe the techniques are very complicated and devs dont want spend time on them. That's why they have to see games like FH Motorsport 8 or Starfield on SX running on XSS. Without the techniques Series S will become a 720p console.
@@Jeff--vq4zb Depends on what you consider as satisfying. I'm sure the GPU is good enough for doing native 720p in the next 5 years. The rest is the question of upscalling
Doesn't matter if it's not full games I can still let a friend a game I can still resell the game even long after the server's down oh wait when the Xbox server shuts down oh wait that f****** $300 console becomes a paperweight
I have a 1080p monitor, and i wanted to play some esport title like apex, for 200$ , thats good enough. Solid 60fps , good graphics. Deal breaker for me. For 200$ price tag, pc wont give u solid 60fps even on lowest graphics. Getting a console with included controller , thats saves a lot. For beginner and enjoyable, its good enough. But if u are competitive, skip and go bought good pc.
Actually they are full games especially on PlayStation I mean yeah like halo infinite wasn’t all on the disc and of course call of duty isn’t all on the game but I mean almost everything else has the full game on the disc like you people always say that games are not on disc because you believe that everything needs to be updated when no they don’t
And xbots think it was genius. Shows just how little they know about whats good for gaming and whats not. And whats to come of that thing when games like gta6 come out or a sx pro and ps5 pro?
I think that this console will last and I think that it will get an upgrade wich will make it a good option even for the future! This chip if you guys know,it has for real 24 cus,but 4 are diseable and even forther, the frequency of the graphics chip are low,if you think, they could enable that 4 cus and up the frequencys and after that voala, you could have a 6 or even a 7 teraflop series s and for that I think that is on the corner👍👍
You entirely forget that it has the exact same architecture features as the Series X. The reason why we haven't seen it implemented in many games is due to several titles still being cross-gen. You're basing everything from base specs alone.
I still have the Xbox one x, I’m just not seeing much of reason to upgrade to the series X/S, where’s the games?!?!??, I’m not even sure I want to upgrade at this point. Xbox itself has let us all down if you ask me. New system been out for a couple years and has barely any games.
Series S is basically a one x. So there isn't really a point in upgrading unless you're going to get the series x. I think xbox did a great job at marketing the series s and it duped a lot of people into thinking it was truly next gen.

However, I do like dabbling in a couple of other things (FIFA, Lego Star Wars, some smaller games etc). I really like playing on the cloud on the console too to save space if I am just trying something out. I see FB Marketplace has the XBOX Series X listed for around $350.
Why not just use rechargeable AAs instead of a battery pack? Does it last longer or something?
@@cronchcrunchYou're basically gonna spend the same amount of money on rechargeable AA batteries as you will just buying a battery pack. Unless you're using AA batteries for other things, it really wouldn't matter which you get.
I upgraded from the Series S to the X and I couldn’t really see that much difference. Both are good though
That's not good no difference next gen naw
Do you have a 4k tv?! The difference is clear as day

