The steepest road in Norway (S3:E13)

- Continuing from our last stop at a military base we head to one of Norways hidden gems. Tronåsen is a road from the 18th century that at the time it was built was the steepest road in the country. After that we head to Jøssingfjord to have a look at another historic gem underneath a huge cliff.

Great video again 👍
Caution !! Having breaks fail you twice, is a strong indicator a change of brake fluids are overdue.
Until then, please ride safe and think like a lorry driver while riding fully loaded and with a passenger.
When approaching steep descends, shift down a couple of gears and let the engine do more of the breaking.
It’s better breaking firmly in intervals, rather than applying a light constant pressure as it may cause your brake fluid to overheat. Imagine you lost your front brake simultaneously 😳
Have fun ! 🫵😄
Hehe yeah that would suck 😅
I had a full service a brake fluid check just before this trip. It hasn’t been a problem since turkey, but this hill with this eight I guess was too much 😅
Also consider some other brake pads. SBS for example are made for harder use. 2-up on those gradients are bad news for brakes!
Thanks for showing your wonderful country keep up the great work
Thank you 😊 glad you enjoyed it
If you are in Songdalstrand before 4 o'clock, go to the hotel and get the fish soup. It is 250 NOK, but it is so good that it is worth it.
/Morgan
Enjoy your videos
Glad to see Marion back..always a beautiful smile.
Thanks for sharing your adventures..
Stay safe
Thank you 😊
It’s fun to travel together for a change 😛
Spectacular scenery and I enjoy hearing the history of the area you are travelling through. Loved travelling through in the late 1990's and wishing I could get back to explore some more.
Greetings and best wishes from New Zealand.
Craig
Wonderful fantastic so interesting...as a fellow biker who has ridden from the UK to Norway twice i have to say your videos and history information is brilliant!! Much love to ye both and your videos are superb fascinating and super interesting..
Great video thank you very well done cool roads thanks again. Cheers to ya.
Tronåsen WOW.... what an view. Thanks for showing. I put it on my list when traveling to Norway. Very interesting episode.
Hehe yeah it’s a small road, but quite unique so worth a visit 😛
There is love in the air between you two😊., What a great video nice nature, cool people. Great content.
😂🙈
I just like seeing Marion join you on adventures.
I could really see you pushing that huge boulder! Norway is a beautiful country! Especially in the summer for me. A great video!! Stay warm and safe 🎉🎉
Thank you 😊 yeah it is a very beautiful place.
Fun to have Marion with me on the bike again 😛
Takk!
Takk 😊
Veldig fint konsept.
Super film👍😊
Takk 😊
I hope, Marion will ride some day her own bike and enjoy riding as you do ... 🙏
She will. As soon as we have the money for her license 😛 it cost almost 4000€ in Norway so it takes some time to save up 😅
@@RidetheBean and I thought it was expensive in New Zealand to get your licence.
Warning: Have you ever changed the brake fluid on your bike? If not, I strongly recommend that you change the fluid and bleed the system. Old brake fluid might lose heat resistance and that gives it a lower boiling point. Under heavy braking, like those steep hairpins, that might cause overheating, which can cause airbubbles in the fluid and you lose all your brake-effect.
Most excellent watch, Beansters.
History and Geography, 2 reasons why we travel.
Onwards.
Ride safe 👍
Hehe yeah there is always something to learn on the road 😛
I can't remember a road (including Hard Knott Pass) that was too steep for engine braking. I try to avoid using brakes as much as possible, especially on downhills to prevent overheating. Haven't had any isses with the T7 World Raid last month riding through Switserland. And if I brake I hardly ever use the rear brake, it's 99% front brake. It's much more effective especially downhill and there's more brake pad and disc so less heat. Anyway, great images! Can't wait to get back to Norway.
I'm watching this screen bracket for years now, when you're gonna take it off?? 😁 Love the vids, great to see Marion with you, you 2 are connecting like Lego
😂 yeah I don’t know why I haven’t removed it. I guess I am just so used to it that I don’t notice that it’s there 😅
Loved this episode ❤️ you should have taken the chance and proposed lol
😂 I don’t think that will ever happen. I have never understood the point of a marriage contract. If we want to be together we stay together. If not we don’t. A pice of paper doesn’t change anything 😅 the only reason to do it would be for tax purposes 😂

Kenneth, you are a real Viking but you should be a little more romantic especially with a French girlfriend ! Love Is Love ua-cam.com/video/sLD7IyUdNEQ/v-deo.html
Tronåsen 🤔 Unfortunately I wasn't aware of this gem 2 years ago when riding through this area on my way to North Cape. I put a mark in my map for the next time👍🏻
BUT i was at Jøssingfjord utsiktsplass and rode along the Fjord and mine 😉
Enjoy your time together,
Bernd
It’s not a big road, but very fun little detour if you are in the area 😛
Hej kompis!
I've had that brake fun in the US Rockies. In my case, it turned out the vent could not keep up with the altitude change!
And agree with @frantiseksinka9565, Marion, if she wants, really needs her own bike. Fiancee bench, drops an M bomb at the end....sweet....
Recommend people to ride Tronåsen the correct way then!
Hehe well I think going down is more fun than going up it 😅 and it just happened to be the way I came from 😛
for some shrimps 🍤
😂 thank you so much 😊
In a couple of clips in this video you and the vehicles in front of you are driving on the left side of the road which you don’t do in Norway 🇳🇴
Are those clips mirror flipped? Great video overall and Norway is so beautiful! 🇳🇴🏍️👍😍👍
I had the same question actually 😁 why riding on the left, let’s see the answer! Great video indeed.
Oh shit 😅🤦🏼♂️
One of my cameras flips the image, and I have to manually correct it. I think I accidentally copied from the wrong clip and didn’t notice 😅
Thanks for letting me know 😅
@@RidetheBean good to know 😂 hope to see you one day riding in Jordan 🇯🇴
Cheers
@Harley.rider.jo77 yeah I’d love to! I traveled through Jordan some years ago and camped in wadi rum and Petra. Stunning country.
@@RidetheBean oh wow, I didn’t know you’ve been to Jordan before! Wadi Run and Petra are definitely stunning and still there’s a lot more to explore! Hopefully next visit and you let me know when you plan for it 👍🏻😁
Interesting! How do you know how to find these places? You find the gems in more than one way :-D
Hehe most of them are tips I get from locals. But I have travelled quite a bit around Norway before, so in this season it’s more just showing you guys and Marion some of my favorite spots
@@RidetheBean Thank you for sharing, i`m gonna take my F900GS and go some of these places.
you have to be careful with your hot brakes. If your brake fluid gets too hot, you will get air in your brake lines. It may also be that your brake fluid contains too much water, causing your brakes to boil more quickly. when did you replace the brake fluid? It might be wise to do maintenance and bleed your brake lines.
Yeah I had it serviced just before this trip. This has happened a few times going down steep hills.
Tons or tonnes, not tonns...
😅 thanks 🙈
10:31 Waaaaa! Wrong side! Or wrong country? Perhaps Great Britain?
Thx for your videos and special thx for the Tronåsen tip, I hope I can drive it the next time I visit your wonderful country. Respectful greetings from northern germany.
edit: Like you I don´t understand people (guests) that aren´t respectful with the places, countries an people they a visiting. I practice "leave no trace" about 40 years, when this term not even exists...
Norway and Scandinavia at all were nicer in the 90th without the masses of big white campingvans.
😅🤦🏼♂️🙈 I must have accidentally flipped the camera 😅
Yeah I think anyone should be able to do anything as long as you leave no traces that you were there. But for some reason a few people ruing these places for everyone else…
