Some context on tithing, is the church will pay for your food or rent if you need it. You will never go hungry in the church. We just had our rent paid this month because we had a very bad month.
I understand this is the case, the point was about the necessity of tithing for exaltation. The same principle mentioned in the video “tithe instead of eat” would stand for exaltation as well.
The addition of tithing to the gospel is one of many ways that the LDS church has created a false gospel. The false gospel of this church cannot save. You must turn and trust in the true Christ my friend

I recommend that anyone watching this video look up Lynn G Robbin’s original speech. Andrew said in his video “I want to really steel-man why he says it’s so important for the poor to pay tithing.” But instead of looking up the full context, Andrew just made a wild guess based on the out of context lines he heard on TikTok. Andrew never addressed the actual reasons Robbins gave for his statement, and instead he invented a much weaker argument that no one ever actually made. Thats literally the definition of a strawman. I confronted him about this fact, but he doesn’t seem to care about the obvious dishonestly he’s demonstrating. If you watch the original speech (“Tithing - A Command Even for the Destitute” April 2005 General Conference), you’ll see that the majority of Robbins’ talk is about the widow of Zarepheth, a well-known story in the Bible about a starving widow and her son who were asked by the prophet Elijah to feed him first. And do you remember the blessings that the widow gained for being obedient? For sacrificing what the prophet asked her to sacrifice, even though she had almost nothing? She was blessed with enough food to last her and her son through the entire famine. That what Lynn G Robbins meant when he said why the poor can’t afford not to pay tithing.
Connor, dude, you already admitted that the poor need to tithe instead of eat to earn exaltation and you’ve continued to dance around and say I’m creating a strawman after you’ve already conceded my point. I already told you I’m arguing against the principle not the context of the quote which again, you agreed what he said in the video is true for the poor to receive exaltation. You’re either not understanding what I’m saying or you’re blinding your eyes to it. I’m done responding to you man. Have a nice day.
He never said that tithing was necessary for exaltation. That had nothing to do with his message in any way, shape or form, so don’t pretend that you’re responding to him. He never mentioned exaltation even once. If you cared at all about responding to our actual teachings then you should address what Lynn G Robbins actually says instead of making up a significantly weaker argument as a strawman. As for what I said, I said that obedience to all of God’s commandments is required for exaltation. And yes, tithing is one of God’s commandments. Your attempt to use Romans 8:29 as a prooftext fails because, as any Latter Day Saint could tell you, Romans 8:29 isn’t talking about exaltation.
The power of the mind is an incredible thing. The power of indoctrination and cognitive dissonance is an incredible thing. There is overwhelming proof that Joseph Smith totally made this all up. But we still have people that believe whole heartedly that it’s absolutely true. Amazing
Read the Sermon on the Mount. Look at the example of Christ. Everyone will live again due to the resurrection but that's not the same as exhalation. Christ said believe in Him and FOLLOW Him. He was always doing things. Faith without works is a dead faith. So grace isn't enough to love with God again. You must follow.
@ArticulateApologetics everyone will live again but not everyone will live in Gods presence. Christ's resurrection includes all souls. Even the reprehensible...like serial killers. But they will not live in His presence. Grace is the gift of eternal life but not exhaltation...living with God requires work...following the commandments etc.
The Mormon god is not a maximally great being. As such, most arguments for God's existence cannot apply to him. Thus, the Christian God has _way_ more arguments for His existence than the Mormon god. The Mormon god is basically just a superhero. 🦸♂️
No my friend, they are not. The God of the Bible has been God from “everlasting to everlasting” psalm 90:2. The god of the LDS church is one who became god and we must learn to become gods just as all other gods have (king follet discourse) these are different gods.
@@ArticulateApologetics God the Father is an eternal omnipotent omnipresent being. Jesus Christ is His son. The Holy Ghost is our comforter given to us by the Father. Nailed it. That young man just got educated with scripture. I wonder if there will be a new video that corrects the false doctrine he taught.