Yes. If low spec PC's can last then the S will stand the test of time. I also bought a switch lite force field because of your video🙌.
Heck yea man. That case is CLUTCH
as gamepass cloud services get better, the Series S will take advantage of cloud services. at that point, the physical hardware features doesn't matter as much.
We have to come for ya and get cha!!!
This is just me, but anything more than 1080p is super negligible. Framerate is 1000x more important at that point. Then again, I'm not regularly using 4K displays.
@@urphakeandgey6308 1440p is the sweet spot for me for gaming, but I’m also at a desk so much closer to the screen than if at a TV.
I played all the way through Plague Tale on the Series S, and loved the graphics.
Yup, truly amazing game. I also completed it on my series s last month.
Wow that's funny I also just uploaded a video about a similar topic today, why I and moving from Series S to X. You nailed it in this video, Series S is great and a good option for many but as time has gone on I have realized for me the Series X lives up to more expectations in what a next gen system is suppose to be. Great Work
Series s is just for busy dads who can only play 2 hours after work
The reason why i still like gaming natively on consoles, no matter how great internet you have, there will obviously be times where the internet might go off, an outage of internet, servers going down.
You say that as if you can't game offline on PC. You can.
Wow, this is very well-spoken! I bought this console for the same reason you mentioned. It's great for some people, and I fall into that category 😎
Maybe they’ll start offering you the more demanding games through the cloud on Series S?
Highly recommend NReal Air AR glasses for portability. It can be used with the nreal adapter too. If you're going to drop money in that tiny monitor for series s, you might as well get NReal Air glasses. 1080p 60hz 65 inch TV in your pocket and works with steam deck, PC, some phones, etc.
I completely agree with the disc drive being useless, that’s exactly what has pushed me towards digital. I just don’t see he point in owning a physical copy (I.e. extra plastic on the shelf) when it’s basically just a glorified digital download anyway.
No it’s not because you can download the game offline and still play it
There are major advantages like reselling and buying cheaper and from multiple marketplaces, being able to share with friends, and not to mention there have been instances where digital games have been removed from online marketplaces.
That’s exactly what I use my Series S for.
Same here. PS5 is for general/next gen stuff, Switch for Zelda, Metroid, plus the portable aspect, and then my Series S is for Half Life 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi and so forth. Absolute beast of a machine.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who uses the series s just to play older great titles like Killer Instinct,Gears of war,Halo and other classics 👍
That’s only on Xbox this is why Microsoft should have never entered the gaming space they never had good intentions
Right....
Game dev logic:
Xbox Series S: It's weak, it won't last long, limiting game innovation
Nintendo Switch: I will work my arse out for the ancient hardware for years to come.
Interesting. For me, some of the cheapest AAA titles I’ve ever purchased we’re only months later digitally.
I had my xbox for 2 years and Its still powerful
Dont see much of a reason to buy a series s. After buying one and a 1tb expansion card, it will be almost the same price as a series x
I really hope it does such an incredible little machine can't wait to see more games on it and with gamepass awesome video
Rumors are the next switch will have series s power 😂
So I have a series x (love it) but I’m debating on getting a ps5 digital since I don’t really care for disc media. Thoughts?

I love the series s but it’s soo funny that the series s is getting soo much attention and popular then the series X 😂
Eventually the disc drive version will be the budget option as we move away from discs.
Why would the more expensive model to manufacture be cheaper? That makes no sense.

How do you think the 1TB will perform? The one coming soon...
By the time that happens the next Xbox and PS6 will be right around the corner.
I think the moment the S wont be supported is when cross gen with the newer consoles happen
I am noticing that
I like the clean look of this video nice job
Also with the d8sc drive you can watch movies while those digital games download
You will see the limitations far before you will feel them
I’ve had series S about 3 months now the storage is lacking and same with having no disk drive am thinking of going back to my Xbox one s
Do you know about key site? I bet that game is like 5 bucks
Also, bought 2TB hdd 7200rpm drive for 35$ external, and GG
Love this tiny console, and it is so quiet, works amazing on my 1080p 144hz monitor

Why does xbox one s and x can’t run resident evil 4 remake while ps4 can😢
Playing on the go is where this will really thrive
I agree
You're failing to see the bigger picture when it comes to discs. The economics of physical media works out better for the consumer. We can shop around for the best offers, we can sell or trade-in games, we can borrow from friends, etc.
Without physical media, the only way to purchase Xbox games will be through the Microsoft themselves. One company having complete control over the pricing and distribution of all Xbox games is a nightmare scenario for consumers. Just because Gamepass is cheap right now, that doesn't mean it'll stay that way when all competition has been removed.
Liked your video man
*If new 1st party Xbox games become stream only for the Series S and not able to play natively then that's a L especially since there are more Series S consoles than Series X consoles.
If someone is really worried about 4K, they can always purchase the Mclassic adapter
Bro I bought mine a year Ago and everything has gone weonge
If the Nintendo Switch lasted 6 years, the Xbox Series S is going to be fine lol.

Dang that is awesome man!
literally just getting this for fortnite and Apex lol
I'm definitely a physical game person, and as someone who bought all his Xbox one games physically the series S makes ni sense for me. I wouldn't be able to play all my Xbone games.
I am more comfortable playing shooters on console so I install them all there and I do have a pc as well so I install most of my games that have campaigns on there.
And some developers and some gamers always complain about the console performance and it’s hard to make them I’m tired
I forgot my volume was mute and I thought this man was making Rap tik toks
hahah
From what I can see, the Series S is suffering from the poor optimisation on all the new consoles. It's just easier to see because it's less powerful. If a game ran 4k60 on PS5/Series X it would run 1080/ 30 on series S. The problem is we ain't seeing 4k60 on PS5/Series X as often as we maybe should be.
It would run 1440p 60/30 or 1080p 30 or 60
I think it would last another 4 years but graphically demanding games would suck on it ….could go down till 1080p @30fps
My series x is blinking while turned off
Series S' fate is uncertain because it all depends on devs. Hardware is poor but it's designed to be used along with certain paths and techniques of making video games.\
I'm not a dev maybe the techniques are very complicated and devs dont want spend time on them. That's why they have to see games like FH Motorsport 8 or Starfield on SX running on XSS. Without the techniques Series S will become a 720p console.
For next gen games, the Series S won't be satisfying. I love it for Indies and old games though.
@@Jeff--vq4zb Depends on what you consider as satisfying. I'm sure the GPU is good enough for doing native 720p in the next 5 years. The rest is the question of upscalling
Some games will have lots of flickering due to anti aliasing
@@Jeff--vq4zb we will see. Incoming Forza will have real-time ray tracing at 1080/60fps on Series S. Its next gen only.
Good morning. Sounds good!
drive is essential for 4k blu rays.
It’ll last but not well. Give it a few years and games will be too big for the console to handle. Unless you like playing at sub 720p.
For me someone who's not a truly gamer, like me it's perfect. A couple of hours every 3 or 4 days.
Series s with atomic heart so bad the grapgic in open world traaashhhhhh or the game idk do i need upgrade to x
It’s not the console it’s probably the screen your playing on that’s trash
@@5eentheworst monitor msi 1440p 165hz hdr and 1 ms
As the series x goes down in price there will be less reason for people to buy the series s.
The S is an idiotic idea from microsoft...
I use it as a emulation machine
You entirely forget that it has the exact same architecture features as the Series X. The reason why we haven't seen it implemented in many games is due to several titles still being cross-gen. You're basing everything from base specs alone.
Finish the video.
The real question is "are the game developers going to last?" 😏
You need more subs dude.
If you
Have a gigabit line streaming is the shit I love it
I still have the Xbox one x, I’m just not seeing much of reason to upgrade to the series X/S, where’s the games?!?!??, I’m not even sure I want to upgrade at this point.
Get a PS5 or PC instead.
@@victorw.330 not eveyrone wants a ps5 or likes a ps5 i had a ps4 I didn’t like it. i liked the xboxb 360 way more the the ps4 im switiching back to xbox my mum orderd me the xbox series x yesterday im never buying any playstation consloe again but it comes down to what you like
"Im the champ" Thats all you need to know lol
The UA-cam algorithm "gravitational pull" of talking XBOX is just too great, I see! 🤣
I am a casual gamer who is basically only interested in driving games (Forza, F1, Hot Wheels) and also Flight Simulator and am happy to pay $10-15/month for just that. However, I do like dabbling in a couple of other things (FIFA, Lego Star Wars, some smaller games etc). I really like playing on the cloud on the console too to save space if I am just trying something out.
I see FB Marketplace has the XBOX Series X listed for around $350. If I really want to make this a hobby I want to devote time to, I will just sell my Series S and buy a used Series X and pay a net of about $150 to upgrade.
I see Series S listings for $200 almost all the time, some in pretty much new condition too.
